Only 2 cashiers at Zara post Christmas season? Whoever schedules employees time schedule sucks

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Corporate policy is a joke. No help with returns. You can buy something and one hour later they will give you the cold shoulder. They will refuse to look up your transaction. Not sure if I would blame the employees. They are given no leeway by the company whatsoever. I've shopped at stonestown, San Jose and LA locations. Pretty surprised they would treat loyal customers this way. Do NOT shop at Zara. read more

I don't spend a lot of time shopping at physical stores, I'm often too lazy and just online shop from the comfort of my home. However this Zara location was an exceptional shopping experience for me, all of the staff were attentive and friendly. One sales associate in particular, Alice, helped me with all my shopping needs and was the most patient and kind person I've ever met. Her charm and upbeat personality lifted my mood and honestly just made my entire day. For one to review a chain retail store, it has to be a truly special experience and I can say that this was for certain. read more

Poorly staffed especially at checkout. Only one register was open and they were training. It took 30 minutes for me to checkout with one item. I was third in line. The line continued to grow but the manager never stepped into help or assist with reassigning roles. Retail stores have been hard hit as is but shopping experiences like these will only push more people stick with online shopping. read more

It saddens me to write this review because I really like the Zara brand and the staff here are generally nice. However, couple of days ago I had the worse retail experience of my life, and don't get me wrong, I shop a lot, so I have a lot of retail experience. It still baffles me thinking about this whole thing. Summary is: if you are shopping here, watch out if you need to return. Or buy items you know you don't need to return. I purchased a baby sweater from this location a week earlier, it was in the sales rack (almost everything was on sale), it didn't have the price tag on so I thought it's on sale. I purchase it with a few more items including a women sweater (which also didn't have the price tag on) and I ask the sales lady what is the retail policy, and she tells me to keep the receipt, and as long as unworn with tags on. I assume whatever I bought is fine since I wasn't going to wear them, immediately. I come home and realize the baby sweater without the tag was full price. I go back and to return it. They say it needs to have the inside tag and this sweater didn't have the inside tag (nor the price tag). I'm on the mens section, they call the mens manager, and she tells me I can't return it because **it's against their policy to sell items without the inside tag** and it's against their policy to return items without the inside tag. Now who's fault is it?? I was in shocked! especially that I had asked the sales person if I can return them! She gives me the costumer service and tells me I have to call them. She had the worse costumer service manners. didn't even apologize or try to sort it out on their side or try to show she cares at all. Then I go to the baby section, mean while I'm calling their costumer service, the sales manager tells me the same thing, but he actually takes some initiative and calls the costumer service, I give him a 1 star for that, because I had to call the costumer service anyways. After 45 min of waiting on line, finally Zara costumer service answers, they tell me the most ridiculous thing that "I need to remember who was the sales person, then the sales person has to remember me, and say yes, I sold this person this item without a tag!!!", how ridiculous is that??? i'm not gonna remember the sales person two days later, let alone a week later, and the sales person is not gonna remember me, especially in the holiday season! Seriously, if it's against their policy to sell items without tag, then put a F* tag on before selling an item. Like all the other stores do. The management especially on the mens store was just baffling, they were just passing the ball to me and making me run around circles, instead of fixing the problem on their side and being helpful, or at least pretending they care. I ask them to check the camera logs to see the sale person sold it to me without a tag, and they say they need a police warrant! This whole thing wasn't even about the money, it's about the principle, I felt they tricked me. I always thought of Zara as a big store where I can safely shop and don't worry about anything. After this experience I feel like I need to watch my back, because they would cheat me and then deny it. read more

Worst possible customer service experience. I hope their HQ sees this review, because there are serious issues at this store. Firstly, there is no sign to tell you where to pick up online purchases, so after lining up for 5+ minutes, the salesperson told me to go to the men's store. Then I wanted to get my in-store purchases recorded on the Zara app (based on a previous purchase at the store, who said I should do that, but at that time I had not downloaded the app). That person had asked me my preference prior to taking my payment but when I asked for that this time around, this (and one other) salesperson were clueless - a dire lack of training, which leads to an inconsistent customer service experience. Calling it "customer service" is actually nowhere near the definition of the term. If possible, only go to the store to view the items and then order it online and have it delivered to your home. Avoid interacting with the salespeople at all costs, unless you enjoy incompetent people. read more

