There is not much competition in Danbury area for sushi so I would say this place is one of the best ones . 1st of all you need to know that they close at 9.45 pm ,I really mean it ! regardless of where you are with your food you will see the check arriving on your desk . I have been there few times , I like it . I usually get a small sake and 4 rolls . I like the spicy salmon and cucamber the most . I recommend them . I am not a huge fan of tuna . Staff are very friendly and the place is clean and well decorated . For the size and the fact that they serve hibatchi the place is quiet and it's easy to have conversations . Just if you enjoy wine I would suggest to ask for new bottle . read more

I think this is the best Asian food on the west side of Danbury. The restaurant is nicely kept, and the hibachi is also fantastic. The atmosphere is upbeat, definitely the nicest place to go out to eat in the area for this type of food. read more

Do they have one that is less than one star, if so I'd choose it! I have been to this restaurant many times for habachi but last nights dinner (06/22/2022) was the worst ever, and I had a reservation for 6 people. Due to poor management and them taking people in front of us, we were even there early, our 8:30 reservation didn't happen til 10:20 at night, after closing. They sat us before 9:00 but no food and no refills on ice or drinks while we watched everyone else in the restaurant eat. You would think they would tell the customers that even with a reservation it's a 2 hour wait, but nothing said. Needless to say we were not happy, after I complained to the staff, never was allowed to even speak with a manager, they decided it was appropriate to give us a 20 percent discount on the meal, which was not nearly enough to cover the aggravation and sleepy kids with us. This was supposed to be a celebration dinner for a high school graduation and believe me, it was no celebration, the hibachi cook did no tricks, cooked and left apologizing that it was not his fault. I blame the management and staff for this one. If your looking to eat hibachi, I would not recommend this place anymore, needs new management and staff... go somewhere else, there is a good one in Ridgefield CT only 10 min away that can keep reservations. Just embarrassingly terrible experience! Don't go here! Epic fail by management and a shame on our our special occasion. Please spread the word and help boycott this establishment. read more

This is by far the most delicious food. Well prepared, normal to large portions, quality spices - meat - rice - etc. Their takeout cuisine is the same as their dine in cuisine. Most of the time when you order takeout from other place, they throw smaller amounts of good together and often you get either cold take out or something left out. We couldn't be happier with this place. We dine in and order their take out, always equally enjoying the delicious food. I ordered chicken pad Thai on Grubhub. I was delivered pad Thai with more TOFU than chicken. There is zero description of tofu on the menu and this is not typical in a pad Thai dish. I also have an allergy to tofu and when I politely explained this, the woman did not care at all. When I called they told me to take it up with Grubhub not them. I spent over $50 and the food is subpar, along with their customer service. I will NEVER order here again. read more

When Zen first opened up, I had nothing but good things to say about it, especially on the sushi side. With my gym being right next door, it was easy enough to pop in after a workout to pick up some sushi for dinner as often as I'd like. However, I can't say the same anymore. I'm sure Zen's food will remain solid for as long as it will be there, but the last time my girlfriend and I stopped by we had an incredibly awkward experience. We were seated at a table in the middle of the dining floor, which was tolerable, but if you looked around, it just seemed like everyone else looked as uncomfortable as we were. I know I'm being nit picky, but it just felt super weird. Aside from that, our waitress took forever to do everything. By the time we got our dinner entrees, not only was my beef not as hot as it should've been, but my girlfriend was given the wrong sashimi order, and it wasn't even close. At that point, we just wanted to go home. Maybe it was an off night, but Zen doesn't have the same vibe I once enjoyed when it first opened. read more

As members of a party of 24, seated lengthwise at one table through the center of the dining room, it is hard to judge how one might fare in a more "normal" dinner setting. The menu was preset, and the table served share plates of a number of appetizers, followed by a variety of main courses. Other than the eggplant (I am not a fan of this veg, but others raved) I sampled it all and enjoyed every last drop. A sampling of sashimi passed through as well, and was promptly devoured. The food gets a solid A Where this missed was in two spots - staff/servers seemed totally unprepared for 24 place settings, water and drinks. Perhaps management should have assigned servers to a party of this size? The drink and wine list was enticing..but wine bottle #1 and the second choice (following the first sold out announcement) were "all out". Had to go with choice #3 which was "what do you actually have?" But back to the food - wish we had this quality in our neck of the woods! read more

Picked up over $100 of take out for my family (4 Bags) The Beef in two separate dishes was over cooked ,chewy and dry. The Sweet and Sour Chicken Sauce was watery and the Chicken had no flavor or crunch. We went here on a whim one Sunday morning right after the doors opened. The place is right off of Route 202 and we actually missed it the first time we passed by, but it's kind of tucked away. There's ample parking and it looks like this restaurant may have been remodeled after being converted from a garage. The decor was nice and it felt spacious inside. We were starving and we had a gameplan ready the second we entered. We ordered the Love Boat for 2, an extra order of rolls, AND a chicken pad thai. Put on your life vests because that boat will rock your world. We were able to conquer the sushi, but took the pad thai to go. I agree with a previous post that some relaxing music would be nice, but either way I don't really mind. Give this place a try if you're feeling sushi in the Danbury area. read more

