We ordered the sukiyaki udon, tonkotsu ramen, a salmon avocado roll, and an eel roll. The udon was warm and comforting with tender beef, and the ramen broth was rich without being too heavy. The sushi was fresh, and the salmon was especially good. I was dining with my son, and he finished almost his entire bento box with yakisoba and a California roll, which rarely happens since he's a picky eater! That alone made the visit worth it. The restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly, and the service was attentive. Overall, it was a great experience, and we'll definitely be back the next time we're at Brea Mall. From the first bite to the last dessert, everything was delicious and made our family dinner so special. The sashimi was incredibly fresh, sweet, and clean tasting. The Deluxe Sashimi is definitely worth ordering -- and it even comes with sweet shrimp! The BBQ beef short ribs were super tender, juicy, and full of flavor. My daughter loved it so much she said we had to order another plate! We also highly recommend the Truffle Tuna Nachos, Yellowtail Carpaccio, and the Kabuki Specialty Roll -- every dish was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented. As always the food here is good. Service can be slow but at times when they're not super busy you can get a good server. It's typically average here in terms of ambiance. Sometimes it's louder than other times. I have had the tempura shrimp roll, and fried tempura which have always been good. I've had the dream blast which is too much but always yummy! Years later, and this is still my favorite place for sushi and happy hour. I love the hot sake and the sake sangria. This place has the best hibachi rice ever. They have wonderfully priced rolls during happy hour. I always get a Philadelphia roll, and share a hibachi fried rice with my husband and other yummy apps. I love the Krab salad. The food is good. This Kabuki is smaller than the Rancho Cucamonga location. Our server was nice but seemed to forget about us from time to time. We got our soups first and it took about 15 min in to finally just get our glasses of water. The Tiger Roll could have been tighter and more refined, but it was a generous portion. This is one of our go to restaurants in the area. They usually have parking available not too far and have indoor and outdoor seating area. They are pet friendly in their patio. We came in for a late lunch and were seated almost right away. I absolutely love their soft shell crab dish that does NOT show up on the menu, you need to ask if they have it as it's seasonal. They serve it on a skillet with onions and lemon. The eel nigiri here is delicious! We ate it before I could snap a picture. We were a bit surprised on the spicy tuna hand roll presentation but it still tasted really good. Their spicy tuna is just spicy enough. This is the first time trying their kimchi hibachi rice which was also tasty. Probably not what I expected, but we still really enjoyed it. The cilantro albacore rice was perfect! The sauce it came with had a kick to it that just completed the dish. My mom really enjoyed her roll. For dessert we shared the tempura banana which is my favourite dessert! We were shopping at Men's warehouse and saw and this place from across the parking lot so we decided to grab dinner here. It was early dinner we at 6pm on Saturday. We got a table for 2. My husband and I had the platter, feeds 1-2 people for $40, it was good amount of food. For some reason we ate 3/4 and were full. It came with 1 bowl each or miso soup and 1 bowl of salad, 2 bowls of rice and we did drink a lot of soda while waiting for the food. I had to ask for wasabi which server brought out with ginger. It took a while to get the server attention for refill and then when we were finish to ask for a togo box and our check so we can leave. The server was busy covering the dinning room, front desk and answering phones in the bar. The bathroom was completely out of toilet paper and seat liners. I notified staff. It has been a couple of weeks since we went. I won't go back. While the food was good and presentations looked great; the service was lacking.. Beverages-never asked or brought refills of anything. Never brought us the little dishes used for soy sauce, when I asked they only brought out one dish for the table. Never brought or offered us wasabi/ginger. But the absolute never again is because we had a dish delivered to our table that we did not order, by the time we got our servers attention it had been sitting for over 5 minutes at our table. The server checked with another server and checked the little ordering machine then took it to another table. They should have tossed it and made it new for them. The food at this place is good! I have seen a lot of negative reviews about the food quality, however when I went it was surprisingly amazing. I went on a Saturday night around 5:00 pm and it was not packed at all. I tried several rolls and plates including the Alaskan Roll, Ramen, Sunkissed Roll (my favorite), and the Cilantro Albacore Roll (a Kabuki exclusive). All of these dishes were good and had good flavor. The broth of the ramen well seasoned and had good taste. The service at this place is okay as they seem to be short staffed sometimes. It took me longer to get some rolls because the waiter made a mistake in the order, but they finally brought it towards the end of my meal. The ambience at this place is good. Kabuki is located in the corner of the Target shopping center. Parking has been a bit more cramped and challenging since the huge apartment building was built on the corner. The restaurant has the typical Japanese restaurant feel with well positioned tables and booths as well as a counter sushi bar. Outdoor seating is also available. Greetings from the host/hostess and from the sushi chefs have always been genuine and friendly. Greetings from the servers lately has been mostly miss. Less than welcoming attitudes and lack of attention for drink refills have been a huge