Came in for first visit on Thursday March 16th around 2pm. It's a walk up service where you take a number and then your food is brought out, but there is no regular table service. The counter lady was nice and professional. The place was pretty clean. The tea was excellent. I ordered the brisket plate with potato salad, fried okra and toasted bread. The brisket plate was almost $19, and the brisket itself was great, perfectly cooked and plentiful. The fried okra was fresh, crunchy and not overly greasy, and also a large order. I did not like the potato salad because it was a mayo and sour cream based recipe and I like potato salad with mustard and mayo, so it wasn't bad for probably most people but I didn't like it (I didn't base my food review on the potato salad because most people will probably be ok with it). I also had the fried pickles as an appetizer and I really liked them. Not too greasy and the pickles were very fresh, had a nice tang to them, great overall flavor and crunch. My buddy had the turkey sandwich and really liked it (photo attached). It was actually carved turkey! As a side note they had a new cook in the back, the guy was wearing sunglasses...not a good "look" for customers to see when visiting. Prices were fair, food was good, parking is ample, location is good, service is nil because there is none, place was clean, staff was not the most professional but they didn't do anything wrong, they just didn't seem to want to be there. What the heck, I'll give it a 4. This was the 1st restaurant I visited when moving to the area in - wait for it - 2006! So, they have staying power. We went a LOT back then & kind of burned out, but I will go periodically & it's usually good. They actually have a lot more than BBQ but my standard is pork bbq sandwich, cole slaw & tea & it is generally reliable. If I'm feeling like a splurge, I get a 99-cent side of cornbread cakes that are very good. Everything was good. The environment was fun. Two games were playing along with some golf for entertainment. The servers were fast and efficient and friendly. The food was the best. Hamburger steak with mash potatoes green beans and Brunswick stew... The stew is ok not great not bad just ok, a little too much BBQ saucey for me. The green beans were inedible! I have eaten at your establishment many times and have written very favorable reviews. Today is not that day. Your service continues to be very hospitable and your restaurant is cleaner than any other BBQ restaurant in your vicinity. Problem today is with the brisket. Very tough, undercooked and fatty. I tried 4 bites thinking it gers better and it was horrible. I told a young lady in your dining room and her only response was I'll tell the kitchen as I threw my lunch away. No apology, no would you like something else etc. Just it's ok to put $22 in the trash. I'll return because of my normal positive thoughts on your food.....but only once more if this doesn't change. Some of the best barbecue I've had ever. The gal at the front was really friendly and welcoming, though I did not get her name she had red streaks in her hair. I got The Mark, Fries, Pickles and Onion Strings. The fries and onion strings wete delicious, so we're the fried pickles (though I wish they were crispier and battered more). The fried pickles have a unique shape where they are like French fries which I found cool. The main sandwhich, The Mark is one of the best sandwiches I have had. Ever. The combined elements of the sandwhich create a perfect blend of flavors with every bite, but even deconstructed and tasted individually each ingredient on the sandwich tasted fantastic. Hands down the "best" bbq I've had in as long as I can remember. They must keep the meat in a steamer because I can't imagine any other way to keep it this juicy. The "chef" seems to know his stuff because everything I've tried has a very nuanced flavor profile. Nothing is blanketed with salt or butter as "flavor" and the Mac'n'cheese being as standard as one can get while still showing off is impressive. I no longer need any other bbq spots. I don't have a picture to share unfortunately but on our way to the lake with our pups, we decided to grab two dinners my husband and I, and he got the pork sandwich combo and I got the three meat plate combo and the food was phenomenal. The port was a little dry but I think that is because it was the end of the day when we got there so I will give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt on that. My sides were the cornbread stuffing, which was amazing with gravy on top and the potato salad and my three meats were pork sausage, and brisket. And my husband got the mac & cheese for his pork sandwich. I definitely would recommend this place for your go to barbecue in country style, not to mention, the cashiers were very friendly, and made us feel at home!!! When we return to Lake Allatoona. My server was kind enough, and one server checked on me once, just asking if everything was all right (no offering, for example, to refill my drink or take my empty plates away). The food was good, but nothing out of this world. I would not recommend the fries; they were baked crinkle-cut fries that I could have as easily made in the oven at home. The baked apples were good. The decor is barbecue-y, with lots of old signs and the like. The temperature was comfortable, and the restrooms, which are single-seater, were clean. One big strength of this place is its community involvement. They do a lot for the local community (e.g., very supportive of schools), which is what brings me in. I wouldn't turn you away, but I wouldn't shoo you in. There's no shortage of barbecue places in the area, and this one is as good as the next, but not significantly better, either. read more

I'm a Yankee, so take my review with a grain of Celtic salt, but I moved to the Deep South almost 25 years ago so that I could enjoy fresh hot southern BBQ as often as I wanted. I was tired of fast food chain BBQ and craved the care and love a pit master could pour into his BBQ. There are lots of places around that specialize in BBQ and quite a few who truly excel at it. This wasn't one of them. Ignore the boring decor and step right up to the counter, the menu offers a wide variety. The staff was friendly and attentive, happy to see me and happy to help. They answered questions about the menu and helped me navigate the restaurant. The meats were decent but underwhelming: pulled chicken was about as good as a Shane's and the sausage seemed previously cooked and recently fired. The sides were not a highlight and i do not recommend the potato salad or the baked beans. In a shopping plaza with a lot of other choices (pizza, subs, burgers, sushi) this place seemed to have a market cornered, but lacks the inspiration to win return business. read more

This is a good BBQ spot. It does have a bit of a chain- restaurant feel but what takes it from a 3 star to a 4 star are the cornbread pancakes you can get your BB served on. This is something I haven't seen at any other place in the area. I think the BBQ pork on these cornbread pancakes are pretty good. I have tried the pork and chicken, the meat is lean but flavorful. There is a variety of sauces, i mix the hot and sweet. The sweet is veeery sweet. Brunswick stew is a BBQ requirement here, and i would put this is slightly above average. Good place to eat, acworth is growing and some restaurants come and go. This one is pretty good first off the food is fresh and good selection of sides and the cornbread is a must. I don't like it usually but this is flat pancake type slightly sweet cornbread. The sauce is good and hot bbq sauce is intense don't be fooled. Prices or reasonable and brisket is best I've had that wasn't dried out. All sides were good and service was above average. Now for the only concern being a chain bbq restaurant it loses that original flair but it's good real good food. Ordering reminds me of Shane's rib shack. Fast food this is not and I would have felt better prepared to sit down and look at a menu before ordering. Your not a McDonald's don't assume I know what I want when I walk in.
