This store has horrible customer service, I bought a pair jeans and after the third time wearing them, they fully ripped from the back (embarrassing) store manager was rude and not helpful and asked me to send a picture and email a different department for help. Found some super cute pieces however the staff is just awful. Fitting rooms were closed even though store wasn't busy with a dozen employees working. When I was in line to check out the male employee didn't call me up and gave me a "come here" hand gesture. I have been going to the Zara in Walnut Creek for quite sometime and have been treated extremely rudely by the "short Asian manager" everybody else has been referring in their reviews as well more than once. I was returning an item, which I was told was out of season and could not be returned in a polite manner by a cashier, and I asked politely if I could speak to a manager to see if there was anything they could do. The manager was extremely rude when I asked him where the policy was written that my items could not be returned and he told me that it was on the back of the receipt and told me that I "needed glasses". Worst customer service. The girl in the mens department said the fitting rooms were closed and that they only open them at 12:00 even though the store opened at 10:00. I told her that the fitting rooms downstairs were already opened and she looked so surprised. Few seconds later we see a gentleman coming out of the fitting room . This was the 4th time since they opened that I went there and it has been a disaster as far as how long the wait at the cashier is as well as the customer service. Rude, rude, and rude. Upstairs at the baby register a sales associate told me I need to wait 3 minutes for her to count the pennies in the register. She said after 10 minutes it would take her another minute without apologizing, and when I asked her 5 minutes later if she still needs longer, she told me to go downstairs. Just rude, and no idea about customer service. This time I will ask for the manager and tell him how to hire and manage people and the way they treat their customers. Ok, I can definitely see that I'm not alone in thinking this store a huge, nasty hot mess. And I'm not talking about the interior of the store at all. It's about the management and customer service training (or lack thereof). I've had my fair share of bad experiences there, including having to stand in line for twenty minutes to check out at the register, despite the fact that there were only 4 people in front of me. I've also had salesclerks tried to have me purchase clothing for a higher price than it was currently marked multiple times. But the cherry on the cake was the awful experience my mom and cousin encountered when they were shopping here. My cousin was visiting from Taiwan and was thus understandably excited to visit California. However, she was very taken aback by how rude and condescending the salesclerks at Zara were. She tried to purchase a shirt for $9.99, but the salesclerk rang it up as $12.99. My mother politely informed the salesclerk that they had found the shirt in the sales section and even brought over another of the exact SAME shirt to show that it was marked as $9.99 (the shirt my cousin chose just happened to have no price tag). The salesclerk then had the audacity to tell my mom that the $9.99 shirt was inappropriately marked. To which my mom responded that there were plenty of other shirts of the exact same style that were all marked $9.99. She was rude enough to claim that they were all WRONGLY MARKED and that $12.99 is the sales price and that was the end of that. This is abysmal customer service and words cannot even describe how vexed I am that my cousin and mom had to experience this kind of nasty attitude. Luckily the store manager cleared up the mess and my cousin was able to purchase her shirt for the correct price, while the original salesclerk stood by and stonily watched the entire transaction. She didn't even offer an apology for her error. I wish they had taken down her name, because this kind of behavior is just unacceptable, and poorly reflects on Zara as a whole. I would caution anyone who plans to shop there, based on my family's personal experience with their store. read more

I was a regular Zara customer since early 2000; It used to be fashionable and sturdy. Right now the items are cheaply made; even those with $200 + price tag. You wear the garment once and right away it starts to fall apart. Their garments can't stand dry cleaning let alone washing machine. Save your hard earned money and time and shop somewhere else. And during sale the store looks as if it is hit by a tornado; clothes are everywhere on the floor, under the tables and most of them will be damaged. read more

Zara is one of my favorite stores to shop at however lately things have been very off. First and foremost they are way understaffed. Secondly I am tired of this company using covid as an excuse to not open fitting rooms. The company is cheap and trying to cut corners so they can have less staff to pay. This past Saturday in particular the store was filled with customers over capacity for sure and lines were excessively long. I went in today to possibly exchange or return an item from an online purchase . I couldn't tell any of the associates from regular customers, couldn't find anyone to help me at all, no one offered help anyway once I found some people . When browsing through their clothes I noticed they didn't have any items in a size larger than Medium maybe a large at most which was extremely disappointing.And the girl who took my return at the register was extremely rude . This store has the worst customer service. I bought this sweater for my 5 year old son and he had it on for two hours before it ripped along the seam of the arm. Anyone looking at this can tell it is a manufacturer defect. We went straight from my daughter's recital to exchange this at the store. Because I didn't have my receipt (I had the cc statement showing purchase proof), the store manager wouldn't even let me exchange it for the exact same item. Of course in all the holiday madness, I lost this particular receipt since I was planning to keep it. After countless phone calls to "customer service", waiting for their reply, emailing an incorrect address they provided me, more phone calls, I've given up! They are horrible! I bought baby clothes however the fit was off, they wouldn't let me exchange the items for clothes even in the same department. They told me that it has to be the same item but different size. Zara Walnut Creek doesn't even deserve 1 star but no other alternative. Dressing rooms are always closed, lines are long, employees are unknowledgeable and unfriendly. It's not a surprise that the employees have horrible customer service as their manager ( the gentleman) lacks any customer service. On top of all that the store closes at 8pm. Best to shop online that way you save time and gas; as you will need to bring items home and then take it back and wait twice in that long slow line. Save your money and time. read more

