Went in a little before 6 (they close at 8). I found some things to try on and then was told that at around 6 that the fitting rooms were closed. There were plenty of people working there and it was 2 hours before they closed. How do you expect people to buy things if they can't try them on...a worker even asked the manager if they could let me try things and he said no. Very poor management. read more

Noticed when I got home that I was charged $69.99 for an item I didn't buy or receive... cashier must have scanned item that was on counter or in pile from fellow cashier. Went back to store Manager who refused to help me. Directed me to customer service. I have had a dozen interactions with them, sent them copies of receipt etc. They now say my case is closed and there was no mistake. So basically they are saying I'm lying. For such a large company to treat customers this way is unacceptable. The worst part is I paid with a large gift card so I cannot refuse the charge like I could on a real cc. I made returns after this event, refusing to patronize this store. Another scam. The receipt the clerk handed me didn't have any dollar figures on it... I asked "how much did you credit my account for?" clerk: "I don't know... it will show up on your statement in a few days... the computer won't show me." wow, why do you think this is? My Guy bought me a coat from the one located at block 37 come home got it out of the bag and one of the buttons popped out, so he figured he can get it fixed or can simply take it back and exchange it. Decided to take it back and exchange it at the Michigan Ave Location since they had ran out of the XS at block 37 location. Granted we got there late and almost time to close but OMGAHHHH! Perfect example of prisoners running the asylum. Lovely selection of clothes, but the people who work here are super unhelpful! I was trying to get something in a different size and the two fitting room attendants were too busy talking to each other to actually "attend" to me...so I waited awkwardly and then finally interjected. I really didn't want to be rude but this their job...do it, instead of chatting up your friend! I ended up buying a couple of items and one of them had some very slight damage from the coat hanger (it had left a stain on the white leather on the hem). I asked for a discount because shitty hangers are nobody but Zara's fault--and the guy literally just said "we don't do discounts for damaged clothes." Really? So what's your policy? Do you throw them out and refuse to make any money on them? Do you just let them clog up the store and eventually discount them a million times until somebody buys them for $5? Come on dude, act like you took math. Ask your damn manager to give me a 10% discount (because I know you can) so that your store can make 2x more money now on this item that it would be able to if you didn't sell it for the next three months. But alas, he didn't--because "betchy" is the middle name of every employee at this particular Zara. He said he'd make a note of the damage on the receipt so that if I ever wanted to return, they would accept it. After I paid, he put the receipt in the bag and I left the store--realizing only once I was down the block that he'd forgotten to make a note. I'm in a good mood because I got two really awesome pieces, but honestly the attitudes in this place need to change. Also, they need to do a better job of continuity when marking something down--I saw the same exact jumpsuit marked down to three different prices. And good luck arguing that you should pay the lowest price. "We don't do paying the lowest price at Zara." PS: I read a post here about how Zara scams people during their sales, and I have to admit that I initially didn't believe the reviewer. It's a store full of things to buy - but it's like they have no real interest in selling you these things. There are tons of workers but only one or two checking people out and they move so slow - you'd swear it's on purpose. We timed how long it took for a guy to simply buy a jacket. We were in the long line behind him. 5 minutes. The kid checking him out moved so slow it was comical. Their pice tags should include the hassle - like this sweater cost $29.99 plus 45 minutes of waiting in line watching employees not care that you're waiting. Long lines at fitting rooms while whole banks of fitting rooms are inexplicably closed. Why would a dressing room need to be closed? Bad customer service is usually just lack of attention. This is beyond that. They will go out of their way to make you have a bad experience. It's like the Ed Debevics of clothing stores. read more

It might be a company wide staffing model, but having one person on check outs and five on the floor is absurd. Every visit I spend more time in line than I do shopping & trying clothes on. That's pathetic. Additionally, everyone working there is incredibly pretentious. Heads up: you work in a clothing store, you've got nothing to be pretentious about. I HATE THIS ZARA. It's always chaos, a mess, not organized, and employees sub par. My biggest frustration has been the covid "protocols" they have been following the past two years. THEY MAKE NO SENSE. During the heavy time with covid you weren't allowed to try on the clothes in store, but were allowed to take them home to try on and return otherwise. What?! Covid gets on clothes tried on at the store but not at your house? THEN all this continued while they would allow vaccinated to shop without masks. Now today, MIGHT AS WELL BE A SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE SKIT... I went to return an online order that consisted of a very large coat and two pairs of pants. The box was about 4-5 feet long. When I got to the front of the line I was asked to empty the items from the box (bc they aren't allowed to touch outside bags or boxes). THEN after finishing at the cash register I was told to take my 4 foot long box outside to Michigan avenue and find a recycling bin to dispose of it?! WHat?!! So your workers can touch the clothes that have been all over my bare naked body but can't touch a cardboard box? YA'LL ARE MORONS and need to read the CDC guidelines and some microbiology books. read more

