One of the few places in Acworth that's notable. Being from "the north" aka Chicago, I assumed that ATL would be a hub for BBQ. But it's actually quite hard finding really good BBQ! And it didn't help either that I moved to the middle of nowhere. There's fast food and a few mediocre local spots for American fare. However, my husband was craving ribs and our neighbors said that Ziegler's was great so we checked it out. So thankful that we did because it is so good! We have since gone back numerous times and never had anything bad there. We have now moved to the other side of Atlanta and we still think about Zeigler's. The ribs were average. Mac and cheese was pretty tasty. Brunswick stew was the worst i ever had. I m guessing it was an error cooking it, it tasted like black pepper spilled in it. Oh. My Gosh. Do yourself a favor and go order literally anything on the menu. I got the Pulled Chicken Dinner (2 sides) with their famous mac-n-cheese and green beans. I ordered a third side of creamy coleslaw. It comes with a dinner roll too. The mac-n-cheese is IT you guys. The green beans are made with bacon, salt and pepper, and apple cider vinegar. My husband got the brisket combo (1 side). The fries were standard cut fries, salted. I need to take a moment to acknowledge the tenderness of the BRISKET!! It makes you wanna cry. Will not be going back to Zeigler's BBQ for multiple reasons. Ordered pulled chicken sandwich and the meat tastes like it was cooked in a microwave. The chicken was too hot to eat and when I did eat it, it tasted rubbery & chewy like it was overcooked in a microwave. Mac & cheese was not good either, it was dry especially with the breadcrumbs, felt like I got the burnt crusty stuff from the edge of pan. Brunswick stew was waaaay too spicy with pepper to eat, I had to throw it away. Same with the green beans too much pepper. The atmosphere of the dining room was decent except that you can hear loud vulgar music being played from the back. Inappropriate rap music where I could hear people saying the N word over & over. I look in the back and it's nothing but white high schoolers listening to that in a place of business. Should be a little more professional than that. There are indeed bugs crawling and flying around in the building which is gross. I saw tiny roach like bugs when I used the bathroom to wash my hands. This is a good, longtime BBQ spot in Acworth. Located in a strip shopping center at corner of Mars Hill & Cobb Pkwy//41. Plenty of options for both meats & sides. Friendly counter service, and a half-dozen or so tables & booths if you want to eat-in. Their signature sauce is apple-bourbon. Wife likes a tangier version but it's not bad. They also offer two Cole slaw varieties- creamy & tangy. I like both but have migrated toward the tangy over the years. read more

So finally I got a change to try them out and I can say they exceed any expectations! Sometimes when a place gets hyped up too much it will inevitably disappoint because it can't live up to the high expectations. This is not true of Zeigler's BBQ. This place is pretty good brisket was good and the Brunswick stew was really good in my opinion. The Apple Bourbon sauce was very good. Mac n cheese was bad! Sorry gotta call it like I taste it. Overcooked, no seasoning, no creaminess, NADA. The meat- all of it- mushy and cold and bleak. The baked beans? From a can. The peach cobbler was gelatinous! If I could give 0 stars I would. The Ribs at Zeigler's were a bit of a rarity (no pun intended) as they were slightly underdone. Most commercial Ribs are "Fall off the bone" which is actually an indication of being overdone. Still they were tasty and meaty. The Brunswick Stew had a heavily sweetened tomato flavor, which isn't exactly what I was hoping to find. In Stew I'm looking for a deep meaty flavor coupled with a thick consistency. This was more like a ketchup-based vegetable soup. So, go for the Ribs, but stay away from the Stew. read more

