I've been here a few times for boba and it's great boba, however I ordered their food for the first time today and was underwhelmed. The food was good, decent amount, but we were charged $4 for delivery, .75 cents for a menu and several items were removed from my order when I asked them to remove a dinner that on their old menu was only $8 and now was $12 that I no longer wanted. When I called him and explained that I never asked for the other items to be removed he simply said I'll send you a receipt of what I charged you for and hung up on me. So after a downtown experience in Fort Worth that was not what we expected, we decided to look for a hole in the wall place and get food we really like. On our way home we found this Asian diner that doesn't look like much from the outside but is nice once you get in. We are rating both places separately based on the food we had. (They seems to have 3 dif businesses under one roof.... 3rd one was a boba place my daughter confirm as being good and my son liked the Thai tea.) As for the pho: veggie plate was great, not skimpy and veggies were fresh.... we just ordered extra lime (you know me) and that was it. Not sure if the pho was recently made but it was a bit "light" on flavor (pho tends to pack more flavor the longer it boils) ....but good though. Meat was good and plate was very well served!!! The only other thing bring the score to 3 stars is it was not boiling hot... so that leads me to believe that that is the way they make it... so it was good but only good. The clerk was cool but sneaky. My girlfriend and I were on the road and wanted some pho and this place was conveniently close to us so we stopped by to see what's up. We ordered two beef special soups which were 12.95 each, and that's all we ordered. The pho was not that good, we got two larges but there was more soup than anything. It's like he just poured a lot of broth in there just to make it look like a large. Anyways when it was time to pay it somehow turned out to be 30.49 which doesn't add up because the phos were each 12.95 and the tax rate in Texas is only 8.25%. When I asked the clerk hid it came out to 30.49 all he said was it's taxes but if you actually do the math the total would've probably gotten up to like 27 dollars. Legit Vietnamese restaurant right by TCU.. seafood pho was very satisfying. Broth is flavorful and they give you a good amount for the price.. I ordered a regular and it seem like a large at most Vietnamese restaurant and even I couldn't finish it.. I really enjoy the pho here. After my second visit, I'm definitely a fan of this Vietnamese comfort food. The location is good for tcu students and any working professionals. The interior is nice in the seating area and they even have a nice bench for those waiting for takeout. I do think they could spend a little more time on handwriting their menu items on the chalkboard. It is a little messy to look at with old eraser marks and crossed out words. These are small little details that would really make the place nicer. The owner and workers are very nice. They are accommodating. An example is today I ordered a beef brisket pho with no brisket. I did this because I was sick and wanted to stick to just broth and noodles. They offered broccoli or carrots to add in to the soup just because they wanted to make sure it wasn't too plain (I assume). I declined but it still made an impression. Finally, let's talk pho. I recommend the beef pho. It has a very rich flavor that you do not get in the chicken pho. However, if you do get the chicken pho, I recommend using that chili paste like sauce in the jars. It really adds flavor and a nice spice to the broth. I really like that they have a little bar with sides to add to your pho. I love to add extra bean sprouts and cilantro. This food will fill you up and you will have leftovers! It's a great deal for $8.95 and I hope it doesn't change. Whether you're sick or healthy, pho is my new go to meal. read more

The spices and garnishes were all fresh but what was good and not amazing is the pho broth. It lacked richness and flavor. I had to add lots of different things to get it just right. Was in the area and decided to try this place since it had great reviews. Came on a Friday around 2-2:30, the place was dead. I ordered the grilled chicken plate (S2) which included some veggies and rice, one order of tofu spring rolls, two orders of steam rice with a two sides of soup, for my kids, and a Thai iced tea. We got the food and it was all well presented. As soon as I took a bite of the rice I realized it tasted odd, as if it were sitting there for a while and they just reheated it. The chicken was dry & tasted as if it were reheated as well. The side of cabbage was cold, not sure if that was intentional and it looked old as well. By the second scoop of rice I found a short light brown hair. It surely wasn't mine. I called the waiter over and discreetly told him the