Fried Chicken & Waffle - this was kind of dry and bland
    Li W.

Came here for Sunday brunch with a few friends when they opened at 10am. Plenty of seats available during this time. I got a Fried Chicken & Waffle, which comes with spicy syrup, but the whole thing was pretty dry and bland. My husband had the BEC burger (cooked medium), which he said was also dry. Otherwise, service was quick and friendly.

Grilled chicken Sando- nice crispy and seasoned fries with a homemade pickle

A nice touch of Hoboken in New Jersey!!! Zack's has great options in the appetizers, main and desserts. Their food is aesthetically pleasing to the eye but has great proprietary flavors with spices and sauces. Jerry was our guy that made great effort to satisfy our west coast palate. Food comes out the side door of the kitchen with nice temperature and detail.

(Dined 06/16/2024 SU @ 1:00pm): Gather your friends and head over to Zack's for brunch or simply hit the bar! My friend's colleague/friend recommended Zack's Oak Bar And Restaurant for brunch https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=AyIYNrArABEuTeuU486vgg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw after I arrived in town as a place we all wanted to try. While I continued to visit a dear friend of mine and found work in the surrounding areas, I wanted to explore the cuisine scene and leave my footprint for others to hopefully enjoy. I loved brunching as much as the next person, and this place came highly recommended, so why not give them a try. Would Zack impress us with his bar and restaurant!? PURCHASE Hudson Spritz ($15.00): A proper way to begin brunch... an effervescent easy breezy sweet sparkling cocktail - cheers! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=gzFK2WmzFl5P95pUE5qxCQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Fiddlehead Brewing Co. Fiddlehead IPA Beer 16floz Draft ($11.00): Hazy rich amber color, citrusy dank hoppy aroma, low body, citrusy hoppy flavor, clean dry finish, and smooth citrusy hoppy aftertaste. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=QAL2FbBvia1Equi1mZ575Q&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Short Ribs Spring Rolls w/Five Spice Sauce 4pc ($15.00): Stuffed with shredded meat and rolled in a light crispy crunchy wrapping, these were tasty and wonderful. Sadly, the dipping sauce wasn't fully utilized but necessary either. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Aioaxg-9vlHFZqp8jeF3jg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Mac & Cheese ($16.00): A ton of small pasta shells bathed in a creamy cheese sauce mixed with finely-chopped shallots, this dish came in fast, hot, and I couldn't have enough of it. Now... if it only had some bacon pieces! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=OXyV8KFIV4BPE8EzHruwNw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Brisket Blend Burger ($22.00): Made with strips of bacon, roasted tomato, the succulent thick patty wrapped in cheddar and provolone, pickled red onion, cornichon aioli, presented open-faced on a toasted bun, and served with a pickle spear and herb seasoned thin fries, this impressive two-hander had juices run down onto my chin after each bite. The fries were good and plentiful but nothing special. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=BggyODwIbdZ4lSQsbjmfpQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw Credit Card Fee 3.00% Total Bill ($6.00): I understand why more businesses are adding this as a matter of standard operating procedure; I just wished they made it more explicitly known prior to ordering. SERVICE We made reservations, so we easily got seated next to the bar with sidewalk people-watching views. We had glasses of water delivered as we perused the menu. We placed our drink which arrived quickly, and once we placed our good order, it all came out less than ten minutes later. More drinks were ordered, the staff checked on us and cleared away dishes, and when it was time to settle the bill, that was quick and painless. Everything went smoothly - thank you! PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance) My friend and I walked a few minutes from the nearby Trader Joe's. We initially hopped on the 2nd St. Light Rail Station, got off the next stop at 9th St./Congress St. Station. I couldn't recall any private or public lots; however, there seemed to be decent street parking along the main drag of Willow Ave. and surrounding roads. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A surprisingly spacious interior layout with high tables in the bar area https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=q_y3px7aQNKGizzGPFDr1w&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw while leather barstools lined the bar, many tables in a separate back section, and several tables with umbrellas outside along the sidewalk. The decor had a very old period feel. Plenty of natural lighting came through the large front windows and doors while bright electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were a couple TVs at the bar while no music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=qP5UWu3518OpvHpVraNgtQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Zack's Oak Bar And Restaurant was a wonderful first meal on this latest trip and would definitely return. Sure, I felt things were a bit pricey; however, everything I drank, ate, and tasted was blissfully wonderful with very good portion sizes. And, the service was perfectly fine. I found total value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience FOR MY PORTION was around $84.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit cards of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

