Zig Zag is a new, trendy pizza place similar in style to Breakwater just down the street. Good music plays throughout (mostly 60s and 70s rock, good stuff), and folks were filtering in and out consistently, so it's already got some good buzz. The pizza order taker dude was very friendly, and made plenty of small talk with me and my wife. Then we ordered our salad with someone else, then paid with someone else after heading to the coolers to get drinks. The ordering process feels a little clunky, and I can see it getting backed up when it's busier. The food overall was good. Pizza really good, salad not so good, beer always good. You just can't have too many pizza places! This one in particular is a real gem and a great addition to downtown Oceanside. My husband and I both ordered our own unique pizzas with entirely different veggies and crust. It was all 1005 delicious! Naturally, my husband was able to finish his pizza and felt happily full. I had a few slices left over and they have boxes conveniently set out to take home anything you have left - awesome. This place is awesome! I had the Roadhouse blues pizza and it was yummy. My Mom had the You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet pizza. Also they offered to pay for my Mom's pizza because she was looking for the Money in her purse. But we said you don't have to pay because she found the money in her purse. I really like the concept of this place and the decor, too. 5 of us split two pizzas and one salad, but we are small eaters. Ingredients were fresh. Crust and sauce were not great and salad dressing was flavorless, too. I just want to start off by saying it's definitely a nice pizza joint to get a beer and a pie! Dalton, the young gentleman that was helping us with our order, informed us that they ran out of a main ingredient on a pizza that we ordered. So he proceeded to make sure that the rest of our evening was taken care of and we got our pizzas the same time as the rest of the family that we are sharing the evening with! Checked this place out when I was meeting a friend. When you first walk in you are greeted with a wall of beer which immediately grabbed my attention. They had many crafts beers which is awesome. Then they have a selection of pizza and salads. We got the number one hit pizza and it was delicious. They have fun color plates to go with it . Every time I come here my tastebuds fight my sensibilities. The pizza is great but the service is the most infuriating thing ever. I've been here dozens of times and interacted with a bunch of different employees and they are consistently rude. You'd think their ranch is made of gold the way you have to fight tooth and nail for it. I placed an order over the phone and asked for 6 ranches with my two pizzas since I know they charge extra now. When I arrived and checked my boxes there was no ranch so I asked for the six sides I ordered and the lady very bluntly said "I can give you four, otherwise we have to charge." I said that's fine that's what I need so I got my credit card out again to pay and then she said "it's fine. But you really need to say that when you order." Great pizza! I've eaten at a Pizza Studio which is a similar style restaurant that started at USC. This was far superior. I had a vegetarian pizza that was a chef creation or specialty. Super tasty. We had a ZZTop (all meat), pepperoni only, and cheese only. All were really good the crust was crisp and thin. It didn't droop either! What we liked was the ability to get wine or beer too. I discovered ZigZag on my way to the pier a few days ago. When I walked in, I immediately noticed the glass fridges with huge assortment of beverages ranging from craft beers (yes!) to juice, water, and more. That was a plus! You can order a pizza and salad. They have seven pizzas on the menu but you also have a choice to make your own. The price isn't bad at all. The guy behind the counter was really helpful and explained everything to me since it was my first time there. They also have salads, but I didn't get to try it. Back to the pizza, the pizza is thin crust and was a good size to share between two people. The toppings were fresh and they have a generous amount. ZigZag Pizza is REALLY good, better than Pieology and Blaze! Especially the crust. Also it's not greasy like the other choose-your-own pizza places. And they have a HUGE selection of beer and beverages. It's connected to the Wyndham hotel and although you aren't allowed to take beer on their outside patio I was able to get back to the room with it (through the side door). The salads are amazing too! You get to choose your own ingredients. It looks like a small bowl when you get it, but they really pack it in. We split it in two. I definitely recommend ZigZag Pizza!! read more

This place is legit. I took my family here wanting to try a new pizza joint. Parking is a pain but well worth it. We liked that the pizzas are small so we could order 3 different types for our family of 4. Prices were fairly priced especially for the quality of food. Drinks are a little weird. Kind of expensive for a soda especially for the kids. Also the beer prices are a bit overpriced. The reason people go to a bar/resturant is to be served. If I'm getting a 6 pack of Coors light I would just take the pizza home. But none the less the atmosphere, and pizza make up for the other 2. Definitely got to go there. read more

Zigzag has 5 star pizza, with a pizza of the month that the employees invent, and beer for days. I haven't tried the same thing twice yet and every pizza has been good. If your hungry you better get 2 as they are personal sized and not meant for sharing but it's so hard when you want others to experience the mouth watering joy of this one of a kind pizza. Staff is chill and laid back even when the place is crazy busy. But let's face it when it's busy be prepared to wait on yourself. Stopped here tonight with my family for the first time. We really loved it. They had such good prices on the pies! Almost all pies about 8.50 and feeds 1-2 people. I went to this place after work to meet up and have dinner with the boyfriend. Food was good. What was unacceptable was the homeless man who was drinking there coming up to everyone in the place asking "what our favorite team was" even after we and other customers explain they were trying have a nice dinner with their company. My husband and I love ZigZags. We usually get our food to go since the place can get pretty packed. His favorite is the ZZ Top and I love The Stairway to Heaven. The staff is mostly friendly, but you do get an occasional rude worker. They could defiantly benefit from a larger place. read more