situation. He apologized profusely & took the plate back, but it was still gross. I also asked about the tofu spring rolls since they have not been given to us. He said he would check on that as well. When the chicken plate came back the rice was nice and hot and actually tasted freshly made, nothing like the first serving, which made the dish somewhat better. He also brought out the tofu spring rolls; gave them to us for free, apologized and mentioned that we had just missed the college rush and his cooks tend to slack off soon after. We thanked him and told it was fine. My kids seemed to enjoy their rice and soup, no complaints on their end. The Thai iced tea was good too. Reason for the two stars is because the waiter apologized and corrected the mistakes of the chefs, which is great. Not many restaurants do all that. Finally got to check this local TCU joint out. Had spring rolls, Bahn Mi, Pho and Com and can say all were done with excellence. I prefer the beef grilled more well done for texture. Chicken rolls were awesome. Appreciate the fish sauce being diluted to cut the sodium headaches! Boba was great too. I honestly hate giving low ratings. I do. Especially to new and locally owned small businesses. That being said, I had a less than stellar experience with this place, and I hope that my review may help restaurant goers and the restaurant itself improve! I want to preface this review by stating that I used to actually work as a server for a Vietnamese restaurant for next to a year, so I do have high standards when it comes to Vietnamese food. Perhaps that's the reason why, or maybe it was just a bad night, but my expectations were definitely not met. Especially after I read all these great reviews. Anywho, onto my experience. My boyfriend and I walk into the restaurant at about 6pm - prime dinner time - to find it empty. That seemed a little odd to me, but I was happy I wouldn't have to wait to be seated. The atmosphere was a bit... drab? Perhaps that's not the word, but it was a bit weird. We go up to the counter and are greeted by the cashier, somewhat dryly. She handed us menus, and we looked them over. I noticed that they didn't have different sizes for their dishes, so I assumed they were decently larger, given another review I saw on here. She took our order, and before she finishes ringing us up, the phone rings and she stops helping us. Another cashier has to come up and finish us out. We pick our seat to wait for both our food and drinks. I did like the booths, with the spoons, chopsticks, and forks readily available. I got a milk tea with boba and my boyfriend got a thai tea with boba. We also got edamame as an appetizer, which comes out before our drinks (not a problem at all). The edamame looks alright at first, but after eating a few, we both notice that it tastes... off. I never leave edamame unfinished, but I had to in this case. The boba drinks were decent, nothing necessarily outstanding. My only complaint was that the boba was a bit mushy for my taste. About 10 minutes later our food comes out. My boyfriend got the Vermicelli with pork and a pork eggroll, and I got my brisket pho. The cashier (the same one who took our order) who delivered our food wasn't rude, but made it apparent that she didn't want to be there. I am not one to complain about service, having worked plenty a waiting job myself, but I know, as a former server, that one has to seem amicable for customers to feel welcome. She did spill some fish sauce that almost got on my boyfriend and didn't really seemed too fazed about it or apologized, just walked away while we were cleaning it up. Anywho, onto the food. The portions were a bit smaller than I expected. My boyfriend said that the Vermicelli he got was one of the smallest he has ever had. While I struggle to finish a traditionally small bowl of pho (so this doesn't really affect me) it's worth mentioning for other patrons' sakes. My pho wasn't great, but it definitely wasn't bad, either. I had gotten some bean sprouts, lime wedges, and chili paste from the salad bar thing they had (which I think is a really cool idea) just in case I needed it, which I desperately did, in order to make it flavorful. My boyfriend told me that the noodles in his Vermicelli weren't cooked well and there were many that were still stuck together. He also said that the pork wasn't very flavorful, and that the eggroll was a bit cold. We left rather quickly, with most of our food unfinished. All together, it was not the worst experience that I've had, but I was disappointed, and will likely not return. I know many a pho place in a similar price range that offer more and better food. I really do hope for the best for this restaurant, so please don't assume I have malicious intentions! In summation: Atmosphere: 4/10 Service: 3/10 Drinks: 6/10 Food: 4/10 Edit: Both my boyfriend and I are incredibly sick to our stomachs. We've been vomiting on and off all day.
