We all shared the starters and declared the zucchini flower the winner. That filling packed more flavor than I thought possible! My main was the duck. It was cooked perfectly and I especially enjoyed the crispy dumpling of organ meat that provided depth and texture when eaten with the tender duck breast. Finally, we enjoyed the wasabi ice cream. It was as a worthy ending to a fab meal. The server was knowledgeable and very accommodating of a food allergy in our group. I was recommended to try this restaurant out and I was thrilled for the experience. I ordered from the prix fixe menu for lunch (starter, main course and dessert). I love that they were able to accommodate my gluten and dairy free needs. I had the Poisson mariné, Canard "Madame Burgaud", and they adjust a desert for me to be dairy free. I loved the appetizer and dessert, delicious! The main course was equally delicious, a bit too rare for me and there was a dumpling on my plate by accident. The error was quickly corrected. My first time at a Michelin Star restaurant and I've never tasted so many new flavor combinations and textures in one sitting! A 3-course meal was about 50 euros whereas a 5-course (omakase-style) was ~80 euros. The service was great. The servers all speak English. The location is easy to find; It's on a small street close to the Seine RIver. Reservation is required to dine here. When we went, they always made sure there was multigrain (?) bread on the table. The bread was delicious.... soft inside, beautiful crust. No toppings were needed - the seeds themselves gave it an abundance of flavor. The experience started with a palate-cleansing soup/drink that tasted different when it touches your lips and when it goes down your throat. The best way to describe it was that it had a clear but vinegary taste/feeling. For appetizers, I recommend the eel, which is probably my favorite dish. The wasabi ice cream was beautifully plated and surprisingly worked. Expect to be at the restaurant for 2 hours (for 4 people starting at 12PM). The prix-fixe menu here is great! Each bite was wonderful. A lot of Asian flavors are used here, including ones with soy sauce or gojujang. It was fun to experience Asian-French flavors. The progression of the courses were generally good, going from light to heavier courses. For both the pre-dessert and dessert, ice creams were served, which is a little odd to me. I would have expected something different (maybe a cake?) would be served for one of them. Having said that though, both ice creams were enjoyable. The restaurant is also very accommodating for allergies and dietary restrictions. Such a cool place. They mesh Japanese and French cuisine in creative ways. We were there for lunch and had the three course menu. I had the lobster appetizer, the ibérico pork, and the wasabi ice cream. The lobster may have been my favorite lobster ever. Tender, juicy, citrusy, buttery... just delicious. The pork was good, but not great. The sweet sauce was amazing. They crisped the skin, but not enough for me. The meat was a bit tough. The wasabi ice cream was absolutely fantastic. You could definitely feel the wasabi. Not a huge fan of wasabi, but then combine the flavor with white chocolate in ice cream... well, just fantastic. A spicy ice cream, but not long lasting (wasabi). Such a surprise to me. Very very cool... the chef walked around to greet guests after dinner. A very nice touch. I dined at Ze Kitchen Galerie while on a solo trip in France. I was super excited to experience a one star Michelin star restaurant in Paris and was surprised the lunch set was only €41. The meal began with a Thai broth which tasted heavily like coconut milk and not much else. Then I ordered the appetizer of the day, which was this oyster and caviar dish. The oysters were wrapped in some vegetable that I didn't quite catch. I felt like the flavors weren't very powerful and overall it was extremely underwhelming. Then came the fish of the day. It was half raw, half cooked, making the fish suuuuper unpleasant to eat. The raw bits were chewy and slightly crunchy, and the flavors were Thai again so it felt kind of repetitive. It was so upsetting because I was really looking forward to this meal and I couldn't even eat another bite of my entree. The waiter eventually asked if everything was okay since I wasn't eating and I let him know I was finished. He then came back and insisted that the chef wanted to make me something else which was incredibly kind. They sent me their scallops which were really good. The saving grace to me was the staff but the food was not good enough for their one star distinction. I wouldn't recommend visiting. read more

