They provided me with an unsafe car. Something felt very wrong with the car brakes, and the "maintenance required" light was on. I immediately returned the car and reported the problem. They refused to provide a refund for the trip.

I'm an avid fan of Boston start-ups and entrepreneurs. Boston really produces the best of the best. But zipcar is one company I'd love to see go the way of Theranos. I booked a zipcar on 9/15 for an important event in Boston, I reside in Florida but am from Boston. Seemed simple enough. While I'm on the plan almost in Boston, they email me that my car has been reassigned to a Crv. I didn't mind, it seemed like an upgrade to me. And an hour later, they cancelled the entire booking because of mechanical issues. Huh? Why happened to the car I originally chose? And why would you assign a car before inspecting it? So there I was at Logan absolutely pissed. And worse yet, stranded. There are no rental cars available at the airport, there's no Uber cars to rent, I check surrounding rental car places, there's not a single car in boston available to rent. I call zipcar and basically got "our bad sorry", and same response via email. This company is an abject failure and disgrace. There's no remedy for my situation other than following through on what I paid you in advance to do. Your irredeemable actions ruined a lot of people's weekend. I want to see this company crushed to nothing. Not new leadership, not vouchers or credits...no, I want this company to cease from existence. I want the leadership of this company to never be at the helm of any company ever. That's exactly what would bring me joy right now. You absolute cluster of an organization. Get bent. I've attached photos, please look at the dates. If Zipcar gets brave enough to gaslight me in response to this post, I'll edit it to include the photos of the response of zipcar not giving the slight crap about the aforementioned issues. Use Turo. Use enterprise. Use Uber rentals. Screw Zipcar into the abyss where it belongs.

    Broken windows

I was able to make reservations 3 times. The first time I got there the vehicle was late coming back. The driver before me pulled up, " saying sorry". Then the next time I reserved, I had to have that car back at 8 am and grab another. Unfortunately, the windows of two of the vehicles were busted out. So, they couldn't give me another vehicle. I was late to a meeting I had to attend. Then my last two reservations I waited for the vehicle to arrive. The young lady never showed up. She kept there vehicle. When I called after an hour of waiting, the young lady told the operator, "well someone did the same to me" I was so shocked I just gave up and probably won't use the service again. It's totally a hit or miss with the vehicles.

Wipers were bad, needed an oil change, tires low, and check engine light on with hard start.

I am a Zip Car member and I just want to know if the prices have increased because I am no longer seeing vehicles starting at 7.00 an hour and when I did call customer service, they were of no help?

I was just saying this yesterday. When I first started my membership, I could get a car for 24 hours for about $47. Now it's $47 for 3 hours smh and they have all these extra fees now. For 1 hour of a car at $12.25, my total was $23.08. After a good…

1.Can you use a MasterCard Debit card Or does it have to be a Major Credit Card? 2. Do you have to wait the first time to have the Zip Card mailed to you Or you can pick up when you get the first car? Thanks

You can use a debit card,it does not have to be a major credit card and yes, you do have to wait until the card is mailed to you.

Cost $490.23 for the car and $140 for insuring said car...after the fact....meaning I used the same card for the insurance, but not the same day. We got to the front desk, told them I'd paid already, and they told me they needed to hold $200 plus I added $71 fuel cost which is $271. I proceeded to give my wife's credit card for the hold and the fuel. When the receipt was presented to me, there was a charge of $985, needless to say after seeing the receipt, I had to change my drawers. Now, long story, short, we worried through our whole trip about that charge, because it was a new credit card and we had no idea that that was going to be the charge on the card. And I was imagining all sorts of difficulty in trying to get that money reversed. Returning the car was a piece of cake. All that was needed was to leave the keys on the dash and walk away, which is pretty cool in my book. But still, I wondered or I should say, my wife and I wondered what the disposition would be of the final bill, and we had to wait a bit to see what would happen. (Suggestion: this is a pay at the Desk rental car company, that is why there was the large charge on the second credit card, however, I'm glad I reserved it early, they seem to have had a plethora of cars there.) Will we didn't receive a final bill but a few days later my wife and I were elated when that $985 had been returned on her new credit card, so we did indeed only pay the $630 or $40 needed which I'd already paid. So, other than worrying about that major expense on one card we were relieved to see the money returned, back on the Second credit card!!! So I'd like to say kudos to Expedia and to Dollar Rent-A-Car for a somewhat nervous but happy Experience, even though it was slightly stressful. If we had had foreknowledge of that big expense being returned, we likely would've not stressed so much, that said I would recommend dollar, they treated us fairly, and pretty good!!!

**November 2025: Weekend After & Morning Visit**…read more I should have read these reviews before reserving the rental. Long story short, this was the worst car rental experience I have ever had. The rental was paid in full and the customer service rep insisted that that was an estimate. The car we were given was not what we signed up for and later we saw that we were charged extra for it. They also charged some additional things that we did not agree to. There were many phone calls made and I think to save yourself all the headaches it would be in your best interest to do business elsewhere. It's not worth it.