I called and they told me to just take it back with the receipt and they can take it off. If the idiot would have done it in the first place, I wouldn't be in this predicament. It feels like the managers posted an ad that said, "If you are rude, unprofessional, and have no customer services skills, apply here!" The female sales associate are beyond RUDE! There were three girls who were chatting about make up at the cashier's completely ignoring customers. No "hello" and when you say "thank you" they say absolutely nothing. Yesterday one sales associate told me in a very rude manner that I should have returned my online purchase by shipping it instead of bringing to the store. Seriously? What a great customer service! Always love their selection, but today i'm rating solely on my experience that happened last night. Yesterday, while shopping and eating ice cream with my boyfriend, some guy came up to me and made rude/unsolicited comments. He said specifically "A woman like you, a woman of your caliber, shouldn't be eating in public. It's disgusting." I was so hurt and started crying. If I could give zero stars, I would. Horrible. Tried to return a jacket without the receipt and was told to call customer care who could print a new one. I called customer care and was told that they can't actually do that and we can only exchange for a different size and color. I explained my frustration that the manager in the store said they could print it as he said this has happens over and over and it was fine, however, clearly he lied. Horrible service. However, he was told not to do it by the manager literally in front of me. Zara's clothes are awesome but of course when you shop online or in Europe. I can understand why people "dislike" the sales associates here but I can also understand why they look unhappy and got an attitude... I was in the "more expensive" section and let me tell you... there were 2 associates folding the pants and cleaning up the table and in about 2 seconds, a customer threw the neatly folded pants across the table to look for her size and messed up the entire table they were working on...... frankly, anyone would be pissed about it... it wouldn't have hurt to try not to make a mess when the table was being worked on.. Me and my friends were in line to try our clothes on and a customer was yelling at an associate in the fitting room because the shirt she wanted didn't have her size available. When I say yelling, I meant YELLING while pointing her finger at the associate... she was nice enough to offer to check if her size is available online but the lady yelled at her about the shipping fee.... seriously, it's out of the associate's control... poor girl looked like she was about to cry. Next, I was about to check out so I was in line at the register. One of the cashiers was apparently being trained and let the customers know she was only taking in "purchases only". A customer got angry at her for not taking her to do a return and the cashier explained she hasn't been trained to do returns and the customer demanded to talk to a manager immediately. Seriously..... I don't know if I should blame the customers or the employees... Overall, the store is huge and has a large selection. Most employees are nice and try to be quick on their feet. But please please, know that retail is hard and respect needs to be given in order to be received. read more

I was racially profiled at this location I had a return with a receipt. Walked up to the register asked if my bag could be held was told no walked around the store picking up the items I wanted and security was called. I was asked to show them the items in my bag because I was stealing. The person I was with was accused of coming into Zara to steal all time we both had our children and to say I embarrassed is an understatement. It's hilarious seeing any bad reviews about any retail clothing store because it clearly shows that the one leaving the complaint has never ever worked retail before. Zara is a corporate fast fashion chain and their policies are very strict and don't give a shit about customers. This in turn leaves cashiers, associates, and managers in a terrible spot between a rock and a hard place because they're the ones who have to implement and explain these god awful policies and get the shit talked to them. I've worked at other retail places that do accept returns with out receipts, have been worn, damaged, etc. These spoiled ass rich people need to realize that Zara is not Nordstrom, Macy's, Target, etc. It's a greedy company whom the owner is the RICHEST MAN IN THE WORLD. I had some time to browse the mall & had always wanted to visit Zara. They offer quite a few items that are well-priced considering that it's a low end Spanish retailer like H & M. But I found the items at Zara to be a lot nicer in quality as opposed to H & M. The only negative I can comment on is that there is a huge jumble of discounted items in back. They have begun to resemble junk as the hoards of women peruse the items and leave them in a mess. I did not have any issues with the clerks. In reading earlier reviews, however, some thought that there was poor customer service. I have to agree with another reviewer who said that if the clerks seem glum it's more likely due to the disrespect (e.g. shouting, messing up the displayed clothing) given by some customers. read more

