After ruling out Bios as the source of the problem, Chris determined that the Intel and NVIDIA processors were not completing handoffs, causing my laptop to have difficulties restarting (and finally unrevivable by me). To save me an expensive fix (or the cost of a new computer), Chris disabled the Intel processor and auto restart function, and invented a work around to fool the laptop into recognizing a nonexistent external monitor, which allows for smooth startup. My laptop now runs faster than ever. Thanks, Chris! It must also be said that, in this era of automated phone trees and silo-ed support staff, when every customer service experience is an insult, it is refreshing and uplifting to actually speak to Chris and receive coherent explanations. Seriously, if I could find people as helpful as Chris every time I needed someone... I found Chris on Yelp after trying a couple other places who utterly disappointed and I had to keep my search going. I don't know that I've ever worked with anyone who is easier and more enjoyable to communicate with, lets me drop off and pick up my laptop any hour of the day (it can be left at a secured front desk), and he was by far the most knowledgeable computer person I've talked to. He even came up with a super-creative temporary solution to hold me over until a part came in. He insisted on not charging me until all repairs were complete and he was always offering information on the most cost-effective solutions and what all of the options were. Like others, I came across Chris following somebody else's error (which resulted in a loss of my precious data) From the beginning, Chris' primary concern was my data and what he could do to restore as much of it as possible. I needed to have my old laptop completely copied onto my new laptop and additionally have the windows 8 made to work like windows 7. I also needed this done over the weekend before the work week started-- Chris worked till 4am to get this done. Apparently the task was far more time consuming then we both anticipated as there was a massive amount of data and programs to be transferred and configured, and my previous IT guy had countless outlook account files spread across random folders on my pc. I also added to the complication because I did not remember any of the passwords for the accounts on the computer and he had to "recover" them. Chris saved my computer and in so doing saved my a--. I am usually able to fix most stuff but this was beyond my fairly decent skills. Windows 10 registry corrupted and the thing would just reboot over and over again.
