I realllllly wanted to love this place. It seemed adorable and their menu has a lovely little twist to the every day Italian. First off they have great seating options, but finding their front door is a bit confusing if you've never been here before. If you come before the rush (say, for happy hour) their upstairs neighbors are a bit noisy and I suggest you enjoy yourself out front on the patio. Second, their food came out prompt, delicious and of proper temperature. Third, nothing makes me more irritated than the menu stating one price/deal and your ticket noting another. I highly recommend you stay away from this place - solely because of their customer service and staff. A huge lack of competency on the staff and manager part and the staff rudeness towards the patrons, so many ridiculous things happened with this waitress and establishment. The kicker, is after attempts to rectify the situation at the restaurant, it lead to a phone call asking for the manager. The hostess asked for the nature of the call, which was explained and she said she would get the manager. The hostess didn't have her phone on mute, and I could lhear the manager saying "I don't want to deal with this and don't care. Ask them to call back and handle the call" The hostess tells me that the manager is unavailable. I stated that I could hear the manager, and she still said give me your information and the manager will call you back. STAY AWAY - poor service, treat customers as trash, manager can't even speak to address any situation. HORRIBLE experience. read more

My boys and I were on our way back from a small vaycay, got done at the royal gorge and making our way back to Greeley. This place was a very pleasant surprise. Boys wanted pizza I wanted Italian. We had our pup and was able to sit outside with her. Waiter seemed a bit new and unsure of their position, but we did get our drinks and food eventually. Food was out of this world and everything we wanted at that moment. Boys picked a bbq pizza I ordered the pesto gnocchi! Drool drool drool, I scraped the bowl clean! For me Z'abbracci is a 3 star review primarily because of service. I actually loved the food! We came here one Saturday when there was a big festival in downtown Castle Rock. When we walked in, around noon there didn't seem to be many people in the place. The hostess seemed flaky, she asked us if we were ok with a table - I looked around and it was all tables (except the bar) so I was way like, yeah? She also seemed to have no idea what was going on outside, ok, whatever. So we sit down and want a beer. We didn't get drink menu so the waiter grabs us one - apparently we were sat at the ONLY table that didn't have one. Whatever, no biggie. The server disappears for a bit and when he comes back he takes my husband's drink order and starts to wander away without taking mine. Again, wtf??? So I yell after him and he kind of gets confused and says ok. Seriously, I feel like everyone is half asleep. He comes back after what seemed like long while and tells us both that both beers we chose are no longer available. In fact the drink menu is all wrong. Sigh. I won't go on. The rest of the meal is this level of flakiness. Food wise, I had the italian beef with truffle parm tots. It was wonderful! Great flavors on the crispy tots. On the sandwich, the giardiniera tasted homemade and really made the sandwich. However, the vibe and service was bizarre. Maybe an off day. read more

The works Sicilian pizza and the risotto tots are usually what we order when there is a group. We also frequent this place for happy hour and order wines and the house red wine. HOLY YUM! Tried this place for lunch today (Tuesday) and I am so happy I stumbled upon it! Menu = so many options whether you want a salad, pizza, sandwich or maybe both?! Food = deliciousness! I had the weekday lunch combo which is pizza, salad and a drink for $9! What a steal! The pizza was so freaking good; I had the 3 meat combo slice that was think and had so much flavor. The Cesar salad was good too. The combo also comes accompanied by a crostini. I dipped the crostini in some spicy oil that was on the table, MUST TRY! They also leave honey on the table for the crust if you must! Ambiance = casual, trendy & modern. I loved the inside of this place but don't worry you can sit outside under an umbrella looking at downtown castle rock if you want, too! The restaurant has a cute bar as well! Our family loves Z'Abbracci's, it's my toddlers favorite pizza in town & we go every week! It can be very busy during HH so I'd recommend going early or later to get a table and there's no option to make reservations online or over the phone, you have to make them in person. Once you order, food is fast and delicious. We almost always get a pepperoni pizza and the shrimp artichoke dip, but we've tried many other menu items over the years and all have been delicious! What a great find! Thank you Nonna for sharing your Strata recipe with the chef!! We were headed up the street to a restaurant with a long wait for seating. You'll never hear me described as patient, and neither is he...when it comes to food. We ended up back where we started and realized that Z'Abbracci was open for breakfast. Always up for a food adventure, we sat outside on the patio in front of the restaurant and enjoyed the sunshine. Our server, Chris, is a lovely and friendly woman who smiled the entire morning and provided great service. Ken had their Eggs Benedict, which is a bit different from what you would expect. NOT some small delicious thing, but rather larger delicious thing. Didn't need as much hollandaise sauce as comes with it, but didn't keep him from devouring it. I had Nonna's Strata, a baked bread and eggs dish which the chef enhanced today with spicy sausage, olives, onions and some other tasty things. Super ridiculously delicious. Either I'm starting to eat like an old lady, or restaurant servings are getting bigger. Don't answer that, it wasn't a question. Stopped in for dinner and was amazed at the number of food options, from pizza and sandwiches to pasta and scallop risotto. It was hard to choose, but we eventually decided on the antipasto salad and scallop risotto, which they split and we still couldn't finish it all. The salad was flavorful with plenty of the goodies that make antipasto salads so tasty. The risotto was good, but not great. The scallops were a little chewy and the risotto had a tad too much garlic. But the service was great (thanks Kenzie!) and the place was cool, with a nice bar, and outdoor seating right on the main drag in Castle Rock under the lights. If you think of Castle Rock as a small town with chain restaurants, think again! Z'Abbracci is the type of place that will change how you think of Castle Rock, and you will get to enjoy a