If you are looking for a more alternative cut, I do NOT recommend Zante. They are for straight edge cuts and balayages ONLY. I went in asking a stylist if they could cut my hair a certain way, and showed them a reference. When they said they could do it, I trusted them. The stylist said they were completely comfortable doing my hair in that style. After the cut was done, my hair was so botched I had to shave it all off because it was completely unfixable and incredibly short. I had to restart my regrowth process after growing my hair past shoulder length for that specific cut. Not only this, but my friend came in asking for a cut, and was given MICRO BANGS after asking for a long side fringe. What was incredibly stupid was how expensive this place is for a cut, claiming to be professional only to give you a hair cut you'd receive at super cuts for 20 bucks and a bald spot. NOT ONLY when I called Zante asking for to talk with the owner about next steps, my hair stylist left me a voicemail and INSULTED ME and BLAMED me for a botched ass cut. Quit while your ahead Scott. Bottom line up front: Had to wait over 50 minutes after my scheduled appointment due to their stylist bailing on the appointment (customers who had appointments later than mine went before me), hair was cut entirely dry while standing up (this was a first), stylist apparently did not know how to cut long mens hair, and tried to dissuade me when I asked for additional trimming. By far the goofiest/worst haircut I've had since I stopped using just clippers. Cashier would not even look up at me during the transaction after. Read the reviews, trust your gut. Typically people who leave reviews either had a great experience, a terrible experience, or were paid to leave a review. But when multiple reviews have common threads amongst them, it might actually be the store itself. I made the appointment over phone about 4-5 days prior, for a Saturday appointment around noon time. I walked in and there was no one at the front desk- no worries, Saturdays can be busy . Make eye contact with the two stylists present who turn back to their clients without acknowledging/greeting me waiting at the desk- again, saturdays can be busy.. Eventually the receptionist comes inside and checks in me, informing me the stylist I'd asked for is running late so another stylist would cut my hair since they were finishing up- busy Saturdays right? After over 45 minutes later I'm still waiting to be taken back, when another customer walked in for their appointment 45 minutes after mine. The receptionist checked them in, and a stylist immediately walked up to greet him and walk him back to the chair. Almost an hour after my appointment was scheduled, I finally get taken to the chair to discuss with the stylist what I wanted. Because she was running behind, she seemed distracted cleaning up after her last client and so didn't really hear how I wanted my hair to be done. Asks me to stand up so she can figure out a good length, and while I'm *standing* proceeds to just start cutting my completely dry hair for almost 10 minutes (I've never experienced, heard of or seen this before). I sit back down and she continues (on my still completely dry hair) for another 30-40 minutes behind finally walking me back to wash my hair. We go back to the chair after the wash and she doesn't do any further trimming- but rather just blow dries it and asks if I want my sideburns trimmed. She does the normal sideburn touch up around mid-ear, and then goes well above the ear up to the forehead and shaves off a good 1-2 inches into the hair line. Folks, there is 'cleaning up the sideburns', and then there is 'starting but not finish a fade'. At this point I just want out of there, but the stylist keeps trying to push their hair treatments and facial hair trimming for a shiny upcharge, which I had already shown zero interest in when pitched earlier. I look like a fluffy blonde coconut with the worst bangs I never wanted in the first place and a middle-schooler attempted fade, and go to pay and leave. The woman working the cash register (different than initial receptionist) does not look up at me during the entire transaction, and after $45+tip I'm finally freed from haircut hell. This is the only time I've needed to get a second hair cut just to remove the damage from the first one. $20 and about an hour later and my hair doesn't look terrible. Finally. (Reviewers note: This is mostly a reflection of the hair stylist and the company for having such poor management of time and customer service. They didn't offer anything to compensate my wasted time besides a cup of warm stale coffee. Even a $5 discount would have help salve the experience. I received a gift certificate for a pedicure from a friend. My experience was not the best. I felt like the technician was in a hurry and not happy about doing her job. She spoke to me maybe twice. Wasn't friendly at all. My polish job is terrible! Polish all over my cuticles and skin and some of the sides of my toe nails have no polish. If I had paid for the pedicure myself I would have been very upset. I feel bad for my friend that did pay for it wanting to treat me at a " nice salon". Very disappointed and won't be back. I'll be taking the polish off and redoing it myself at home. Pretty pointless! read more

