I had never eaten here before, however, the reviews were good so we called in an order. 2 Chicken Philly Gyros, a Greek Salad and Greek Fries. I picked up the food and I was pleasantly surprised. The gyros were filled with a lot of flavorful grilled chicken, cheese and veggies. The fries were crispy and had lots of feta on them and the salad was very good. Because this is one of the better fast casual spots in Carrollwood. --- --- --- Our go-to fast-casual Greek place closed a few months ago, so I'm not sure why it took us so long to visit The Hungry Greek, but we finally made it happen. I have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised at how great our food was and know that THG will be on my shortlist for places to consider for dinner in the future. I ordered the beef kabob meal and the wife went with the gyro meal. These are my only (small complaints): -These meals come with a ton of food, which is great, but it almost seems like you're given less than the appropriate amount of meat, compared to everything else - especially with the kabobs. -There seemed to be some kind of crunch kernels in the rice. Was this done on purpose and I seem super uncultured and unaware of how Greek food is supposed to be prepared? Either way, it was kind of distracting to be chewing and then caught off guard every few bites with these tiny, but hard substances. -Some of my wife's gyro meat was super hardened by the end of the meal - think: extremely crispy bacon, but not as easy to deconstruct when you bite into it. But that's it. I loved every other part of this. The beef kabob meat was perfect. The salad was delightful. The dressing was amazing. I demolished my meal and then ate half of what my wife couldn't finish. I was plenty stuffed, but it tasted so great that I didn't want to stop eating. Oh, and random bonus - they have Diet Dr. Pepper on their fountain soda machine! This might sound like a small thing, but Diet DP is infinitely better than Diet Coke. Overall good experience -- easy ordering online and easy pickup of walking in and heading to the pickup area. Why not 5 stars? Here we go....so placed an order online for myself and coworkers since it's a Friday and we typically order out when in office. I was able to order online which I love!! One thing I hate is having to call in an order or go to a place to place an order and have to wait there for it. So very convenient. The order consisted of 4 orders so not that large and the items were reasonably priced. When I picked up the bags were tied shut so I asked the staff member if there were utensils in the bag to which he said yes, so I proceeded on my way back to work. When we opened the bags to disperse the items to the individuals there were no utensils and there were some forgotten items. I ordered my potato salad on the side thank goodness as my coworker's salad did not have potato salad as they forgot it I am guessing, so I ended up giving her mine. They also didn't include my wheat pitas which is fine as I'm not doing carbs at this time but was planning on giving those to another coworker for her meal. My other coworker didn't get her tzatziki sauce with her gyro so I ended up giving her the one that came w/my salad. So a bit disappointed that they forgot items, however the taste was amazing and we were full and satisfied. Also, I ordered the Horiatiki Village Salad which doesn't have lettuce and the veggies were sliced so big --- my recommendation would be to slice the veggies just a bit smaller.
