Do not go here! Armin at Zips replaced the windshield on my Ford Econoline van for $275. Great price, right? Wrong! We noticed the van was leaking and water was coming in after the very next rainstorm. I called and tried to give them an opportunity to make it right. My father-in-law, who owns the van, took it into the shop and he got into an argument with Armin when he said the windshield wasn't replaced there and they refused to fix the leak. After producting sending them a copy of the invoice, they made an excuse that the vehicle's alignment was off and that the pinchweld was rusted. Well, if that was the case then why didn't they say something about that when they did the replacement and took my money? After the experience with my father-in-law, I tried multiple times trying to schedule an appointment for them to fix. They kept telling me the van had alignment and rust problems but they would take a look at it. However, after making several attempts at setting up appointments, Armin rescheduled three times. This is after I already took off work and made plans to bring the van in. Then he accuses me of threatening him for writing a negative review. I didn't threaten him. I'm surprised to see so many mixed reviews with Zips. I fortunately had a very good experience. My windshield unfortunately had a pretty big crack after driving on 495 and having an 18-wheeler drive past me with small pebbles flying in the air. My insurance company requires a deductible of $500. I decided to shop around the area first to see if I could find something cheaper. I reached out on yelp and spoke with Abdul. He was wonderful. Windshield replacement experience. We called to schedule, Armon bullied into scheduling on a morning which we had to leave for work at 12. Was told we would be the first one in the 9 to 12 block. He calls with an 1130 arrival time. Aggressively rescheduled to do it while my wife was at work. Showed up, tried to move the car to another lot without saying anything to my wife. She happened to come outside for a break to stop this. Replaced windshield, left 2 dents and a scratch on our hood. When we contacted them about it Armon lost his mind over the phone. Claimed that they have before pictures, I asked for them. 3 days later, we received a very hard to understand text that the gist was "I talked to my tech, we're right. COMPLETELY AMAZING. I have used them 2 more times after my first windsheild replacement and I will never ever ever go anywhere else. The quality of work over here is very good. They do such a good job that you cannot even tell that your window has been replaced. I purchased another used car that had its windsheild replaced by someone else and you can tell from the edges and the way it was installed it was done poorly. My most recent encounter with them was for my Nissan NV 3500. It is a relatively newer vehicle and every other place quoted me $200 more to replace the windshield. It didnt have tags so I couldnt bring it in to the shop. Since it was a vehicle purchased at an auction which needed to pass two inspections (State trooper, and Maryland inspection) I couldn't get tags for it to bring it to the shop so the owner made special arrangements to have the window changed at my house where the car was parked. Following that, it passed State trooper inspection with flying colors and they are picky about windsheilds. Not only that but the job was done so professionally that it looks like it has never been replaced. Who cares about the price... Even though it is the best around. These guys could start charging more tomorrow and I would still come here. read more

UPDATE: Everything I described below is EXACTLY as it happened. Sad to see the owner post a response that is just complete fiction (i.e., lies) rather than simply just own up to his mistake and confusion. I would have gladly waited another few minutes, if someone had actually been on their way. But, there was not -- because the owner had the wrong day written down for the appointment, if he had anything written down at all. ************************** Last week, spoke with the guy on the phone and made an appointment for them to be at my house today between 12 pm and 2 pm. When I was on the phone with the guy, I did all I could to be sure the guy got the day right, because I couldn't afford a scheduling screw-up. During the call, I said "I'd like to make an appointment for TUESDAY." And, "So, we're all set for TUESDAY, between 12 pm and 2 pm." Then, at the end of the call "Thank you, see you on TUESDAY between 12 pm and 2 pm." Here it is on Tuesday at 2:05 pm. No one came. I just called. Sure enough, the same guy says "I wrote the appointment down for Wednesday." Then, he asked me several times what the appointment was for. "Replace or repair?" This, after we had had a detailed conversation when I made the appointment about replacing a windshield on one vehicle (which I gave him the year, make and model of) and repairing the windshield on another. It was like we never had that conversation. Anyhow, what a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT, especially after my spouse and