What a disappointment. There was very minimal to non existent communication between the stylist and receptionist, I called to make an appointment and they 'luckily' had an opening due to a cancellation because of the ice at 3:15pm. I hopped in my car and braved the snow and ice, I arrived promptly at 3:08pm to ensure I was respecting their time but I waited there until 3:40pm without any explanation of expected completion of the previous client. Never will I go here again. First haircut in Oregon and I got a chop job. Had Erica and I asked to taper the front. I got a chop job instead... The front was just chopped. Looks terrible. On top of it I got an insulting message from Erica after I wrote this review. That being said, I called Zante after receiving the message, and requested my money back. I will say that the management staff were extremely nice and refunded me. Bridgette in particular actually called me after seeing this review asking to make things right. I just thought I would let it go on the basis that Erica just didn't know how to cut my hair. However when I received the insulting message I felt that I should not have to deal with a bad hair cut plus be harassed. I have since talked to people I know locally who have said they use Bridgette and she is very good so I'm not saying that Zante is bad overall but I just did not have a good experience with Erica. I would have paid twice the price to get what I ordered. I am always confident in any store that has the Aveda brand on it... maybe not anymore. I am here trying to dress up for my wife on our 9 year anniversary. I had only 2 requests before I came in. That they ONLY use a razor and texturizing scissors (NO CLIPPERS). Sierra said "no problem", I clarified and asked again "so your saying the stylist will only use those two items (not a tall order), she said "yes of course!". I checked in one more time (a total of 3) before coming in and asked yet again, "did you speak to the stylist and is my request ok? This is a really special night." she says "Yup! All good" Sadly in this case, as nice as Anthony (the stylist) was, apparently he wasn't informed of my request and didn't have the tools needed to do the job and had the clippers in the image. No problem, I mentioned my many requests to Sierra to him and thought we were good. He grabbed a razor and off we went. Unfortunately I was not only double booked but there were no texturizing scissors so he was unable to finish my hair for such a big night. I paid, tipped (standard amount) and walked out the door and into another salon paid another $40.00 for them to finish the job. I usually don't like to write reviews but I am very disappointed with my service. I called to make an appointment and let them know I have long hair that needs a trim. Cost was $60 but when I checked out it was $90. $30 for "long" hair seems absurd and I would have never done that had I known. I tried to contact the manager and never heard back. Last time I went there with long hair there was no extra charge. My hair is ok but not worth that. read more

It is the day of the wedding and all the groomsmen (my boyfriend included) are having some "guy time". So naturally I take the opportunity to get some "girl time" at Zante's Salon and Spa, a downtown Aveda Salon and Spa. My walk-in appointment was handled great over the phone and I was able to show up within the hour for a pedicure. When I arrived the salon and spa receptionist offered me hot tea. Clean and stylish, it seemed all the stations were busy. I waited in the appointment room and after about 10 minutes, Tracy (sp?) greeted me and we went into a private pedicure room. I chose a wonderful soft pink OPI nail polish and then the pampering began! Soak, scrub, detoxifying foot mask, paraffin wax treatment, and foot massage with rose essential oil. I was able to relax with my tea and genuine conversation with Tracy as well as leave with a professional pedicure! Since we usually walk everywhere when we visit Bend, having a polish and moment to myself was well worth the money. I hope to go back soon! read more

Do not go to Christina Jackson! After 2 years of going to her, I became suspicious because her charges always varied (for the same service!). So I reviewed my financial statements, and realized she was adding on big tips to herself, even after I left her tips in the final receipt! She was basically scamming me. There are no prices listed, so the stylist can cheat you if she wants. I had nothing to compare her charges to because no prices were posted. Over 2 years, I spent at least $900-$1000 there, but they won't be getting any more of my money. Mostly I got dye jobs and stylings at my appointments, but the one haircut I did with her was the worst cut I've ever had. I'm not saying Zante is bad overall. It may be a good salon. We came in to purchase some Aveda products, we were greeted with less than a flutter of an eyelash. I didn't think anything of it as we weren't planning on staying long. Most recently, I called to make appts with the salon for my 8 bridesmaids to come in and have our hair done. All of us are open to different timings and very relaxed about everything. I gave every last detail of when the wedding was, times, dates, etc. Told that no one else was on the books for this day. However, the woman on the phone said she would have to give me a call back. Over a week later, I have not received a call back. I called today and was rudely and unapologetically told that it was "really early to book out that far" and yet, that day was already booked by another wedding. Again, told we would get a call back, but it wouldn't be for a few more days. After getting the run around for the 3rd time, I think we will go elsewhere. Unreal how they would turn their heads away from so much business. I suppose that is why the reviews are already so mixed. read more

