Well my review is not going to be any better than any previous negative ones. But before I get started, remember the old saying , "you get what you pay for" and that is exactly what I got, $2 worth of service. I am an Ebay seller, but I like to make sure my items are clean before I sell them. So I decided to try something new and go to ZIPS, first time. I took eight items to Zips and I knew one item might be questionable. It was a black suite jacket from "The Limited" that had a small 1/4" faux leather trim. So when I picked it up, while in the store, I said lets look at how this jacket turned out and guess what - they had literally melted the faux leather trim, it was almost totally gone!!! I ask the counter person, what kind of compensation can I get for this jacket that can't be worn by anyone, including me. He said, they are not responsible for items that have polyurethane on them and I should take it back to where I bought it, even though ZIPS was the one who damaged it. And the counter person checked the tag in the jacket and it did say "dry clean only." But they don't even inspect the items when you dropped them off like the more expensive cleaners. Who will tell you if they think they can't or shouldn't try to clean an item. But that is not all. I had two pair of expensive dress slacks that were lined and they looked great before I took them in. But when I got them back, they had pressed them so hard that you could see the imprint of the lining seams through the fabric of the pants. Which we all know will not just disappear and the pants now look shiny and not as great as they did before. Ok, remember that old saying, " you get what you paid for", well I will think next time about what ZIPS can clean before I bring anything to them. Maybe they are best cleaning cotton laundry items, you would think they couldn't mess up those, right? Well while I was there a customer was bringing back three cotton dress shirts and complaining that several buttons had been melted and where cracking.....buyer beware! read more

Dropped of a pair of pants to get tailored and cleaned. Came to pick it up on the day they said it would be ready. Told me to come back later.I came back at the end of the day and they tell me they lost the ticket and proceed to pull my pants out in a wrinkled ball from under a stack of dirty clothes. I immediately asked for my money back. I will never come back. read more

Disappointed. Got a new shirt and wanted it laundered to get the wrinkles (from box) out. It comes back from ZIP's far more wrinkled and creased and pretty much unwearable (until I bring it somewhere else, I hope..). Two polo shirts I brought in are now permanently stained, and I have no idea how that happened, because the stains certainly weren't there beforehand. Another time, a shirt I had had a button fall off, and I brought it back to fix and then the shirt was returned to me still without the button. The people working here are friendly, and the cleaning is quick, but the quality of the cleaning is sub-par, to say the least. Disappointed that a trip to the cleaners has effectively ruined two shirts and made another unwearable until I get it cleaned (somewhere else, presumably). read more

I think they do a terrible job of dry cleaning !!! I took some dress shirts there to have them cleaned and pressed. Their "cleaning" couldn't even remove a small soda stain in the front of a shirt. You could have spot cleaned it with a paper towel and a bit of cold water, but they couldn't remove something so trivial. It looks to me that all they did was press my shirts and charge me, with no cleaning whatsoever. Save yourself some grief and go elsewhere! read more

They damaged my comforter and refused to do anything about it. I brought my Ralph Lauren Comforter in to be dry cleaned as I was having guests visit me for a week. I went to pick it up on 7/16. When they located the comforter and my other clothing items, I noticed that the comforter was not neatly folded. It was balled up and shoved into the bag. I opened it and asked why it was all wrinkled and shoved in the bag? As I opened it I realized the filling inside the comforter was hard and no longer properly filling the comforter, and the color of the comforter was faded. I asked for the manager. She told me they would take it back to fix it. I told her I did not see how it could be fixed, but I did not want to argue. She told me they would call me when it was ready for pickup. I was upset as my guests were arriving that evening. I had to go purchase another comforter. I was hopeful, but after a week and no one had called me, I called them. They told me it was ready for pick up. When I picked up the comforter it was neatly folded but the filling was still hard and punched up. I asked to speak to the manager again. The same manager from before told me that the issue was the age of the comforter. I told her that I had not had the comforter for over a year. It was rarely used as it was in a guest room. Then she told me it was due to a manufacturer defect. I began to to get angry as she continued to place blame. In an effort not to make a scene, I attempted to leave. However, I thought that they should at least refund me the cost I paid in hopes of getting the comforter cleaned. She told me they were not able to refund me. I just did a proper general cleaning yesterday which resulted in changing the curtains, mats, carpets, and sheets. It was so much to do so I took it to ZIPS for cleaning. I chose them because they're known to be the least expensive in the area. read more

