Bryan and the staff at Zemp Auto are absolute rockstars! I wont send my cars anywhere else. It took me years to find an honest mechanic that stands by their work and I can trust. They have extremely competitive pricing and I never have to second guess if I am being sold on services and parts I don't need. Some of my favorite services they offer include their free towing service to the shop ( yes, if your car breaks down ,they will send a tow truck to pick it up and bring to their shop at no cost) I've unfortunately been in this situation a few times and it's great to know I won't ever be stranded or having to pay hundreds in tow fees. Brian you used to run an honest shop, I'm not sure what has changed or why. Unfortunately now your crew isn't honest and when a customer confronts you about concerns and issues you blow up and don't listen. When your "tech" first called he said it was my alternator I told him I had swapped that out and already tested before bringing in so I know that's not it. That should have been the red flag to make me pick up my car and leave. But based on past experiences with you I gave you the benefit of the doubt and Your "tech" said the fuel pump would solve 80% of the problem and when the car was picked up it was just as bad as when it was dropped off. When I went back in you said you would look at it so I dropped it back off and then you called and refused to look at it. Said you reviewed the notes. When I told you to listen to your "techs" phone call with me so we could all be on the same page you refused to listen. Why did you refuse to listen Brian? Is it because you know your "tech" lied to me. Listen I know I paid cash and my options are either small claims court or bad review. And I'm sure you know most people won't take the time to take you to court and you are correct I'm one of them because I work hard for my money. But I'm leaving this review in the hopes that I save someone else from having to deal with shady mechanics like you and your staff. read more

I used Zemp some years back and they were great. BUT... DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR THERE NOW!!!. I took my car in for a relatively simple repair. A fuel pump and sensor. I left with a car that was not put back together properly and leaking gas in my driveway. I took the car back the next business day and was verbally insulted by the owner, Brian, telling me to " call my husband" and that they were not responsible for the new issues after my car was "repaired" by them. RUN!!!! Insulting owner and staff and not efficient in repairing my vehicle. I like to support small, local businesses... but NOT this one. ESPECIALLY if you are a female. I am appalled and embarrassed at the lack of respect and ridiculously subservient treatment that this business presented to me. Towed my car to zemp to fix my brake system on my Lexus. I regret taking it there. Guy charged me 4100 dollars to fix brakes and radiator Didn't have radiator issues when I took it in. All of a sudden my radiator needed replacing. I told him to fix it. I needed it road ready to head back home to nv. An hour into my drive back home all indicator lights for the brake system came back on. Car sounded and emergency alarm so I took it back to zemp. They cleared the lights but didn't do any work to fix the issue and handed it back. A month later. 4th of July weekend,again, brakes went out. I called zemp to report the problem under warranty work and they refuse to work on my car after spending over 4100 dollars with in the month. They called me a lier. They stated they refuse to work in my car because I was unhappy with the work and damage they cause on the hood grill. They broke off a section of it and blame me for it. Sooooo I had my wife drop my car off for an oil change they had my car for almost 5 hours I call them for an update and they say we'll it's all done but we can't get your hood to close. So I rush there and when I get there the owner is telling me that I set them up and brought my car in like this I am so mad at this point I can't even see. So I yell, FIX MY CAR NOW!! The owner says "get the F*** out of my shop, take your car free of charge?????" then calls the cops. They do absolutely nothing but tell me to take him to small claims court. So i left. I'm sorry I run a small business as well and would never do this to any customer because one of my coworkers messed up, then say I set them up and brought my car in like that. Why would I do that? We took our truck to Zemp because it hadn't been driven in ages, however when we did we noticed a terrible clanking noise. Brought it in mid-week for the appointment & they said they would call by the end of the day. No one called. We called and the guy started rattling off details about a truck that wasn't ours. Once he realized he had the wrong truck he told us that he was too busy to get to ours that day. We picked it back up and brought it back in on a Monday for an appointment. After having it for a week they charged almost $900 for a spark plugs and rubber boots on the coils. We paid the $$ picked up the truck on Friday and the truck ran the same. Still had the loud clanking noise. When we called to find out what was going on no one answered. No one returned calls. My bf left an honest review on another platform. The owner called and when we again tried to get some answers he told us "F YOU BRO"... told us to " F OFF" and pretty much said the truck was a piece of junk. Horrible business man. So unprofessional. I do not care how you wrong you feel your customers are you never have the right to cuss them. We knew it was in bad shape and we just wanted to have someone tell us what the next step was or what to do about the loud scary clanking noise. We didn't understand the almost $900 for spark plugs and boots! This shop is a rip off, totally unprofessional, classless and worthless. Go somewhere else. I took my VW in for a water pump and they fixed it and got it done in a timely manner. I thought great!!! I have found a shop I can rely on and trust. Wrong. I took my van in to have it looked at and it sat for two days without being touched. I called yesterday and they promised me it would be looked at then, it wasn't. I picked it up this morning and brought tit home, I'll fix it myself. Brian offered the classic excuses if we are busy and I had a guy call in sick, but no real apology. Oh well, their loss not mine, I'll just have to fix it myself or take it elsewhere but if my car dies in front of this place, I'll have it towed across town. read more