I literally arranged our work week so one of us would be at home for the appointment. Just after the March snowstorm, I was driving into work and a huge chunk of ice flew off of another car (idiot) and cracked my windshield. I'm surprised the damage wasn't worse. The crack was big enough (about 2 feet long) that the entire windshield needed obvious replacement. I called Zips Auto Glass because they were the highest rated establishment nearby to my office and home. I had heard some bad stories about national companies like Safelite so I shot Zips an email for a quote. Armin called me back within about 5 minutes - so quick that I even missed the call! He was absolutely ready to send somebody out to my workplace to do the work while I was at the office. However, after discussing with him over the phone, I decided to play it safe and have it done at their shop. I arrived for my appointment and Armin told me to come back just before closing (they close at 5pm). I burned some time around Rockville but ran out of things to do and returned early around 4:15. My car was done and ready to go! The price was well over $100 cheaper than the national companies (AND I have an electronic mirror). Zips/Armin also was able to transfer window stickers to the new windshield. I also learned that my boss had used them before as well...Zips Auto Glass gets consistently good reviews for a reason. Just today I peeled the tape away and any noise from the windshield has vanished. I am a VERY happy customer. I'll have to see for any leaks at the next rain...but I don't anticipate any problems at all. Armin also made sure to say if I had any questions/concerns to not hesitate to contact him. This is a mean and nasty place run by a guy who has some anger issues to work out, clearly. So Zips replaced my windshield. All was fine. Until I realized that after they replaced it, my bluetooth was no longer working in the car (I could hear people on the phone but they couldn't hear me). I went to Best Buy to ask them if they could tell me why (they installed the bluetooth originally) and they quickly found that the microphone wire had been severed, obviously in the process of the windshield being replaced, since the bluetooth had been working right before the windshield was replaced and not right after. So I went into the office and showed the guy the severed microphone wire. What I wanted was for him to say "oh I'm sorry, what can we do to fix it?" Instead, what I got, was a tirade from him, accusing me of giving him attitude (nice attitude to have with customers, assuming we're all "giving attitude" when we're disappointed or upset by service) and then he said, "How do I even know it was my technician who cut the wire?" He was very condescending, and it was as though I had done something horrible to him by coming in there to express disappointment and confusion. I wanted to understand why/how the technician had cut the wire in the process of replacing the windshield but in the end I gave up trying to get an explanation because I couldn't deal with talking to such a mean and angry guy. BE CAREFUL with this place; they'll act all nice until you express anything they don't want to hear. read more

I called to make an appointment with Arman who was very polite. I decided on a time the next day. Arman also said he would include free windshield wipers. The next day rolled around and I was waiting for them to call me. I didn't realize that it was a timeframe he had given me, not a particular time slot. I called them and Arman politely clarified my appointment. The guy who came out to fix the windshield was polite and worked quickly (was done in 30 minutes). I asked a lot of questions but felt like he didn't necessarily know the answer (like what constitutes as "high speeds" or if the rain would affect the adhesive). Just FYI, you'll have to let your car sit at least an hour afterwards before driving and you can't drive "high speeds" for 24 hours (which would've been good to know ahead of time as I have to drive on the beltway for work). They put tape on the top of your windshield that can be removed 24 hours later. He did put the stickers back on new windshield which I appreciated. There was still obvious glass debris in my car/ on my seats along with some black material (rubber or plastic?) Which was annoying as I had to vacuum that out. I didn't end up getting my free wipers but I didn't realize that until after the fact when he left. All in all, they were polite, quick, reasonably priced, and an Auto Glass Safety Council member which was the main reason I went with them. I can honestly say that this place is awesome! I called to get a quote and I am not sure who I spoke with but they were extremely helpful in quoting me a price as well as setting up a time for me to bring in my car to have my windshield replaced. Okay, when you're in a desperate situation and someone helps you out, you may have a tendency to become a little hyperbolic. Phrases like "came to my rescue" come to mind. Also, "desperate situation." But I'm 37 weeks pregnant and haven't gotten "hormonal" yet, so the fact that my car was