Aye so I"m out in Texas for work, and since we just got paid we decided to kick off to some Vietnamese cuisine and I choose this place and it did not disappoint. My friend got the grilled pork (com tam thit nuong) I got the shaken beef (bo bu lac) and my other friend got the stir fry chicken with vegetables. We all agreed it was delicious and fillings. I personally spoken with the chef that made our dish and she revealed that she used fillet migon beef to make consistent shaken beef without it being too chewy since it was so tender and it melt into your mouths with so much savory. The environment would need more work for sure but the services were smooth and no trouble, the lady that serve us was pretty friendly and nice and I mistakenly thought she spoke Vietnamese and it was funny but also hand down a bit embarrassing haha. The service was good, it wasn't crowded when we went. A younger girl was out, she wasn't familiar with the menu and told us she was new but was very friendly and attentive. We had the Pho, some egg rolls and #82? I believe it's a rice noodle dish with vegetables beef and an egg roll. Place seems dated but cozy, they had outside seating as well. We're back at Lieu's for some delicious food! Well earlier today it was rainy and cold so I had a bowl of pho on my mind, however by the time we were ready to eat dinner it was sunny and beautiful outside so that opted for one of their delicious rice plates with grilled beef and it was delicious as usual, my girlfriend had the noodle bowl with grilled pork and shrimp also delicious and accompanied by some yummy egg rolls. Traditional service of an authentic joint, pretty slow, not great. water tastes terrible in this part of town so get a coffee or coconut water or smoothie. One cook and one waiting tables and taking to-go orders. the economy is tough, we need to be out supporting these small family owned places! The best pho broth around - hands down. You can tell the difference immediately. So many places use powder base for their broth and it is immediately noticeable that Lieu's doesn't take any shortcuts. Lots of beef bone, onion and spices like star anise make her broth stand above others. The staff members and Lieu herself make you feel at home with their sweet smiles and offer to get you what you need. Like being in a friend's kitchen. I consider myself lucky every time I visit. There are three main points I want to raise about this restaurant. 1. They charge a service fee of 18-20% regardless of the group size, whether it's three, four, or five people or more but most restaurants was charge service fee when you have a group of 6 people or more. I was visited with a group of five people and was charged this fee. In reality, the server only showed us to our table, took our order, and delivered the food; they didn't attend to us at all after that. Yet, they still charged an 18% service fee. I find this completely inappropriate; you aren't actually looking after the customer, yet you charge a service fee. 2. The food was extremely expensive. I wouldn't complain about a high price if the portion were generous, but here, the price was steep while the serving size was tiny. Typically, Pho costs around $12 for a small bowl and $15 for a large one, yet this place charged $18--which I find excessive. Furthermore, the venue isn't upscale at all; it's located in a bad neighborhood, yet they charge prices comparable to a fine-dining restaurant. To top it off, the portion I received looked like a kid's meal. 3. In the end, my family and I ordered five bowls of pho and paid a total of $112. Do you think that's expensive? What's more, we were still hungry--we didn't feel full at all because the portions were so small. We are so disappointed and will not return to this restaurant again.! Actually, I was give this restaurant 2 stars because I think it would be great if they made some improvements. They don't need to lower the price; simply increasing the portion sizes to match what they charge would be enough. I will say the waiter was very nice and great but the food was terrible! there was no fish sauce or chili oil and the broth had a sweet taste that was very unusual for pho thats supposed to be a savory bowl which additionally the noodles were way overcooked and practically dissolved in my mouth. We ordered the shrimp spring rolls and the disappointment was unreal the shrimp looked good till you take your first bite and realize there was barely any shrimp in there it was just an illusion. The shrimp is cut in half and only left the smallest amount to make it look like there was shrimp in there. We ordered pho for dinner and was disappointed as well. This is a family owned business. You will always see the owners there cooking and doing like everything. The pho broth is cooked for more than 24 hours to allow it to fully develop in depth and flavor! The menu is huge and there is something for everyone! My families favorite place to go and Eat. I can eat soup any time of the year. Make it a noodle soup and I'm even happier. But if you're one to avoid soups when it's hotter than heck in the summer, Lieu's offers rice dishes and refreshing noodle salads as well. My favorite is the bun bo xao which is essentially a rice noodle salad topped with sauteed beef. I appreciate that the noodles are always cooked perfectly. It's loaded with cool veggies, and I love the toasted crushed peanuts on top. Add chili garlic sauce to the fish sauce first and then drizzle it over the salad...yum! You can also get the noodle salad with grilled beef, chicken, or pork and with or without an eggroll as well. They also have your usual dishes such as fried rice and stir fried noodles. If you're craving Viet food and your first thought is pho, come try their other dishes! I assure you it is nice and cool in here and a great place to escape the summer heat. The customer service is always friendly and efficient. I've been coming here for the past 14 years starting at their previous location in Lake Worth. Mediocre Pho based on taste, lacking a variety of Pho INGREDIENTS, its worth the 15 minute drive. To Belnap in Haltom City you will get better tasting food, larger portions at a better prices and LOTS OF NO ADDITIONAL FEE INGREDIENTS. We came the day after the recent snow storm at 12:30 to an empty restaurant. According to the reviews it has been around for several years so I expected great things. The interior is nice inside, maybe a little out dated but certainly better then other vietnamese places I have been to. A man brought us menus and we ordered hot green tea (excellent), water meatball pho and chicken pho no onions. The meal came very quickly and with onions. I'm pretty sure that even though I had chicken pho the broth was beef. My husband loved his and said it was the best he ever had. The man waiting on us did notice I picked as many onions off as possible but made no attempt to fix. I was halfway through the meal so really it was too late. I was disappointed. We were on our way to another restaurant for lunch when we saw Lieu's on 199 and changed our mind. Glad we did! We found some amazing authentic Vietnamese food. The server was very quick and seemed to be operating the entire restaurant by himself, which made the experience unique. We always order #130 because we love the lemongrass sauce and she suggested #129 and said it had the same sauce on the side but was a better cut of meat. Oh my goodness!
