It's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get ahold of any department (I was calling nearly all of them). And the only department that picked up was Finishline. Jose from this department helped me immensely trying to wrangle the women's shoe department, calling me back to check on my inquiry when I called towards closing and was waiting for a call back from the department I was really trying to reach. I had to do my entire purchase over the phone, as this store was the only store to have the shoe I wanted in my size (I live in a different state), and I needed it ASAP for a special event. Since I called towards closing, I was supposed to get a call back. The women's shoe department failed to do so, so I called finishline again the next day (took me them an hour to pick up). It just felt like a lot of teeth pulling, but finishline and the manager of the men's department (Leticia I think but I don't remember I'm so sorry!) were really trying so hard to get the right apartment together (they physically had to run up stairs to communicate to them)! Super sorry I inconvenienced all the wrong departments, but I am immensely grateful for them! I got my shoes in time. Thank you! But please fix your phones at the cash registers or tell corporate to change the messaging in the automated phones because it was super frustrating spending hours trying to ring a phone.

Nordstrom is still my go-to department store because it's convenient, consistently carries the brands and style I wear, and the customer service outside of cosmetics has always been excellent. It's the first place I think of when I need clothing, shoes, or gifts. That said, the beauty department has become incredibly frustrating. I completely understand that many of the makeup associates work on commission, and I genuinely respect that they're doing their jobs. But there is a huge difference between being available to help and making customers feel like they can't exist in the department without being approached. Every time I walk through the makeup area, I can barely look at a product before someone is asking if I need help. If I say "I'm just browsing," another associate from a different brand approaches me literally seconds later. Then another. Then another. It gets to the point where I'm being interrupted every few steps. Instead of enjoying the experience, I feel anxious and rushed. I don't get to compare products or discover something on my own because I'm constantly trying to politely decline conversations. It honestly feels less like shopping and more like running a gauntlet. Ironically, the constant pressure makes me want to spend **less**, not more. I've actually skipped buying products because I just wanted to get out of that section as quickly as possible. I still love Nordstrom and will continue shopping here because it's my favorite department store and has everything I'm looking for. I just wish the beauty department adopted a more relaxed approach. Customers should be able to browse comfortably and ask for help when they're ready--not feel like they're being followed every few seconds.

Zara's return policy is the worst I've ever encountered from any retailer. I ordered black biker pants for my nephew for Christmas from Zara.com. He opened them on Christmas Day and they didn't fit. My sister attempted twice to return them to Zara stores in the Chicago area. All the tags and packaging were with the pants, including the invoice attached to the original packaging. Zara stores refused the return, even though all necessary information was available. My sister hassled with Zara Customer Service by telephone. After several fruitless calls, finally she was informed that a special 4-digit code was necessary, that was on my original email order invoice. This four digit code wasn't on any of the other tags or invoices and no one told her about it for weeks. They just refused to accept the return without giving a logical reason for the refusal. Once she extracted the necessary information from unhelpful and clueless Customer Service representatives, I emailed the original invoice to my sister. Then she was told that she couldn't return the pants because the 30 day time limit was up, despite all her previous attempts and phone calls. She managed to get an extension and was told to mail the pants back to Zara. I received an email from Zara saying that my credit card would receive a refund. Then today I received a phone call from Zara.com, informing me that my sister had to return the pants in person to a Chicago store by close of business today -- it was already 12:30 pm Chicago time when I received the call - even though Customer Service told her yesterday to mail back the pants. So she doesn't have the pants in her possession and can't do what Customer Service wants. I've filed a dispute with my credit card company. AVOID ZARA -- THEY'RE CROOKS! ALSO, IF YOU CHECK WIKIPEDIA, YOU WILL SEE THAT ZARA IS BEEN CHARGED WITH ABUSIVE LABOR PRACTICES IN EUROPE. THEIR METHOD OF TREATING EMPLOYEES IS CALLED 'MANAGEMENT BY FEAR'. THERE OTHER FAST FASHION CHOICES THAT TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS AND EMPLOYEES WITH RESPECT SO LET'S BEAR THAT IN MIND. read more

I'm a die hard Zara fan, when I saw they were opening a store on Michigan Av. I couldn't wait; on opening day I was there despite the piss poor weather. Alas, my first visit was a disappointment. At first I thought the problem was the collection, which seemed downright mediocre, but I've been back since then and found some pretty amazing things, like gorgeous silk blouses for ok prices (they may look flimsy, but they are not- I speak from experience). After my second visit I think the problem with the store is the lighting- if I were them I would seriously consider adding more lights; there is no point in having great things if nobody can see them. Nothing stands out because there is not enough light to see anything! Add to that that the space is limited and the racks are too close together and shopping becomes a less than great experience. Still, I know I will be back. Zara's clothes are trendy, but not so much that what you buy will look ridiculous in a month, they're durable, and although they are not H&M cheap, they are not expensive either, and given how long pieces last, the money I've spent there has been worth it every time. read more

BEWARE: They sometimes conveniently "forget" to put American pricing on many of their items so when you go up to pay it's much more than what is on the tag. The tag will show a European price which at quick glance is probably $20-30 less than what you think the price is. Very sneaky and misleading. I recently purchased some shoes and didn't realize that the price on the tag was a Euro price so I thought the price of the shoes was 35.95. Since Zara has been super busy lately I ran in and grabbed the shoes and did not notice the Euro symbol. The price was 35.95 and the conversion amount should have been 42.61 but they charged me over $60 for a pair of shoes. When I asked about this I was told not to trust the Euro price because it's not accurate. So basically they are overcharging customers for each item and falsely advertising them as well. VERY, VERY illegal practices in my opinion. read more

This Zara store in Chicago is so nice. They have selection for men, women, and kids. The clothing designs here are beautiful and I feel like you cannot find the same clothes in other Zaras. This is always my preferred Zara when I go. Very easy to shop with how they display everything and have so many options because of how huge the store is. The store is clean and organized despite how many people come in everyday. I would think their rating would be higher than what it is. The service can be a hit or miss because of how big the store is and how many employees are needed. Overall, I always have a positive experience and their clothes last forever. Love Zara!! read more

Uniqlo has a lot of graphic tees that i like so i knew i could find something affordable that i would want to wear again. I also knew that if i didnt wear it and wanted to return it, i wouldnt have a problem because we also have a few stores in my hometown that were fairly easy to get to. Typically when im in japan, i will also shop at uniqlo to take advantage of the tax free if you spend over a certain amount. Just be careful, a size large at uniqlo japan is not the same as a size large in the US. Usually i need to go one size larger in japan.

Another 4 days later of no response or next steps I reach out and I was provided a new address to ship the item to. Notre wanted me to pay to ship the item to them again after providing me with the wrong information to start. A better way to have resolved this issue would have been to send me a prepaid shipping label with the correct address info. Alternatively they should have allowed me to return the item in store like I wanted to at the start of this request. When I asked the service agent to provide details on how they are going to make good on the error, they went dark. It's been several days and I don't anticipate ever hearing back from them. I was an evangelist for this store. Their curation of the store is great. Their customer service is atrocious. I'll spend my money at svrn.