disappointment. Unfortunately, the best server we usually had (James) hasn't been working when we've come in. Food is well prepared and tasty. A new found favorite is their Krab Salad. It's quite a large portion of spring mix with cucumbers, daikon, crab "salad" and a delightful sesame dressing. I came around 11:30am on a Sunday and to my surprise, we were the only ones there. The restaurant was pretty nice and spacious, they even had an outdoor seating area. We walked in and we were greeted by the hostess who was very welcoming and kind enough to walk slow since I was with my 93 year old grandmother. Our waitress was okay... she didn't smile and I didn't really know where she was most of the time. The food was great, my grandma ordered a Nabeyaki udon, I ordered a tonkotsu ramen, and a salmon hand roll. The ramen was pretty good, but I especially enjoyed the salmon hand roll. There was a ton of salmon in it and it came with 2 pieces. Very well worth it. I'm pretty surprised they have a 3.5 star; Usually I would probably not go to a place with under 4 stars, but I gave it a shot because they're one of the only places in the area that has Nabeyaki udon (please add a tempura nabeyaki udon to the menu). I have been a fan of this Kabuki practically since I was a child. For years it was one of my favorite places to eat, but unfortunately over the past few years, the experience has steadily declined and it's become increasingly disappointing. Since COVID, it feels like the standards have slipped dramatically. I've noticed consistent changes that make it hard to enjoy a meal here anymore. The food quality is no longer what it once was, and the dishes now sometimes come with surprises you definitely do not want-- bugs in the food being the most shocking and unacceptable example. On top of that, the restaurant has been cutting costs on their drinks also. The iced tea tastes like cough syrup. It's sad to see a restaurant fall so far, and I can no longer in good conscience continue to support it. The servers are currently the only positive thing about this place. I truly hope management takes these issues seriously, because this Kabuki used to be very good. But as things stand now, I will not be returning. read more

Kabuki has always been my go to place for their beef teriyaki. They allow you to choose how you want the meet to cook and it always comes out juicy and perfect. It was my boyfriend's first time and I recommended the Salmon for him. He demolished this whole plate and was very pleased with the meal. Both plates came with the salad and soup before the meal. We also added the calamari appetizer because their spicy teriyaki is the perfect dipping sauce. Our server was very straight forward and did well with timing our meals out. The restaurant itself was not packed at all, as we came here the day before Christmas Eve. There were maybe 4 tables filled so it was nice to have a pretty quiet dinner amid all the holiday chaos. This establishment gained my business originally in 2013 when they sent a coupon out in the mail. I did a take out order, utilizing said coupon to give their food a try and have been dining here ever since. I have tried other locations, and they don't have the personalized touch the Brea location offers. Only "con": I do wish they had better customer service for their Red Mask Rewards. I visited Kabuki today and left genuinely upset with how the staff handled a situation that should have been taken seriously. I waited a few minutes to be seated, which wasn't an issue since they seemed short staffed. After sitting down, I ordered a water and a miso soup. When the server brought my order, he spilled the entire miso soup across the table and all over my jeans and shirt. Accidents happen, but what happened after is what really bothered me. There was no real apology, no acknowledgment of the soup on my clothes, and no manager ever checked in. I was simply handed a towel while they cleaned the table. That was the extent of the "response." This wasn't a small inconvenience. I was on my lunch break from work, and because my clothes were soaked with soup, I had to cross the street and buy a new outfit just to return to my job. That's time and money out of my day because the situation wasn't handled properly. Restaurants make mistakes, but most places step up immediately, apologize, involve a manager, and make sure the guest feels taken care of. None of that happened here. They comped one sushi roll but still charged me for the miso that ended up all over me and the other roll I ordered. The issue isn't the bill. It's the lack of basic hospitality, awareness, and responsibility from the staff. I'm sharing this because I hope the store and corporate take this seriously. This wasn't handled professionally at all, and it shows a real gap in training. A sincere apology, a manager's involvement, and some acknowledgment of the impact on my day would have gone a long way. Our family came here for dinner. I decided to order the chicken teriyaki with tempura. We've come here before but tonight the chicken was SO dry. It was actually crunchy on the inside. I haven't been to Kabuki for at least a decade and always forget there is one in this plaza. Popped in for happy hour on a weekday evening - no wait and the restaurant was only about 30% occupied. Happy hour is M-F from 2:30pm - 5:30pm. Happy hour menu was quite extensive with great prices. Between two, we shared the Krab Salad ($7.75), Spicy Tuna Roll ($4.75), Yellowtail Roll ($4.50), Large Roll ($4.75), BSCR Roll ($4.95), and Dynamite Roll ($8.50). Each roll comes with 6 cut pieces. I enjoyed the Krab Salad but would ask for dressing on the side next time as it was drenched in sauce. The Large Roll was similar to a Korean Kimbap with the seaweed on the outside filled with rice, avocado, egg, shrimp, cucumber, and pickled veggies. I was excited to try the dynamite roll but it fell a little short as the mushroom was quite raw and there was too much eel sauce on the bottom that overpowered the flavors of the sushi.
