My first time dining at Sirenetta because I have been a bit salty about a restaurant taking over Maxwells space. But in this economy, I go where the happy hours are, and Sirenetta's has a pretty nice HH menu. We went on a Tuesday (they have different HH specials depending on the day you go) and ordered: - $1 oysters - I would skip these as they are the only oysters I've eaten and not liked the flavor of -Whipped Ricotta Dip - This was okay, served with 2 pieces of bread when 3 or 4 would have been better -Shrimp Frites - this was fine -Kale Caesar Salad - mind blowing, possibly the best kale salad I've had - Olive Oil Martini - Full price and worth it I liked the martini and salad so much I'll be back to try more of the regular menu on a Thursday night when the martini's are $10. Sirenetta is my go to restaurant in Hoboken. The food and service are generally very good. The only downside is it's a bit pricey. You MUST get the lobster biscuits and shrimp cocktail. My husband always gets the lobster roll and I tend to get a fish dish. French fries are also top notch. read more

They also have a cute small "speak easy" in the back of the restaurant called Backstage. It gets crowded on the weekends so make a reservation. The location is prime Hoboken and the interior is light and bright but we were pretty squeezed at our inside table (3 people at a 4 person table). The servers were all adorable and very young but trying very hard. I never saw a manager or senior person. The oysters were small but this isn't oyster season. Shrimp cocktail was large and nice. Lobster roll was disappointing (bacon on it?) but Bronzino was very nice with lovely lemony cream sauce. Pasta bolognese was fine. None of the staff seemed familiar with the wine list. We ordered a bottle of Sancerre but would have been better off with the vouvray. Be aware, Sirenetto doesn't open until noon. read more

Had an excellent dinner last night at Sirenetta. This was my first dining experience. The atmosphere is quite impressive. Such an open and fresh concept with a lot of seating and privacy. There is a large bar area as well. Further in the back, there is a lounge area with music and an additional bar. Some highlights from my meal included the grilled shrimp and frites and the grilled octopus paired with mole and squash. Both had a great flavor and perfect for sharing as appetizers. My shrimp and scallop aqua panna was excellent. I was able to dip my focaccia in the flavorful stew. Lastly, the hazelnut chocolate cake with red wine ice cream was amazing. I know that I already have 3 reviews for Sirenetta, but they recently updated their menu, so I thought it was worth another acknowledgement. The restaurant seems to be changing up a few things, like now closing on Mondays and reducing their menu items. I was initially sad to see the smaller dinner menu, but, honestly, what I ordered was so good and something I could eat every night! The Seared Halibut was well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. It was served with sliced, spiced cucumbers that packed just the right amount of kick, and the accompanying fennel sauce was delicious! I also ordered a side of the Roasted Sunchokes, which were prepared like traditional roasted potatoes, but with the added funk only a sunchoke could provide. My companion tried the Burger, which was the first time he had ordered one at the place, and he said it was great! We were also, as always, enticed by their dessert menu and had to get our favorite Hot Chocolate Ice Cream sandwich, with 2 crispy chocolate cookies surrounding decadent chocolate ice cream and gooey marshmallows. The seasonal cocktail list remained the same, still including a few of my favorites. However, I decided to try a glass of the 2022 Vouvray Tufo from Domaine Damien Pinon in the Loire Valley of France. I usually love that varietal, but sometimes it can be a bit funky. I sampled this Vouvray before committing, and I loved its crispy ripeness. Lastly, I need to call out the staff that always makes us feel like family! Not sure why the ratings are so low because I thoroughly enjoyed this place. Our waitress, Gabby, was incredible and super attentive. The aesthetic of the restaurant was very sleek and nicely lit with an additional speakeasy-esque bar in the back down the hallway if you're looking for options besides sitting at the front bar for drinks. The oysters were delicious and fresh, the crab cake arancini and burrata were wonderful. I particularly enjoyed the burrata as it came in a ramp pesto sauce along with some tempura vegetables - yum!! No stars Paid $36 for black sea bass that was as small as a mini fruit tart. I asked the waiter if this was a child's portion. When I ordered the sea bass, the waiter should have told me that the portion size was extremely small. And if you look at Sirenetta's menu online, it has a picture of a Black Sea Bass that looked nothing like the sea bass that was sold to me. And the price printed online is $26 and I was charged $36. I will never dine at Sirenetta again. It's a total rip off! I guess Sirenetta is used to ripping off the young urban professionals that live in Hoboken and never look at their bill. Officially our last visit. Living in Hoboken, I hate to leave bad reviews on local restaurants, but Sirentta is unfortunately that bad. First time was terrible food and service. Second visit was on of the worst meals I've ever had. On my final and last attempt (which is more than normal but I had heard they improved), I am now sitting at home violently ill after a bad oyster. After telling the staff of the bad oyster, they were friendly and apologized, removing the oysters from the bill. The surprising part was their reaction saying "yeah that just happens sometimes." The food here is truly terrible, and food poisoning was the last straw. read more