great meal and experience at the same time. Located in the heart of the historic downtown area, Z'Abbracci has the benefit of being in a great location, but it backs it up with good food and drinks. The place is crowded, so get there early to avoid a wait. If you do need to wait, the bar is a fun place to hang out. I actually visited on a Friday night and had put my name on a 30 minute wait list, but was fortunate enough to have a couple of chairs open up at the bar where we ended up eating. The restaurant has a full bar with a number of great micro beers and cocktail options. For an appetizer we chose the Arancini Risotto Tots, which were a pleasant surprise. Delicious! I chose the Salsiccia calzone for my meal. It sounded good, and it did not disappoint. It was simple - not the huge amount of bread that you sometimes get with calzones, but instead light and full of flavor. Decided to try out Z'Abbracci for dinner -without looking at reviews first - and we were definitely impressed! The decor is understated yet hip, and the entrance pays homage to the history of old town Castle Rock. But oh the pizza. And the lasagna bolognese. And linguini and clams. And risotto balls. Everything we tried was delicious. The pizza dough was reminiscent of what I loved at La Pizza Grotto, my childhood favorite pizzeria in Orange County, California. The topping was made of the freshest tomatoes, big chunks of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, and fresh basil. I can't wait to go back and try their other pizzas. The lasagna bolognese melted in my mouth, each layer offering a fabulous taste of Italy. What made this experience at Z'Abbracci truly soulful was the attentive and knowledgeable staff. Our server Kenzie was friendly and prompt but never in a rush, and she checked in with us at the appropriate times to make sure we had full glasses of water, olive oil and delivered the food as soon as it was ready in the kitchen. (The open kitchen is visible to most of the restaurant, and six chefs/cooks were clearly efficient on a busy Friday night.) The owner John and manager Jenna were on the floor or overseeing the kitchen the entire time we were there, and even came by our table to chat. This is rare at most restaurants and we enjoyed meeting them and learning more about their vision. This narrow little gem of a restaurant is a 'must' for anyone who lives within 20 miles of Castle Rock, and worth the drive for Denver-ites and those who live in Co Springs. I've visited this restaurant twice and had takeout this evening. Everything I have tried (pizza, lobster risotto, chicken Parmesan sandwich) has been outstanding. During my dine-in experiences, the service was good (attentive servers, willing to offer suggestions and continue to check on the table for drink refills and additional items), the restaurant and restrooms were clean, and the ambiance was inviting. Every time I drive by, the restaurant is full - so I must not be the only person who enjoys this place! One knock I do have is their tiramisu. Although tasty, it is missing something and the last time I had it, the middle was a little icy. Perhaps less time in the deep freeze is needed?!?! Not a major knock, but I do like my tiramisu and Z's could be better. If you're in the downtown Castle Rock area, give this place a try. After living in Castle Rock for over a decade, I don't know how we missed this little gem, but I'm glad that a local friend turned us onto this restaurant. My husband and I went here for happy hour last week and had a really good experience. It was early in the evening, so not all the wait staff was there yet, but we still got quick and attentive service from the bartender. The happy hour drink specials are reasonably priced and so were the appetizers. The aracini rice balls were crisp and yummy and my husband really liked the fried raviolis. We split the Linguini Alfredo dish, which was still a generous portion for each of us. The Alfredo was quite light and flavorful; it seemed more authentically Italian, not like the typical heavy and oily Alfredo sauces served in most Italian restaurants. The ambiance here is casual and comfortable, family-friendly but also appropriate for couples date night. We look forward to coming back and trying their pizzas, which also looked really delicious. Once again a disappointment here. They use to be so good. We ordered food and didn't get everything we ordered. My husband's sandwich looked pathetic and no tots as we ordered. My wings I ordered was suppose to be Cajun dry rub, they were naked. No spice what's so ever. And my daughter was suppose to get a Dr. Pepper with her kids fettuccine. I'm disappointed in some of these reviews. They should have at least a 4.0 or greater. The atmosphere is great, the staff has always been helpful when we're there, and the food has always been great. I'd say I'm pretty picky when it comes to pizza having worked at some quality pizza places and I think their pizza is super underrated. The Aloha Sicilian is damn near amazing. We have been here before and have always really enjoyed the pizza and service. Tonight the service was great and we had a server who was being trained. Both were great and attentive. When we ordered we got a pasta dish and a chicken parmigiana sandwich. Those were great. We ordered a garden salad and a prosciutto with arugula and the server said oh we are out of arugula. So we got spinach instead. The salad came with two tomatoes and two slices of cucumber.the pizza had no prosciutto. This is not necessarily a complaint but an observation that restaurants are possibly having trouble getting the ingredients they need. That with difficulty keeping employees due to extended unemployment, restaurants deserve some patience as they serve the community. I'm from out of town and was excited to go in for some brunch after doing the incline. Greetings and seating were normal, and drinks came normally as well. There were many options for brunch that sounded amazing. After a recommendation from our waiter, I decided on the spicy sandwich without onions. The food took quite a while but no big deal as you never know how busy the kitchen is. Our drinks were never refilled until the food came out 40 minutes after arriving. All the food came out at the same time, mine being last. The tater tots were cold in the center, and my sandwich was cold and had a massive amount of onions, no eggs or jalapeños and no hollandaise sauce. I was so hungry by the time it got there I ate a portion and just got the rest to go so I could heat it up later to eat it like it was supposed to be brought to me. Most of the other food was brought out warm and tasted ok (2 kids pizza, kids spaghetti and meatballs, Belgian waffles, and a hot italian sandwich) the other sandwich was also not warm.
