The broth is so flavorful as well and has depth. I feel a lot of broths I've had lacked richness. I also feel like the toppings on the ramen are perfect; a ramen egg, kikurage mushroom, green onion, and the meat! The service has always been very friendly and I've never had a bad experience with any of the employees. The place itself is kept clean and I notice the workers cleaning off tables and other things as soon as they can. The restrooms are also very clean (big plus for me). She had a TV show playing nearby and seemed to spend a noticeable amount of time watching it rather than attending to customers. Unfortunately, the overall level of attentiveness and hospitality did not meet my expectations. The atmosphere initially seemed appealing, with the painted wall décor giving the space a cool and distinctive look. I have always been mindful to not attempt to order within 30 minutes of them closing. The service here is appalling and truly diminishes their potential for how great the spot could be considering the food they have. Food on the other hand is a total opposite of the service, very flavorful and strong punch of spice at a level 3. My go to is the Wonton ramen with a miso base. Crispy rice is a great starter to share. The garlic ramen is also a great contender if you have a garlic craving. Open layout feels like a mom and pop shop. Overall pretty clean establishment. The fan favorites are marked with a red flower, which helped narrow things down. We also asked our server for suggestions, which made it easier to navigate. We arrived just before 5pm and there was only one other table. We were told to sit anywhere we'd like. By the time we left, the restaurant was filling up and it seemed like there were quite a few regulars coming in. Here's what we tried: Salted edamame: Just average. A bit limp and not as crisp as I'm used to, so they didn't feel especially fresh. Gyoza: Really nice flavor and the dipping sauce was well balanced. These were solid. Yellowtail jalapeño sashimi: This was different in a good way. It had cilantro and a slightly sweeter sauce instead of the traditional garlic ponzu. Unexpected, but a pleasant surprise. Crispy chicken karaage: Slightly over fried but still flavorful. The dipping sauce helped. Crispy rice with spicy tuna: Just okay. One piece barely had tuna on top. Not bad, but not something I'd reorder. Cucumber salad: Served on a bed of iceberg lettuce, which surprised us, but the dressing had great flavor. This disappeared quickly. Nigiri: The salmon was incredibly fresh and one of the highlights. The albacore and toro came topped with fresh wasabi, which was a nice touch. We really enjoyed the salmon and albacore. The toro didn't quite melt in your mouth like we hoped. It was a bit chewy. Crazy Salmon Roll: Good flavor, but note that the salmon on the outside is fully cooked. We expected raw, so just something to keep in mind. Snow Mountain Roll: A fan favorite at the table. Great texture and flavor. Plain udon and plain ramen: Both were excellent. The broth was rich and flavorful, the noodles were cooked perfectly, and the portions were generous. We definitely over ordered, but we left very full. One small detail for fellow tea lovers: I always look forward to hot tea at a Japanese restaurant, especially when it's served in a small pot you can refill at the table. Here it was hot water with a tea bag in a metal cup, which was too hot to comfortably hold, and there was no teapot provided. Not a deal breaker, but next time I'd probably skip the tea. Service was strong. In addition to our main server, two other team members checked in and refilled water regularly, which we appreciated. Overall, I'd call it a 3.5 if that were an option, so I'm landing at 3 stars. The food was decent, the atmosphere comfortable, and the service attentive. It didn't completely wow us, but we're glad we tried it.

I was super excited to try this place because of the menu I read online. First off, the customer service from the guy server was amazing. He was very nice and professional. I enjoyed my time here just for the experience with him he gets two thumbs up. But unfortunately I was really dissatisfied from the food. I got the tonkatsu ramen expecting it would be similar to other tonkatsu I have had. The broth was good but the noodles they had used were very thin and tasted off. The girl server told me that they were out of the regular noodles and I wondered why she wouldn't have told me that before I ordered? Also they did not have chili oil, which to me is the best part of the ramen experience and brings it up a level. The eggs were okay but looked like they weren't done the proper way. Hate to leave bad reviews but I didn't enjoy my experience. I will probably try again they had a new school ramen dish which probably is good I don't know. The appetizers could be really good and maybe I'll stay away from the ramen. And bring my own chili oil if I decide to try the ramen again read more

Zen Street is a pretty good place to have a date but there are items on the menu that could make someone think of someplace else for a date. When I went I ordered the chicken dumplings? I think...and the drunken ramen. The drunken ramen was pretty good with a hint of spicy in it. My experience however, starts with the waiter. I was not able to catch his name but I asked the waiter what he recommended on the menu. He asked me a series of questions including if I wanted ramen or rice and other questions catering to my preferences and based his recommendation based on that. I believe that he did a superior job at recommending a dish and overall I enjoyed it. When the check came, the bill was fair but based on my experience with the waiter, I gave them a good tip. (: Bottom line: It's a good date place that gives you a lot of attention that is well within reasonable price. Haven't even ate my food yet but I can't and won't rate this any higher for the fact that I stood at the front for 9 minutes and I'm sure it would've been longer if I didn't yell at bang on the counter loud enough for the workers in the back to here. Literally had to yell for someone's attention because one of the workers walked to the front and apparently didn't notice me standing there so she walked right back. Don't care how good you're food is, terrible customer service. Place was empty and couldn't even get decent service. So I came here after eating at their first location in banning for years and now I relocated to Riverside so might as well check them out. I was recommended deep fried chicken fritters and drunken ramen. Their servers are friendly amd very attentive. The drunken ramen IS SPICY. BE WARNED. But it also depends on the chilli lot they said. This place was the bomb when I found it over a year ago. But recently restaurant has gone through what I think is a managerial change for the worse. The ramen is watered down, cold. I recommended a co-worker to the location and he complained to me about the same thing. I checked it out and was heartbroken. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and if you blink you might miss it. The ambiance is quaint and cozy I believe it may only seat about 25 people. We were greeted and seated. The server was super knowledgeable because neither of us knew the name of our dishes but she knew exactly what we wanted. Food was delicious with a healthy portion. My curry chicken was a level two spicy which next time I'll take down to a 1. ( I'm not a spicy person). We also had the chai tea which was deliciously sweet. I can't wait to bring my daughter back to enjoy this little gem.

She was the only one there that day but even when understaffed, she handled everything from waiting multiple tables, taking calls, and packing takeout, very well under pressure. What stood out the most was that she did all of this with a smile. We'd really like to give her a shoutout if she's reading this or if the manager can see this, please give her our compliments. I believe that every price point should have a sushi option and this was a great budget friendly one with quality ingredients. The rice was well cooked and not too hard or mushy and the menu had a little something for everyone, even if you don't do raw fish. I'm so glad my friend brought me here and bonus.