I'm brand new to the area and have already been to Sirenetta twice and can't say enough great things about this restaurant. Our server, Gabby was super attentive and gave great menu recommendations. The Manager, Andy checked on us several times to make sure everything was ok - and it always was! You can't beat the $1 oysters on Tuesdays and their happy hour specials. After dinner we went to the backstage area where the bartender, Joe was wonderful! We were indecisive about what drinks we wanted and he crafted up something perfect for us. Sirenetta, located in uptown Hoboken, is a seafood spinoff of it's sister restaurant across the street, Sorellina. I was very excited to try it, given how cute the decor was, however, found the overall experience to be just ok. *FOOD* -Scallops & Pork Belly ($14) - I'd skip this one. The scallops were ok, but the pork belly was slightly overcooked. It only came with one skewer which I expected more for the pricepoint -Lobster All'Amatriciana ($34) - Rigatoni with lobster chunks and tomatoes. The flavors were very good...there is a slight kick in the dish, but it wasn't too spicy. The pasta could be cooked a bit more. It was a bit too firm for my taste. -Coffee Caramel Crunch ($10) - While the presentation is beautiful, I found it to be just ok. The chocolate exterior was a bit tough to eat. *AMBIENCE* The restaurant is very bright, with its modern decor, and would make a great date spot/catching up with friends. The bar is absolutely beautiful. *SERVICE* Service wasn't bad, nor was it great, we felt like we had to constantly ask for things. I don't know why this place only gets a 3.5 rating. My daughter had a hard time convincing me to come here for dinner based on the negative reviews, but she's no fool so off we went. The food was extremely well prepared and flavorful. The three of us shared the crab and papaya salad and the kale Caesar. Good sized portions and we all enjoyed both. Our mains were the halibut sandwich, the hanger steak and the shrimp and scallops stew. We all shared. I was especially happy with the preparation of the shrimp and scallop dish. The choice of very jumbo shrimp and large scallops, beautifully cooked in a sauce of tomatoes, fennel and onions was delightful. Rich's hanger steak was also tender and full of flavor. I've been meaning to try Sirnetta for ages! I finally dined here for dinner last week and was really impressed. It's a cute seafood spot across the street from its sister restaurant, Sorellina (also amazing). I made a reservation for Monday evening, which I probably didn't need because it's a pretty large space and there were plenty of tables open. The staff was super friendly and service was quick and attentive. In terms of the food, we ordered a round of oysters (so fresh) and the grilled striped bass. Stopped in for drinks/apps one Saturday at around 5 pm. It was pretty empty around that time and we just sat by the bar. I was really excited to check this place out because it looks like such a cute/modern date spot, and I do love me some seafood. Unfortunately, it could have been better. For drinks, I had the Paper Plane (bulleit, aperol, nonino, lemon) and my husband had The Acadian (bulleit rye, lemon, honey, cassis, rosemary). Both were fine, nothing special but nothing bad about it. For food, we had the Big Eye Tuna Tartare ($18). Not sure if this was worth it because there wasn't much tuna and it tasted pretty basic. I did like how thinly they sliced the sourdough it came with though but with how thin it was, I think they could have spared a couple of more slices (came with two). We also had the Spicy Shrimp & Frittes ($15). This was not bad. I thought for some reason the shrimp would also be fried but my fault for not reading. The spicy tomato oil it came in made for a nice dipping sauce for the McDonald's-esque fries. Overall, it the food/drinks were fine. The two stars come into play when we got the bill. We realized that they gave us the wrong bill. It was actually someone else's bill and it was for a lower amount, so to be nice, we pointed it out to them. They still ended up charging the lower wrong amount anyway, AND charging us for our actual correct bill. When we asked for the original incorrect charge to be voided along with a receipt, the guy was just like "oh yeah it's been done but there's no receipt". So that's when my husband told him no, we needed a receipt and the manager came and provided one for the voided charge. So they were really about to double charge us for something and make us deal with the extra charge with our credit card company. Left a really bad taste. My boyfriend and I wanted to come here for dinner tonight. We started with two of each of the oysters, a couple clams and a chowder soup. Don't get the hoboken clam chowder soup. It was not like new England so we sent it back. It's not good for what it is. We ordered the Stone crab and it was small. It's also a lot of work! Not worth it. Not flavorful. Its served cold..You don't get warm butter or a crab cracker! Don't get the Stone crab. Awful. And overpriced. Best oysters and salmon in town!!! Fresh vegetables. We will return for the clams and oysters from the raw bar and then get the grilled salmon again. Absolutely delicious. Cooked perfect. Perfectly seasoned. Nice crunch on the crust. First time here and definitely not my last I've visited Hoboken a few times and this restaurant is the first that I'm eager to return to I came and left it on the bartender, Brooks, to order whatever he thought was best. My moscow mule was solid, one of the best I've had in a while. Simple drink but many mess it up. He nailed