it pains me to leave negative reviews on here as I always try to be positive, but it seems I'm not alone in my thoughts with this one. the food was extremely bland and basic for the price. the chips and salsa were so bad that I couldn't even bite into the chips, they tasted stale. the chicken tacos were alright but overdone. the rice and beans tasted store-bought. overall, this was not a good experience in terms of food. however, the building itself looks great. the aesthetic is really pretty, and the staff were all very sweet and did a great job in terms of service. hopefully the food will go through a major change soon. read more

We went to Don Christos with friends on a busy Saturday evening. The inside is bright, modern and welcoming. The service was prompt and very good. Great drink menu and especially enjoyed the margaritas. The food was very fresh and generous portions. A little closer to authentic Mexican. Even noticed the manager walking around the dining room asking customers if everything was to their liking. You don't see that very often anymore. We will definitely be back. read more

I struggled to give a 3 star review. We had six people who were crammed into a booth for 5, when plenty of larger tables were available. Chips/salsa cost $4.00 - tasted like store bought salsa and stale chips. I had a strawberry margarita that had 6oz of drink and a ton of ice -$12.00. I had the fish tacos - served cool as was the rice / bean mixture was warm. Other guests ordered a large picture of margaritas - was supposed to be 55oz - not a chance -$48.00. It was difficult to hear inside of the restaurant. There was a person constantly walking by the tables and filming people - it was distractive and un welcomed as permission wasn't asked prior to. (I would not want to be part of a promotional piece for this location). We may try it again to see if it gets better - but currently not worth the cost verse the food quality. There are far better Mexican options available in the area at this point - hope it gets better. read more

They did an awesome job with the remodel of the place but is it worth your time or money? Absolutely not. If you're craving Mexican anywhere is better do not recommend. Waitress was super nice, but overall horrible food. You have to pay for the chips and salsa for one basket? Management is not good either. Margaritas are tiny with fake limes as well. They did a wonderful job with the interior design of the restaurant! But unfortunately, that was the only thing that was up to par (or exceeded expectations). Management will need to put more effort into perfecting their menu and service. It was apparent that our waitress had no prior service industry experience and went MIA quite a bit. I understand this is a new restaurant and this is a reflection of management, not the wait staff. They are young and need to be trained properly to have the tools and knowledge to be successful. Chips and salsa are not provided free of charge at the table. We ordered chips, guacamole, pico de gallo and queso... if you needed more chips it was an up charge. The rice was hard and had no flavor. I've had Mexican minute rice better than the rice here. The shrimp tacos were decent, but nothing special. The fajitas were flavorless as well and not cut into small enough strips for fajitas. This place is relatively expensive for the area. $14+ cocktails could work in other areas but that's a hard sell for Macomb. Also, from the outside you can't really tell if it's open or not. An open sign or banner would help. This place definitely has potential. Like I mentioned, it's beautiful inside. I hope the owners use these reviews to improve their food and service. I will try the place again in a few months to see if they worked some of these issues out. read more

All I can say is to read the menu very carefully, there are additional charges other than the amount shown in BOLD. The food was at best room temperature. The corn chips were stale. This is the first time in years, that I walked out of a restaurant and I was still hungry. Definitely not worth the money. Good luck! Went for Happy Hour, there were 5 other people there(all at the bar). We were seated in the dining room, very large open room. Our server (forgot her name) was very pleasant and knowledgeable. The food was very good, margarita was small, mostly ice but $3. beer was a good deal. Will definitely go back. read more

I've been here three times now with my girlfriend and all three have been consistently positive. I have no idea why this restaurant isn't busier. The service is always good. The prices are good, especially the lunch specials.The food literally taste like it's been prepped the day you order it. Everything is just so good. The only reason I'll give it 4 out of 5 is because the ground beef has a bit too much spice. The last time i was there a few days ago i got the dip trio and my girlfriend got a side of rice. Everything was tasty. This isn't your typical Mexican joint, it's like an upscale place and i hope they continue to thrive because we'll be back. read more

This place is legit! The vibe is great. Food was delicious (big portions). Good beer list (didn't have a chance to try the margs - next time). I would say this is a fairly good restaurant. The interior is spacious, naturally lit, and vibrant. Wasn't very busy at all for a Friday night and we go out every Friday to many restaurants that are very busy, so it was surprising to us. It never got busy the whole time we were there, so even more surprising. Great atmosphere and the food was pretty good with honest portions. I would say on par with most restaurants. The chips and salsa were complimentary. At least the first serving which is all we had. They did show up on the bill but were priced at $.00, so I think they got the message on charging for them on earlier reviews. The staff was very young, along with professional and helpful. Our waitress was energetic and cheerful. She did a good job of taking care of our orders and making sure everything was fine throughout the meal. She went missing after dropping off the bill for some reason, so we took care of it with another staff member. Overall a decent place to go to. read more

My wife and I went for first time on a busy Saturday night. The staff were very friendly and working extremely hard to keep up. We first splurged with some unique Margaritas which were delicious and worth the price. The trio dip app was fresh and tasty. Finally the entrees were top notch quality and well seasoned. It is not your typical bland American Mexican restaurant food that needs to be drowned in hot sauce for flavor. The ambience is fresh and clean. We went with another couple. The trio dip was very plain. For some reason our food came out one entree at a time. The time from the first entree to the last entree was at least 15 minutes. My wife got the burrito bowl and it was served workout rice. We asked about it and the waitress made us feel like we were crazy. She had never seen it comes with rice. We ordered chicken fajitas and shrimp fajitas for 4 people. When the food arrived to the table it was on one hot plate with only 4 tortillas. We were confused but began eating. When the waitress came to check on us we asked if this was really 2 orders of fajitas. She said it was the combo protein order for one fajitas and offered another plate of fajitas as a solution. When we got our bill we were charged for double proteins on one order and single protein on the other, so 3 portions of protein worth. We asked for just one of the three protein surcharges to be taken off because we did not mean to order a combo, the waitress misunderstood us. We are trying to order two separate orders of fajitas. The manager came over and was immediately rude, aggressive, and attacking towards us. She did not even let us explain our situation before she started yelling that we had eaten the food and it was over and done with. We simply wanted six dollars taken off our bill. We did not think that it was going to cause an entire scene with the manager. We even offered to just pay the total bill so we could get out of there, but she would not get off the phone with the owner. She said that we did not bring it up when the waitress was at our table, which is a lie, we did ask the waitress about it. The mistake was on the waitresses part which is okay, everybody makes mistakes, but I do not like the way of the restaurant offered to correct it, nor did they try to make it right. I just do not think that these are good business practices for a restaurant to be screaming and yelling at your patrons over six dollars. She said she needed it approved with the owner, which is totally fine, but she could've just said that from the beginning she didn't have to scream at us. We will probably not come back here again, even though the food was good. They just lost a longtime customer due to mean and aggressive management. read more

The atmosphere in this restaurant. It's light and airy with a Mexican infusion. Definately the vibe of being on vacation. The food was very good - Had the beef fajitas. I also had a traditional margarita which was delicious and the strawberry frozen margarita was yummy too. The waitstaff was very attentive and made sure that we had what we needed. Even brought a different margarita when the one we received tasted salty (strawberry with sugar rim). Everything very expensive. I had pork belly tacos (3 per plate) fairly small. The pork belly was not rendered properly and hence had a lot of fat and gristle. Chips were extra ( I didn't get them).