I live in the area and walked a 20lb bag to ZIPs for dry cleaning. First, the check in clerk seemed annoyed that I was bringing them this much business. Second, I spend the second night lugging all of my clothes to my home only to remove the plastic and find the clothes pressed yetstill dirty. I can't help but believe that they did little more than run a steamer over my clothes and throw them on a hanger. When I contacted the manager, Brett, he advised that he would not be refunding my money and since I visited his location in the past, this order must have had a great outcome. He requested that I take my items back to the store so that they can inspect them. He further advised that there may be little they can do to clean my coats with lint but that he would have to look at them. The time I will spend walking back to a crowded Zips with 27 items of clothes is worth more than the $56 spent. I advised that I will be contacting corporate and looking into my available for recourse. I will be resuming services with Parklawn pickup and delivery services. I'd rather spend the extra money and deal with professionals who properly clean my garments Ashley- I have taken photographs of my garments with your dated ZIPS tags attached to the labels. I am not bringing the large volume of clothing back to your facility so I can later guess which garment was cleaned. Further, your company had an opportunity to "inspect" and clean at the time I left my garments and paid for them. I find it extremely unprofessional that you have not contacted me via telephone to discuss and resolve this issue. I will file a consumer complaint if I do not hear back from you by close of business tomorrow. read more

BUYER BEWARE: Although I have been a regular customer for years they destroyed one shirt and stained another (quite obviously on the same machine) and refused to even negotiate a make good. And, the manager had the audacity to claim that it was my responsibility because I had left my laundry there too long. As I told the manager (really arrogant guy) they were there so long because Zips had lost them in the system and it took them a couple of months to find them. Nonetheless, it was a B.S. argument because they were in their possession the whole time. Suffice to say I WILL NEVER GO TO THAT ZIPS AGAIN!! read more

Great for cheap inexpensive garments. I use it for work and casual clothes that aren't important. Excellent for laundered starched shirts at 1.19 per shirt. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TAKE EXPENSIVE GARMENTS HERE!! EVER!EVER!EVER! They must use excessive heat or something but I had a nice Lauren Blazer worth 500 bucks cleaned. It had a shiny smooth fabric and it came back looking like a pair of faded jeans made of fuzzy terry cloth. My sister warned me that she had this same problem with an expensive dress but I didn't listen and it cost me dearly. I would never take a suit or nice slacks or blazer to them because it may be ruined. For cheap clothes the deal is great. But if you buy expensive clothes you better find another cleaners. read more

I'm a first time customer to Zips....and my expierience is it will be the last...I gave them a black wool coat to clean...when I got it back it had stains on it that I don't remember seeing, they also did not get all the beady ball lint that was on my coat. I also saw a piece of cat hair on my coat....ewww...I don't own any fur ball animals so I wondered where it came from....The quality of the dry cleaning is half cleaned, my coat looked semi cleaned with a layer of dirt left behind...Now I have to dry clean my coat again because Zips had it....and I don't trust their cleaning method. I even had the nerve to give them two of my other coats for cleaning before I looked at the first one....I don't know why the lines are so long at this place with this low grade cleaning....maybe the recession is helping them boost sales...I'll just have to pay real cleaners prices to get real cleaning service...Say no to drugs and Zips!! read more

RUINED A BRAND NEW VINEYARD VINES SHIRT AND REFUSE TO REPLACE THE SHIRT. Backstory: I bought a brand new button down in late summer, took the shirt to Zips to get dry cleaned, was returned to me with a stain on the shirt pocket, which was not there when I wore it for the first time. Result: Spoke to 2 different managers who both tried to re-clean the shirt and get the stain out. Did not work. Ask to speak to the owner, Kyo Kim, was never contacted by him - I happened to stop in to see if he was there and pick up my shirt, was able to get a hold of him. While speaking to Mr. Kim, he started out being helpful and understanding the situation - that quickly fizzled. He offered to treat the shirt himself, which I argued would do no good - that would have been the third wash on the same stain. He refused to help in any way besides re-washing the shirt, basically giving me the run-around. How many times will they try to re-wash and treat the same stain? I have finally had enough, this was December after all, and this whole thing started over the summer! This was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever experienced. In the past when cleaners have ruined a shirt of mine, they immediately offered to replace the shirt at full cost. THEY DIDNT EVEN REIMBURSE ME FOR THE "CLEANING" - WHAT A SCAM. P.S.- they also lose a ton of items and you may conveniently have a few extra shirts that are not yours - all in all, the savings do not outweigh the risks. I will never be returning there and I hope everyone rethinks taking any clothes there again - ESPECIALLY NICE CLOTHES read more

