We're sitting here waiting for our check and I decided to leave a quick review. The food was good: two steak salads, the pork belly skillet, a kids cheeseburger and a kids taco plate. We have been to Zama twice and had great experiences both times! My husband absolutely loves the meatball appetizer. We love getting the queso and having a little candle underneath. This keeps it warm and stops it from becoming solidified. I also love that they make the guac in front of you at the table! The atmosphere is chill with ample seating inside and out. First time I've been here and this was recommended by the person who accompanied me that night on the basis of how this was her favorite Mexican spot in the area. Expectations were high from that but I think they fell flat. Service was awkward when I asked to increase the size of my drink--it made it feel like a hassle which I found strange considering j was going up in size which would mean a bigger sale for the business? It was an odd exchange that required him asking for someone above him even though the bar was mere feet behind him. The food I ordered was pretty underwhelming including the dessert, but my company ordered a great tasting entree and the desert was great too. Even her drink was better than mine. We ventured here with friends for my birthday outing. We all live in East Cobb and my best friend, who's lived here her entire life, found this place for the first time recently and raved about it. It's certainly better than your hole in the wall Mexican and I would even consider it a tad more upscale. Great atmosphere inside and plenty of room for outdoors fun. We sat outside and our waitress was great. Chips and salsa came fast. The chips were non-greasy and the salsa had a nice flavor. The queso w/ jalapeños was amazing! We also had their version of Mexican street corn, which was unique and served on the cobb. My only moot point would be that the taco special could only be ordered as a same-set 3 and you couldn't switch them up. However, my fish tacos were good! Overall, it was a nice experience. We were driving around the Sprayberry High School area, looking for a Mexican restaurant for a late lunch, while running errands. We happened upon Zama, and gave it a shot. Jenny, our waitress was a doll! She was very attentive and very quick to meet all of our requests. She made our guacamole perfectly. In fact, it was better than my own! Their salsa had a nice smokey flavor. My chicken quesadilla with spinach and mushrooms was just how I like it. Hub's taco al pastor was good, and his pinto beans were cooked in the pork au jus. It was killer! When we finished, we were welcomed by Maria, the area manager, who brought us a complimentary plate of sopapillas decorated with "Welcome!", and a coupon for any free appetizer on our next visit. I love Zama! Delicious Mexican cuisine in a beautiful restaurant. The atmosphere is lovely. The music is always on point! I really love the grilled shrimp tacos with pico de gallo and avocado slices. There is also a spicy Cozumel option but I have yet to try it. The caldo de pollo (chicken soup) is my favorite in the city. Super flavorful and filling. I highly recommend the $8.99 lunch specials from 11am to 3pm. Such a great deal! I truly try to stay open minded, but I'm having a hard time with this place. Firstly, this is NOT Mexican cuisine. There are elements of it on the menu, but by and large this is Tex-mex and I know what Tex-mex is from having spent half my life on the border. I'm not going to tell you what you should do, but we shall not be back. There just wasn't anything to inspire me to return. It's noisy - very. And I don't mean loud, I mean unnecessarily noisy. The other part is, while I don't begrudge anyone their libation, the first several pages of their online only menu was nothing but that. I guess I expect too much. I like my glass filled more than once. I like to be able to converse with my table mates. I like to finish my meal and remember good flavours. None of that happened here. So, good luck if you like it - we just didn't and, as a group, we've decided that when we meet up for our Friday night fiestas this just won't be the place - ever. read more

I've been a loyal customer of Zama for many years. I've referred many friends. Tonight we ordered a pitcher of Skinny Margaritas. The margaritas were average at best. We did not get many glasses out of the pitcher at it was mostly ice. The worst part was the cost $67.99 for the pitcher!! WHAT?!?!?! They were nowhere near worth $68. No price on the menu either. When my friend questioned it with the staff AND the manager, NOTHING was done. The manager argued with my friend. She said it was 'better' tequila and squeezed limes. Her body language was aggressive. She offered no compensation to my friend. Zero. Nothing. First, the price should be listed on the menu. Second, I have no way to prove what type of tequila they used, but it did not taste top shelf like they claimed. I've had a lot of margaritas this was nothing special and way, way, way overpriced. I've gotten pitchers before there nowhere near this cost. The manager offering a gift card for $10 or $20 would have gone a long way. I won't return to Zama. I felt ripped off. I will make sure to tell everyone about this situation. It was my friend's first time there and she won't return. And she will make sure to tell others about her experience. First time at Zamia's Mexican Cuisine and what a great experience! Came with a group of 8, and waited 40 minutes for a table. Totally worth it. We ordered fish tacos, shrimp tacos, taco salad, enchiladas, brisket poblano peppers and taquitos. Everything was excellent. Another Tuesday which means the opportunity to try a new Taco spot. After a visit to Ax Therapy my sister found this location and we decided to partake. Upon walking in we were greeted by 3 welcoming smiles. The hostess staff was amazing and set a very upbeat vibe for me as a new patron of this establishment. The establishment was very clean. I'm talking clean floors, clean tables, and most of all, a clean entry area. You can tell that the staff works together to keep the place tidy. We were seated immediately as the location is huge which is an added bonus. Our waiter, Alex, arrived to the table and greeted us with a smile and welcomed us to Zamas. This was our second "Welcome to Zamas" of the night so you know my Customer Service Radar was super HAPPY! After his welcome he made some drink recommendations and took our drink order. He listened and ensured to repeat our order back to us. Bonus points for Alex! The menu provides an assortment of Mexican goodies. It was literally a page after page of ooh's and aah's. LoL! Trust me, it's something for everyone. Let's talk Food: Chips and Salsa- The chips taste homemade and are perfectly crisp and come with an amazing salsa. I would suggest asking for an extra salsa as it's so good you will want to add it to everything. Spoiler alert, I used It for my appetizer and entree as well. LoL! Appetizer- Pulled Chicken Empanada. Perfectly Golden. Super Meaty. Great portion. Not as seasoned as I would have liked, but not bland either. Entree- Southern Chicken Tacos. Babeeeeeeeeee. The chicken inside these tacos are Southern Fried to Golden Perfection. The meat is moist and meaty like chicken should be and the chunks are fried to a perfect finish of a crispy outside and poultry perfection inside. Paired with the toppings, this dish is Taco Goodness Amplified. Yeah! I'm coming back for these. Each Taco is filled with meat. There is no shortage of meat inside like most places and the presentation provides an added sense of satisfaction as the layers are placed perfectly for maximum bite satisfaction. Ummmmmm, Tacos! Overall, this was an amazing experience and I would recommend anyone who likes Mexican to drop by when in the area. Our waiter checked on us during our stay at perfect intervals.
