A friend chose this spot for lunch. We weren't entirely sure what to expect but enjoyed a lovely lunch here. The potential to create a remarkable space here is huge. The views are stunning and the rooftop patio/outdoor dining space provides panoramic views of the mountains and surrounding city. Right now, it seems to function as almost a ghost kitchen? They have tables and do welcome dining in but it was empty while we were there (lunchtime on a Friday). From the way they're set up, it seemed like they were doing more takeout than dine in. I got a salmon caesar, which was absolutely delicious. The salmon was fresh as can be (the chef explained the fish had barely been delivered when he cut/grilled my filet--so super fresh!). The caesar salad dressing was perfectly creamy and the lettuce was crisp. I loved it. The service was friendly and the prices are incredibly reasonable. I would so love to see them invest in their dining space and rooftop patio to create a truly warm and welcoming space. Go for the view, not the food. Clientele is shallow and loud in a dining area with all the class and distinction of a high school cafeteria. Folding chairs? Paper plates? Knockdown tables? This is just a step above a food truck. Good grief. Visitor parking is hoarded by construction workers. The first floor elevator area is filthy with construction debris. read more

Only open 12 hrs a week T-F 11-2, seems to be run by family/friends. Great cafe with a roof top patio. Locally sourced food, and you can taste it. Simple menu, fair prices, basic vibe. You order at the counter and then grab a table and they bring it out to you. However, when I was there, there was no real engagement from the employees, just doing their job. I would definitely go back especially to support the concept, but I do think there is room for improvement. read more

Enjoyed lunch at Chef Zee's Rooftop Cafe today. IT was going to be hot today, but we found a shady spot on the patio that was great with a little breeze. My wife had the adult grilled cheese with bacon while I had the meatloaf sandwich, which has fried onions cheese and a mild horseradish sauce. Both our meals were hot and tasty, we went with the combo which adds a drink, chips and cookie for $3. All the ingredients were fresh and well cooked. They are only open around lunch time, it makes a great lunch stop while taking care of things in Boise. Parking available on the east side of the building, make sure to use the left hand elevator to access the penthouse, it has its own call button. read more

This is a privately owned restaurant at the top of a building in Boise. Great location! Tuesday is Taco Bar which is exactly what we ordered. There was ground beef, seasoned chicken cubes, not seasoned but very tender chicken breast chunks, black beans, and lots of toppings. Very filling and satisfying. There were quite a lot of other menu items I'd like to try as well so I'll be back. The decor wasn't very nice tho but the view was great. I know small businesses rely on good reviews, so I focused on the view and food for the 5 stars... not the cluttered table or the decor. Foods more important anyway! read more

Zee's Rooftop Zee's Rooftop in Boise has been on my to do list forever. Boise Metro Chamber named Zee's best small business of 2019. I would've been here sooner if I had known they had free 2 hr. parking. Located in the penthouse level of the CW Moore building, Zee's is well known for their small, but high quality menu, all of which is made in house, using local ingredients. Everything is very reasonably priced. Bonus: it comes with the best view in town! On 7/6/22, I ordered the BLAT sandwich ($7) - Dailey's bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado with house aïoli on toasted sourdough bread. which came with a side. The options were chips, fresh fruit or potato salad. I've heard amazing things about the potato salad, so that's what I got. Both were excellent! The potato salad was one of the most flavorful I've ever had. I'm pretty sure there was fresh dill in it. On Tuesdays the special is an all you can eat Taco Bar for $7+. On Fridays they always have their famous Clam Chowder. Can't wait to try that! Next time you're looking for a low-key, affordable, off the beaten path lunch spot in Boise, be sure to keep Zee's place in mind. Zee's also does a lot of catering and event planning. This was my first visit but definitely won't be my last. I met up with some friends for lunch and it was delicious. Both friends had sandwiches, one was the grilled cheese and the other was a turkey with avocado. My friend doesn't like avocado and the gladly substituted it out. My husband had the clam soup. It is gluten and dairy free. It was the best I've ever eaten. I enjoyed my avocado toast with scrambled eggs. I thought the eggs were overly salty but it didn't stop me from taking them home. This is a locally owned restaurant and they make their own line of seasonings. The restaurant has a lovely view of Boise. read more

Oh my. Just had the Christmas panini. Wonderful! Potato Salad was a great choice for the side. I would have taken a picture of the meal but dang smelled so good I had to dig in almost immediately! The melted brie and the cran-garlic aioli with the roasted mushrooms and the sliced sirloin. Amazing! The bread was nicely toasted. When it comes to lunch on a Boise rooftop, Zee's is the best by far. I had been wanting to stop by and grab lunch for a while and finally had the chance. My experience was nothing short of awesome. The food was great (I had a BLT), the prices were way less than I expected, the young man that filled us in on specials and how they make their food was great, and the views were excellent. Let me start with all the reasons why this place should have been 4+ stars. The views of Boise (city and foothills) are amazing. The food is very tasty! You can tell it is fresh and well made. However, something happened while we were paying for our order that just didn't feel right. We had grabbed a $1 off lunch item coupon. As we were paying, I said "oh, and we have this coupon". Before the cashier could even respond, the owner/chef chimes in that it was only valid off XYZ. Well, the coupon does not state "only valid off XYZ" and he didn't even make the effort to check what we had ordered or offer to honor the coupon in light of it not specifying that. We ordered a soup, a salad and a sandwich, so I think one of those should have qualified as a lunch item (also considering that this place is only open for lunch anyways). Atomic Wedge salad, yes please. Turkey with provolone, lettuce, tomato, Dijon, and avocado ...WITH a view of the entire city, AND the late summer northern hills, uhhh yassss!! Throw in the 80's hits and wifi so I can send these words somewhere.. and I'm a pretty happy camper. ..even with the rain on Michael Franti day... I'm sure the absorbent droplets and dynamic clouds will free us of this lingering smoke and make for a perfect setting come showtime. Not only is Zee's Rooftop the most amazing 180 degree view of the city, spacious, and immaculate, but Chris Zahn, the owner is a top notch chef and his crew has always been super supportive and genuinely helpful and kind! I have frequented his rooftop cafe for lunch quite a few times, and I have attended and have participated in some events, here as well, and I am always so impressed and always enjoy my thoroughly. I appreciate how hard Chris works, and how thoughtful and generous he is when it comes to fund raising and supporting the community. In these trying times, Chris has kept the cafe open to offer delivery and pick up, and last night, my boyfriend decided to treat me to dinner, by picking up dinner and bringing it to my house. (So sweet isn't he?) ;-) and when the food arrived it was packed and ready to go with instructions and all. I enjoyed the SUPER TENDER, BRAISED BEEF AND RED WINE MUSHROOM SAUCE for $22 which was a great price! It was served with Mashed Potatoes and Roasted Vegetables and it was delicious! Hit the spot! Zee's is walking distance from my work so I thought I'd give it a try! It was really good! I ordered a panini with the soup of the day which was Italian Orzo and Iced tea. It was all yummy and I am quite full! The only complaint I have is that came to over $11 but the location is amazing, the food was good, and the service was great! I sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine and the view and they brought my food out to me and remembered my name. I'll be back maybe with a friend next time! read more

The food here is surprisingly good! I wish I worked in this building so that I could mosey on upstairs for this goodness! They have creatively put their menu together with twists on every dish to make it different then Joe-next-doors and their prices cannot be better! I tried their cashew ceaser salad and their version of a club sandwich. Both were great and I hope to come back soon. We waited half an hour to find that our food was just sitting on the counter after someone had brought out another table's food (they ordered after us) and was just chatting with other customers.
