My boyfriend and I just moved, and this is the third time we've used ZippGo. I can't say enough good things about this company! But here are my three favorite things: 1) I love how sturdy these boxes are. We have never had a glass, plate, or valuable break in the three times we've used this service. Now they even have plate and glass dividers you can insert into your boxes to make packing up your kitchen THAT much easier. 2) ZippGo provides plenty of other supplies for your move as well, making them a one stop shop! E.g. packing paper, bubble wrap, wardrobe boxes, etc. 3) Ash and his team are very responsive to inquiries. OH MY GEE YES. We moved somewhat abruptly mid-February and were a bit at a loss as to what to use. I found some boxes on the street, but was reluctant to buy more (and then have to store them, or, even worse, dump them? Hell no.). Enter ZippGo! My husband arranged it all--they dropped them off a few days before our move date (because we decided to move about a week before it happened), and we rented them for 3 weeks. It was worth the small extra cost. It was PERFECT. The crates are sturdy and very spacious. They stack easily. The movers LOVED them--way better than cardboard boxes that can tumble over or rip open. Plus, using ZippGo's crates forces you to unpack in a timely manner and get organized! One more bit of advice: it is much easier to move to a BIGGER place FROM a SMALLER place, and not the other way 'round. read more

It was a Thursday and I was moving Saturday morning. I was debating about trying to pick up some boxes for my recent move, but Uhaul had already closed by the time I left work. I was pretty stressed about moving, so I found Zippgo that night and ordered a delivery for the next morning. The delivery guy was prompt and called ahead. I was in a studio and thought I would only need 15 boxes, but I would really say go for the 25 boxes for 1-2 people. These boxes are so easy to pack, move, and stack, it saved so much time. The size and shape of the boxes is perfect for pretty much anything; you can't really overpack any box, but they will fit through a doorway easily. The pickup guy came this morning and likewise called ahead. I'm incredibly pleased with everything and while this service may cost more than buying some boxes, everything about Zippgo is so much better than boxes. Glad I found ZippGo on Yelp! I used them for my recent move from Contra Costa to the Peninsula, and I couldn't be happier! - Ordering via the website was super easy (though if you use the Yelp deal, you should call or email them to give them your Yelp code so they can enter it internally -- something about Yelp not providing them a list of the full codes) and they responded lightning fast to emailed inquiries. - Pickup/dropoff by their staff was friendly and efficient. I'd get a call the day before confirming the time. - I love that the labels they give you for the boxes are huge (no squinting at tiny labels) and peel off the boxes easily too. - RENT THE DOLLY: totally worth the $7. I stacked a bunch of boxes on there and pushed it around easily. Each box can hold a ton of heavy items that you definitely don't want to be lugging around one by one. - No fumbling for tape or trying to put together boxes. Drizzled a bit on our moving day and we didn't worry about soggy cardboard - Since you get a ton of boxes of the same size, our friends who helped us move were grateful for both the dolly, plus the easily stackable boxes which made loading the truck much easier. We used Zippgo to help move to a much larger home a mile away in February of 2011. Although we ended up using a few cardboard boxes during the move, I can honestly say that using the 100 Zippgo moving boxes made packing and unpacking so much easier and faster. There was no taping and cutting, no folding boxes, and no worries about overloading a flimsy cardboard box. The Zippgo boxes were so good in fact that we had no breakage during our move - our fine china survived without a single casualty! Plus, this was environmentally friendly since 100 cardboard boxes are not going to a landfill. I remember one time I was moving in college and and I packed a lot of random shit INTO my microwave cause I ran out of boxes. When I got to my destination everything in there arrived safe and I thought to myself, "Man, packing stuff into a microwave is super easy. I wish I had, like, 50 microwaves to pack all my shit into!" So yeah, ZippGo kinda stole my idea, but I'll let them slide since recycled plastic totes for moving is a really awesome idea (and are much lighter than your standard microwave). Anyway, I used ZippGo for my last move and not only does it save time packing (tons of time really) it also makes moving super quick AND, because of the handles, no one will carry any box upside down breaking your stuff. Even when you make some totes obnoxiously heavy with full volumes of books or your anvil collection they're still much easier to manage than a equal weighted cardboard box. Overall, if you hate the time it takes building boxes and/or the idea of killing trees so you can move your DVD library of 80's sitcoms to a new apartment then definitely consider ZippGo. read more