We flew into Boston on a Saturday morning and proceeded to wait in the Budget/Avis line (They know it's always busy, why do they insist on merging the two lines?) and it was pure chaos from the second we got in line. It took us roughly two hours to get to the counter which is always fun, but then when we got to the counter it was still somehow an awful experience. I've rented hundreds of cars in the last decade or so and the only company that truly drives me crazy is Budget/Avis. Answering basic questions and trying to pay still somehow managed to take upwards of 25 minutes and that was with us offering everything quickly. Overall? I sure hope I remember to choose any other car rental company the next time I fly into Boston. All the other lines were moving so much faster, nobody was loudly complaining about being stuck for two hours, and maybe some of the other companies can help people start a trip off on the right foot. Now as for the car itself, I'm satisfied with what we were given and it runs great, if only the rest of the experience was even half as good as that.

I walked around in circles because there were no clear directions that rerouted me to the next open Avis station. For someone from out of town not familiar with the layout and with no map of the parking lot, this was irritating. I finally checked in. The employees working the desk were great and friendly. She didn't seem to want to be helpful. It was a slow day. She was on the phone on a personal call and eating inside an SUV. I drove out of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride airport road as happy as can be. That airport had me going in circles. I was driving for maybe 7 minutes when I heard a sound. I looked down, and the low oil canister sign appeared. Two minutes later, the check engine light came on. Right after that, the low gas alert came on, omg. A scary experience for a woman driving alone in a state she has never been to. I called Avis and told them about the issue. They were apologetic and had good customer service. I told them I didn't want to go back to the airport, but I would exchange it at the nearest location. I did a prayer and drove to it with the little alarms going off. They gave me another vehicle. The process was smooth. It was just time-consuming, and I am here for cork and not fun. We stay here fairly regularly, particularly when we have an early flight and I don't feel like getting up at 3:00 AM, driving an hour into Boston, dealing with traffic, and then leaving my car in a garage for a couple of weeks. We also travel to Germany and elsewhere in Europe several times a year, and because those flights often get back into Boston around 6:00 PM, staying here for the night is usually far more appealing than making the drive home after a long international flight. The location is really the entire point, and Hilton has done this part exceptionally well. There are direct, covered walkways connecting the hotel with the airport, including Terminals A and E, so you can get from your room to the airport without dealing with Boston weather, traffic, or waiting around for a shuttle. When you're dragging luggage through an airport at an ungodly hour, that convenience becomes worth its weight in gold. Hilton also operates a 24-hour shuttle for the other terminals and nearby transportation. The staff have also consistently been excellent. Everyone we've dealt with at the front desk has been professional, friendly, informative, and genuinely helpful. Check-in and check-out have always been quick and painless, which is exactly what I want from an airport hotel. Nobody wants to stand around at 10:30 PM after an international flight filling out paperwork or arguing about some mysterious reservation problem. The rooms are comfortable and, perhaps most importantly, quiet. Considering you're literally staying at Logan Airport, the lack of airplane noise is somewhat remarkable. We've always slept well here, and the beds are genuinely comfortable. That's particularly important when the alarm is going off at some ridiculous hour because your flight leaves before most reasonable people have even considered getting out of bed. The rooms aren't necessarily the most modern you'll find in Boston, and the bathrooms are starting to show their age a bit, but everything is clean, functional, and comfortable. Recent guests have made similar observations about the slightly dated bathrooms and furnishings, so this isn't exactly breaking news. I've also found the pricing surprisingly reasonable for what you're getting. Airport hotels have a tendency to treat their location like a license to print money, so I was pleasantly surprised that the rates here have often been quite reasonable, particularly when you factor in what you're saving in time, aggravation, and transportation. You're essentially buying yourself a few extra hours of sleep and removing the entire pre-flight commute from the equation, which is a pretty good trade. This isn't the hotel I'd choose if I were coming to Boston for a romantic weekend and wanted to wander around Beacon Hill or Back Bay. That's not what it's for. It's an airport hotel, and it does that job exceptionally well. For early departures, late international arrivals, or those nights when the prospect of driving home after a long flight sounds absolutely miserable, the Hilton Logan is hard to beat. We've stayed here repeatedly and will absolutely be back. Five stars from me, largely because this hotel understands exactly what an airport hotel is supposed to do and does it very well.

Check-in took a long time. There was only one employee at the front desk working through a building line of incoming guests. Once past that, the valet was quick to grab our bags, get them to the room, and take care of the vehicle. If you don't have much luggage you can probably walk straight to the airport; it's not far. There's a good restaurant and bar inside and a decent spot for coffee & pastries or lite bites. When I returned the rental car, a gas station was only a couple of minutes away and the Boston rental car return center sat just past it. As soon as the car was turned in I called the Hilton front desk; they immediately sent a driver to pick me up and bring me back to the hotel. An Uber into the North End for dinner on Hanover Street ran about $23. I would definitely stay here again on a final night in Boston. The shuttle running every 15 minutes made the morning departure easy.