RUN! Cancel your appointment and go anywhere else. I was scheduled for a cut and color...with a barber, I never thought to ask if he was qualified. I walked out a redhead with 4 " layers on the back of my head. I went in blonde, with the color formula, and told him NO red, no layers. 4 hours later I walked out with wet, red hair, in tears. oh man this is a good one! The Mama-in-law and I had 90 minute warm stone massages here and they were oh so nice. The staff was friendly and inviting. Mom-in-law went first so I hung in the steam room for a good amount of time and man was I ever ready for that massage. When my turn came I met the masseuse and off we went to relaxation heaven:) She pulled my legs which felt really good and loosened my tense muscles before the stones came in to play. She really focused on my problem areas and managed to relieve much tension on my neck and back. It is thus far the best massage I have had to date kudos! Zante is fantastic! Julie K. is the only person I have ever gone to that can do color so that it looks natural. I really don't like the stripey, "hey, I just got my hair colored!" look and Julie is a serious pro. I usually can't even tell when it's growing out. That's how good she is. She takes her work very seriously and is compelled to do an excellent job. I always leave grinning from ear to ear. And the Aveda products...my hair has never looked better and I literally don't do much to it. I don't even wash or brush it that often and it still looks amazing. That's what a good cut, color and products will do. I too, thought it looked a little "snooty" when I walked in for the first time, but I assure you they are all regular people. read more

WORST SALON EVER! Bend residents and visitors BEWARE! After giving this place numerous attempts I have decided to for warn others of the dangers of going to this salon. My first experience was hair color that washed out after two showers. This is horrible because I use Aveda shampoo/conditioner. The next experience with this salon led to 4 inches of my healthy blond locks getting lobbed off with one side longer than the other, totally uneven! Seriously the most horrendous hair cut of my life! When I went back to get a complimentary "fix" for the hair cut things got evened out via lobbing off another 2 inches. Ashamed and upset, I left without grabbing my rings from the hairstylist, who removed them to give a hand massage. I flew out to visit my family the next day. Upon remembering my rings, I called the salon to make sure they had them, one of which was my Grandmother's who has passed away, and they said that they would keep them for me. When I returned from my visit I went in to collect my rings and they were NO WHERE to be found! They lost my rings and were very, VERY rude about the whole ordeal! I had the sweetest lady do my hair and at first it wasn't that bad I walked out without a problem I figured it would take two times to get right. Now I have to admit my mother owns a salon in Washington DC and I wanted to convince myself it wasn't that bad. The next day I showered and oh my it was orange with really dark roots. Not at all what i wanted. I have dark hair but stylists have always been able to lighten my roots without bleach. I was sooo embarrassed I called and cancelled my appointment. I sought advice from my mother and found out I need to go dark or correction color which is pricey. I am used to pricey but this is so upsetting I just did not want to go back at all. I called to let them know never to put anyone with Angela for any type of brunette to blonde and all I got was a ok. That's it's no sorry nothing! So unprofessional. I came here to get an HOMBRE. Instead she gave me big stripes of yellow at the root. The opposite of what we discussed. Management was very unhelpful, their only solution to my hair was to have the same hairstylist fix my hair?! This review is in regarding my sister's color appointment. My sister is a mother of 2 young children and rarely spends money or time on herself so for her to actually go to a salon is a big deal, but it was her birthday so she wanted to get pampered & was going out with friends afterwards to celebrate. She went in with an inspiration picture & left with..I'm not even sure how to put into words what she left with!!! She spend 4 hours there & over $250! She immediately put her hair up in a bun so no one could see it & cancelled her birthday dinner and went home & cried all night!! I, as the protectively older sister and I'm also a Guest Service Expert at an Elite salon on the coast was very upset about the entire process. I called & spoke to Chris. She was very understanding & helpful. She told me that they would do a redo at no charge. Perfect! That's what I wanted! My sister called the salon and made the appointment. The salon called her back to reschedule and they let her know that there would be an additional charge. So she cancelled the appointment when to Sally's beauty bought dark hair color and covered her hair in it. I called again & spoke to Ashley & again Chris who said it was a miscommunication on the salons end and that they would again book a redo, which was out of the question since my sister had got so frustrated she went back to dark already. I asked for a partial refund, Chris said she was passing it on to a different employee and would speak to the owner. I never