Each dish had several ingredients thus my lack of detail with the pictures. The fennel shortbread with one of the desserts was one of the best things I've ever eaten. There were things I would never put together and they were absolutely amazing. We did the five course menu and it was plenty of food. The atmosphere is lively without being too loud. It is beautifully decorated and well lit. The service was if possible, casual in the most professional kind of way. The owner seemed to be reviewing each dish that was brought from the kitchen before being served. We were here a few years ago and it is just as good as I remember. One of the best dinners during our 2 weeks in France. The reservation process was a bit involved, but completely worth the extra steps for a unique and memorable experience. I made our reservation online before our trip and immediately received an email that my request was received. Confirmation of the reservation came the following day by email. On the morning of our dinner I received another email to either call the restaurant directly or confirm with another email before 4 pm that day to guarantee our table. I sent the email but also had our hotel concierge call to confirm. That afternoon the restaurant called me directly to finalize our reservation (yay!) I unfortunately did not take a photo of the menu, but the option for dinner is either a 6 or 8 course prix-fixe tasting menu. Descriptions of several dishes are provided on the menu, but our server explained that this was only a sample of what could be served. Our server did ask if anyone in our party had food allergies or vegetarian preferences. I took photos of each dish except for the amuse-bouche which was a pork croquette accompanied by a shot of a beet juice concoction that whet the appetite for what was to come. All the dishes were artfully plated and delicious with inventive flavors and textures. The cuisine is described as French-Asian fusion but the Asian influence is subtle. We loved the traditional French dishes we had during our trip, but I have to admit the modern take on French cuisine was most welcome toward the end of our stay in France! Service was excellent and non-obtrusive. All the servers speak English. The restaurant is off a small side street on the left bank by the Seine. I was so sorry that we were only there for lunch because we had done a rather extensive tasting menu a couple of nights before and my husband wasn't up for more than a short course lunch. We were both feeling like we wished we could return for dinner, it was truly an expression of creativity and beautiful flavors from all over the world. If there is one fine dining experience you choose during your stay in Paris, this is the one I would choose. The courgette with cockles was divine and a revelation of flavors, light and fragrant. We decided to do the 5 course menu and they were able to do no meat for me (seafood only) and a mix for my husband. The dishes are amazing- it's French and it's Asian (very Thai inspired) and all around delicious. The cod dish and wasabi ice cream were my favorite! They have a very nice wine menu and will help you make by the glass recommendations so you can try a little bit of everything. We even had a sake with dessert! What the heck is a physilus? Goldenberry in the wasabi desert that was actually something I have never tried being an American and all. Looks like a small cherry tomato but tasted like a passionfruit. With an open kitchen, it's like being in an exclusive club. So much so that actually 2 of the restaurant cooks actually argued a bit causing a bit of confusion and some entertainment. Pasta with pork belly tasted great. Though we had to send it back since the past was way too al dente. These culinary grads are great at what they do. In fact they are so advanced that they couldn't boil the pasta to correct texture! Excellent food incorporating local & seasonal ingredients to its ever revolving menu. The place billed itself as modern French and it fully lived up to its name. All the creations were substantial & made sense - none of the pretentious modern creations hiding behind high concept or heavy sauces. Trust yourself to the assured hands of the chef/crew & the mission of the restaurant & simply go with the tasting menu. You will be glad you did. My friend & I enjoyed the evening's dinner comprising of the most delicate fish, succulent pork, seafood plate with prawns & the most delectable of dessert capped off with cappuccino. The kitchen staff operated and prepared the food behind glass enclosure which you can view as they ran from station to station. Fun to watch. There was no outdoor seating. The seating was intimate - tables were small & close to each other - typical of most Paris restaurants. The dining room felt a little closed in even though there were some large windows to the street. The host for our table was perfect - he really knew all the dishes, explained them to us in detail and recommended an excellent wine. We did feel bad about one of the servers. He had a really hoarse voice, coughed consistently with sniffles and he tried to explain the dishes in detail even when we dropped hints he didn't need to. He was not wearing a mask either. He was replaced after two dishes at our table but we did see he was still assigned to other tables throughout the evening. It was a bit awkward. We didn't want to bring it up with management in case it impacted his employment. Management should have been more self-aware & took precautions to make sure the server was healthy & minimize the exposure to the diners. read more