I was online last night researching boxes and while I was on the ZippGo site, a little chat screen popped up asking if I had any questions. My only question was the pricing. I really wanted to use ZippGo rather than buy a mountain load of cardboard boxes but somehow, I'd ended up with a really high quote. Turns out, the person on the other end of the chat was none other than the founder of ZippGo, Ash Sud. He totally helped me bring the cost down to where it was a no-brainer. MOVING IS THE BEST! ....said NOBODY EVER. Thanks to ZippGo, at least now the moving experience is significantly less terrible. Ash was super responsive to all my questions and was very flexible when I needed to change my order and my pickup time. He called to confirm the day before both delivery and pickup, and to give a narrower estimate of the delivery/pickup time. Eddie was on time for both the drop-off and pickup - all ZippGone in 60 Seconds. I will say that Ash's estimate about how many boxes you will need is pretty spot-on. I was dubious that I needed the 1 bedroom package for my studio (and I also live like a monk, so it seemed unnecessary), but if I hadn't had some leftover boxes from my last move, plus an exorbitant number of travel/duffel bags for my clothes, I definitely would have needed at least 25 boxes. Even with my own boxes, the Studio package was a tight fit. Great concept, and flawless execution. Do yourself a favor and Just ZippGo With It (I'll stop, I swear) for your next move. read more

This is absolutely the only way to go if you're moving. I found them on Yelp and they offered the best solution to traditional cardboard moving boxes. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE: It's easy to order online but when you have questions the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. They were also very accommodating by letting us change our delivery date and time with less than 24 hours notice. They were prompt on both delivery and pickup day and arrived at the earlier end of the time window. GREAT PRODUCT: The boxes are incredibly durable that seal with simple zip ties. The empty boxes stack neatly and compactly too. Unlike cardboard boxes you don't really have to worry about how much you put in them. You can load them as much as you want so long as the top closes flatly. Nothing I packed in the ZippGo boxes broke. The biggest benefit is not having to waste time and money taping up and tearing down cardboard boxes which just ends up in the dump and creating so much waste. SIDE NOTE: Unfortunately I had miscalculated the # of boxes and was short so I had to buy a few cardboard ones at the last minute. As Murphy's Law would have it, we had a huge rainstorm the whole week of our move and the cardboard boxes practically disintegrated leaving behind some damaged items, whereas the Zippgo boxes kept all the contents dry and in perfect condition. I was so thankful that most of our stuff were in the Zippgo containers. I recommend them to anyone considering a move. No headache, no mess. Stay away from cardboard!! I give ZippGo five stars for amazing customer service, and three for general experience. The owner, Ash, is incredibly attentive and accommodating, which is fantastic. Additionally, the boxes themselves are great in theory and (mostly) in practice. However, I ran into a couple of annoyances along the way. First the awesome: reusable boxes! Good for the environment, and no overflowing recycling bin post move-in. Also, NO TAPE. This in itself is amazing. I never realized how much I disliked packing tape until I didn't have to use it every time I started a new box. Also, the delivery guy was right on time for pickup and dropoff, and I got a reminder call the night before. The not-so-awesome: it's a personal pet peeve of mine to get pricing in stages. I want to know the total cost up front, so I can work it into my budget. I don't want to find out there's a $30 delivery fee on page two of the reservation form, after selecting the boxes. Annoying, though I appreciate that Ash was receptive to this critique. Additionally: this falls into the "Janna is kind of an idiot" category, but I'll gives you a heads up in case you're an idiot too (especially on moving day). Each box comes with one "zip tie" (i.e. plastic thingie to close the box). However, there are two holes on each box through which to thread a zip tie. The guy who showed me how to secure them didn't note that I should use only one, so I instinctively used two until I realized I was running out. This happened an hour before the movers arrived, and I wound up awkwardly wrapping plastic wrap around the remaining boxes. I'm not sure I would go with ZippGo again. There are definite benefits, as noted above, but honestly I had a more hassle-free experience buying non-reusable boxes from a similar type of business the last time I moved. Great customer service is commendable, but it's preferable to not have to use it in the first place. read more