it! His selection was perfect and I was definitely "wow-ed". My appetizer were these three rice shaped-like balls with an amazing sauce that accompanied it, followed by a lasagna pasta (noodles were a BIT over cooked but I didn't die). I ordered dessert to go. I'm sure it would be great. Also, because I'm greedy, I ordered the parpadelle to go (for lunch tomorrow). Can't wait to try that! Will be returning. Over and over again. My friend and I had dinner at Sirenetta for the first time this weekend. When the restaurant first opened, it was really hard to come by a reservation however I looked on Resy the night of and they had several openings for 2 after 7:30 pm. When booking on Resy, they do require a credit card as there is a $25 cancellation/no show fee. The interior of Sirenetta is gorgeous. It feels very clean & bright, with the white marble and gold accents. If it weren't for Covid, it would be really nice to come in and sit at the long bar for drinks & oysters. They converted the back area into a lounge like area where we were invited to have drinks at after we finished our dinner. In the main dining area, they had plenty of tables. The service was very good throughout the entire meal and our waiter was very helpful in answering all of our questions about the menu as first time diners. We decided to split 1/2 dozen oysters, the lobster biscuits and the citrus fried shrimp to start. The biscuits were delicious with the lobster butter - warm and fresh. Oysters were good. The fried shrimp were OK but for $18, you don't get a lot of shrimp - it's mostly just a plate of radicchio. I would pass on that app. For our mains, I had the lobster pasta which was a decent sized portion - the dish has a kick to it. I liked it but the pasta was a little too al dente. My friend tried the sea bass and said it was very good. For drinks, we each had two espresso martinis which were made perfectly. Was so hyped for a seafood centric restaurant in Hoboken, especially the sister restaurant of Sorellina! The interior is so nice and open. I really like the big window concepts so even the windows were open for more air circulation. The decor is really pretty too. For appetizers, we got the raw bar: oysters and clams. They were delicious! They tasted really fresh and I liked the sauces that came with it. The mignonette was more peppery which I loved. For entrees, we got the spicy lobster rigatoni and it was delicious. The sauce was a good spice level and there was a good amount of lobster meat too. The pasta was cooked al dente. We held my daughter's bridal shower at Sirenetta. We highly recommend the venue for a fun and fabulous vibe. We did a full restaurant booking which works very well. The space, ample bar area, comfortable seating, natural light from the windows, and tasteful decor, created the perfect setting. The event staff is wonderful to work with. They thoughtfully considered my vision and delivered 100%. The food choices for appetizers and the main dishes were creative and delicious, and able to accommodate different dietary preferences. Sirenetta is a solid raw bar seafood concept in uptown Hoboken. I've been curious about this spot ever since they opened up and me and my girlfriend decided to make a reservation. The operation is a little chaotic upon entry to be frank. The hostess stand is very close to the door and practically on top of a few of the tables right at the entrance there. It can lead to people piling up if there are multiple parties waiting. As for once we were seated our wait staff was super helpful. They answered all of our questions about the menu and even made some sound suggestions. We started off with the Lobster Biscuits and I must say these were fantastic. These crispy on the outside yet fluffy on the inside cheddar bay style biscuits with the lobster butter to accompany we're a perfect opener to the me. The biscuits are moist and steamy when you break into them and not to mention sprinkled with a healthy grating of pecorino. The sheeps milk cheese really compliments the biscuits as a complete appetizer that leaves the eater wanting more. Unfortunately for us, the rest of the meal didn't necessarily live up to those delectable, fluffy little biscuits. I had the branzino entrée which was good not great. Nothing to really make it truly stand apart from another fish dish at some other restaurant. It was missing something. My girlfriend, the same, she had the roasted chicken and it was just okay. Nothing truly special about it to really make us want to go back in for another bite. A little dry. Not sure if our ordering was off or if it was a rough night for the kitchen. Either way they didn't absolutely win us over, even with the hot start. We had a couple after dinner cocktails. My girlfriend's espresso martini was solid. My bourbon cocktail on the other hand was tough to put down. It was a nice overall flavor however there was a THICK layer of egg white foam sitting atop the liquidy booze, making it tough to penetrate. Not great and wouldn't order that again. Overall it was a good experience. Some of the dishes weren't the best we've had, but we've definitely had worse. We enjoyed a girls dinner outside since most of my friends have dogs. It was really hot and the staff did there best to make sure we had plenty of water! We liked the meal overall and I'd be happy to go back as the menu does change - for starters we ordered coconut scallop ceviche, it came with small fried shrimp on top and was surprisingly delish! We also ordered shrimp cocktail and a dozen oysters. For the main, we shared lobster rigatoni (lil spicy), pesto pappardelle (with soft shell crab), swordfish Milanese, Caesar salad, and cucumber salad. We loved the Milanese - perfect to share!