To the 'manager' on duty tonight 18/5 who would not open the door for me at 7:01pm even though there was a customer in the store and the tills were still open, I want you to know I bought a pretty little ribbon to dress up my zips card for when I come this week, pick up the last of my stuff, and surrender it to you. I am taking my business down the street. I hear that if you appear at the door of the next one down with a suitcase in hand and they are still there and have not closed out, they will let you in. Godddd this place used to be better. The staff is so unprofessional. There's a lazy vibe at the place. workers are barley moving to get you your order. Not a tiny smile. Pour customer service at the location. The owner really needs to shake things up manpower wise (don't hire whoever doesn't want to work) because the business model is good. it's like a factory, you're in and out. You get what you paid for, level of clothes cleaning is not the best but it does the job. They lost half of my order once, I was waiting almost an hour (what a waist of time!) for the lazy, indifferent workers (one of them was the "shift manager") to try and find it, they didn't & I had to call every two days for a week in order to check if they found it or not. They didn't call me once about that - I needed to chase them. On their behalf, a shift manager (that was supposed to call but never did) said that if they won't find it they will pay for the item's worth. Once it was found they just told me that I can come and get it, no apology, no compensation offer, no taking responsibility.. nothing - just bad service. I keep coming back because it's on the way to my workplace and it's cheap. The only one standing out for the good aspect is the women in the corner who has her alterations station, she works endlessly and hard every time I stop by and wait in line. Also you need to pay ahead. I hate that. Lots of parking spots in the back court - that's a really convenient thing. read more

There is nothing quite like being screwed over by your dry cleaners and then be lied to the face about it. This week I came to pick up my dress (a birthday present) and was told that it was rejected because there was several small rips in it and they couldn't dry clean it. The rip was directly on the front and would definitely be something I would notice while wearing it. I argued that the rip was not there before this, but of course the very "polite" Zips staffer claimed otherwise. A small part of me wondered what if I somehow did not see the rip (that would be directly over my boob). Maybe there was a chance I went around flashing people and no one said a thing. I was so upset with them that I did not take a close look at the dress after picking it up. Today I took a look at the dress again and realized that it was actually dry cleaned - it is made out of the cotton tank top material that stretches when you wear it, and shrinks when you clean it. Now I had no doubt that my dress actually went through the cleaning, the material looked as it would after a cleaning and NOT after me wearing it several times. So not only did they screw up the dress, they lied through their teeth about it. Thanks for owning up to your mistakes Zips..oh wait, you didn't. The only reason I am giving it a 2 star rating instead of 1, is I have previously had good service there before. Word to the wise, don't bring in any items of sentimental value to Zips. Twice burned by this place. A few years ago, they lost several items and went on to suggest that perhaps I had "dropped them in the parking lot or something". Items included the pants of a brand new suit, etc. No compensation offered for lost items. TWO years after several attempts to get them to find my clothes I got a call that I had uncollected items that would be disposed of if I didn't pick them up. Fast forward to 2018. I had a large order and decided to give them another try. Brought in my fall/winter clothes for cleaning before the season and BOOM, they lose several items AGAIN. Two dresses, a sweater and coat. When I called to look into it, I was told that they were busy and I'd have to come in to fill out a form. No customer service attitude AT ALL. No apologies or how can I help you. IF you take a chance with them be SURE to check that all items are present when you collect your clothes. Lesson learned. read more

So I'm picking clothes up with no ticket, and had to give my phone number. Phone number given and ID requested. Hold up, I been standing in line and no one giving a phone number has been asked for ID. I couldn't give the cashier's name because obviously Zips doesn't have a name tag policy. The dry cleaning is cheap, but you get what you pay for. For basic items - dress shirts, coats - it's fine, but don't bring your good clothes there. I had a nice silk dress burned (they pressed it rather than steaming) and when I spoke to the manager, he accused me of lying about the cost of the garment (until I brought in an identical dress with the tags attached). I decided to give them a second chance, but when my brand new trench coat came back missing the buckle, the manager told me they were not responsible for damage to garment "accessories." I've been going to Zips for years, and every time I go, I wonder why. The cashiers don't fully engage and barely say hello. The managers aren't much better. It's the $2 price tag that has kept me going, but their work is just short of sucking. The cashiers barely take note when you request special attention to a stain. It usually takes them 3 redo's to remove a stain. It's just frustrating. If you have inexpensive clothes that you don't quite care about, this place is perfect. If you have nice items that you want to keep looking like new or at least in good condition, don't go to Zips! I've begun to accumulate really nice clothes over the years, and this place just doesn't cut it. read more

