    Salmon skin salad
    Pearls P.

Delighted by this quaint sushi spot, I was looking for a light bite to eat and my salmon skin salad was perfect. The owners are very friendly and I got greeted with a smile plus some comps. Coming back to try their fish collar, eel, soft shell crab, fried banana dessert

Had the chicken bento. Looks like the usual items. I wasn't too thrilled. I asked if I could sub out the gyoza with two or three vegetable tempura. I was willing to pay a bit more if they did but was flat out denied. I'm just a bit conflicted with some of the reviews left from others. They got great service. Mine was not so much. Bottom line, here's my review. Chicken was cold on some parts. Dressing on salad was a turn off. One of the sushi chef sneezed right on the sushi prep board. Not once but twice without covering his mouth. I was not happy and quite frankly disgusted. I paid and walked out.

Every roll made fresh and did not disappoint! Big mouthfuls LOL not the biggest place which I prefer and the service is good. They play music and give a complementary orange at the end, cut very cute and perfect to cleanse the pallet

I noticed this place was fairly new, so I decided to give it a try--and I'm so glad we did. The restaurant itself is small, but feels cozy. Everything we ordered was delicious. The Poke Salad was fresh and generous with the fish, which we really appreciated. I asked for my Crispy Tuna Rice to be extra crispy, and they happily accommodated-- it came out perfectly crunchy and flavorful. I also loved that the plate was filled with all that crunch, my favorite, which was an added bonus. My Albacore Delight with crispy onions was also yummy. I also really like that most of their rolls come in 4 pieces. It's the perfect portion for me--no need to commit to a full 8+ piece roll, especially if you're trying multiple items. Plus, it keeps things affordable since each 4-piece roll is only $7. Mine even came with 5 pieces, which made me extra happy. As if the food wasn't enough, our server surprised us with 2 complimentary pieces of Salmon Chips loaded with my favorite crunchy toppings. And then--on top of that--he brought out a cute little orange fruit dessert for us. I honestly can't remember the last time a sushi place spoiled us like this. The icing on the cake was when the owner/chef came out to personally ask how everything was. We told him how much we loved the food, the accommodations, and the complimentary items. He was incredibly kind and genuinely appreciative, which made the whole experience feel extra special. I've already bookmarked this wonderful little spot as we'll definitely be coming back.

A new place in Brea! A few things to consider: Their sashimi was pretty good size cuts, value for the price solid. Their sushi rolls, the presentation was great! They are half sized rolls (4 pieces) so it's a really great price. But, I found the rolls we ordered were a bit drowned in too much sauce and the rice was a bit mushy. It could be an off night. Definitely go there if you want decent sushi for great prices. Their service was really attentive. Because it's a new place, the chef sent out some complimentary items such as fried tempura bananas.

This is my second visit today . My first time, I ordered the spicy tuna roll and pepper salmon sushi, and today I ordered the pepper salmon sushi for my daughter. The seasoning isn't anything extraordinary, but the salmon slices have decent thickness and a nice torch-grilled flavor. The variety of fish isn't extensive, but if you can find what you're looking for. It's a good deal and is worth coming regularly.

Let me start with the fact that we were so disappointed when we saw that sushi box had closed as it was our favorite sushi spot in the area. I drove by one day and noticed the sign of a new spot and I was curious. My bf and I were wondering if it was just a name change or fully different. I will say that it is NOT just a name change as the management is different and the menus are different. That being said, their food is very similar and it reminds us of sushi box. The place looks like almost nothing has changed and it has that familiar cozy feeling to it. Their rolls now are sold as half rolls so you get to try more and they offer less things than before. Their dish presentation is still very nice and their food is very fresh and tasty! They are now opened during the middle of the day and on Sundays. My only call out is that their liquor license is still not in effect so no alcohol. The staff is very friendly and welcoming! We love their riceless rolls and have a couple more to try. I love soft shell crab and was excited that they offer it and it also comes inside the spider roll! Their baked rolls are sold tasty with their delicious sauces, but the rice can come a bit apart on those. We love their spicy tuna as it is fresh and spicy but not too spicy. We have been here twice since we realized that they "reopened" and can't wait to be back and continue trying their menu.