Ok I officially think that I'm a bbq snob. I'm from south Ga. My father in law makes some of the best ribs this side of the Mississippi. I mean, I don't even eat them with sauce they're so well prepared. So it seems I am just constantly disappointed by the bbq joints I've tried in the Cobb/Kennesaw/Marietta area. This was no exception. I was so excited, as I typically am, after reading the reviews and glancing at the pics. But lo and behold, looks can be deceiving. I ordered a combo plate with ribs and smoked wings, baked beans, and fried okra. Everything was just...off. Like the potential for greatness was there but fell just short. The ribs were ok. They were on the drier side and lacked the flavor I was anticipating. If I can't almost shake the meat off the bone...ehh. The smoked wings were similar, just average. They were fine with sauce but without they really lacked the it factor. The sides were fine but I don't go to bbq spots for the sides. They are the accessories, but fly jewelry is nothing if you have on old sweats and a tshirt. I can't say I wouldn't go back and give it another shot, but I can't say that I would either. We went on a Sunday evening and they weren't busy at all but had sold out of brisket due to a large order. Despite the number of BBQ restaurants (and enthusiasts) in this area, I've been incredibly underwhelmed with the actual food at these places. Zeigler's is no different. I went here years ago to try their pulled pork (my favorite). It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. It was missing that smoky flavor I associate with good barbeque. Their Carolina (mustard) sauce was just meh. I also got some fried okra that was largely unseasoned. Recently I tried again, this time with a pulled chicken plate. It came with a yeast roll, mac and cheese, and fried okra. The chicken tasted like canned chicken. It had the same weird salty quality of canned meat and was watery. For a "dinner" plate and what I paid for it, I felt a little ripped off, but once I tasted it... Nope. The yeast roll came from a bag, so once it got soggy from the chicken juice I didn't even bother with it. The mac and cheese was okay, and the fried okra improved. Their sweet and smoky sauce helped too, but you can't make up for the main star of the meal being bad. Their other stuff might be better, but I'm not in a rush to try it and won't go back on my own. read more

We have been coming to Ziegler's for quite a few years now. Recently, my wife suggested we get BBQ for dinner. Who am I to argue?? When thinking about what place to get BBQ from, she suggested Ziegler's. We both then commented that we hadn't eaten from there in a long time. Neither of us knew why. The food has always been good. We got a family pack meal for 4 and really enjoyed the food. The only thing that was a disappointment were the spicy corn fritters. Holy hot. I couldn't eat them. They were out of ribs from Labor Day. The combo comes with 2 sides so we went with mac and cheese and fried pickles (these were considered premium sides $0.50 extra). Others ordered potato salad and fries with theirs so I had a chance to try those sides too. Everyone indicated that their meats were on the dry side and portions were tiny for the price. I did like their mac and cheese, potato salad, and fried pickles. Service--you could tell they were getting impatient with us because we did not know what to order at first. Called up to place an order to try out food for possible future birthday party with 75 plus people in a few months and when I made mention to the girl she seemed "so interested" like she didn't care to prove that there bbq was the best. I was trying out several places and this place was referred by an employee via a neighborhood site I am on. Pros-NONE Cons-Mac and cheese tasted horrible and cold BBQ wings were not cooked and swimming in sauce but tasted gooey until I put them in the air fryer but then I could only stomach a couple. Also please if you are making it a point to make wings a feature on your menu for the love of G make the ranch homemade!!! Coleslaw-was warm but funny because all the food was cold and I am pretty sure it was suppose to be cold. It also tasted store bought (Publix to be exact) and there is gagaliciousis. Ziegler's is one of those places that, as a home bbq/smoker guy, you begin to understand you're far from mastering bbq. I've tried the chicken, which is good, but I go to Ziegler's for the pig. The meat is just ridiculously and consistently tender. Despite not seeing a thick pink smoke ring on skin pieces, the smoke is definitely in the flavor of the meat. Their sauces, spicy and bourbon, are both exceptional. I haven't found a go-to side but I'm not one to grade a bbq joint on the quality of sides. They aren't bad, but I've not found anything exceptional. Highly recommend Ziegler's....by far, the best bbq I've found in the Dallas/Hiram/Acworth area. read more