Every now and then you get a good honest local shop. This isn't it. Every time I have taken my vehicle there, it comes out with more problems than it went in with. I could go into details, but let's just say you will need multiple return trips and every time they will tell you it isn't their fault. So, this last time, after hearing he wants $2,900 to fix what they now believe to be the problem, I voiced my concern and the owner cut me off and told me I had been a very difficult customer to deal with. Took my 99 chev blazer in to get looked at, they looked at codes said I need a fuel pump, and your alternator is bad, I told him it's good it's been tested, he told me he will just take it off the bill if that's the case. So I'm at 1500 he says I'm good to go your vehicle is running 80% , but you do still have a small vacumm leak under the manifold. I asked if it was a problem and if it would cause damage to engine. He told me no it's running alot better, it will be fine. PAID in cash gave great tip. A day of driving and the engine light came on, it starts acting the way it first was, I call zemp they tell me " well we told you there was a leak still right" I started to get a little mad and finally owner I guess told him to tell me swing it by he's involved now he will look over it and see what was done. In my head I'm thinking he's going to look over the job not just the notes taken on my car. I show up to see the progress and it's in same spot owner tells me nothing he can do it's something else too not just the fuel pump that was wrong with it. So I spent 1500 dollars and vehicle is back to running like shit. Told me to pick my keys up and hung up on our phone call. Worst customer service WIll NOT EVER GO BACK! read more

My car would stall intermittently and my regular mechanic just shrugged and didn't know what to do. I took it to Zemp. Brain changed out a relay and said if it was fixed he'll trust me to come back and pay him. 5 times I attempted to stop in, but no one was there while work was being done on the property. I finally did catch them weeks later and paid them $50 for his time researching on the internet. Now having intermittent transmission slipping problems and they had to drive my car over 25 miles until it happened to them. "Yep, just like you described". Said I needed a completely rebuilt transmission at a cost of $3,749.75! (Other places under $1900 and may not even be that much depending on what they find.) Charged me $73 to drain a quart of transmission fluid out and add a quart of $5 additive. Was so hoping to have found an honest mechanic near my home, but NOPE. So much for being honest with them. Ever had an owner of a business yell at you over the phone? Ever had the owner of a business hang up on you? Ever had the same owner of a business text you "I hope you find the help that you need!" I experienced all of those things with Brian Zemp--the owner of Zemp Auto. Brian may be a good mechanic, but he has a problem with his temper and communication. After getting our van back the first time, it had dirty finger prints all over the inside of the door and side of the seat, and the electric seat adjustment was totally disassembled. I pointed it out to them, and Brian apologized, took it around back and had it all put back together in ten minutes. But why was that disassembled in the first place? The repair that I had taken it in for was for a cylinder 1 misfire. The recommended repair was to replace the cylinder heads at a cost of over $3000.00! I asked for other options, and we settled on a repair that involved changing out the lifters. (This repair was still over $2000.00.) Within a day of getting the van back (after the weird experience with the seat electrical handles), the same problem presented itself. The engine was rough to drive, and it had all of the same symptoms. I told them I was unhappy with the fix, and that is when Brian lost it on me. He hung up and told me he would need to listen to his recorded phone calls of our conversations with his employees and what I was promised. After the second diagnosis, he told me that it was an easy fix for only another $260. Not sure why, but I agreed to it. But I will never return. This business has broken my trust, and because of his rude behavior and inability to control his temper, I will not be back! read more

When I got in an accident immediately after picking my car up, they provided me with a referral and replaced some light bulbs free of charge so that I could be street legal again. Took my car in and had a catalytic converter installed. Took it in at 8:00 and said it would be ready at 12:00. At 5:00 nobody had even called. Picked up my vehicle at 6:00. Next day it stopped running. Had it towed back to Zemp. They had it for 8 days. Didn't ever call me. I had to call them after 4 days. Then the lies started. Said they spent some time on but had to get back on it and would call me back in 2 hours. Twice they did that. Never got a call ever again. They are to busy and to unorganized. I went to Zemp for 2 years and they earned my trust until one day I took my car in for an oil change and the owner gave me an estimate for my shocks. He said they needed to be replaced on my 2013 Prius that had 80,000 miles on it. Not even broken in by Toyota standards. I have a friend that has a 2008 that has 250,000 and has never changed the shocks. I took it to my son in laws trusted Toyota mechanic. He said none of the shocks are not leaking and do not need to be replaced. I have 100,000 miles now so I no longer trust ZEMP Auto and have not taken my car back there. BUYER BEWARE!!!!! Not as honest as he says and at first they see honest buy look out and if they did this to me were they using synthetic oil? Were they replacing the filters? NOT TRUSTWORTHY!!!!! read more