broken-into last night in Manhattan, window busted and stuff stolen-- yeah, I think that entitles me to a little hyperbole. THESE PEOPLE ARE THE BEST. THE BEST, JERRY! THE BEST! Here's the timeline: Sunday night, 7 pm: Wedge-shaped back-side window broken, stuff stolen from my car in NYC. 2 am: Got home to MoCo, after filing police report, taping up window, driving 4 hours in the snow DID I MENTION I AM 8.5 MONTHS PREGNANT BECAUSE THAT'S RELEVANT FOR SOME REASON 8 am: Zips opens, I get an estimate over the phone and am promised that someone will be at my house (Yay!) before noon. 10:30 am: Friendly Zips guy shows up. 11 am: Brand new window perfect, broken glass all vacuumed up, total cost: $135. Do NOT GO to this place. I had a small rock chip on my windshield. They didnt know what they were doing and made it worse. The crack on my windshield went from less than the size of a Nickel to the size of a dollar bill across my windshield. When I asked why and how I was not informed. The manager whose name is Armin, said he cannot fix cheap repairs very well and said its the fault in my car and that I should change the entire windshield of my car through him for $1100. He was a total jerk and kept blaming me that it's my fault that I tried fixing the small ding in the windshield with cheap repairs instead of changing the entire windshield for $1100. This was my second choice for getting my windshield crack fixed, and MAN am I glad that the first place bagged on me!!! I had set up an appointment on line with Safelite in Bethesda. When I arrived at 4 p.m. (my appointment time) the Safelite shop was shut tight (even though the hours on the window said it was open until 5 p.m.). When I called the 800 number, the operator said they must have closed early thinking they had no further appointments. I hung up the phone quickly and checked Yelp. Found Zips, and Mike answered. He was friendly and said he could take me right away, and quoted me a price a whopping $50 CHEAPER than Safelite! I headed straight there. When I arrived, they looked at the main chip, and one more that I wasn't sure about correcting, and suggested that I only have the one chip corrected because the second chip was minuscule. I appreciated that they weren't trying to upcharge me but just do what needed to be done properly. The chip was corrected in just a few minutes, and though it's not a completely transparent correction (hard to control in many cases), it's not growing anymore, and I'm completely satisfied. The owner even offered a $10 coupon just because, so instead of $85, it was $75! I was floored! He really didn't have to do that. SOOOO, as I was in the waiting area -- pretty attractive and relatively clean for a car repair waiting room -- I noticed a sign about car mirror replacement. I have had a mirror that was bad since the big freezing snowstorms in Feb. 2015, and haven't replaced the driver's side mirror because my regular car repair place wanted to charge me about $500 to replace the whole mechanism. Forget that crap! I asked Mike how much the mirror replacement would cost. When he said $85, I was a little skeptical (how can something be so cheap here that is so expensive at my other repair shop?) but they'd done a good job on my car already, and didn't give me the creeps, so I figured why not? He immediately ordered the part the next day, and took the initiative to set up an appointment with me for the repair. When I arrived the following morning, Mike's repair pro laughed at me when he saw me bringing bags of work in with me (I didn't know how long it would take so I wanted to be prepared to pass the time wisely). In about 10 minutes, he was back with my car, and a new mirror, working perfectly, and I hadn't even had time to crack open my computer! NO WONDER he joshed me about bringing in my work! :) I wouldn't hesitate to use these guys. Not one shred. For the life of me I can't imagine how anyone wouldn't have a great experience here for both cost and quality of work. It makes me think the 1-star folks are competitors, or fake... This place is HORRIBLE and the owner is a JERK. I asked for a window repair, they sent someone out to fix it. The guy spent THREE HOURS on my 1 window repair AND didn't even complete the job. He left without saying a word to me and his manager called to say they needed the car to come into the shop because they needed a "special tool." If they needed a special tool, why did it take them 3 HOURS of banging around on my car to figure that out?! Not only that, but they ripped off part of the door that now is connected with tape (and they are denying any sort of damage). I took my car to get fixed at Precision Auto in Columbia and they fixed the window in 30 MINUTES, but informed me that the window regulator was completely bent (which I saw with my own eyes). Clearly, if the regulator had been bent the previous day, the guy from Zips working on my car would've said something, which leads me to believe that Zips fucked up the regulator (it wasn't a "tool" issue), and left without saying anything to me. The guy at Zips clearly did not know what he was doing with my car. INEXPERIENCED and LIARS. I called Zips to tell them what happened and the owner denied having ever touched the car, though they were in my driveway for 3 hours?? How does that make sense? He wouldn't let me say a word on the phone, yelled at me the entire time, and then hung up on me. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! THEY WILL SCREW UP YOUR CAR AND DENY IT. read more

