This year I was plagued with the dreaded smog test required for my vehicle which had just hit 8 years old. Having little knowledge about where to go or what to do I hopped on Yelp and found Zee's. There were nothing but 5 start reviews and the location was just up the street so I figured let's give it a shot. When I called Zee's all my questions were immediately answered and it sounded like this was going to be quick and painless.... It was. Zee greeted me with a friendly hello and lucky for me there was no wait so I was able to get my test going after a few simple questions regarding my vehicle. I was able to have a great conversation with Zee while I waited and he made this process extremely easy. He explained my test results to me once they were complete and told me what to expect with the DMV. I highly recommend Zee's, he was professional and friendly. As someone who knew nothing about the smog process because I'm not originally from California I was nervous, but Zee made this process a piece of cake. Came here for a smog test. Paid $65 and it failed. Understandable. However, he told me to go home and run my car on idle then to rev the engine to 2,00-2,500 rpms for about 15-20 min straight while sitting in my driveway. I did so. The next day, my car did not start. I called my mechanic and told him what had happened. He chewed me out for listening to this guy. In result, I had to tow my car to my mechanic and low and behold, my car needed a NEW COMPUTER. My car was then in the shop for several months waiting for a computer to be sent to my mechanic. $1,000 later, I finally got my car back. Without a problem before, other than that it needed to pass smog, I had more problems. All I have to say is, if you do not know what you are talking about, DO NOT recommend advice to customers. Walked in to pay $65 for what I think is already on the higher end of a smog check, but ended up costing me $1,065. Lesson learned was: do not do what they tell you to do without research first! My car is a VW and those engines are not supposed to be run like that!!! Do not trust and I feel robbed! read more

If honesty and good customer service are what you are looking for, go to Zee's. For the handful of unhappy complainers, don't blame the shop for California regulations. They don't know if you are from the State. If you see your check engine light is on, why would you think it is going to pass a smog test? Fix your beater BEFORE the State forces you and stop slowly killing the rest of us. Price too high? The equipment is insanely expensive and state mandated. You think clean air comes cheap? You fault a small businessman for trying to make a living? Your rent is high? So is his! How do you think the $30 test and repair makes it? Take a guess! read more
