Healthy, friendly, bright, and homey, Zeralda's is a great spot for lunch or a bite before a hike. We had the coconut curry bowl and the poke bowl and both were excellent. I guess you can call me a foodie snob, especially since I have lived and traveled around the world. I have eaten incredible foods from all over including eating at many Michelin-star restaurants. Every time I stop by Zeralda's Bistro and try one of their incredible desserts, I can't believe I'm eating it in Juneau, Alaska (no offense) Along with delicious desserts their food selection never disappoints either. This place is a fast food place. Mostly serving takeouts. We came on Thursday, Ramen day. Our family ordered four ramens. The ramen and ramen soup were served in plastic bowls. Good, unique food made from scratch. The Asian style brisket bowl was delicious, and so was the burger. It would be nice if they did a lettuce wrap version since they have iceberg on the menu. The ambiance is friendly and warm (though it was cold inside on a very stormy eve.) It seemed a bit steep for what we got--a couple up-charges maybe? Most of the staff was friendly and had a happy vibe, except for one counter/cleaning person who was totally snotty. No need for withering answers if someone doesn't know where you keep your ketchup. My wife loves the chicken coconut curry and I usually get the hillbilly burger. A solid choice that i will say is really good. Unfortunately I tried to branch out and try the fried chicken sandwich special. I have to be honest, I don't know what they were trying to do flavor wise but it missed the mark. Super good food and pretty nice staff. I had an extremely hard time getting a refund however when they messed up my order. At first the lady told me that they couldn't find my order and it must have been a long time ago when in fact I called an hour after I got my food (was on my way home from work) I then basically had to argue with her in order to get my refund. When my friend went to go pick it up for me they were kinda rude to her and basically said they didn't know what she was talking about so I called in again and told them I was owed a gift card/certificate and after that they quickly wrote one up. Zerelda's has become our favorite Juneau restaurant. We eat here once or twice a week (Thursday ramen night and Saturday breakfast) and Abby and her staff treat us like family. To me, I go to restaurants to either "get food" or have a food experience. You can taste the passion for cooking in Abby's work. Creative without being pretentious. Ample serving size without being unnecessarily oversized. Tons of flavor! Prices seem to be spot on for the quality and quantity of the food. I've only been In Juneau one week and I've found my go to spot here. You know you've found your place when two things happen. One, when you call to order and the phones are ringing off the hook in the background. Two, you get legitimately mad when you want to order something and it's already sold out because it's so good. My family and I have eaten and enjoyed the burrito, tacos, ramen (top 3) , burger, and pulled pork bowl and a couple others. Small number of dining tables, order and pay at the counter and get a number for your order, self-service for water, cutlery. This place was packed when we arrived. Perfect place for a small gathering to celebrate our marriage vows. Along with a handful of our dearest friends we chose Zereldas for our wedding meal. The setting was perfect, our server Robin was warm, patient and knowledgeable. The menu is limited to about 5 entrees; everything is cooked perfectly with very special ingredients in their relatively small kitchen. The food was outstanding. We ordered one of each of the four appetizers ( prawns, scallops, Brie and pork belly, all pallet pleasing and fantastically different. Among us we ordered each of the main courses and all 8 of us, were pleased . The desserts sounded amazing, but we were all too full. With 4 starters, 2 bottles of wine and 8 entries we spent about $50 a head. Worth every bite for this special occasion, and most of us had leftovers to take home. read more

Abby's step into fine dining is no timid affair. A constantly updating menu leaves me wishing I had room in my calendar and budget to stop in weekly to see what new wonders have been created. Overall the service is decent, we've had great servers and seemingly inexperienced servers, so it's not the staffing that we keep going back for. It's all about the food. Zerelda's Bistro excels at giving the palette something to consider. New flavors, unexpected combinations and an eagerness to please in every dish. When my wife and I go, we have a tendency to plan to take a large doggy bag home at the end, so we're willing to try a couple apps, salad(s), and entrees - we just can't resist. We've been known to order one of each dessert too. Critiques? Not many. Beverages feel expensive for the size, but there's a good assortment of quality options. It's the spot you want to be sure to get reservations for or else you might not be eating there tonight... And all this is just about dinner. Lunch holds its own, as far as food goes, but expect to serve yourself and place an order at a counter. Sometimes there can be a wait so be sure to ask if you need to get moving quickly. Do yourself a favor and order a burger - if you're vegan, beware you may be tempted to swing the other way if your date has one of these. It's the most mouthwatering, fresh, delectable burger available in town. I'd skip the chips and go for the salad - the chips don't appear to be anything special, but the salad doesn't slouch. Overall, zerelda's bistro will be award winning in several categories if Abby tosses her hat into the ring. It is, hands down, the best new restaurant to spring up in Juneau in a long, long time. Mediocre at best. Came for dinner last weekend. The food was okay, but the service was impressively poor. We waited a solid 15 minutes to order drinks, another 20 to receive the drinks, then 15 more before we were able to order food. The food came out in a reasonable time frame, but by then everyone at our table was beyond hangry. We ordered the beer cheese appetizer, green chili mac and cheese, and two rice bowls. All of which was okay, but could be made better at home. All in all, I wanted to love this place, but this was my second bad experience, and I do not plan on returning. read more
