They performed unauthorized diagnostics on my BMW that did not even fix the problem and charged me for something that they did not even fix. They said they had to tow my car for a 2nd opinion (again with out my knowledge and approval) and that I was now responsible for the cost of the $350.00 tow. Took my BMW car to Zimmerman and should have a 1 year warranty, he won't honor it, he said he changed the head gasket and found out by BMW ROCKVILLE was never changed. It still has the leak And won't fix it, I spent over 4K fixing my car by this company, and now he wont fix it. Be careful he will take advantage of people and women who don't know much about cars. Ended up Had to pay for the same service because it wasn't done right and he won't honor his warranty. This was the worst experience I have ever had. I've been coming here for a few years and Zimmerman has provided consistently good service. I have Toyota Camry and its still in great condition thanks to great regular maintenance by Zimmerman. Only downside is that wait times can be lengthy and there's really not much to do around the shop. They do offer complimentary coffee and tea and free wifi while you wait. BMW dealership had one of the best customer service and products. But on my last visit to the dealership, I was disappointed with the repair cost. I suppose I should be grateful that car-abuse isn't a crime, because I abuse my car. A lot. Oil changes? Only once a year. Tune-ups? Unless that has something to do with getting an iPod dock installed in my car, I'm not interested. Topping off fluids? Uhh, gas is a fluid and that's as close as I'm going to get. As for the body of my car...well, I'm not an Asian female driver for nothing (yes, my driving is what started that stereotype)... Needless to say, my husband has bravely undertaken the Herculean task of maintaining my car which has been made a little easier with Zimmerman Automotive. Prior to bringing my car to Zimmerman, my husband got a quote from another garage. To change my timing belt, water pump and a couple other things (not including checking out my AC - which has been dead for 2 years, but I can't be bothered to get it fixed), it would cost around $900. Yeah, I won't get into the huge lecture I got about how if I just maintained the car, it wouldn't have cost so much...but honestly, if you rack up the cost of the maintenance, plus how much time out of my day it would take to deal with this, and the annoyance of it all - I think $900 is super cheap. But I digress. After getting the quote, my dad recommends Zimmerman's because the wife of the owner is a customer of my dad's. So our relationship is nil, however, as it's only a block or so away from our house, my husband decided to give them a shot. To do the EXACT same work as detailed on the quote by the other garage - Zimmerman charged us $475! Yes, $475, not $900!!! THEN he also took a look at my AC and filled it up with some magical AC coolant thingie for $60. He also says that my AC compressor thingie is shot - but that it'll probably last for another year or so, so if we wanted to, we could wait (which was magical music to my ears while my husband got a migraine from trying to convince me to fix it now...yeah he lost)...so we got the car all fixed up for around $550! My husband also brought his car in to get his tires changed, which ended up costing about the same as other garages, but the huge savings that we got on fixing up my car has definitely made us a fan! read more

I came about a half dozen times between 2016-2018 because I wanted to try a new place for oil changes. The first thing I noticed was that they take a LONG time. I think my average oil change time was around 2 hours. Their labor prices are pretty reasonable. I had them replace my engine accessory belt on my civic for $90. However, now it squeaks pretty regularly. They always had a "recommendation" about a problem my car needed fixed. First they told me my front axle seals were leaking and could take care of it next time for $387. After getting that taken care of they told me my valve cover gasket was leaking ... $200. I got fed up with the long service times so took it to my old mechanic. First thing he told me was that the oil pan drain plug had been glued in place with some kind of sealant, and when he took the sealant off, the plug almost fell out. Apparently Zimmerman stripped the drain plug threads and rather than telling me, just decided to cover the problem with sealant. Obviously this wasn't a pre-existing condition because if it were, you can bet Zimmerman would have told me immediately so they could charge me for it. And I asked my new mechanic if there was any oil leaking around the valve gasket. Would you be shocked to hear that they detected no oil leaking from the gasket? The car got healed! It's a miracle! Before I started coming here I saw a few negative reviews, but figured the people must have been picky or done something wrong. Now I guess I'm one of them. Based on how the owner likes to discredit negative reviews, I can't wait to see his response. read more

I will be very honest. I started to take my car here because I was tired of being charged more at the dealership. You get what you pay for. I never got much done here. Oil changes mostly. I've been getting oil changes done here for about 6 months. Last week my Check Engine light came on so I took it over. Zimmerman's couldn't read the code from my engine and recommended I take it to the dealership. Okay. I get that. What the dealership found was horrifying. There was oil EVERYWHERE. The cause? Botched oil changes. Old, recycled oil. My oil supply seal worn away. Oil all over the Camshaft sensors. Hoses ruined from burning oil. The oil filter was COVERED in oil. That sort of thing doesn't happen overnight. But wait, there's more. Zimmermans had also done a 'tune up'. Change of spark plugs, the works. What did the dealership find? Factory issued spark plugs. THEY DIDN'T CHANGE JACK SHIT. I ended up spending over $1,500 on repairs that resulted on botched jobs from Zimmerman's. $1,500 because Zimmermans didn't take the time to do it right. Simple things that if they had done a proper oil change and proper tune-up, I wouldn't be paying for. Repairs to the Camshaft sensors, hoses, gaskets (which were MISSING...uh, HELLO?), oil plug seal, and top engine cleaning. Because there was sludge everywhere. If you want cheap maintenance and repairs, by all means go here. But you will get what you pay for and it'll cost you more down the road. Zimmermans will be lucky if I don't walk into their shop demanding every penny I spent on them back and show them the "new spark plugs" they put in my car. read more