We came here with 4 adults and 3 children (4 and under, crazy right?) to a Michelin Star restaurant hoping they would not kick us out. However, the staff was very nice and attentive for what you would expect at a Michelin star restaurant. The adults had the chef tasting menu (up to 8 items) for 98€ per person, not bad relative to other restaurants in the US. The food is delicious and the best compare to the 9 day eating extravaganza we had on this trip so far. Each plate is carefully crafted, thoughtful and great contrast of flavors that blend together beautifully. Every dish is eye candy worthy of magazine cover so much that you don't want to mess it up with your fork. Each dish appears to have one Asian ingredient making it very interesting for your palate. We spent our last night in Paris here, and it was a 5 star experience!! We did the 8 course pairing; they accommodated my pregnancy and gave me no raw fish. Excellent service; couldn't have been faster or more polite. They also speak fluent English! Our favorite courses of the day were the sea bass... incredibly moist and tender. I loved the stuffed squash blossom. It was so unique!! I also loved the mussels in a unique Asian-like broth. I was intimated by the goat but it was actually delicious. Many of the brasseries and restaurants in Paris offered a menu that seemed to lack imagination. I'm sorry. There are only so many plain steaks and pomme frites to be had. Coming from Los Angeles where it seems that every restaurant is some kind of fusion and each new restaurant steps up to the plate with serious bravado in hopes to out shine its predecessors, I felt spoiled. I wanted to like the food in Paris. I really did, but I couldn't. The one meal that was truly interesting, unique, well crafted, well executed AND was accompanied by excellent service was my dinner at ZKG. The interior is sort of all over the place vacillating between ultra modern woods and stainless steel and at times feeling a tad 90s with geometric shapes and bright colors, but their food was nothing if not contemporary. I highly recommend the Casareccia, Thai Bouillabaisse,Tuna Bressaola, and Pistou Condiment as an appetizer. It is only mildly fishy, not overly salty, yet the flavors were full and rich. My companion very much enjoyed the tender Suckling Pig, Thai Curry Jus, Quince Condiment. I also liked the confit grilled waygu beef with teriyaki au jus--- although not nearly as noteworthy as the other two items I mentioned. Side note: If you require a two topper request not to be seated at a table on the long wall. Unless you are a munchkin there are just too many tables too close together. Even the most petite Parisians can't easily wiggle in and out of those table. And XKG is not inexpensive. Appetizers average 25 Euros. read more

I love lunch in Paris! Dine at an excellent Michelin starred restaurant for a fraction of the cost of dinner, procure reservations much easier, and still have a chance to do a meet-and-greet and photo opp with the head-honcho-starred chef himself. Ze Kitchen Galerie is billed as a French-Thai fusion restaurant. In a few of the dishes that we ordered the Thai and other Asian influence was very prominent. In others it was not. Nothing to complain about, however (just a note), as every dish was delicious and plated artfully. I started with with Tourteaux which consisited of crab, green peas and coral condiment in a very Thai green curry-esque broth. It was quite good, however I found myself eyeing my wife and our friend's dishes of squid and softshell crab pasta and the raw tuna with strawberry (which looked to pretty to eat). For the main I couldn't help but order beef wagyu -- I had ordered a similar dish at Joel Robuchon a couple of days prior and wanted to compare the technique, taste and presentation. ZKG prepared one of the best pieces of steak I've had in my life! For desserts, I must recommend the glace chocolat blanc - wasabi if available. It's white chocolate and wasabi ice cream with pistachio and strawberry. I'm a lover of chocolate and hazelnut so I ordered the Noisette (hazelnut ice cream with coffee, buckwheat and cocoa) instead, but I kept digging into my wife's dessert! Ate lunch here and it was just an absolute great first meal in Paris. Beef wagyu - tartare was such a nice way to kick off the meal. Obviously with this type of beef, you know you're gettin some good shit. Quail and foie - holy hell. This dish. First, I hate the stupid ban in CA. Everything was fantastic but what really made this dish was the sauce that accompanied the quail and foie. Holy. Just order this. White chocolate and wasabi icecream- THIS DESSERT. so frackin good. First off, the decor was very modern & the vibe was trendy, but not obnoxious. The service was exceptional, but the food was hit & miss. The dishes are definitely about the presentation as much as it was about the taste. The menu is Asian/French fusion which made for some unique dishes. To be honest, it wasn't my thing. Maybe this place is just cooler than me :-) While I can respect the progressive dishes I prefer more traditional french fair. It was our last day in Paris and wanted to have something yummy. Struggled to find a place at the last min and somehow I was able to find this restaurant online. Booking reservation was easy but only in French. But it's not hard to do. As we arrived, we were greeted; then immediately seated at the corded table. You have 2 choices - 6 course or 8 course meal. We picked 8 and decided to have a bottle of white wine which a server recommended. From the start to finish, it took us 3 hours; but what was interesting that they didn't not have anyone take the table next to us and kept us with good privacy. Not sure why but we loved the detail and kind consideration. (Must be the dress I wore?!?! LOL) This restaurant is inspired by Asian fusion flavor. It is very unique but it works. My fiancé was really pleased