got a call back!! Completely not how things should be done!! Can't...even...express...how happy I am!!! I moved to Bend from Portland in June and got my hair cut and colored right before I left in preparation for going on a search for a new stylist. I had been going to the same stylist in Portland for 8 years so I was a little rusty.... I went straight to Yelp (obvs) and starting reading... My former stylist had worked at an Aveda salon so I was naturally drawn to Zante. I called looking to book something sooner rather than later and was not disappointed. I was told they had a new stylist by the name of Jessica, who had some openings and I could come in the next morning! Turns out Jessica had also worked at an Aveda salon in Portland so I was feeling pretty good about the chance I was about to take... I arrived and was greeted by two super friendly people behind the desk. I was asked if I wanted water, tea or coffee and started perusing the Aveda products for sale while I waited for Jessica. She arrived promptly and gave me a professional and warm greeting. She took me back to her chair and listened as I went on and on and on and on and... about my whole life hair story. I actually brought pictures of haircuts that I did NOT want and she said that they were helpful (score me!). We talked color and then we were off. Fast forward to the end and I could not be happier. Seriously, better than my stylist of 8 years!! I couldn't believe it. It was the first time a stylist gave me EXACLTY what I wanted and I didn't have to go home and rewash and style it. I'm still in awe and soooooooo happy. Perfect cut (blunt bob on fine hair no less!!) and awesome highlights (and by awesome I mean I look pretty much like a natural blonde). I must say I'm very disappointed with my experience - or rather, lack of experience - with this salon. I booked an airbrush tan appointment weeks in advance in preparation of my honeymoon. Someone from the salon called me 30 minutes before my appointment - Friday evening once everything else was closed mind you - to let me know that they had to cancel my appointment, with no explanation. They said they could rebook me the next morning - too late, my flight was first thing. I called back 3 times to try and figure out the situation, finally leaving a desperate voicemail. No one returned my call. To be stood up for an anticipated appointment, well that is always disappointing. But the night before your honeymoon? Zante doesn't place much importance on their customers, which is very sad considering they're in the service industry. I will be visiting Bellezza for all of my beauty needs from now on - Lisa came to my rescue and opened her salon late on a Friday night to get me honeymoon-ready. After seeing some of these negative reviews, I had to say something. I've been coming to Zante for about 2 years, getting my eyebrows waxed and getting Brazilian Blowouts. I've always been warmly greeted, given some tea or coffee, and had pleasant conversation with the receptionists. I have never had a wax, or blowout, as a matter of fact, I'd say they were exceptional. I'm getting a Brazilian Blowout for my honeymoon in July and I'm already looking forward to it. They always remember my name and things about my life. Did I mention I also booked them to do my wedding hair/trial in April/July?That's how much I trust them and appreciate their consistency and results. I was a faithful Zante customer (not that anyone noticed or cared -I always felt like an outsider and not a regular at Zante) for almost 2 years ... for bikini waxes and hair. Not anymore. The aesthetician I saw regularly (and loved loved loved) is no longer there and about the same time, I received a call that my hair stylist was unavailable for the appointment I booked 2 months out (because I was going on vacation and HELLO ROOTS!) and couldn't get me in before I left. I'm not even sure if my stylist is even there? She didn't contact me directly, someone up front called and didn't even apologize or try to get me in with someone else. I was recently looking to make an appointment at Zante when I can across some less than flattering reviews and decided it was about time I put in my experience. Over the last year I went from long black hair passed my shoulders to a tight cropped Mia Farrow-esque pixies. This was after doing some at home experimentations of my own and basically bleaching my hair into oblivion (not recommended). As tramatic as the experience was Chad made the entire thing as easy as possible. My first chop actually required two haircuts, the "I'm not sure how short I want to go" to the "let's just chop it all off!" Throughout all of this Chad was incredibly patient and very good at interpreting my "vision" which can change all too quickly after surfing Pinterest for too long. While having high expectations for my hair I also am blessed with no physical skill with styling. That too was not a problem, as after briefly mentioning wanting to learn to finger wave my new cut he had a diy video researched and prepared by my next visit. Since I have been growing out my hair Chad has been there to trim and thin any little neurotic spot I point out on my visits leaving me with hardly any in between stage. I spent a lot of time looking for a stylist when I moved here through much trial and error. Chad is a considerate and creative stylist with the skill and ability to interpret my wild visions of hair into an actual reality while also taking my daily routine and lifestyle into consideration.
