Do not go here!!! I brought in a nice suit jacket made of synthetic material and they burned the jacket badly. Bright white burn marks with a smooth, melted feel. I brought the jacket back and the manager told me he would look at it and call me in a few days. I heard nothing so after over a week I followed up and I was told the owner, Brett V., was trying to "fix" it. After another week, I got a call that the owner couldn't fix it and he thinks it is just wear and tear. I was given Brett's number and I called him to follow up and see if they would compensate me for the damage. Brett was extremely combative and instead of attempting to remedy the issue, he decided to lecture on how he has "over 25 years of experience" and knows way more than me about dry cleaning. It was a terrible experience and my jacket is ruined. I've never picked up a suit from a dry cleaner in worse condition than when dropped off. These photos were actually sent to me by the manager to show me the damage. The prices are cheap, but you get what you pay for. read more

I dropped off two dresses yesterday that were dry clean only. This morning, I received a text that said the dresses were ready. I go and pick them up. Mind you, I've only worn these dresses one time, for an event about a month ago. One dress had cat hair on it, and smelled like it was not cleaned. I was then told that because they use organic products, it won't refresh or deodorize the garment. in all my 20+ years of using a dry cleaner, I have never encountered this issue or this type of answer. I asked to be refunded for the one dress that was clearly not cleaned. They told me the best they can do is try again. Im like why can't I get my money back? Needed my garments one hour before the 5 PM deadline for cleaning. Upon initial arrival, one of the custodians told me that I would need to wait until 5 PM before being able to pick up my items. I was devastated, because I needed the garments in order to attend an event this evening. Then KIERA, one of the employees, told me that she would check the back room to see if there was any possibility that they were finished early. She did, and thankfully my garments were ready for pick up. If it was not for her, I would not have had my items for my event tonight. She went out of her wayto ensure my satisfaction as a customer. I normally love going to ZIPS. It's fast and useful when you need a quick dry clean, however I was very let down earlier this week. I have custom made shirts and they were stained by ZIPS. I had to attended a wedding and when picked up my shirts they were ruined. I was forced to buy a shirt of the rack in order to have something for the wedding the following day, because the cleaners can't return anything before 1pm. I really hope I can get a refund for shirt I had to buy. I had no choice because my custom made shirts were destroyed by this location. read more

Came here today for a small load for the first time and the customer service was piss poor to say the least. My interaction with the Customer Service man and the manager were so bad that I'm contacting corporate. The customer service man appeared incoherent as he asked for my number to enroll me then abruptly walked away. I'm pretty sure that he was high on something but of course the manager denied it. I have never been treated so rudely by a staff member at any establishment I have ever been to as I was by JR today. I was scolded for walking up to the counter instead if waiting in line for a tailor that I did not need. I was insulted. I had a racial epithet said to me. I attempted to de-eacalate this unpleasantness and was told that I was the problem. I will never go here again and I suggest everyone else do the same until this employee is no longer working there. read more

The van ness store lost my clothes, fessed up a d promised to investigate, then claimed I had picked them up and would show me video: never did. Calling corporate was a waste of time. The store reached out through yelp but never contacted me or acknowledged my attempt to respond to the yelp. I'm giving the Hechinger Mall store a try. Definitely count your stuff before leaving. Keep or take pictures of all of your tickets. And don't let them consolidate many bundles on one ticket. Fingers crossed. The value and quick turnaround are hard to walk away from. I have used the ZIP on Connecticut Ave NW for many years and been largely happy with it. I assumed the experience would be similar at this location, but I could not have been more wrong. They changed their hours to close much earlier than advertised on their website and what they have painted in large print on their door, then yelled at me repeatedly when I walked in the wide open front door of the business at 3 minutes after their newly chosen closing time and flatly refused to return my clothing and comforter I have already paid them to clean. I guess I'll have to come back and try to recover my property again, but that will certainly be the last time. read more

Unfortunately, I have to give this location 1 star. The customer service and management are rude, and tend to tell customers wrong information regarding their pricing. Additionally, when attempting to pay for my dry cleaning, I was not advised of their $10 minimum until after my clothes had been taken. I was not permitted to simply pay $10 (even though that would be a gain for them at my loss). Not impressed and not sure if the low cost is worth the level of service. I took in a really expensive comforter I gave because my new puppy used the bathroom on it a couple times. When i picked it up and took it home I found the smell of urine was still in the comforter. I called ZIPS to express concern and they claimed that the scent will remain in my item because their cleaner doesn't have a scent? They don't offer refunds and just offered to clean it again but that would be pointless if they don't remove smells. I have unscented detergent and my clothes don't smell the same after washing. Unfortunately they don't abide by their posted hours. You should be able to pick up clothing until closing time as posted. Their employees mouthed through the locked door that they were closed. It was not closing time yet and they could have given us our clothes. Not a good way to do business ever but especially during Covid when everyone is struggling. Didn't ask for anything special just wanted you to stay open until the time that you were supposed to. Do better!!! read more

The fact that they pretty much dry clean any and everything for the less than $3 is unbelievable! If you drop off by 8am it will be ready the same day by 5pm. I have had many items cleaned and pressed here and they do a great job. No matter what time I come there is never a wait. The staff is pretty friendly and professional. The only complaint I have is that when I picked up my items last time, a staff member working in the back tagging items had his pants sagging so low you could see his underwear. I am a BIG fan of zips and used their service for the last 5 years. However, I took some garment to this location and they destroyed my garment (Ralph Lauren work dress, paid over $100). I am very upset because they didn't even bring it to my attention! This is extremely sneaky. I've literally been going to zips since I was a child. When I came of age I obviously saw the value but then once I moved to D.C. It was such a hassle to trek wherever for my little bit of dry cleaning I didn't bother. So imagine my excitement when one came to my neighborhood! I went a few times and they honestly didn't do the best job but for the value I figured hey, it's fine. I'm happy enough. Then I went to drop off 2 things and they told me, unlike every other time I went, I couldn't use my credit card. Now the first time I went I specifically asked about cash, because back in the day they used to be 100% cash only. But that's not what was communicated to me and I was happy with it. I probably could've let that slide if when I said ok, I got it for next time but let me just drop off today, the rude ass manager hadn't said "well she can just pay $10 then". To not be directly addressed was quite rude and it came across as F U, so I kindly took my belongings and said I won't be back. Affordable and effective garment cleaning . I have only had one garment I had to return because they missed a spot, but it was fixed in hours. The tailor on site, however, is awful. He's very short with customers and does rushed jobs. I brought an item for him to take in the waist and he did not put the seams back properly so the garment would look neat. I returned just to have him touch it up and asked if I could try it on to show him the area I was concerned about, he hurriedly took the garment, and re-sewed without allowing me to try it on. Then when I insisted on putting it on and showed him the issue, he told me "that was my problem" as if he wasn't the one who caused it. Honestly, the garment would've looked better if I I'd worn it without alterations. Smh I can't return to him after such poor customer service especially since he caused the problem he refused to fix. So considering that it is nearby, I will only be getting things dry cleaned if I go back. read more