Everything about this restaurant was great except the hostess. I have lived in Hoboken for 4 years and this was my first time at the Zack's. I want to come back, but given the experience I don't know if I would. Our reservation was for 6pm and we were running about 5 min late at 6:02 we get a call from the hostess asking if we were coming (after I already confirmed over text) and I said we would be there at 6:05. She then told us we have until 7:30 as they have another reservation coming up. We get to the restaurant at 6:05 and she seats us and re-iterates we only have until 7:30pm. I have been to plenty of restaurants in the city and have never been treated like this before. As we sit we notice she's going around to many other tables either reminding them they have an hour and a half or letting them know their time is almost up and they have to leave. We even overheard other tables talking about how rude it was and how rushed they felt. They may as well give you a timer and put it on the table as soon as you sit down. They missed out on sales because of this. We were scared to order another drink or even dessert. The waiter however was amazing and super attentive. I was just shocked at the behavior of the hostess and how she made everyone in that dining room feel rushed. I have been to many restaurants with a time constraint but never experienced it like that to the point where every single table around us is also complaining about it. Other than that I would've given 5 stars. The food and the service from the waiter were incredible.

Bourbon on the Hudson - ehhh wouldn't order again Crab crack -just 1 med one but very tasty !! Ceasar salad- no croutons but I loved that breaded sprinkle?! Was great (could have used a bit more dreasing) Salmon - crispy but not dry- potatoes seasoned good Fish tacos - fish seasoned and crispy - would recommend They put salad on everything - no need to order it for an appetizer As a service standard: They didn't pour our water- or refill it the whole service (they left one bottle on the table the whole time even while it was empty) and didn't check back enough to question how the food was or if we needed more water. Our table had a clear view into the kitchen which wasn't my favorite as they left the curtain that was supposed to block my view open the entire time. The tables were way too cramped together felt like I was dining with the people next to me which is probably why the server couldn't/didnt check back on us to see what we needed

Zack's has a nice atmosphere; brunch is quiet enough to catch up with friends and during the day the entire bar looks beautiful. The food was simple and to the point. The steak was a little overdone. I particularly loved the lemon ricotta pancakes. I just wish they had a mimosas offering (bottomless maybe?)

I went with my partner to Zach's for dinner on a Friday evening for our anniversary & we had a blast. It's been some weeks now so I don't remember our server's name but she was very friendly, polite and knowledgeable about the menu. The music selection was great but not too loud. Seemed to be of a younger crowd (20s-30s) but that isn't a bad thing for me. Our drinks were made very well & came out in a timely fashion. Appetizer was delicious and the big portions made it fantastic to share. The dinner?! SUPERB. I'm someone who typically gets bloated after a heavy meal of pasta & seafood but my linguine was truly refreshing. I had a glass of white wine after my mule and I didn't feel sluggish at all! My boyfriend couldn't stop raving about his lamb bolognese (I didn't try it b/c I only eat seafood/pescatarian) I think for date night, small birthday dinner, or just a night out, Zach's is a great choice. Arrive earlier than planned because you'll have to look for street parking. There was absolutely nothing about this night that the staff could improve on. Everything was amazing!

Food, service, and ambiance were all solid. We came without a reservation and greatly appreciated the restaurants ability to seat us quickly. We were seated outside. The outdoor seating is a bit tight, so if you'd prefer more room, reserve for indoors! The service was quick, with our food and drinks coming out shortly after ordering them. The Pulled Pork Sandwich and the Hoboken sandwich were both decent - It is exactly what you order. Neither of us were floored by the food, but it was solid. The speedy service was appreciated, but it also seemed that the hope was for us to eat and leave quickly. The drink presentation was great and the drinks were strong, definitely recommend these well-crafted cocktails. Definitely wished we could have stayed and enjoyed some more drinks, but we didn't want to hold the table, which was the vibe we were getting from some wait staff. Would give this place another try with a reservation!

Zacks is always a go-to for me! Can't go wrong with the burger and fries. My friend tried the Short Rib sandwich and loved it.

Met some friends here for lunch the other day. Definitely did not need a reservation for lunch during the week The bartender / server was amazing during our time there. Loved that we could choose from a variety of different dips for our fries. My open faced egg sandwich with bacon and avocado was super yummy. I was a little disappointed I couldn't get a Bloody Mary (apparently they only serve them during brunch), but loved the Sweater Weather cocktail. They still had some fun holiday decor up, which made it super cozy and pretty. This would be an excellent date spot!

