I took my mid-2012 Macbook Pro to YY when some of the keys on the keyboard stopped working. I was referred by Easy Mac Support to YY Computer. YY Computer did a great job and only took a couple of days, ready on time. I was also charged less than the estimated price, so another plus. To replace the keyboard is a complete disassembly, everything has to be disconnected. After the repair, I was quite pleased to find the keyboard working perfectly and everything else working flawlessly as well; Keyboard backlight, WiFi, audio, speakers, etc. All was reconnected correctly. read more

"Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section" read the header on my computer screen. in the pop up's corner was an emblem of an eagle with the words "Dept. of Justice" and "F.B.I" amongst the sections cited, i was accused of negligently allowing my computer to be used for illegal activity. thus, the "state" locked me out of my computer. i was being fined $300, payable by buying some kind of "money grant/order" at CVS, Walgreens, etc. and depositing it in the designated bos (with appropriate serial numbers).. then my computer will be unlocked in a few days. HUH? figured it was a virus. logged in elsewhere, yep, it's called "ransomware". Called YY computer, they said they could cure this for $95. picked up a used dell computer for $300 including tax. will i there.. will upgrade to 5 stars if everything works out. guys were knowledgable, easy to deal. parking lot full. so parked at meter. It is not super cheap, and most repairs take a couple of days, but still, very unpainful for something that is REALLY painful to have to do. read more

Lovely guys and consummate professionals with whom I've had the pleasure of patronizing for some years now. If I could give them six stars, I would. I just took in an older refurbished Lenovo desktop that I bought from them probably four years ago. It had crashed during a Windows 10 update and neither my MS Word nor my Firefox worked. They spent perhaps 15 minutes correcting the problems, and now it works perfectly. Also, I was under the impression that one should always leave the computer running, rather than shutting it down after a session. Not so! Took in my daughter's MacBook Pro for a myriad of issues. YY was good at returning my initial phone call, and after I dropped it off I got service updates via email. It was right after the holidays so they told me it would take 5-7 days just to diagnose. Ugh. Thankfully it didn't - they diagnosed within 3 1/2 days and repaired it within 5 days. It's been almost a week and everything is running smoothly. And after I approved the quote for the repair, they actually let me know that it would cost $50 less. Yay for less! The one piece of advice I have is this: when delivering the diagnosis, my preference would be to be called so that I can clearly understand the what and why of what needs to be repaired. Receiving an email with the diagnosis really just makes me have to pick up the phone and call them to get further explanation....so just in terms of customer service that would be my preference - and I would let them know that in the future. Anyway - I wouldn't hesitate to use YY Computer again. read more

I had to take yet another of my laptops in because it was not working and I once again received awesome service and complete transparency when Tony inspected it. All communication was done via email through an easy to use ticketing system and the turnaround time was just a few days (due to a holiday) and with their convenient store hours I had no problem getting in after work to pick it up. I'm a very low tech senior. Tony was generous and helpful when I went into the shop because my old computer was failing. He diagnosed the problem which was that it had run out of capacity. I then bought a new Lenovo computer with more than twice the capacity and hired him to come to my apartment and move all my settings and files from my Windows 7 version to Windows 10 on the new machine. You know that old saying, "You get what you pay for"? That wasn't the case here. I had stopped in this store before - I get my haircut next door at K2 Salon - another great business! - and the staff was friendly. Two nights ago I dropped my lap top and the screen stopped working. I called DELL and since I purchased an added warranty, they sent me a free replacement screen. DELL would have replaced it for free however I would have had to surrender my computer for 10 days.... that was unacceptable considering this laptop is a line line of my business. I called around to get price quotes on replacing the screen - labor only. I called YY first and they quoted me $70. I thought the price was fair but I decided to call a few other shops to compare. Prices ranged from $102 - $225. I took my computer to YY this morning and they said they'd do their best to have it back by 6PM. They called me at 3:30, it was ready. I went to pick it up, worked perfectly and they even diagnosed a virus problem for free + gave me a solution to try on my own. These guys have earned my business for good. In this case, I feel I got more than I paid for, or at least I didn't get ripped off. Great service, good prices, friendly staff, high quality work - what more can you ask for. Next time you have a computer issue, leave the geek squad behind and contact this local business. Get better service, at a better price and keep your $$$ in our local economy. read more

So when my screen broke as well (I swear, don't ever buy a cheap laptop!!), they were again very competitive with the price and fixed it up quickly. I had a mirrored raid and somehow while switching to Windows 7, the raid degraded, and when re-mounted, a quick format occurred. Everything was gone... years... literally years of work gone. I found YY Computer here on Yelp, and gave Huey a call. Very good over the phone, so I decided to give them a try... I had already checked and saw that the data was there (it wasn't a low-level format - and I used a couple data-recovery apps.), but I wanted them to get it back with the original file names and in their proper directories. I've used YY Computer a couple of times. Both times, I've gotten a great impression of the folks that work there, thanks to their solid and respectful communication skills. They also have great prices but, more importantly, apply their prices with consideration: when I told them I figured the hard drive on my laptop was broken, they tested it and offered to sell me and install a HD replacement -- but the diagnostic was no charge. I sent the failed hard drive YY computer installed in my laptop back to PNY (the company they bought the hard drive from), and they sent a new drive back. Yes I had to deal with this, not them because they played the third party card. It looks cheap, and tho compatible with mac's it is mainly used for PC's PNY told me. And now I'm gonna have to pay for it to be placed back in my laptop and new operating system installed. I paid YY computer $250 last July to upgrade my hard drive to a solid state drive. It's not right that I would need to pay again. If the Apple store had upgraded my hard drive, they would not of left me to deal with it while the hardware is still under warrenty Nor would they tell me to pay it fix it. I wish I had never purchased this lemon from YY computer or paid them to upgrade it. It's been a huge waste of time. Currently I'm not sure what to do. Because I don't want to pay them again, so I'm stuck with my laptop, and a new empty hard drive. That's right all my stuff is gone! Honestly I'd like to give them this PNY hard drive back in return for my old mac hard drive & my $250! read more

I was so happy with my YY experience! I was referred to them for water damage to my tracking pad. They talked me through everything that had happened, gave me a realistic 48 hour turnaround, were actually up front about what they thought the problem might be and what it might cost to fix it, and then they had what I thought was a reasonable inspection fee (one that would be absorbed into the repair fee if I decided to move forward with them). One tip: they do accept walk-ins, and since the phone system seems to be a bit slow I suggest doing that. Just drop by and drop off your computer for an inspection. If I had waited for the phone tree to catch up with me it would have cost me two extra days while schedules aligned. I'm hoping not to need their services again, but if I do ever have mac issues then they are definitely the team I'll visit. They sent me quick and clear email updates. They returned my compy good-as-new (and sparkling clean), they repaired it quickly, and for a reasonable price, and did I mention that they have a PARKING LOT?