We recently did a move with ZippGo and what can I say, everything went very smoothly. It was easy to schedule online and the customer service was very knowledgeable and friendly. They delivered our boxes a few minutes before the scheduled time which was unexpected for service companies nowadays. I chose to use ZippGo boxes because it's clean and simple and good for the environment. The idea is really simple actually and makes a lot of sense. The only think I recommend is to now put all your books in one box unless you have a good back, which I don't. So spread out your heavy items with the lighter items and moving these boxes makes is even more easier. The other thing is that it stacks up really well. We used our mini van and was able to stack 3 high and about 15 per load. I would recommend ZippGo to all my friends and family and will be using them for future moves. I'm going to recommend them to my tenants too. Keep up the good work guys! read more

The boyfriend and I had just signed a new lease, and having both been through a number of moves in the past few years, we were dreading the idea of having to get our hands on a bunch of cardboard boxes only to use them once and then recycle them. I was just about to order a set of moving boxes, when I saw a deal on HomeRun -- $49 for 25 boxes for 1 week. I called to schedule a delivery and they were very helpful in working around our old building's wacky elevator reservation schedule. They only deliver within the city until about 2:00p, so I booked the afternoon slot and the guy on the phone said he would make a note to deliver at 1:00p sharp. The driver showed up promptly at 1 and had our boxes upstairs about 5 minutes later. We received 25 of the large size boxes, a dolly, some labels, and ~50 zip ties. The boxes ended up being the perfect size, given that we had a LOT of stuff to move.Though we used a handful of cardboard boxes and a few of our own plastic boxes, we ended up filling ALL of the ZippGo boxes. The green boxes were sturdy and stackable and the handles made it easy to move boxes from one place to another. They're slightly heavier than you might imagine, so be careful not to pack too many heavy items in one box -- it's fairly easy to do so given the size of the boxes. I had a slight mishap with the pickup and left a voice mail message to see what happened. But Ash (the founder) responded later that night and offered to reschedule the pickup for another day at no charge! read more

Had a great experience with these boxes - no left over cardboard mess! (Although, I still have to find a place for the extra wrapping paper...) I rented for 1 week and was nervous about the short time frame, especially since I was going to be out of town for 3 of the days, but it was perfect! I even finished unpacking a little early and the team was flexible to move my box pickup up to a morning pickup vs. evening. I actually liked having the pressure to unpack quickly - no more boxes that never get unpacked and are hidden in storage. I used the curbside dropoff (hated the idea of spending $30 extra dollars just bc i was lazy). I was able to get the 25 boxes up 2 flights of stairs, it just took a couple of trips. Luckily, my building had a foyer so the boxes weren't literally left on the curb while I trekked up and down with 2-3 boxes at a time. I had vague memories of seeing reusable moving boxes so I'm glad I came to Yelp! to check out the reviews. I have moved several times in the past 5 years. Several times. I have scrounged boxes from jobs, purchased boxes I had to assemble, and spent a fortune on banker's boxes once because they are easier to carry. And as many have mentioned, TAPE. OH MY GOD THE RIPPING SOUND OF PACKING TAPE IS THE WORST! Never again! Say NO to cardboard! ZippGo is an awesome company, a great idea, and a time AND money saver. And yeah, that pesky environmental stuff is taken care of as well. REUSE! Both delivery and pick up were right on time. The boxes are super clean and easy to pack. ZERO breakage because they are so sturdy. Stackable, which was great when they got moved into my teeny studio. They were stacked 5 high and they were super solid. They are a little heavy, so be kind to your movers (or your friends,) and don't fill them to the rim with books. I did about half books or records and half clothing and that kept them lighter. We used ZippGo for our last move and it was fantastic. We got the 1 bedroom package to move from a 1 bedroom loft into another 1 bedroom loft and it *just* fit all our stuff (we consider ourselves relative minimalists, but we do have a lot of books). We had the boxes for 1 week, which went by fast but forced us to keep momentum and unpack in a timely manner. 1. Boxes are delivered to your place - No more chasing down cardboard boxes, contending with disgruntled Uhaul employees or assembling boxes! 2. You pack the sturdy plastic tubs with your stuff, label and zip-tie them closed with the materials provided by ZippGo,and hire a moving company to move you to the new place. 3. You unpack all the tubs. ZippGo picks up the empty tubs. No recycling/reselling/storing of cardboard boxes! I used ZippGo because, with an online deal, it was the same price as buying cardboard boxes, because I hate putting together cardboard boxes, and because it is far more sustainable. Without the deal, I would have been dissuaded by the steep price and by the fact that we were charged an annoying "stairs" fee even though our move-out location had elevator access and the move-in location was on the ground floor. read more