So disappointed. They undercharged me to clean a blanket then called to tell me I owed them money. When I asked if I could pay on pick up they consented and even told me the day it would be ready. Zips damaged my cashmere sweater and wouldn't do anything about it. Said they would submit a claim which they got back to me in less than 24 hours and told me that they checked on their video cameras that they put a blue tag on the garment indicating before cleaning it, that it was in fact brought in damaged. I have had that sweater for not even a year and I know for a fact it wasn't ripped. I got it back from the cleaners with 3 rips! Absolutely ridiculous. read more

I have brought my dry cleaning to Zips about 4 times so far, and nothing has ever been ruined like other reviewers' experiences. I hope it stays that way! They are quick and efficient at pick up and drop off and are so affordable. My review will remain at a 5 until I am given any reason to drop it down. Hopefully that will not happen! read more

I took my new suit to get altered. Went to pick it up and they said the coat was not ready. Went back a week later and they now say it is lost. Have to wait 30 days for them to locate it before I have to wrestle over a replacement. The manger seems indifferent. Hopefully will have a happier resolution. read more

CUSTOMER BEWARE. DO NOT take anything of value here. You get what you pay for. Someone put a hanger hole in an expensive sweater and manager tries to say it was a moth. I've had a moth hole and it does not leave a small hole the width of the hanger wire. $200 wasted. This is the third time they've made the same damage, last time a silk blouse. Manager refuses to ever take responsibility. Poor customer service. I usually spend $50 each time. Go to the dry cleaner closer to metro and same price. Also they treat their employees horribly. Do not go here for alterations. I took two pairs of pants to have the waists taken in. For one pait the two sides were sewn back together unevely causing one side to have a gathering of fabric. The second pair was returned to me exactly as I had brought it in. They didn't do anything - except charge me for the work. When I told the clerk I was unhappy with the results, she showed the pants to the alterations guy, but he refused to fix them, saying it wasn't his fault and that he did exactly what I asked him to. I had to take both pairs to my regular dry cleaners and have both redone. Zips is a waste of money. Zero stars. read more

Great cleaners, if you consider your clothes disposable. Lost buttons, broken zippers, lost suit pants, all standard operating procedure. No apologies or compensation offered by the management when these were noted. Amazingly, when I asked that they repair a zipper they had broken in process of dry cleaning a garment for me, they MANAGER countered with an accusation that he thought I had brought the zipper in broken and was trying to take them for a ride. I've been going to this Zips for two years...it's never been all that nice but lately it's been atrocious...it's at the point where I think they are deliberately taking out my hems to give themselves more business. It's happened on 2 of the last 3 suits I've taken to them and they just ruined the hem on three of my fiance's dresses...it's not easy to mess up that many hems...and they couldn't have been more rude about it. I would have rated Zips a 3 for the standard dry cleaning and price. However, their customer service skills (or lack thereof) bring the rating to 1. I've now had a number of experiences where I've brought problems to their attention (staining on a down comforter, broken buttons, torn pants) and each time has been a struggle to get them to understand that these things happened while the items were with Zips. I understand that clothes going through the dry cleaning process may be damaged; however, if they are, it is the responsibility of the cleaner to pay for them. So today, after taking in a pair of pants to get the button replaced (after picking the pants up from Zips last night), I was told that I would have to pay for it. Here's a hint Zips - you should have paid the $3 to fix the button because you now lost the approximately $12-$15 I spend there every week. read more

Stay OUT of this dry cleaners! If you show them spots that need pre-treating, they ignore it, which means you have to waste time coming back again after they offer you a second cleaning because those spots weren't cleaned in the first place. And this has happened more than once! Know that they disclaim liability for everything on the back of their receipt, so if you come in to have one button sewed on and you get your coat back with three buttons missing, they disclaim liability for that like they just did my coat! So basically I wasted time getting one button sewed on because now my coat is unwearable since it's missing the other three that were there when I brought it in! Their counter clerks are very nice, but seriously the price isn't worth the multiple trips I've had to make for them to fix and re-do their careless cleaning! I'd rather pay more and preserve the life of my clothing. Thanks for nothing Zips! read more