A very poorly run store. You give a GIFT and try to return but no receipt so a no go. Gift receipt wasn't offered or given. You can exchange foe SAME THING different size or color--no thanks. We wanted to GET RID of the gift as it was open on both sides like for a hooker. Not appropriate for a child!!! Finally got an exchange for a non-hooker garment. But they think they are Nordstrom's! Not even close. The quality is questionable. Hopefully, this chain will soon become history. The little "supervisor" didn't get it that another size or color for the hooker clothes was never the issue. Duh. I've been shopping at Zara all my life. I think there's something wrong with this one, not surprised after seeing all the bad reviews. I had an item I originally bought for 49$. I went to return it and they said they needed the receipt, okay. Then after a long time I found the receipt and took it back. It still had the tags on it. They said they couldn't do anything since it's too old like 4 months etc and also said it's 10 dollars now. Meanwhile the manager disappeared. When I said okay well give me the 10 dollars, the customer rep said oh no it's too old we can't do that. Hearing that made me kinda mad even though I guessed that was coming. I left the shirt there and left. Is it too hard to offer a store credit or something and not lose a customer? I guess they don't care, well I don't care to go back again either. Edit: Four months later and this store is STILL a mess. Plenty of people on the floor, but nobody behind the registers. Or if there is a long line, they might allot one person to slowly ring each customer up while the rest float around the store avoiding eye contact as they hang clothing. Do retailers really have to ask why the Brick and Mortar model is dying out? It's because your customer service sucks. Original: I absolutely adore Zara clothing and was so excited that they were opening a store in WC. However, this store--as many of the other reviewers have already stated--is a hot mess. Understaffed registers, merchandise in total disarray...and this is a few days after their after Christmas sales started. I've been shopping Zara since they came to the Bay Area and love their assortment, trendiness and style, BUT those sales people are RUDE! Particulary the middle eastern gal, she was Iranian. When asked, she said she doesn't bag the purchased cloths, that I was supposed to do it. I was so appalled. When I asked what her name was, she didn't answer. So I asked another sales person and she told me she wasn't allowed to say. I only wanted to get her name so I can report her RUDE behavior to management. This store needs to improve their process. We are in a pandemic and they should be more efficient so customers can go in and out and reduce being around people in line for over 1 hour. I had to return merchandise from Christmas but before getting inside the store, I had to wait for 45 minutes outside. It seems that there procedure is to have 10 customers exit the customer before allowing 5 customers to enter. Then, when I finally made it in the store, I had to wait another 45 minutes in line to get to the cashier. There were only 2 cashiers scheduled during this very time! I noticed that there were at least 2 salestaff walking around and 2 salestaff manning the door. At this busy time, why not add another cashier to keep the line moving and get customers out of the store and out of the line? I ask this question with the cashier and she said that none of the other salespersons on the floor are trained cashiers. Even she had problems completing my returns without asking the other cashier for help. Another concern is that the customers in line were standing 3-4 feet from each other and no sales staff was reinforcing it and the customers were not following the 6ft markers on the floor. I had to ask the customer behind me to please stay back. Needless to say, this was a very disappointing experience and I learned my lesson not to come in this store anymore. read more

Horrible customer service horrible manager! They randomly changed their house and I just had to pick up a package that I already paid for ! I explained to the "manager" or whoever he was that I didn't know they just changed their hours mind you not it was only 6:10 pm and people were still inside shopping/at register. I explained that I don't live in California and need to just pick up my package because they just emailed me that it's ready for pick up and that I have a flight to leave the next day. The "manager" told me he can't make any exceptions and that their system was already shut off for the day even though people were inside. Pretty much told me he doesn't give a shit even though it's a simple thing to just hand me my package. Now I have a paid package at their location that I am unable to pick up because I am no longer in California. They don't care for their customers CORPORATE NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. SO DISRESPECTFUL UPDATE: I just sent my friend to pick it up and she told me they didn't even have her wait in line, the employee asked for her first name and brought it out to her and that was all. AND this was done 3 minutes before they closed. So the manager easily could have done it but he clearly has some issues & something needs to be done about his attitude and poor customer service skill. read more

She literally just walks 5 steps and tells me "I don't have it." After having her call the store manager. He seemed more careless compared to the employee. Just to make a return here requires you to wait in line for at least 45 minutes. They give no instructions on where the return line is (which is upstairs) and many people inaccurately wait in the wrong line.