God forbid an employee actually speak and ask something like, "May I help you find anything?" The customer service is SO BAD, it's as if the employees have been directed to intentionally ignore customers. I love this Zara compared to the other location on State street because it is much more organized (Men's) and the selection is better. The men's section is always on the top most level. No problem. I love how generally clean the men's floor is at this location. Especially during the week. On the weekends everything is generally in shambles and In dire need of recovering, but during the week I can't believe how easy it is for me to find exactly what I need. Well, generally. I'm not the typical Zara man shopper. Meaning I have meat on my bones. So its always hit or miss on some of the pieces with me. It would really help if this store put out the largest sizes and not just all S and M sizes. It saves time for me to have to track down an associate and wait for them to tell me whether or not it comes in XL (US large). Most of the time the XL is present but I've had times when they aren't presented. The associates here do not really "sell" here. They let you do your own thing and they ring you out. I guess Zara is the kind of retailer that let's the clothes sell themselves. I love Zara and, especially, the Michigan Ave. location. This is my go-to store. My issue is the Michigan Ave. store manager, Gabby (I don't know her last name). I have had two very bad experiences with her. The first time was in October, the second time was yesterday. She is not pleasant and always seems annoyed by the store staff and customers. I hear that she's a nice person, but she's not a pleasant service provider. I know that you can't be a pushover while working in sales. However, not everyone is on a mission to get over. Nice store, well maintained, sized, and shoppable. Visuals were aesthetically pleasing and color story draws the customer in. Zara seems like a more upscale H&M, with European sizing and hip, trendy, in-season, fashion forward pieces. They offered a lot of fun nostalgic 60s fashion. Cute jackets and tees as well as dresses, denim, and dressier pieces. Prices seem pretty affordable and competitive with similar stores such as Express and H&M. T-shirts around $17, while a faux leather jacket was around $120. The dressing rooms were upstairs and were similar to H&M with a curtain. I wasn't really checked on in the fitting rooms and I never had an associate offer me assistance or greet us while shopping throughout the store. I was really just browsing and didn't need help but if I was on a shopping mission, it would be nice to know that the service would be there. Overall, nice, well-maintained store with trendy fashion forward pieces at affordable prices but service doesn't seem to be the epicenter of priority. read more

Every time I go into a Zara I am completely ignored by employees. The service is horrible. They must be following the Abercrombie and Fitch model of rearranging clothes while you ignore customers. Lots of staff But only one person checking out customers. This may be my last time shopping there. Was on mag mile and decided to stop in at Zara even though I said I would not go back. Don't get me wrong about review... Clothes are great and they have a great sales. My beef consistently is with the service or lack there of. The other employees are always doing something else.... Like staring at an inventory list. They genuinely lack any common courtesy in being friendly or at least faking it, which costs zero. The OakBrook store is also seriously lacking in customer service. Continue to shop their sales in-spite of being ignored by the indifferent employees. A simple "hello, or can I help you with something " would go a long way. There are many employees and only 2 people on one floor checking lines of people out during their big sale. Came from out of town to get one thing. I LOVE zara but have always ordered online, and now I will forever stick to that. This Zara has 3 floors with fitting rooms on each floor. When i went, one of the fitting rooms was closed so I went to another. This line was about 40 people long and was not moving at all. I decided to go up to the mens fitting room to try on ONE pair of shorts. When I did this I was absolutely bitched out by an employee who was clearly tired of women trying to try on clothes in the mens fitting room. I decided to just buy the shorts and hope for the best but the check out line was even longer than the 40 person fitting room line so I left. I was so frustrated leaving thinking about how that worker snapped at me and other customers. If you do not want us to go to the mens fitting room, open more fitting rooms! Or atleast explain the issue in a nicer tone. On top of all of this, the store was disgusting and everything was a piled mess. To say this visit to Zara was awful is an understatement. read more

I had bought a bomber jacket for my finance over the holidays. Come to find someone else bought it for him as well. Because of COVID-19, I wasn't able to get to a store within the 30days of purchasing the jacket. However, when I did get to a store (about 33days after purchase) I was told that they couldn't accept the return In-Store but if I called a customer service number they would be able to create a return slip and I could ship it to a store for return or exchange. I left the store and called this number. They said there was nothing they could do for me. In the middle of a pandemic, I would expect a company of this size to have better return guidelines and communication with it's staff/customers. I'm disappointed in the company and don't intend on shopping here any longer. These are trying times where every $ counts and now I am stuck with a $100 jacket. read more

I purchased 4 items from them on Tuesday. Two of them were wonderful and spot on. The other two didn't fit. One dress was super short and the other skirt was too small. This would have not been the case if I would have been allowed to try the darned things on in store - but due to stupid COVID protocols - the dressing rooms are still closed. Then - I couldn't find my receipt anywhere! Usually a place allows for store credit with tags. I even brought my bank statement as proof that I purchased it and when. However, they told me I could only exchange my items for the EXACT SAME ITEM IN A DIFFERENT SIZE. I tried to reason with them explaining that a larger size in the dress would just be bigger, but not long enough! Finally, I agreed to go and find larger sizes. However, the skirt I bought was the LAST ONE. They had no more left and told me that I was out of luck. I had to eat the cost of the skirt. Even with the fact I showed them proof I purchased and they didn't have the stock. I've never been so angry with a retailers customer service. Perhaps they can get away with this horrible service with teenagers - but THIS ADULT WILL NEVER BE BACK. Mistakes happen and people lose tiny slips of paper while juggling multiple bags. My go-to store has always been Zara ever since one of my cousins introduced me to the brand. I particularly enjoy their clothing, particularly their jeans, which are extremely well-fitting and of excellent quality. Some products are pricey, yet there are a plethora of other garments and items that we can afford to purchase. Their shop also offers sales on a variety of things, with some items being discounted by as much as seventy percent. Zara's customer service has received a lot of poor feedback, but every time I go there, the lady servicing me is always extremely pleasant and friendly, they are professional, and they are truly doing a fantastic job. The items are usually so well-organized and in their proper places, it's just so pleasing to the eye; it nearly appeared as if they ironed every piece of clothing in the store, which was a pleasant surprise. The only thing that makes me a little sad is that there are times when the garments are not available in your size, even though you are in that size. read more
