Respectfully speaking, Zippy's was fine. Our server was nice. The restaurant was clean. Our order was ready maybe 10 minutes after placing it. So, service was quick. The food was mostly hot. If it wasn't it was warm. I understand Zippy's has been around for 60 years and is beloved by locals but I personally didn't understand the hype. It's one of those places you have to grow up eating which gives that nostalgia that adds to the taste and the experience. The food was hot the service was nice but the food was bland, disappointing and forgettable & that's truly unfortunate. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to anyone. FPO and I had just flown in from the Big Island (Hawaii Island). It was late for us (around 9:00 pm). The fam asked if we were hungry. Next stop Zippy's. After hearing about their experiences at this Zippy's (not great) I was a little surprised that they picked it. I guess the service is slow and food expensive. I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, Zippy's has gotten greedy in last several years but everyone's prices are crazy, insane, high these days. It was busy Saturday night and the place was pretty full. This was my first meal on the island after landing. I feel like the rating it has on here is NOT accurate at all. I didn't know what to expect coming in, but I had only heard great things! Popped into Zippy's Kapolei after Physical Therapy this morning. We were greeted right away. We sat in the dining area. The waitress' name was Sandra and she asked what would we want to drink. My son and I both got iced water for the time being. We looked over the menu and my son got the Zippy's omelette with fried rice and a side of hash browns. The omelette was loaded with Portuguese sausage, spam, veggies and cheese. I had the veggie omelette with white rice and a side of hash browns. We then ordered 2 Orange Bang juice. Was ono! Dining area was clean and orderly. Bathroom as immaculate as well! The waitress was very polite and courteous. We hardly get to eat here but when we do, it's an amazing experience. Zippy's is our go to when we cannot decide on where to eat or if my husband is craving chili burrito. We have not been to thr Kapolei location in a while but since we were in the area we decided to go there. It looks almost outdated in a sense like no upkeep has been done. When we were brought to our table there were crumbs all on the booth seats, both sides, and the table was sticky. We asked the hostess if we could have something to wipe it before she left us, but was gracious enough to do it for us. However, we had to now sit on a seat that was not completely dry. As I made my way into the booth I noticed that I was sitting next a mess that looked like it had been there for some time. This is a review from a first timer. I've heard many good things about this local chain, and I was looking forward to trying a few items, especially the famous chili. Some of my family members have been to Zippy's before, and they enjoy coming here when on vacation. We had a big family lunch party, so we ordered a bunch of items. I got to try the Chili Moco, a bowl of chili (with beans), and my main order was the Saimin. After trying the chili with both beans and no beans, I prefer the no-bean chili. The saimin was delicious, but average. If you're in the mood for soup or noodles, this would satisfy. The lilikoi drink was also refreshing and sweet. For dessert, we shared two popular items, the Haupia Cake and Chocolate Pudding. Both were very satisfying and ended the meal perfectly. The Haupia cake was not overly sweet, and it was moist and light. The staff seemed overwhelmed, but they still got most of our orders out quickly and maintained a friendly and attentive vibe throughout the meal. There's a quick-service counter for takeout and a spacious dine-in area to enjoy your meal inside. Overall. I definitely like this location but it can be busy on the weekends. Service was good here. Everything I ordered was delicious and flavorful. My favorite is the breakfast here from strawberry waffles to pancakes. So good. Wait time wasn't too bad. It's between 10 to a 15 minute wait to be seated. Walked in close to 8pm it was a little busy most of the tables were full and I thought I would be okay to take my party of 3 we placed our name on the digital waitlist. All the parties in front of were taken in order so we thought it would be okay. While we were waiting the child in our group was getting restless and we were next on the list to be called. While I was waiting for my name to be called a party of 4 people was called to be seated before us. I'm just wondering most of the tables are made for parties of 4 so how can you take a party of 4 people before the party of 3? Am I missing something? Since they don't go in order of the waitlist why do you have a digital waitlist? Also why do you let people see when they are next to be seated if you don't go in order? We waited for five more minutes to see if it was because they were cleaning the table; no they were not setting up our table and most of the tables were clear of guests or being cleaned. I order online (Uber Eats) almost daily and each time i order from Zippy's Kapolei it never fails that something is forgotten or missed. The add-ons to sandwiches (or even deletions) or daily plates or even wrong drinks. Am i assuming too much? Shouldn't this be basic basic lessons? Today topped it - it was the straw that broke the camel's back! :( i ordered chili and rice - guess what, NO RICE!!! I also order 1 dozen jin dui - guess what, NO JIN DUI!!! I get it, inflation. ZIPPY'S BROKE DA MOUTH! I'm so glad I didn't listen to the reviews and went to Zippys for the first time today. First, the service was outstanding and the staff was so nice and friendly. Second, the food came out fast, hot and fresh and looked even better than the pictures in the menu. And lastly everything was delicious and by getting the Zip Pac I was able to try some of everything especially the Mac Salad and Chili. I honestly don't give out 5 Stars often but with the price point, quality and excellent service Zippys is a must go when in Kapolei! However it is very interesting that the prices are different when you're ordering it for takeout verses when you dine in it's almost 3 to 5 dollars more for each item if you dine in. Service at this location has gone down hill. We were seated and we place out drink order. Ten minutes later one diet and two Ice teas arrived. Fifteen minutes after our drinks came the server came to take our food order. I wanted to inform them that they may want to take it off the shelf as it may have been sitting too long. I was on hold for a bit, then finally got to speak to someone I asked to speak to the manager; they wanted to know "why?" Upon explaining the situation, I was placed on hold again. I ordered two zip pacs and both the chickens were burned black and the hoki and spams were not cooked. I literally had to put them in my air fryer to cook them. I tried initially ordering on app it kicked me off twice saying something went wrong. I called three times got sent straight to holding no human contact. Happy National Chili Day! I'm more of a no bean kinda gal which makes it like a bougie bolognese lol but celebrating this day Zippy's offers specials on their famous chili and we're the lucky ones to nab this deal. It's $4.50 for a 10oz bag of original or no bean that comes cold/frozen only which I did online for an efficient and easy pickup and will notify you if it's ready earlier than time promised. What I also noticed is that they also have regular chili with rice for $5.95 and what a dinner deal! My first time n it was horrible. I ordered a cheeseburger with tomato onion and lettuce n macaroni salad my daughter ordered the chicken beans n rice plate n 2 glasses of ice water. We got our order after 15 minutes with no one really in the place n my cheeseburger was Luke warm at best, cheese unmelted like it was an afterthought and the mustard sauce was so bad I tried scraping it off! My daughters chicken was dried out pieces and the macaroni salad was warm lastly it was an expensive lunch for 2 people and still had to get up to get water from an employee who acted like it was a chore to stop visiting with her coworkers n cooks to get our water. I hope other people will not have our experience because I could have eaten at a 5 star restaurant n actually got to eat my food instead of throwing most of it away.