Everyone is super friendly! The sushi is so fresh and so good. They made it extra special for Mother's Day. I highly recommend this place

Plain salmon roll, baked scallop roll, super spicy tuna roll and on top, we got chef's pick and complimentary cucumber salad!

Amazing chefs who really prioritize your eating experience!! We got complimentary dishes which were so nice! My party was a group of young adults and it was giving, eat more my child. It felt like I was eating at a relative's house especially when they brought the complimentary oranges for dessert. The sushi quality is amazing. The rice isn't cold. Salmon cuts were thick and the scallops were nicely sauced! Service was extremely generous and the vibes were great! Would go here again!

Ramen, cream corn, edamame, chicken teriyaki, tempura, cucumber salad.

Great food and the presentation 10-10 The staff is hospitable and friendly. We got edamame and cream corn for appetizers, cucumber salad and tempura. I got mild spicy ramen (great for cold weather), my gf got chicken teriyaki ( the red plate) it was great.

Since our Beloved Sushi Box had closed down earlier this year we had not found a sushi place that was up to par. Today we happened to drive down the area and saw the sign for Sushi Zen Grand Opening at the old Sushi Box Location. We had to stop by! Upon entering we were greeted warmly and were happy to see much of the decor still there. The menu is slightly different, Sushi rolls come in a 4cs presentation which allows for trying different combinations. I was happy to find my Jessica Roll on the menu. I found the rolls to be a nice large size which fill you up pretty quickly. We will definitely be back!

The sushi here is amazing!! The quality of the fish is really fresh and everything was delicious! We tried everything from classic rolls to the house rolls and you honestly can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Service was excellent and the chef & waitstaff were so attentive. Highly recommend the salmon carpaccio and baked scallop roll! I will be coming back here again soon and this is definitely going to be one of my regular sushi spots!

Once I tried their sushi for the first time, they quickly became one of my favorites in OC. They fly their fish in every Friday and you can literally taste the freshness. Over the times I've visited, I've tried basically the whole menu but a couple in particular are my favorites. I always start off with the Blue crab appetizer that's wrapped with salmon on the outside and asparagus. Their sushi rolls are all solid here--I can't recommend the signature Chubby roll enough. And if you're feeling adventurous, they even have Tuna bone marrow shots which are actually such a nice palate cleanser! And, of course, the star of the show is the Chubby sashimi platter. Each piece is thiccc and melts in your mouth and even comes with sweet shrimp and uni. This spot is genuinely a 10/10, so if you haven't tried it, like I said, you're definitely missing out! I did not like their Agedashi Dōfu because they make it different from most places where I've had it. The tofu is supposed to be served in sauce or broth. But theirs is all dry and did not come with enough sauce or broth to dip into, so the flavor was a little off for me. The rolls are decent. Personally I think they're packed with too much rice. The Poke Salad did not have a very generous amount of sashimi compared to other sushi restaurants. The restaurant itself is kind of small so the seating space makes me feel a bit claustrophobic.

Since having kids, our restaurant outings have become much less frequent, so it felt especially meaningful to return to a place we used to love. We had such an amazing time! We came with our two young children, and Masako, the owner, was incredibly warm and kind from the moment we arrived. She welcomed us with a level of genuine hospitality that feels increasingly rare these days. Masako and Tom both went above and beyond to make sure our family was comfortable and well taken care of. The food was excellent, and the care they showed us made the whole evening even more special. It is rare to come across such generous and kindhearted people. A highlight of the night was dessert for my daughter, who has a dairy allergy and usually cannot enjoy desserts at most restaurants. Masako thoughtfully made her a dairy-free version of the Oreo tempura, which meant so much to us. She absolutely loved it. Also, the sashimi latina sauce was so delicious that we saved the extra sauce and kept dipping our rolls in it. What used to be one of our favorite restaurants has now become our new favorite all over again. Thank you, Masako and Tom, for such a wonderful evening and for making our family feel so cared for.