I thought these were pretty convenient as far as packing and unpacking are concerned. Didn't have any cardboard boxes to find or get rid of and I felt like my stuff was safe when moving. The movers were not really a fan apparently and griped about how the boxes were more difficult for them to move. Not entirely sure why but they were pretty annoyed when they saw these boxes..? I hate moving, like everyone. One of the most difficult parts is finding a way to pack up all your stuff. I used to keep tons of portable, foldable file boxes, but these last just a few moves (if that long), and requires SO MANY of them to get you from point A to point B. After a friend mentioned using ZippGo on a previous move, and was happy, I figured I'd give it a shot. The Yelp Deal at the time certainly helped as well :) The delivery/dropoff and eventual pickup was a breeze. Took maybe 10-15m of time TOTAL for both. Using them is even easier, and the movers love them because they're easily transportable, and you will love the movers loving them because of how rapidly they can be moved. The time saved from movers using these MORE than offset the cost of them. If, like me, when you move you like to do some 'pre-moving', these boxes work great too, as I can fit about 4-6 of them in my truck, and they just get unpacked and reused at the new place. The key is to make sure you get one of their dollys, which I made the mistake of skipping. Stacking up a bunch of them and just rolling them into the elevator at your old-and-then-new place will help keep you from throwing out your back in the process :) And hey, I haven't even talked about how much better these are for the environment! Anyway, it's a great product, with great service, and I've now used it for 2 moves. Not the cheapest thing, but the extra amount you spend over cardboard boxes will be saved by the lower amount of time movers spend transporting them. read more

I can't say enough good things about Zippgo. I purchased a daily deal for their boxes from Living Social and the level of service I got from Zippgo was far above what most places offer when you're using a groupon/living social deal. The guy who dropped off the boxes (in the rain) was very friendly and helpful. In addition, even though I waited too long to order my boxes (I'm moving in 5 days and I just called them yesterday), they were still able to get me the boxes with no problem early this morning. Our experience with ZippGo was nothing less than perfect! We rented 25 boxes for a week for a move from SF to Alameda. Ash was super responsive in answering questions and communicating the pick up/drop off times. He even asked if we wanted the boxes one day early at no extra cost since they were planning to be in our neighborhood anyway! That was awesome. I also appreciated the communication by text message. I know everyone has their preferences, but it was so easy for me to iron out the logistics without having to step away from what I was doing to take a phone call. I wish more businesses would move to text message communication! Aside from the stellar customer service, the boxes were clean and easy to use. And easy on my conscience since I can't stand the thought of creating more waste with disposable cardboard boxes. I can't believe I've ever moved without these things. The movers appreciated them as well since they were easy to stack and load into the truck. This company is great!! We had our garage redone and it had to be completely emptied. Zippgo delivered the requested bins on time. When I needed to extend the rental time, they had no problem. Great way to move. They deliver the boxes to your doorstep and pick them up at your new location, which for us was in San Francisco and Danville. They are a lot easier to carry than normal boxes and they even provide a dolly. We used every box in a 2 bedroom set for our one bedroom, just something to keep in mind. For the convenience we also had the boxes for 2 weeks which was great. Overall great service and great moving solution! read more

I'm literally in the process of moving things into truck as I write this and I had to stop to review ZippGo and tell you how AMAZING these boxes are. They are worth their weight in gold. They make moving so much easier: 1. The boxes are sturdy so you don't have to worry about them breaking under heavy items. 2. We recently moved and loved the services that ZippGo provided. These guys bring a very cool and green concept to moving and made our moving process much smoother. We were able to move our 2bd 2ba SF condo with the box amount that they recommended. Packing was super easy and did not require us to build and tape boxes. Not to mention our belongings remained even more secure in these boxes and nothing was damaged during our move. This was the absolute best way to move. All the boxes arrived right on time, they were easy to carry and stack. Best of all, not of my stuff got damaged as i stacked box after box after box. Everybody was super pleasant at the company and there service was impeccable. I would highly recommend this is a great way to move across town. In the end, it sure felt cheaper than getting boxes. I am sure I could bought cheap boxes or scoured craigslist, but just the benefit of not having to do all that, have the boxes delivered with zip ties, dolly, and packing material, just made cost difference totally negligible. Loved ZippGo! The recycled boxes worked perfectly. The trick to the clothes hanging box is to place your heaviest books at the bottom of the box to keep its shape.