I had meeting in the area and stoped for lunch here, very unusual location divided from steak house. Nice wood floor and ceiling all solid wood but the bathrooms are dirty outdated and not cleaned. We had great Indian pancakes which was very good but the sushi rolls are below average, server is very slow. Wherever the Fuzhou people own, runs and manages restaurants they are all like this, they are loud and they hire all kind of newly arrived people for work., who is lacking of experience and knowledge Of food . They just wanna work make money. I wish there is better sushi in the area since there are a lot of offices and businesses. My recommendation is avoid going sushi place except the Japanese own places. The traditional Japanese sushi are not fancy and decorated but quality of fish and sushi rice is top. They care more quality than fancy color rolls. read more

Food was ok. If you are going to charge for drink refills - please tell people when they request a refill :) we were not told and our 2 fountain cokes (1 refill each) came out to $10 which is nuts. Also one of the sushi rolls we ordered was covered in toppings that were not listed on the menu description and it made it inedible for us. We didn't eat it. Please ensure the description lists all of the components. Everything felt expensive for what we got. And the refill situation is just so frustrating. I understand for like a lemonade or something "special" but I've never heard of charging for a refill for a fountain coke. And if you do - you need to make that known when ordering! read more

I am a big fan of this place. The location is easy to get to, (between exits 2&4 on Mill Plain. Also, parking is never a problem... big open lot, which is really a nice plus. The atmosphere is modern and cute, making it a nice place to bring a colleague or client. I have both sat at the sushi bar, and had lunch / dinner.. as well as called for take out. Me and my kids stopped here after our visit to Thrillz adventure park, they wanted hibachi I wanted sushi. Kids weren't able to utilize the kids hibachi even thought my youngest had just turned 11 and it was 10 and under, so we got the adult hibachi dinner. 1 chicken, 1 steak and I ordered from in the kitchen. The server was very nice and accommodating, I ordered the tuna tacos and couldn't eat it because I'm allergic to Mayo, she just took it off the Bill no questions asked. It did look pretty good tho. The glitz of hibachi is always great. The kids loved it, I loved the free sake lol. I ordered the shrimp fried rice from the kitchen and was very disappointed. I attached pictures but the shrimp looked undercooked or something, maybe boiled idk. But not appetizing at all and didn't taste to great either. I just ate around them, the rice was good and I didn't want to send another order back. When the hibachi chef came out, he asked if I didn't like the shrimp and I said they seemed a bit undercooked, which he stated they're cooked, twice once in water then in oil. I attached a picture of my shrimp and my kids hibachi shrimp so you can see the difference. Like I said I didn't fuss just ate around it, but seemed not to safe to eat for me. Out side of that it was a good fun experience. Only other complaint was the tables were a bit sticky and I had to ask to make sure we were seated social distance at the table as it isn't a priority. I came here to back up the review recently posted by Chris D. from Brewster. I usually find people who leave negative Yelp reviews unbearable, but they are not exaggerating in this case. My party shared a hibachi table with them, and we also had an 8:30 reservation. One member of my party ordered Chinese food from the kitchen, and was fed 45 minutes after we arrived. She then had to sit there and wait while the rest of us were not served any food until 2 hours after our reservation time, and 45 minutes after the restaurant closed. Rather than making even the slightest attempt to give us the experience we were paying for, the wait staff actively avoided us and pretended we didn't exist, giving no indication of how long we would be sitting there without service. Another table on the other side of the room, who I remember saying had 9:00 reservations, was served before us. When we spoke up about this, we were told that chef was not assigned to our side of the dining room, so we had to wait for ours to finish the table he was serving. Our chef throwing his hands up and saying "not my fault" at the end of dinner was really the final insult that threw me over the edge. As someone who worked in customer service for 7 years, I cannot imagine saying something like that to a group of dissatisfied customers. The 20% discount we were given was a pitiful attempt to shut us up and get us to leave. If I wasn't so exhausted from this whole experience (it was 11:00 pm at this point), I would have argued that a 20% discount was not even close to sufficient compensation for the stressful and aggravating experience we went through. But at that point, I just wanted to go home. Absolutely horrendous customer service, paired with rushed food preparation that left my salmon disappointingly bland, completely ruined my opinion of this place forever. I definitely will never give this restaurant another cent of my money again, and will advise everyone I know to do the same. read more

Food was very good, best hibachi in the area. Service on the other hand not very good. Waited 20 minutes after we are seated to be greeted and order drinks. Soup and salad came out together and just tossed on the table. After ordering we waited another 30 minutes for the food to start cooking. We've only ever ordered delivery from Zen, starting from when they left some flyers at our community. Our first order was an impressive batch of food and we typically order from the Japanese menu for lunch sometimes. After a handful of deliveries, we noticed that the portions of sushi and sashimi have gotten a bit smaller compared to a couple months ago. Perhaps this wasn't intentional but hey Zen, if you're reading - the great portions that you started with were perfect. Don't skimp on the portions, because customers will notice! Aside from that, the food received has always been good quality and deliveries come on time. They make pretty good estimates and can take credit card payments over the phone. read more

We were disappointed with their sushi at this place! We ordered a love boat and the rice for the sushi was dry! Although we said something to the manager but they didn't do anything about it! We also ordered pad Thai with shrimp! Shrimp was over cooked! The manager said that's how they make it and that we should have asked for more sauce for our pad Thai! Those are the answer they gave us! I don't really like to complain but it wasn't a cheap meal for my birthday dinner! I went there for the Malaysian Roti that I was craving and that was pretty good! She was super rude and cut us off while we were ordering drinks because we were taking too long and came back 10 mins later. We came here for sushi but half of us got meals as well. Stop playing around. If you like sushi and Asian fusion this is the best place in Danbury. The food is always on point and the service when you eat in is great.