Portabello sandwich (portabello, roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, balsamic) + side salad
    Craig G.

Zack's is a quiet, pleasant restaurant in a quiet, pleasant stretch of lower Hoboken. Sporting slightly upscale bar food in an airy dining room. I stopped in for an early lunch on a Monday and grabbed a table outside. Beating the rush, service was quick and attentive. The food was good, if not spectacular: a portabello sandwich came with roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, and fresh mozzarella with a light balsamic while a side salad (swapped in for fries). Paired with a glass of dry Lebanese red, it was a fine lunch.

    IPA at the bar!

To make things more confusing, they came back later and said we could order alcohol after all, but by that point, the mood was already off and we decided to leave. This person proceeds to say one of the workers kicked his friend out because she was "assaulted" and let me tell you this is far from the truth, as I was the one who was apart of that altercation. To set the scene: I was there with my boyfriend this night. We come here once a month if not every other month for a smoke and cocktail. There was a group of loud folks - who we presume had been drinking - but didn't think much of it. At some point I had to use the bathroom, and there's only one here. I knocked on the door and turned the knob but it was locked. I wanted a few minutes, knocked again - lightly both times - but again no one came out. There was some old newspaper nearby that had in my hand while I waited for someone to come out. A moment later a woman barged from bathroom angrily and was holding her hand up and it appeared she had something sharp - like a hand knife or small blade. She was belligerent, yelling about why I was bothering her in the bathroom and got really close. I was almost sure she was going to stab or seriously injure me with whatever she had in her hand. I only had a moment to think and defend myself... she was pretty damn loud that everyone turned around. I shoved her to give me some space between her and myself and that sharp object. She then started screaming and I pushed her away again, and she continued to charge after me. My own boyfriend and two men had to get her away (for context I'm 5'3 100lbs and she was a lot lager than myself) and she was dragged out by staff and kicked her friends out as well. Outside, you can hear her screaming and crying saying I had started it, I assaulted her, she was going to call the cops etc.. Im glad I wasn't hurt because she's absolutely insane and I should have been the one to call and press charges for her making an attempt. No one harassed her even in the slightest. She was incredibly drunk or blacked out or high on cocaine or something. They have security footage and the testimonies of my own boyfriend who witnessed it happen from start to finish and several other people + staff that could recount this story. That said - FAFO. I am not sure why Resy prompted me to indicate the occasion if it wouldn't even be acknowledged or looked at. It obviously feels good to feel celebrated, so they dropped the ball in this regard. The second issue is it got sickeningly loud inside. This was a sunday night, and I ended up having to shout just to be heard by the girl right next to me. Everything else was good! Though there wasn't a dish that just blew my mind, everything was consistently really good and enjoyable. I recommended ordering a handful of dishes and sharing with a group. The cornstar martini was fun (and the popcorn was great!), the vodka pasta, caesar salad, and truff fries were enjoyable as well. The cute matchboxes were a cherry on top as we were leaving! I would come back for more of a going out event instead of a sit down dinner, but it's a cool spot!

We thought mini golf was interactive, everyone had the same chance to play and it's simple enough without exerting too much energy (unlike an escape room or the dancing tiles which I also came across in my research). Great place for friends, families, dates of all ages. We checked in on the ground floor (also have a coat check here) and were told they have a cabin themed course on the 2nd floor and a museum themed course on the 3rd floor, but there was a party going on. They also told us about the rooftop lounge, which is covered with plastic and they have heaters blasting the space. We went with the cabin themed. Although I don't think they completely blocked the 3rd floor with the party, we just didn't want to have to compete with others and wanted a quiet experience. They have stairs or an elevator. Once we got to the 2nd floor, we were the only ones there and were explained how the digital scoring works. We inputted our names, and our scoreboard would follow us from board to board in sequence after we all punched in our scores. The max was 6 putts per course to help keep things moving (we definitely played more than 6 on some courses lol). The courses did progressively get more challenging as you moved on. The decor was beautiful. Fairy lights lined the space with murals or a ski lodge/mountains around with a polar bear and a ski mobile. Many cute photo ops. On the last course, once you made it, the game swallowed your ball, I guess to help prevent you from trying to play the course again. I wish there was more than 9 courses though. It was fun enough but maybe having a few more would have helped fill the time more. Time flew by and we had lots of laughs. Would be excited to come back to try the museum course next time.
