Zippy's is like the Hawaiian McDonald's. It seems you can't drive more than 5 miles and you'll run into one. Some may have a sit-down dining area...some may have the bakery on the premises...but all will have the take out area. This has always been my 1st stop after arriving on Oahu. There was no reason to break tradition this time around. What I had thought was the Zip Pac that I adored, was actually the Surf Pac...2 pieces of Fried Chicken, a couple of pieces of teriyaki beef, and a piece of spam, over rice. It was around lunch time. My friend and I were deciding what shall we try this time. I came up with the idea of trying a local restaurant that my other friend from Guam told me to try, Zippy's. We entered the door to Zippy's and I saw two sides, one for getting your food and eating at any table that is available and the other one where you have a waiter and they take your order from there. I was dumbfounded when I saw a bakery right next to the cashier for Zippy's. I never saw that in my life! Now it was time to order. I was thinking of the restaurants favorite, the chili and rice. We placed our order and I got to tell you, the waiting time is long! We waited for a good ten-fifteen minutes for our order. And finally they finished and it was time to eat. I'm not really a chili fan but once I put a spoonful of their chili, I fell in love! It has a unique taste that I really can't describe. The only adjective I could tell you about the chili is extraordinary! It is especially good with rice. They have a variety of foods that you could select like chicken, fish, and spaghetti but I recommend the chili. Do you consider coming back? Defiantly yes! But I would suggest placing an order for pick up so you won't have to wait long in the lines or for your food. Very disappointed! No one acknowledges you right away. Take their sweet time getting the menu together. Very slow service. It took ten minutes for the waitress to come and bring us our water, took our order. It's twenty minutes went by and we're still waiting for our food! This was my first time at zippy's so I didn't really know what to expect. The service was good and the female taking my order was patient with us while we fumbled around figuring out what we wanted. I'm going three stars purely because my food was average. The fried chicken was mediocre, and I didn't care much for the chili cheese fries. My fiancé enjoyed the burger she had. I'm definitely a regular at this Zippy's. My favorite picks are the Chicken Katsu, Korean Chicken and Garlic Miso Chicken. I love the drive thru, the timing of getting the meal and the service. The restaurant is clean and they've never messed up on my meals when I preorder for pick up at the drive thru. This location is nice. The only drawback I have is that the fried chicken seemed to be dry and overcooked compared to the Kapolei location.

Don't bother going into the diner side, most of the women have attitudes and are rude before you even get a chance to sit down. A woman named Jovalyn stood at the desk and no one else was there (this is 12:00am) and instead of asking how many and trying to get us seated she gave us a dirty look and then a sarcastic smile. We then asked if we needed to sign in and she scoffed and said yeah and continued her conversation with her coworker. This isnt the first time someone has had attitude while I ate here though, Ive lived in Ewa Beach for 14 years now and it still never fails to amaze me how junk the customer service is. My advice is save yourself the attitude and avoid having to tip someone you dont want as your waitress by just eating on the take out side. read more

I usually only do dine-in when I'm in the area, but this time I was just in a rush to get to town and did take-out instead. Ordered Large Chili, 2 Zip Pacs, and 2 Fried Noodles. Waited about 10 mins then saw my order piling in the window. About 25 mins passed and I didn't know what was taking so long and I wasn't informed that there was a long wait for anything I ordered, but my grandparents were with me and rushing. Apparently, the chicken for the zip pacs weren't ready and that's what I was waiting for. I gave up after another 10 mins and told them I would take the Zip pac with something else instead of the chicken and they gave extra mahi mahi. Tbf: I wasn't too upset about waiting so long, but when I SAW my order was ready, the counter girl gave it to another person... when I said: "I'm sorry, but did you just give my order away?" Went there for dinner at 8:45pm, got seated by the hostess. Was told that the server will be with us shortly. Did not get acknowledged till 5 minutes after being seated, another 5 minutes and we finally get our water. Another 5 minutes and the waiter finally takes our order. 15 freakin minutes!! Ordered the zip min and wife orders the spaghetti/chicken combo and a small portion chef salad to share amongst 2 of us. Food comes quickly, well not really, another 5 minutes. The broth in my zip min tasted so bland and had a weird medicinal taste (wtf). The chef salad was the only decent dish we had, hence the 1 star rating. *thumbs down* for the Zippys. read more

Slowest/worst service experience ever. Ordered a large chili with rice, sat down for 20 minutes, wondering where it was and i hear numbers after mine being called. I ask the lady if she called my number, she goes and looks back at the receipts and then hands me my chili. There was maybe 5 other customers in the room and no one in the drive through. Telephone ordered my food when I left town (about half an hour drive) and still waited another half an hour for my food. Everyone else who walked in and ordered got their food before I did! I patiently waited until the girl that rang me up when I came in noticed I was still waiting. THEN they expedited my food to come out and it took another 10 minutes. It makes me recollect on all the other chilies I've had and how bitter or sour they tasted. Zippys chili has a wonderful smooth creamy wonderful texture. Yes I know I said wonderful twice! I really liked the person I saw when I went. I went at around like 2am on a Saturday night a while back and had a long night before stopping by. Me and my girls were super hungry and we wanted Korean chicken. She was chill and really nice even though she had so many people to take orders from and give out. Huge menu, which sometimes can be more of a curse than a blessing, was surprisingly very well organized and easy on the eyes. I ordered the chili cheese fries and my son the chicken nuggets kids meal(which were just frozen tyson chicken nuggets) The hubby ordered steak and mash potatoes. His steak was very fatty! My chili cheese fries how ever, were quite good! I just think it is a little over priced for how much you actually get. It was middle of the day on a Tuesday and they only had one worker serving a couple of tables and it took us almost 10 minutes for us to be seated. Once seated, however, our waitress was very nice and was trying hard for being the only server. I don't know if I would go to ever sit down there again, but I do know I will be back and have been back several times to pick up a pie or pastry! Their deserts are very good and well made!