with the place I booked so that made me really happy. If we had another chance to come back to Paris in near future, I would love to revisit here again. There were some Japanese documentary filmmakers that day, but not intrusive. Every dish was artistically presented, and tasted delicious. The lunch tasting menu is the best bargain. We were in Paris for our honeymoon and I read so many great things about this restaurant. It is off a cute little side street near the Seine. We made reservations about 2 weeks in advance because I heard that they can get booked up. We opted for the 8 course tasting menu. It was about 98 Euros but for a Michelin Star restaurant for dinner that is very reasonable. We were quickly seated in view of the open kitchen. There was artwork around simple design, perfect ambience. We ordered a bottle of pinot noir and out came the amazing array of food. Honestly, we didn't take any photos or even write down what we ate. All I can tell you...it was AMAZING! We were pretty full and I think the 6 course menu would have been perfect for us but nonetheless we rolled out of there very happy! This was a wonderful meal up to the point that our bill arrived and we discovered we were victims of an unnecessary "gotcha". When we arrived, a host was giving glasses of champagne to all guests as they were removing their coats. We thought "Gee, this is nice!" Little did we know that each glass was billed at 16.5 Euros PER GLASS on our bill! 33 Euros added on to the bill for what we thought was a complimentary courtesy is beneath the quality of the food at this restaurant. It was hard to do after a wonderful meal but this left a bad taste in our mouths. They don't need to do that. The food was worth the price and maybe a little bit more. We were lucky to be able to reserve a table with little warning at this highly recommended restaurant. Full of hope I asked for a table near the kitchen (so we could spy on the great artwork being made in there), and luckily the pleasent staff complied. As for introductions to our waiter and our second waiter (!), everything went smoothely. And it only got better from that point on. We were asked how we would like our 7 course menu served and if there were any allergies or preferences we might have. We kindly replied that we were vegetarians. The waiter smiled knowingly and made sure our menu would be served accordingly. The dishes themselves were heaven, but the attention to detail blew my mind. I know that the visual experience to any meal is important, but this 7 course menu was borderline ridiculous. All the dishes had their own signature and tasted as if they had been perfected through milions of trials and errors. It was heaven. We were offered some great bottles of wine and when we admitted that we knew nothing about wine in general, we were adviced in a very trustworthy and friendly way. Together with the waiter we picked out 3 sorts of wine that would suit the vegetarian menu, and we were very happy with our choices. I complimented the waiter on his knowledge, and he replied that someliers usually know a thing or two about grapes. Well then, i said, touche. The service was so good in fact, that when we were leaving, our watier handed my girlfriend a present (that I had given him at the beginning of our endeavour) and he played along very nicely. He only said, that the present had just arrived with a courrier from overseas. My girlfriend shockingly looked at me whilst I gave her my bravest stoneface and looked back at the waiter, who just stood there. Thrustworthy. What a trooper! Seconds later the waiter just wished us a good evening and wished we would return for another visit - and after an evening like this it is higly likely we will return for another adventure very soon. Oddly enough the price for it all was way less than I had expected. All of the above was only around 250Euro, which, for a Michelin restaurant, is in the low end. An unassuming yet excellent restaurant like this speaks of the level of overall restaurants in this city. My experience was comparable or even better than many of the Micheline starred restaurants I've been to in NYC. I was extremely impressed with each dish, loved the variations of purée and sauces. There was an abundant use of coconut milk and lemon grass. We had the tasting menu that included: Appetizers: - Shrimp and lobster salad with mango purée - Escargot with baby asparagus in lemongrass and coconut soup - Polenta with lemon grass and coconut foam, scallion, bread crumbs (excellent) Entree: - Grilled mullet in bouillabaisse sauce - Kobe beef (they said wagyu beef imported from Spain) steak with yuzu. Each time I'm in Paris, this is one meal I always put on my to-eat list. Beautiful fusion dishes -- this chef knows how to marry clean Asian flavors and flawless French technique. Despite weeks in Italy, the best ravioli I've ever consumed came from here stuffed with succulent lapereaux. The 39-euro three-course lunch is a nice deal if you're looking for a meal that is off the beaten path of classic French and will be memorable for its creativity. The farcis chou and the glace chocolat blanc-wasabi are musts. (One dessert is definitely enough for two.) As is the case with the first reviewer of this restaurant, if fusion and/or foams don't fire up your palate, take a pass. I'd give Ze Kitchen five stars if not for the borderline smug waiter. read more