On a sunday evening, I have noticed that my car's windshield had a long mysterious crack which looked dangerous. I panicked and wanted to get it repaired immediately. At about 10 pm on the same day, I googled the glass repair places nearby and found Zips Auto Glass. I have sent them an email asking for an estimate hoping to get a reply the next morning. To my surprise, somebody responded within a few minutes with an estimate and an available appointment for the next day. I gave them my work address and they showed up and replaced the windshield promptly. The guy who came for service was very friendly and kept me informed the whole time. I had mixed feelings about Zips initially but I will not one person ruin the service I received overall. My windshield was cracked all the way up and did not pass inspection. I called around and also saw a groupon for zips and because of the reasonable price and convenience I choose them. So last Friday Tim came and met me to replace the windshield and he broke the side molding of the windshield. He told me he would put in for a replacement Monday. His professionalism lacked because he was pressuring me to go to dinner with him and even sent me texts which I felt was awkward. Anyway on my way to work riding down the highway the moldings that Tim taped up began to crumble and fly off as I was driving. I pulled over and was stopped by state troopers becasue of the hazard it was causing. I called Tim and he told me that he was going to look around at junkyards for replacement moldings. I immediately felt a type of way because I did not want junkyard replacements and I was under the impression that he was ordering parts Monday. So I called and spoke with Mike. Mike was extremely professional and assured me that they ordered parts and would be replacing the moldings as soon as possible. Thankfully a different technician by the name of Oliver came who was very courteous, quick and professional came and fixed my windshield. He simply did his job, made sure everything was good and told me to contact him if I needed anything else. So overall the molding issue and first technician weren't exactly to my satisfaction, but Mike's willingness to work and fix the situation and the service i received from the next tech made it better. read more

I got two quotes to replace my windshield, one from Safelite, one from Zips Autoglass. Zips was about $100 less. I made an appointment with Mike on Friday afternoon for Saturday morning. I arrived as scheduled and Mike was ready for me when I got there and greeted me by name (he recognized the car). He offered to replace some additional trim pieces not included in the quote and explained why he recommended them. I agreed, and even with that addition, the total was still less than Safelite by about $50. Mike told me it would take about two hours, and it was done in less than an hour and a half. When I picked up the car he walked outside and showed me what they had done, gave me some instructions (no car wash, when to remove the tape...), and gave me a spray bottle of window cleaner too. Overall I'm very happy with the price and service, and the new windshield looks good and so far seems to have been done correctly. read more

Arman quoted me $235 for the glass, and warned me there would be another $40 if an attachment inside the door was broken. I needed get to office on time, so I left my car there and picked it up the next morning. I was lucky, that attachment was ok. I was charged $235, tax included. A few other glass shops quoted somewhere around 290. Arman and his worker were nice and friendly. Overall, I'm satisfied with their services and would recommend this place. read more

I was forced by the state inspection to replace my perfectly fine windshield because there was a crack (blocking my view of the hood...) and they quoted me $100 cheaper than elsewhere! The job was done super quick too! Bad luck loves company, we shattered my wife's rear window on a camping trip the next week. I walked in there to replace it and the cracked the windshield at the same time while I'm there and I got a good price, the guy ordered the glasses presto and it was ready to go by the end of the day. I used Yelp to decide who to use to replace my cracked windshield. I was originally happy with the work until I got my car up to 40 mph and realized air was pushing underneath my windshield and making a ton of noise while driving. I called and they sent out the same repair man. He said the fix would take 10 minutes... it took an hour. It was still not perfect, but better so I decided to let it go. Then I tried to use my windshield wipers... they did not work. So now I am waiting to have a repair man show up again to fix this issue.
