Malal Boti - again pretty average. Biryani - there are better biryanis. Good thing was that it was not South Indian biryani which is worse. You can go if you are out of options for desi halal food. Sometimes the food takes a while to make but I think it's better that they take their time rather it being undercooking. Things we ordered this visit: Brain Masala: Do not over think it, order this desi delicacy and enjoy a one of a kind dish. 5 out of 5 Garlic Naan: Their Naan are soft fluffy and such prefect tandoor creations. 5 out of 5 Lamb chops: Cooked to perfection without the lamb having a weird strong taste. 5 out if 5 Malai chicken: So nicely cooked and very tender chicken bites 5 out of 5 Bhari Kabob: These were nicely minced kabobs with a good texture. 5 out of 5 Seekh kabobs (beef): Decent, I would preferred a little but more spice and flavor in these 4 out of 5 The restaurant has good seating and is nicely kept with it being clean. The staff is decent and get the order in time. The Mirchi restaurant also offers lunch buffet as well but we have only dined here for dinner and chose from the a la carte menu. Finally an Indian restaurant in Austin that lives up to the hype. Located north of Austin this is a spot that deserves all the attention when craving Indian food. If you're in the mood for authentic Indian/Pakistani food then you're looking at the right place. The extensive menu is full of options for everyone and will leave you wanting to come back for more. I would suggest dining in since this food most likely does not travel well. The food is fresh and is the prefect amount of spicy for anyone who is not a fan of spicy foods. This place a joke for a Buffett. I saw several families their paying $20 buffet for this garbage. This is my first time and the food was awful. Chicken grill was totally dried up with no taste. My husband and I wanted to get lunch somewhere today and Zaviya Grill has been on my bookmarks list for awhile, so I thought today was a good day to check this spot off my list. Ambiance: Stylish, relaxing, and convivial. Service: Attentive and friendly even in the midst of Sunday lunch rush. Food: Ohhhhhhh the food. I had a Goat Korma with rice, and my husband had the Chicken Tikka with rice and a papa naan bread. Honestly, I was expecting a vat of creamy sauce with a few small chunks of meat but what I got was far different. Large chunks of bone-in goat so tender it slid off the bone. I even got a little goat marrow bone with the marrow still intact. I could taste the cardamom and spices and while spicy wasn't so spicy that couldn't taste the meat. Melt-in-your-moth goodness. Husband said his chicken was tender, juicy and with just tue right level of spice. He mentioned the accompanying grilled onions still had a slight crunch to them indicating they were freshly grilled. He said his naan was flaky and had a nice mouth feel. I am so happy this was the place we chose to try today. Definitely coming back to try more of their delightful dishes! read more

Have had food here twice and have been consistently blown away by how good it is. From the Haleem, the Nihari, the Kabab Paratha Rolls to the vegetarian dishes, the Tikka Masala, Cholle, everything is insanely delicious. The meat dishes are extraordinary. The mix veg is the best I have ever had. I couldn't have imagined that mix veg can have so many flavors. The Sunday special halwa is the perfect texture. Silky, and you can taste the ghee and the ingredients not just the sugar that other places flood every dessert with. Breathtaking! Not just great taste, but abundant portions. You would not want to stop till you are exhausted and you will be before your plate's empty. Love this place and would keep coming back. I am a fan of this place. I'm Pakistani so I will review this restaurant accordingly. The food is good, however it could be so so much better if they just put more effort in. But compared to the lack of options of Pakistani food in Austin, Zaviya Grill is the best. Which doesn't say much since the bar is so low. If this place was in Houston, it would not stand a chance lol. My hope is that they get better recipes, better trained kitchen staff and cook more authentic Pakistani food. Oh my God... DELICIOUS. It's so hard to find a Pakistani restaurant in the austin area (mostly Indian and Mediterranean come up) but I found this one and it was a home run. Chicken Tikka masala was my favorite but when I come back I'll try Chicken 65 as well. Seekh kabob roll was good, but the wrap was a little too thick for me. Gulab jamun were fantastic too. Friend recommended this place so I decided to try it. Ordered for take out. I had a plan naan and garlic naan and ::cough cough:: they were HUGE. I could've easily just had one but both were DELICIOUS, and I crushed it with my chicken tiki masala curry that was also BOMB. Decent portion I was full from it. Had a great experience at Zaviya Grill yesterday during lunch service. Every single dish was amazing. I highly recommend getting the Mutton Chops as well, that was my favorite. I should've started with the Kheer because I didn't have enough room at the end but I definitely finished it. What I really like about the food is that it is not unnecessarily greasy or artificially colored/flavored (Desi restaurants are notorious for doing that esp in desserts). We were there with a group of friends and we all ordered a bunch: Garlic Naan, Chicken Biryani, Chicken Malai Boti, Mutton Chops, Goat Karahi, Channa Daal, and Kheer. I feel like I'm forgetting one dish but they were all equally delicious with the right amount of seasoning. Spice level was great too but next time I'll be asking for a bit more! The staff (wait & kitchen) were all wearing their masks & gloves and practicing social distancing. The inside felt very taken care of especially during these crazy times. We got to meet some of the chefs and owners as well - everyone was very warm & welcoming and I could tell that they take great pride in their craft. Thank you for being the first Indian Restaurant in the Austin area to bring back the lunch buffet! (Ignoring Star of India which is terrible). On Sundays only right now, they have a lunch buffet that is very good. It has my main staples: biryani, tandoori chicken, butter chicken, and naan bread. The tandoori chicken is awesome, especially as I tear it apart and put it into the butter chicken sauce and put that over the biryani. So good! I've been back 5 times in two months and love it. The butter chicken sauce could be quite a bit thicker, but is still very flavorful. The other options on the buffet are just 'ok' and I'd like to see some papadum added. I'll keep coming back for my staple needs though. read more

Me and my family went last night for dinner , let me tell you this is the best Indian food I ever had in Austin. We moved from California and we struggled to find the same quality and flavour we had at Zaviya grill. We ordered chicken tikka masala , spinach with cheese and chicken tandoori were so flavourful . Oh and the naan was so delicious . The restaurant was very clean, the waitress was nice and helpful . We will be back for sure read more

Service: 2.5/5 They were attentive and polite but they were really soft spoken (had to ask them to repeat what they said) and seemed to want to leave the table quick and go back behind the counter. Maybe it's a culture thing. Not sure. Atmosphere: 2.5/5 It's a nice place, but the lack of music really makes it awkwardly silent. Bathrooms: 3/5 Nothing to report Price: 2.5/5 Quite expensive.
