This place is a little jewel. I've stopped here several times for lunch with my son. And my son is the one who actually told me about this place. He had come here several times with a couple of his friends from college and said I needed to give it a try. I ordered biscuits and gravy and it's not like your typical biscuits and gravy. It just has way more flavor than you would expect. I sampled a few other various items off the menu and everything was outstanding. The staff is very nice and courteous and it's just a cozy little place to go and get some food. It's also very clean inside and it's one of these businesses that if you're not paying attention, you'll just drive right past. It's kind of hidden out of the way, but it is definitely worth going. It's not a huge restaurant and I didn't have any trouble finding parking. It also wasn't very busy at the time that we went so I would imagine it will get busy with the breakfast or lunch rush but both times that I've been it's been really nice. We didn't realize this place was the old Meat Up. Odd location but def a better one for brunch. No eggs Benedict on the menu is odd but plenty of other options. We each got an omelet. Potatoes were too big for what we like. The cheeses jalapeño grits were really good. Omelets were okay. Came out to Denton today and found this restaurant. It's unassuming from the outside but inside is such a vibe. It's perfectly decorated the little cozy rooms that you could sit with your girlfriends or have some private space. We ordered the lemon blueberry crêpes and the ham, egg and cheese croissant sandwich. Both were exceptionally delicious! But the star of the show was the sugar-free caramel latte. We are connoisseurs of lattes wherever we go and this was by far the best we've had. Hidden around a small corner outside of Denton square is this adorable restraint. L'Amitie Bistro is tucked inside an old building, and the charm of the old place remains constant throughout your experience. It honestly felt like I was going to a families house for lunch... it was just that comfortable and peaceful there. They played old French music - but lightly so you can hear it but let it be the focus of your experience. I ordered the caprese panini and it came with homemade chips. It was delightful! Some caprese sandwiches feel like they're missing some with me at other restaurants... like I could have slapped it together myself. Back again! The little building keeps trying! This time we are here for brunch before a big shopping day! The service was excellent, and we started with some nice latte's, and I had the French Madeline! They have a good selection of syrups to add in! The Dirty Chai was also amazing! We enjoyed the beignets, which were a little different, but we got gentle crispy outsides, and soft fluffy insides, so we were pretty happy! However, we came for the Belgian Waffle! L'Amitie Bistro is my friends name, and if you are familiar with the French language you already know that L'Amitie means "Friendship". We came as a party of 8 this morning to celebrate an early Mother's Day. The French country ambience was lovely and our tables were ready the moment we walked in the door. Our server, Kate, was friendly and attentive. She even took our 80 year old mother by the hand and escorted her to the lady's room. But even more amazing, she sought us out and found us in the parking lot because my 19 year old daughter accidentally left a white envelope at her seat with "$100" written on the outside of it, a gift given to her from her grandmother earlier this morning. Kate could've easily kept it and we would have understood and considered it a good life lesson. Kate's integrity, alone, ought to be recognized and commended. I almost swapped the grits to potatoes but I am glad I didn't. They were absolutely delish. The serving sizes are quite large. My husband would love this place too. The menu is huge and varied. My husband and I had brunch here on our 30th Anniversary. We made a reservation in advance and they saved us the cutest table behind a half wall where we could still see the restaurant but were more secluded and it was adorable! This was our first time here and it did not disappoint! Our drinks were perfect- I got a London fog earl grey and my husband tried a seasonal coffee. We started with a biscuits and sausage gravy and it was absolutely perfect. The gravy had so much flavor and is not the boring bland traditional southern white gravy. I opted for a seasonal omelette and my husband had a seasonal/special waffle so unfortunately we haven't tried anything on their standard menu beyond the biscuits and gravy. But the food was all outstanding. The service was excellent. And at the end of our meal they brought us a chocolate croissant with Happy Anniversary on it! I went to yoga in the area and my friend wanted to go to brunch. I pulled up my hand dandy yelp and found this place. We drove up and this was a nice little restaurant in downtown Denton. There was a wait, so I ordered a Dirty Chai. It was pretty good but had to add-in additional sugar free syrup. We were seated and I ordered a cranberry mimosa and the croissant sandwich with breakfast potatoes. This was a decent sandwich. I only ate 1/2 of everything. We've come here multiple times by now. We just moved here and found this place that has the best fried chicken with waffles. Every time we go our whole family of 5 gets that to eat. First time we came the service was aaaaamazing, she said she was the owner's niece I believe. But after a couple of times after the service definitely went down. It's a very cute place! I'm reviewing it within its first week, so let's assume some of the kinks are still being worked out. It's not at all clear what to do when you walk in, so I'll let ya know: walk toward the noise, order at the counter, then find your table. We actually weren't sure what to do so we ordered coffee first, sat down, and then went back to the counter to order. Coffee: Drip coffee is self-serve, so you can get refills whenever you want! There's only one coffee option and it's also okay, nothing impressive. The cappuccino was good, though milk options are limited. Never thought I would say this, but let's talk about syrup! They don't give you any with pancakes and waffles so be ware! Ask for syrup. Or, if you're daring, you can try what they do give you, which is a melted-butter-maple-syrup blend. We aren't sure what this place "French." But if you're expecting croissants I have bad news for you. They don't have 'em. The biscuits and gravy were yummy! The breakfast Americana is good, but not great. Pancakes and waffles are pretty standard. Breakfast paninis have great options but are kind of dry. Parking is the same as it has been for every place in this spot. Get here early, get lucky, or good luck! I think the noise level was the most problematic aspect of the entire experience. The music is loud, and they have done nothing to dampen sound in the big, open, loud space. We couldn't hear each other and it was kind of overwhelming. The people who work here are all super nice! Very helpful, happy to grab you something, and always ready to refill your water. We will come back, only because the counter service and self-serve coffee eliminate so many of the headaches of the service issues at most breakfast spots. They had lovely fruit jam for my biscuit and hot sauce for my scrambled egg. The grits were cheesy, creamy goodness. The chai tea was delicious, sweet and paired well with my sides. First visit early in the week, earlier in the morning, the omelet was delicious, fluffy, just really good, sausage gravy was obviously scratch made. Entire meal very good. This morning the omelet was rubbery flat, not good at all, the gravy didn't taste as good, it had huge chunks of sausage, the grits also had a strange taste, almost chemical, and there was nothing dirty about the dirty chai, it tasted more like a glass of milk. Maybe a different cook?? Not sure, they were very busy, but consistency will make or break a restaurant.