Saw the check-in deal for $5 off an oil change and the 5-star reviews so decided to check em out. Went in for an oil change at 11:30am on a Friday, which was later than I had wanted to get there and fully expected to have to wait. I was pleasantly surprised when they said they could take care of me right away, especially after seeing the garage looked pretty full. The deal saved me $5 off of $25 I guess to make the oil change $20. It's not THE best deal around, but it's still hard to beat and a great value IMO if you don't have to wait that long. Afterwards the guy didn't try to sell me on the other work that needed to be done on my car and simply pointed out the information on my invoice, which I appreciate. This place is a gem. I was in a pinch to get a battery replacement for my Bimmer (battery lasted me over 6 years so this was a first time replacement). My experience all started when Dan (the owner) answered the phone. He was very pleasant and I did not feel rushed, like I did with previous calls. I even called him right back with another question and he was extremely helpful and patient. I asked if I could come in and have the battery replaced same day he advised that I could without hesitation- even though it was close to their closing time. Once there I continued to bug him about things I needed for my truck and I even asked if they could perform an oil change really fast- Dan's response- yes. I was pressed for time and they had several customers ahead of me and they still got me out of there in about an hour. Although great service is extremely important to me I have yet to get to the most important part...they are REASONABLY priced. I don't think I've ever said that when talking about my truck. These guys are nice, no-nonsense mechanics. When they gave me an estimate they were thorough with what they thought was wrong, and why. I felt like I was getting an honest answer, not some fluff-piece upsell. For $767 I got the water pump and brake booster fixed, plus another $100 to get the spark plugs 'n cables replaced (a possible reason for why the car would lug when accelerating from a stop). The car runs fine now and is very responsive. Despite the distance I will gladly go back to Zimmerman Auto for future car issues. the only drawback is that it can be easy to miss where the business entrance is. perhaps a flashier sign would help? I was in today to get my oil changed, tires rotated and air conditioning fixed. Dan saw that my windshield wipers were pretty shot, so he replaced those too. It looks like my air conditioning is an electrical problem, so instead of having me sit there all day, I'm dropping it off later in the week, so they can spend more time on it. Not only did he honor the time that I could bring the car, but he also honored the time limit he said it would take (30 mins). That means a lot to me because I've been to mechanics who say bring your car in now and you race over to find 10 people ahead of you. Or been told that it'll take an hour and you're frustrated that 3 hours of waiting has gone by. And the waiting room? I felt spoiled a bit. It was a nice waiting room, with coffee, but the best part? It was clean! I've done my car waiting purgatory in the dingiest of places and I felt like I accumulated more germs and dirt than service. As for the owner? Friendly and competent. When I moved back to Maryland, I was looking for an independent workshop for my Audi A6. My car pushed me further to look for a shop, when I was informed by other mechanic that the twin turbos have seen the end of their life. I found Zimmerman through Yelp, and Dan checked my car and informed me of the same, but the response and quote I got from him sounded more honest than the other guy. I took a chance and got both my turbos,water pump, and timing belt replaced. This work is more complicated than it sounds, as for this particular model of A6, you have to pull out the engine to reach the turbos. I got the car in 3-4 days, as promised by Dan. He got me the original Borg Warner turbos with warranty and even showed me the boxes of it and my old turbos, without even asking. Of course, as honest as he is, he reduced the price of turbo cores from the final bill, again without asking. I have taken my car for regular maintenance to him since then, and even though it is 42 miles away from my house, the peace of mind in knowing that an honest guy will be supervising the work done in my car, is well worth the drive. So, if you have an import that is eying your wallet, give a try to Dan and save some money and hassle of dealing with dishonest shops. read more

My 2015 50k mile Nissan Sentra needed the clutch replaced. Was also recommended to do a coolant flush. After getting my car back, the clutch felt off and when brought to the attention of the mechanics, they said it was because the clutch was new. 2 days after getting my car back, my car breaks down. I get it towed to the shop. I'm told by Sopak that because I hook my phone to the usb to the car that it blew a fuse causing the radiator to break and I need to get it replaced. I'm told they can fix the car in a couple days. After over 3 weeks of delays for the new radiator, I text them letting them know I'd like to tow my car back. The next day they order the part and the day after the car is fixed. Will not return and do not appreciate being gaslit by Sopak during this whole experience. My clutch now works fine and my biggest regret is not taking it to another shop as they clearly somehow messed up the coolant flush costing me over an extra $1,200 read more
