I just got my Alienware x17 r2 back from Chris. After ruling out Bios as the source of the problem, Chris determined that the Intel and NVIDIA processors were not completing handoffs, causing my laptop to have difficulties restarting (and finally unrevivable by me). To save me an expensive fix (or the cost of a new computer), Chris disabled the Intel processor and auto restart function, and invented a work around to fool the laptop into recognizing a nonexistent external monitor, which allows for smooth startup. My laptop now runs faster than ever. Thanks, Chris! It must also be said that, in this era of automated phone trees and silo-ed support staff, when every customer service experience is an insult, it is refreshing and uplifting to actually speak to Chris and receive coherent explanations. What had happened was that I had bought a new laptop from LG (~9 months ago) and its' performance was just so weirdly slow from the time I brought it home. In particular, the proxy setting just would not turn off no matter how many times I disabled it. Plus, the PC performance was horrifically slow. Not a good sign and I did a lot of malware scans with no luck on finding any issue. Finally, I got fed up and, after a bit of research, I found Allstate. The guy at the repair shop was super nice and attentive to my observations. The end result was excellent - all the issues were fixed (proxy and computer speed) and my PC is as it should be - fast and efficient and it has been 3 months of excellent performance.