Stonestown is my neighborhood mall and I come here all the time. Never thought I had to take the time to write a review on yelp about a retail store but I just had to after what happened yesterday 8/28/19. Came to shop with my mom and my mom only speaks Chinese. As we were paying the register lady was very RBF, gave a lot of attitude, we weren't even greeted or asked how everything turned out or if our experience was good. She literally ordered us to put the stuff here and there. Ok. The incident that pushed me over the edge with this young lady is the fact when she was ringing up our stuff, a DISPLAY rollerball got caught with my mother's pants. (They have display perfumes right on the register mind you!) and she ACCUSED us of stealing. Said to my mom "I saw you put it in the pocket". My mom couldn't understand of course because she only speaks Chinese. My mom was more worried the display rollerball messed up the pants. First of all though, the pants pockets are on the SIDE. It has a Velcro to secure it! I bought those pants before and my mom liked it and wanted a pair for herself so I know. I told the young lady exactly that and there was no way she would have seen it being put into the pocket without us opening the Velcro pocket. She knew she messed up and looked dumb. I also told her that that was a really rude and disrespectful accusation for a OPENED, half used rollerball that no one even wants. She said "my bad I have to be careful". I was shocked. She didn't even say sorry fully. And she was just outright condescending. You don't accuse someone and say you SAW something when you know for a fact you didn't. Don't go accusing and assuming every customer that walks in this store is here to steal. That's just not the way to go. I frequently shop here all the time and would be the least of your concern in terms of stealing. We can afford it. What a joke. Also would be nice if Zara corporate could send someone to help better this stores customer service and attitude. Obviously you guys aren't doing proper hiring and training. Wish I got her name but she was a young asian girl wearing glasses. This was so ridiculous. If you hate your job so much, get a new one. Our first time in this location and a bad experience already. My husband was buying a blazer for $129.99 (it says on the tag). The cashier charged him $149.99 plus tax. The Store itself is nice and that's why I am giving it a 1 star but the service is horrible, no looks happy working there. I go for the clothes for sure but it would be nice to have the employees be more helpful. When I Ask a question no response and they completely ignore you or you get an attitude for asking a simple question. One employee in particular is very rude and should work in retail with that attitude. She is the tall African American girl with short hair. I stood in line for 25 min last night with only two cashiers and the line at least 20 people deep. One cashier was zipping customers through while the other took his sweet ass time. It was so frustrating and painful to watch as he SLOWLY uncensored the clothes and folded them up, giving zero F about customers. I counted the other cashier and watched her zip 5 customers through while he finished 1.5. Not acceptable if you are having a sale and 30min to closing. I was there the night of 1/19 around 8:15pm. I went in and knew exactly what I wanted and grabbed it from the rack. Went to the line with maybe 10-12 people in front. I didn't get out until 8:55. One female cashier and one male. read more

First off, Zara has a lot of cute clothing and I must say I was impressed with the children section. I ended up buying a cute sweater dress for my daughter. However, the customer service was terrible. There were two ladies working at the children section. 1. I was not acknowledge when I walked in. There were two other customers there as well. 2. They had a full blown discussion about the night prior (going out, getting drunk etc). They were clearly loud enough for me to ear hustle. 3. As soon I was done browsing, I went to the register and placed my merchandise and stood there for a few min. I finally told the them I was ready to check out. I really like staff there!! Very helpful! I had issue with choosing between two white pairs of shoes and one of the sale person helped me to pick the right one! I am so glad! Now I want to shop there every day! Also, the worker was really nice and polite, even though my request was sort of strange! I even felt like being friend with her! I would really like to! I called to check for sizes and MELISSA gave the the RUDEST customer service I've ever experienced in my life. She pretended she couldn't hear me and hung up on me three times. When I called back the final time to ask to speak to a manager because of her bad behavior she ended up claiming she was the manager was well. Great clothes, beautifully designed store but customer service is lacking. Many employees are arrogant, dismissive and completely oblivious to customers. The employees working at the checkout desk have private conversations right in front of customers (very tacky and unprofessional) and spend more time gossiping than greeting customers warmly, etc. When I asked the girl helping me checkout a question, her answers were rude and dismissive. They really need to work on improving customer service, being friendly with customers and going above and beyond to help each individual shopper. I worked at this location for six months before leaving to my current job and after reading these reviews I can't be dismissive of all the negative things being said about this particular location and the implemented policies. This is a retail store, if you have never worked retail you have no idea the stress and pressure employees are under especially for the minimum wage it pays. Most of the employees here are college students. These employees do not try to be rude or disrespectful. I have worked a variety of jobs to support myself through school and working at Zara was absolutely the most stressful job. This company is the definition of a capitalistic empire built on the business of fast fashion. The CEO of Zara is one of the richest men in the world and could care less about the individual customers. So get over yourself. The employees do NOT try to be dismissive and rude to you. The negative feedback given to you is a direct result of the negative feedback they receive after following the strict policies they have absolutely zero control over and receiving backlash. As I mentioned, these are all college students and your clothing is not at the top of their priority list. Clothing is clothing. If they do not have your size it is not the end of the world. People are frickin dying in other parts of the world for goodness sake and your worried about size small being sold out! How selfish. Finally this store is short staffed. Why is it short staffed? Because working here is stressful and for the money that it pays it is not worth it. So many employees come and go. If you don't understand try working retail for at least a month and then you will. Remember these employees are trying their best despite what you may believe. It's a consumerist capitalistic billion dollar sweatshop business. Get over yourself and your silly demands. P.S. If they have negative score I'll give it. I've been Zara shopping whenever I need buy clothing. Normally I always go to downtown area instead of stowntown area. They really need improve their customer service. We've been here shopping for the name, the brand, the quality however when you guys hire someone to handle this store must be careful cause someone they really don't care, they only care how much you pay to them. I'm not discriminated;however I have an awful experience in my whole life when I shopping here. When I bring my two kids into the shopping car come here to buy a bunch clothing for them, however There is a black lady, who is a very short hair, very rude told me you cannot bring the shopping car come to my store shopping. After I move the shopping car to the outside, I carry my two kids back to the store and bring all of the clothing I want to pay, she just don't let me buy those cloth, and told me don't buy stuff from my store, hey I'm wondering you are not the owner who give you this right to control this. So ashamed they hire this kind of people who is very unfriendly, unhelpful, unprofessional, and pay them money to help you guys run this kind of popular brand business. I own couple store too, but I'll never ever allow my employee to treat customers like this way. I love most things Zara, but customer service at this location is below par. Notably the cashier with glasses who isn't helpful or bother to resolve the issue with a return. All tags were attached with receipt. However, because I do not have the 2nd receipt in which they did a small price adjustment the day of purchase due to cashier's overcharging, she is not able to refund or even do a store credit for an item purchased less than a week's time. read more