Mesa, AZ So, I went in for a scheduled oil change which was a great value under $55 bucks. Left work and drove in from Scottsdale to make my 4 pm appointment at a reputable place in my neighborhood. I had been here once before and was very pleased. I will also say the mechanic today was great. During the oil change, I said I also needed a cabin filter and was told previously that when I bring the car for the next change, they will change it for cost as it takes very little time to do on my 2011 Camry and as a returning customer. When I was handed the bill, it had an additional $20 in labor for the $19 filter something that took minutes to exchange. When I asked the person who checked me in he mentioned nothing about the $20 labor. Not that it is that much but I was I was surprised. The gentlemen said he didn't make the pricing, he just worked the counter. The owner had gone to Circle K but I was not offered the ability to talk to him when he returned and he took payment. So, when I saw the owner wheel up as I was driving off, I told him that I felt I was unfairly charged without a heads up. He immediately told me that it costs him $45000 or $47000 a month to run the place which is not my business and that I was getting it cheap. He also said that it was the second time a customer was not given a quote with the counter person. He finally reluctantly offered to return the labor and said it is not worth a bad review. I assumed he could just credit the transaction back to my card and left. He never said nicely to come on in, we'll will take care of it, we want you back.... He evidently could not. I received a voicemail from Brian (spelling), the owner, stating that he needed my card for the credit but elaborated that he was surprised at my level of frustration about the matter and extended his apology for not coming in for the credit but he did not tell me that during our discussion. It was more about the counter person's lack understanding that there were solutions possible and his immediate rebuttal. When I called Brian back I asked if he could credit the card which he said he could not and needed the card. He also resorted to letting me know that I was being cheap so I had to explain if I am so cheap maybe I will just contest the charge and he can wait for his money and then hit me with an F Bomb. Multiple in fact. It has been a very long time, and I am 59, since I had a business owner tell me FU. But it will be the last. I am not saying don't go and people have bad days. It's your money. As I said, the mechanic was great. I am saying, if you do, make sure you have a full quote. based on his and/or his counter person attitude, I will not spend my money there as it appears my money means nothing to help pay for the steep rent. We've been taking our three cars to Brian at Zemp Auto for the past four years and have never had anything close to a negative experience. He's professional, experienced and honest. He hires good guys (vets too!) and they are just as cool as he is. I spent three decades employed by domestic and foreign vehicle manufacturers on the finance side and have extensive experience and exposure to dealership service departments. That is why I was looking for a qualified independent professional service organization when I found Zemp. He doesn't try to sell you unnecessary services and he does what he says he's going to do at a reasonable price. You can't ask for anything more from a service organization. I fully expect to get more than 250,000 miles out of each of our vehicles and one of the main reasons I'm confident is that I've got a guy like Brian that tells me the truth about what I need to do to make that happen. As far as these reviews go, context is important. The bottom line is if you want a positive experience with your vehicle buy a high quality one to start with then take care of it. If you're smart you'll find someone like Zemp to be your partner in that process. For the record Brian and I don't hang out or drink beer together but after you've worked with a guy on your cars for over four years you get a really good sense of his character and the type of outfit he runs. I took my car and because I was having some squeaking noise when I would go over speed bumps. They did a diagnostic and I found out it was the upper control arms. I called the dealer and got a quote over the phone and Zemps I was half the price because they were willing to use aftermarket parts and it's a small local business which is good to keep their labor rates low. Aside from cost, the staff was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and most importantly - honest. They kept me up today on the status of my repair and they let me know when it was ready for pickup. Even threw in a free set of windshield wipers because it was raining and my wipers weren't working properly. I will definitely return for continued repair and service. read more

Just had my ac fixed. Works great. I have been coming here for years and they are always honest and their prices are unbeatable. I took my truck in to several other shops and they all tell me that I need additional repairs. Zemp auto is honest with me and will tell me the urgency of the repair. While the other shops make it sound urgent, Zemp will tell you the truth and not try to up sale their clients. I have always taken Blue to Midas. She is a 2005 Mazda 3. Midas kept ripping me off, making me feel as if she was just falling apart- over and over again. I finally got fed up, so with her latest troubles I asked some friends and they told me to take her to Zemp. I scheduled an appointment. They immediately told me she needed tires and they can't diagnose her with such bad tires. They gave me some suggestions on where to go and didn't charge me. I brought her back with new tires, they Balanced her and got everything aligned. They notice a bolt missing in the front axel and replaced it. I can't help but feel that if it was anyone else they would have wanted to replace the Axel... They are honest and amazing and I am so happy to have found someone who doesn't screw me over just because I am a female. This is the only place I trust now and I rather then fearing mechanics, I can finally rest easy knowing Zemp is honest and does some damn good work! Very happy and will be back for sure! read more
