Best Pakistani food place in Austin. The food is really good and can be compared to any Pakistani restaurant in Houston or Dallas. I am a regular visitor and have tried both buffet and a la carte. The best part about buffet is that they serve fresh naan and Puri right at your table. Their paya , nihari and brain masala is the best. The barbeque items are just ok. Thinking in my head - umm they're probably on DST (Desi Standard Time) so better show up 30 minutes later vs the suggested 15 minutes. LoL... Walk in to find the restaurant at 50% occupancy, few minutes later someone finally takes my payment only to wait till it goes thru to say, it'll be 3 more minutes. Not bad right? I waltzed my ass into here around 1140 on a hump day afternoon. I was the only customer. They had the buffet set up for $7.99. It looked and smelled delicious, but, I just can't dig buffets. I asked if I could order from their menu and they said yes, no problem. Cool. Immediately after being seated the waitress brings me a carafe of water and a fresh salad. As I sat reading the menu I started wondering where the customers were. I mean it's almost high noon and I'm the only one dining. That is never a good sign. Given the fact it smelled so damn good I wasn't about to leave. I liked how the menu was layed out. Apps; Wraps; Soup; Rice; Grill & Tandoor; Curries; Vegetables; Bread; Desserts; Drinks; Kids; Sunday Special. Simple and easy. My waiter comes over and I begin to order. I asked for the chicken lollipops for my appetizer and he says "they're not ready yet". "Oh". "Well, how about these pastry things?", I asked. Again I got a "no". Suddenly he says "let me show you what is ready". Turns out a few appetizers and a couple of the main entrees. Apparently the full menu isn't available for lunch. :( Not to worry though. In a place like this I know I'm gonna find something that I like. I did Chicken Wings for my appetizer and Chicken Tikka Boti Masala for my main course with Paratha Naan. I couldn't wait to begin my feast. As I sat waiting I finished my salad and really wished I had a glass of red to go with the Masala dish. That would've been swell. Food took 25 minutes to come out, but, I really didn't mind because that tells me they are cooking that shit fresh. :) My salad was nice, chilled, fresh and full of cucumbers and onions and lettuce. Not just all lettuce like you mostly get at the majority of places. Big score on the salad. The appetizer and main course came out together. Sigh. I got six wings for $7. My waiter was worried that the wings would be too spicy for me! Ha! I was like, "Dude, I can fart ghost peppers!". "Bring it!". They were deliciously covered in Tabasco (which had some added kick) and were meaty and juicy. I was thinking "How the Hell do these guys know about Tabasco wings?". Good job on the wings! I have a new wing stop now! The Chicken in the Masala was Boti. I guess that means the meat came from the thighs and drumsticks. I'd believe that because it wasn't all dried out like regular Tikka Masala can be because it is breast meat. I could be confused here, but, I am still educating myself with the wonders of Pakistani and Indian Cuisine. Excellent Masala dish. Finger licking good it was indeed. Paratha Naan is probably my favorite of the Naans and this one here did not disappoint. Wasn't the best I've had, but, I wouldn't turn it down. Ever. This place was really clean and everyone was really nice and I sweated like a pig. If ever I am tempted to try a buffet I do believe I would get here promptly at 1100 (when they open) and try this one. The reason I say that is because on my visit I was like their first customer and I got there shortly after 1140. Can't wait to go back and try more of their dishes. My parents very excitedly brought me here for dinner the last time I was visiting them un Austin, and after trying it, I understand their enthusiasm! The restaurant is beautiful inside. the staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive. And the food. Wow. I am picky about raita (the yogurt dressing-- simple but soooo goood!), and enjoyed theirs quite a bit. The naan was fresh and perfectly done (crisp but not hard). And we got the Bihari Kabob, which was seasoned to zesty perfection and was so tender and sumptuous, it practically melted in my mouth. So this fairly new place (open 17 days ago) is going to be our new favorite! We had the lunch buffet, which was absolutely fresh and so much flavor!! A refreshing mango lassi yummmm and not too sweet. And now my other half wants me to make chai like Mirchi does!!! Well, easy peasy, because they are just around the corner from where we live . This is a review of Mirchi's menu orders (carry-out). The meaning of "Mirchi" is 'chili/ spicy', and they ain't kidding around. During my first visit, I ordered Chicken Seekh Kebab -- oh boy! it was full of 'mirchi'. But the food was tasty. One trick to neutralize spicy food is to take some plain yogurt and use it as a dipping sauce with every bite. The Garlic Naan is 'YUUGE', made fresh in the tandoor oven. With the high deductibles on my health insurance, I wasn't going to take any risks during my second visit. So I asked the server about spice level of various menu items. Butter Chicken (w/ garlic naan) was pretty good; it had moderate spices. Chicken Karahi was average. The taste is genuine and the food is served hot! Great location and local spot for some authentic Indian cuisine! The flavors are on point. Our favorite dishes were the goat curry and lamb chops. They were cooked to perfection. We got this with the garlic naan and biryani. But you can't go wrong with the Indian trained chef who has mastered the flavors of all these recipes. We felt very comfortable eating in seeing the entire team properly masked and following hand hygeine. However, takeout is also an option and we did see many people coming in to get food to go. Transaction Order: 131037 This order was not digestible to eat. It was loaded with too much grease or oils. I had to remove the grease / oil from the pain. This resulted in 3/4 of the 16.9 ounce water bottle being fielded with this liquid. The meat spices were "too spicy"! I am totally disappointed of this meal and your Resturant was recommended to me by one of my close friends. I immediately contacted the Resturant and they said it was nothing they could do. The gentleman on the phone that this is how the food is prepared with oils and spices. I told him yes I understood but this was way too much oil in this dish to digest. The buffet was pricey but the food was very good. $19.99 per person comes with serve yourself fountain drinks. Came in on a Sunday at the last hour of the buffet time limit (over at 4). I was super disappointed in this place, when I went it was buffet only for lunch, although the website didn't say that. I was looking forward to trying the Butter Masala, but that was not offered on the buffet only. There was the tikka masala and I was not really impressed by that. The nann was a little too over cooked, I like them more on the fluffy side. The lunch buffet was limited and expensive for lunch for not having that many options. The restaurant is new and very clean for now. Tandoor items are legit but order early if you want the whole chicken. Prices are super reasonable the kabob is tender as it can be and nicely spiced. It's has first of all the best PAKISTANI food in all of Austin ....it's not an Indian restaurant..it's an authentic Pakistani restaurant with great food so kindly stop comparing it with bland Indian food ...secondly their goat biryan,nihari and beef Harlem is out of this world and their naans are authentic tandoori style ...I love the fact everything tastes delicious the staff is polite and and always eager to please ....their catering service is also the best .....it has great carrot halwa, Raita and rice pudding is out of this world authentic Pakistani style .....every time I ask them for extra coriander and ginger and lemon for haleem and nihari they always provide it be it with take out or eating in ..l The best part it doesn't smell like Indian restaurants .......so all in all great food ,great ambience and smells good .....great place to take friends too.... Probably the blandest for you can get on Indian cuisine. The kabobs is just colorful but lacks any flavor. The tandoori chicken had some amount of pinkish flesh left. Parotas aren't made to order! I've been excited to see this Indian/Pakistani location open up. However, it wasn't my cup of my chai tea. The service is questionable. The women who did not greet us and the man who was running around the place were both busy and not very....smiley. Additionally, it took some time to get a menu, some water and order's placed. The real killer for me was the lack of explanation for dishes and that they were out of many dishes we inquired about. The food wasn't bad. I had chicken Queerma (?) dark meat chicken on the bone in a thick and oily sauce. My partner had some type of goat porridge, which tasted heavy of cinnamon and a spice profile that is new to me. Amongst other things, they were out of Malai kofta and Falooda. The mango lassi was very thin and milky. All and all, i don't know that I'll be back to eat. They only have Buffet at lunch time. The buffet selection is very limited. No appetizers. Although the buffet selection was limited the flavor was still there.