6 weeks later, my shirt is still missing and I called to follow up with the manager, of course he forgot to file the claim and only offered me half of what I paid for the item they lost and forgot about. I can't warn people enough about this horrible place and poor customer service. read more

ZIPS MUST RECYCLE!!!! Dry cleaning service is good. They appear to encourage you to recycle your hangers, but I always see them dumped in the dumpster in the parking lot. One day one of the managers told me not to bother to align the hangers all the same way in the bin because they just throw them out! What a waste! ZIPS NEEDS TO RECYCLE!!!! read more

I've used Zips many times when I lived in the area. It is quick and cheap, and I certainly miss that now since I don't live in Van Ness anymore. I don't miss the fact that I was never quite satisfied with the quality of their dry cleaning. You can't beat $1.99 per clothing item and $19.99 for comforters, but I do think it makes sense to pay more but get those stains/wrinkles out. read more

Zips ruins your clothes. I have had 2 dresses ruined there. I pointed out stains to them that they said they could get out and then not only didn't get them out, but dry cleaned the dresses before stain treating so now the stains are permanently in my dresses. Even worse, they just give you your clothes back without saying anything! So unless you inspect your clothes after every time, you won't even know that there is still a stain on them until you put them on for an event. read more

Have taken my clothes to Zips a few times with no major problems. However, in the most recent trip, they lost a new $70 shirt. That's bad enough, but I then can't even put in a claim for the shirt (for which they won't reimburse the full value) for another 5 weeks. I understand - mistakes are made, but making me wait 5 weeks for your mistake - come on Zips, I expected better. I won't be recommending Zips. read more

A great service at a great price. Sign up with them and when the order is ready they will email you. The employees are nice and anything can be dry cleaned for so cheap it's unbelievable! I got a full suit done for $6! Cash only but ATM on site and only $2 fee which is good cause most private ATMs are $3 or more. Also service is quick, they say in by 9 out by 5. I have dropped off items at 9 and picked it up at 11 am. It is a great deal and can't be beat anywhere. Also if they dry clean something and it isn't up to standard which only happened once out of 200 times I have gone, it was the inside cuff of a shirt, bring it back and they will reclean for free no matter what it is! read more

I just completed my first and last experience at ZIPS. I Dropped off 17 dress shirts for cleaning and requested medium starch. The young lady who took in my shirts was polite and attentive, I paid and left. I came back in a couple of days, picked up my laundry and took it home. The next day I took a shirt out to wear and to my surprise the quality of the pressing was done at a "novice" level at best and the shirt appeared wrinkled, it did not appear to have enough or any starch at all. The shirts I took out in the following days were of similar low quality. However, today _ Monday morning- was exceptionally bad, I took another shirt out to wear to work and it was in a terrible condition: wrinkled, one area near the collar was so pressed-creased; it seems to have been over pressed and crumbed, it is probably permanently damaged (see Picture). A cuff button was missing it seems that it was hacked off with a tiny piece of the button remaining in place (see picture). There is no value for the money I did not go to ZIPS to save money I want to get the quality they claim, I'll never go back again. MAC read more

We did not yet used the dry cleaner service but had used the alteration services. We wanted to have new pants shortened as they were too long. We had already taken the right measurements at home and went there to have the bottom then adjusted as we needed. The sewing lady there was very rude and insisted we tried them again and wanted to make them shorter. We insisted we wanted them at the length we had measured and gave clear instructions. When we picked them up, we realized she decided to do what she wanted and got them too short. We returned and asked this to be fixed - we asked to speak to the manager. She was asked to come and she started screaming at us, insisting we tried them again - which showed clearly they were too short. She screamed more and was insulting until the manager stepped in and asked her if she could fix it, which she said she could, but still very rudely. Manager apologized for her and said they would be fixed within by the Tuesday, which they were not. Finally they were on the Wednesday and it was OK. But the whole experience was most unpleasant and this is the very last time we will use the alteration services there as the sewing lady is very rude and unprofessional and does not listen to clients. It is good that at least the manager was good and reasonable. read more