Rude and no customer service at all. Came here at 8:25 pm, no greet at all. I was going to tried on some clothes and asked a guy associate if I can try it on, he was like you can just go ahead. After I was done, I went up to the cashier, there was no line. The cashier looked clueless as fuk when I handed him the item to pay. Asked me if I wanted a bag and I was like no. Told me the total. And this was the funny part, I was the one who said thank you and he was like you're welcome. Am I confused? because I'm purchasing something from your store and I, the customer, is saying thank you? Honestly, I had better customer service at forever21 and their clothes are way cheaper. From reading all the other yelp reviews, I'm not surprised why the workers are rude if the managers are the same. Corporate needs to step it up and train their employees and managers to have better customer service. I went zara and I usually have a nice shopping experience, but this one was pretty bad. I was shopping for my nephews birthday and called beforehand to check if the item was in stock and one male associate said it was but he didn't physically find it for me. He said he couldn't hold it for me so of course i went in. I asked a female associate who worked specifically in the kids department if this item was in stock and asked if she can find it for me, and 1. I was ignored. She helped out someone else, and made me wait until I felt uncomfortable and walked away. She would stare at me while i was browsing, but didn't come tell me or update me about the item. 2. One of the merchandisers with a scanner was walking away from me when I asked her a question. The least you can do is stop, turn around and talk to me rather than giving me an attitude and walking away. Wow... these kids have no respect. One of the guys was kind enough to offer and place an order for me, but I'll take my chances elsewhere. Please Zara managers, stop hiring incompetent and rude college students. Great merchandise. But the customer service at the Stonestown Mall location is very poor. Huge line waiting for one cashier, and 3 different employees walked behind the counter, none stopped to start helping customers. Each employee was hanging up clothes, which I realize is also important but not when the line to check out is more than 10 people long. The cashier had to call the manager to approve a return, which he did, then he looked at the line, at his clipboard and walked away. Finally the cashier called for additional help, one employee came to help, but was clearly not happy about it. My first purchase at this location, can't say I will recommend. read more

have a doctor's appointment at the nearby medical building and since I had almost a hour to kill after eating lunch I decided to walk around the mall and came upon this Zara location - of the 3 in SF this one is the neatest and most organized and the space is airy & well planned - I actually found quite a few items: a TRF (my fav) striped top, a satiny blush top with large black dots, a floral top, a thin lilac sweater and a pair of dressy pants with stripes on the sides - can't wait to wear them all with the new Betsy Johnson shoes I got at the Macy's store closing sale read more
