Tasty Middle Eastern place on Kingsway. Parking is available on Kingsway, as well as the side streets. The place is pretty bare bones. Grey walls, and a TV. The place is set up more for takeout, and gets pretty busy around dinner time. Staff are friendly. No complaints. The portion sizes here are surprisingly large. They use takeout containers, but they pile the food up real nice. Buddy and I were both pleasantly surprised. Special mention. The lamb shawarma was pretty tasty. Served with regular salad (lettuce), a pile of tabbouleh (parsley salad), other toppings such as pickles and jalapenos, and some pita and hummus. I did not leave hungry. Great value, great price. We were regular customers at this place for a while, but after today's experience i will not be back. I can not handle spice well and even after asking 2x not to put spicy sauce on, my husband brought home both dinners hosed with spicy sauce. It was totally inedible and I got an instant headache after giving it a try. Portion of meat was visibly smaller than what we usually get and also we did not get any extras (we used to get pickled vegies) besides plain salad with only couple of cucumber slices. Hummus was still good, but not enough to make up for lost dinner.I am very dissspointed and most likely won't be returning to this location anytime soon. This place is great. We are visiting from Arizona. We need a break from all the Asian options in the area, but struggling to find something that looks "normal" enough for our group (3 families with a bunch of picky little kids). Amazing deal for the food quality. It's got less variety than the usual place I go to in terms of ingredients, spreads and sauces to pick from. They're more on the traditional style (they don't grill and no cheese option). We dropped in on a Thursday evening (around 7:45pm) and it was empty. There's a couple tables to sit at but it's mostly barren inside. The menu is up on their TV screens; plates, wraps and sides. Short and sweet. - Pita - two pieces to add some filler to our dishes. - Falafel platter ($9.99) - four pieces of falafel, taboulleh and green salad. Wish that they gave you a dollop of rice but there's only hummus underneath the falafel balls. Falafel had a light, crispy texture. The food was great - we came here on a friday night at around 9pm, ordered chicken shawarma and falafel platters. The platters didn't seem like it was a lot of food but it was actually quite filling. Their hummus was a bit spicier than my liking but overall the food was fresh and delicious. Their service was also quite fast. The only complaint I have is that I wish for eat in option, they didnt use the takeout containers. But I understand that this assists with the quick turnover they may require during busier times. Chicken shawarma was great, I especially enjoyed that this dish came with a section of hummus, a side salad and rice with the chicken on top. I am always a big fan of rice and this rice was made well - soft and fluffy! Falafel was great as well! There wasn't rice with this dish but had a lot of hummus with paprika, 4 falafel rings on top, a side salad, and another salad that was more vinegar/ tangy tasting. I enjoyed both salads and the falafel was made well! Both platters come with pita breads! We ordered, ate and paid at the desk after our meal. We also ordered a can of pop and they gave that to us on the house as we were first time visitors. Overall amazing service and great food! Kingsway and Victoria has just gotten another jewel in it's restaurant area crown. ZamZam Grill, an An amazing middle eastern place just opened up and not a moment too soon. They have only been open for one month. I noticed the sign as we were driving past last weekend and knew I had to go back and try it soon. We ordered the falafel plate and chicken shawarma plate. The falafel are made fresh and in the shape of a doughnut so they are crispy all around! Great spices and the rice that comes with the chicken shawarma plate was so fluffy and nicely spiced, hint of cinnamon or some warm spices. My only issue was a little too much salad dressing on the salad so next time I will tell him to add less dressing but otherwise fantastic meal. And it's not just lettuce like some places but lots of cucumber and tomato. The tabouli salad is next level also. We easily found parking across the street at 6:30 pm on a Wednesday. Can't wait to come back here, I want to try a wrap next time or the chicken salad, which is the chicken shawarma on a bed of salad. We need to talk about the Falafel here.. Having studied in New York City where I enjoyed having amazing falafels, I'm always a little skeptical of trying these appetizers at eateries BUT Zamzam makes it fresh and makes it right.. they served it right out of the fryer and it was crazy crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The sauce that accompanied it was also light and deliciously complementary. We also ordered the chicken shawarma wrap and chicken shawarma platter. I was not a fan of the chicken because I found it a tad dry and had to use alot of muscle to chew on it. I'll admit i prefer easier eats. However, I do want to mention the hummus that came with their flatbread.. amazing! It was creamy and soft and just so yummy. Hummus is another thing that I am so so particular about. Overall, it's a small space but the guys attending to us were sweet and given the whole covid situation, I 100% appreciated the hand sanitizer they provided and recyclable containers. Will I return? Nothing authentic about this place. The guy behind the counter made my wrap in less than a minute he took the chicken out of a warming pan and not off the spit even though the spit looked like the meat looked like it was ready to go. All he needed to do was cut it off. Also, when I tried to eat the wrap, it started to fall apart immediately. He couldn't even wrap it tight enough or properly. By the time I got to the end of it it all fallen out of the bottom and I didn't eat the last third of it anyways. The place was empty. Nobody else there and he couldn't take the time to make it properly. No chance I will ever go back there one out of five stars if they're lucky. I just got take out with my wife and I am so happy to have discovered this neighbourhood shawarma joint! I got the chicken plate and the beef wrap and they were both phenomenol. The meat were tender, juicy, and flavored perfectly, the rice was fragrant and had the right texture, and the veggies were all fresh and crisp. This is a perfect example of how a restaurant excels from the pack when they focus on what they do best. In addition to the food, the service was phenomenol.
