The first time I tried Zoa was a couple years ago at a halal food festival. I finally came to their physical location. I created my own bowl with Saffron rice as my base with Lamb meat and lentils as my proteins. You can add as much toppings as you like. I chose the red cabbage, golden cauliflower and feta cheese. Finished off with the Zesty Mint Avocado Yogurt sauce. I took a pretty picture for y'all and mixed everything all together. This now is hitting! So yummy! I got their Sweet Moroccan jasmine green tea and it's just the right amount of sweet and refreshing. Me and the baby bump are happy with lunch today

Finally tried after 3 years of wondering. Boy have I missed out! I should've known when my friend told me she gets her meal prep from here. The place isn't too big so finding parking can be a headache but the food is 10x worth it. So delicious and better for you options. It's like cava with more spice! Choose what you want in a bowl or get a pita like wrap. They do have drinks and desserts but I didn't try.

I didn't know Zoa was a chain until I read some other reviews. A friend at the gym told me how much she liked this place, so naturally, I had to check it out. The setup is a bit like "Moroccan Chipotle" and I am totally here for it. The service was fast and they gave me a sample of their jasmine tea before I left. (Side note: I now get this tea every time I go because of how yummy it is. Outside of it being a touch too sweet, the flavor is to die for). Some notable mentions: The cabbage/pickled onion topping? I could probably eat this for every meal and be content. I struggle with eating chicken, but I love the flavor here. It looks like they cook it in a dutch oven, so maybe I need to start doing that. There is essentially an eggplant hummus called "Zouka" that I am loving. The only thing that I think could change is the saffron rice. I'm not sure what it is but sometimes it's a little hard and I almost wish instead of regular white-grain rice there was a different style used- like a jasmine or basmati. All-in-all though, super happy with this place and will keep coming back.

Rabat Bowl with Moroccan Mint Tea and Fatima Bread.

I've known about the Zoa Moroccan Kitchen local chain for quite some time, but finally decided to try this establishment recently. I ordered the Rabat bowl, which is vegetarian and probably named after Rabat, the capital of Morocco. I ordered rice as the base, which is a good base. While the dish tasted good, I thought the presentation was off. Everything seemed smashed together. The dish would have benefited from highlighting separate components, some greenery and less harissa aioli, which was not spicy as advertised. It seemed like the hummus and zaalouk, which tends to be redder when made more authentically, were layered on top of each other. The cucumber tomato mix didn't really add anything, but I appreciated it nonetheless. It would be nice if Zoa served this with a green chermoula. I could be mistaken, but what Zoa refers to as Fatima bread looks just like Khobz, a Moroccan bread. I thought the Moroccan mint tea was excellent, but I have seen real mint leaves in Zoa's mint tea before, so I'm guessing that's probably not a consistent ingredient for the tea. The service here was top notch and the guy at the counter was very helpful, answering questions. Overall, I would rate this location a solid 4/5. I look forward to trying other dishes at Zoa in the future.

I've had the chance to try Zoa at their other locations before, and remember loving the food, so I was super excited to try this location. Overall the food was decent. I think the portion sizes have gone down now compared to when they first opened. I recommend making your own bowl so you can customize it! Loved the cauliflower and the eggplant sides.

Build your own bowl w/beef tangine, cauliflower, beets, white beans and feta over greens. Not a fan of the beef tangine.

Ordering I ordered ahead online. I love a good "online ordering" option. Parking Parking was super easy I pulled up right in front of the door. Order Pickup The pre-orders are kept on a metal rack that's to the left of the register. Service/dog friendly The employee there was a very kind and welcoming young lady who told me they allow dogs on their patio when I asked. Great news for me since my dog was in the car and I was ready to eat onsite. Outdoor dining Their patio is nice, covered, has a fan (maybe it had two?) and looks out across Rice Ave. Food Now here's where the stars dropped. I created my own bowl. As I ordered I wavered between ordering the beef tangine and the chicken charmoula. Well I ended up getting the beef. I definitely should've got the chicken. The beef was $1 more and it was WAY too sweet. I didn't taste any other flavor but sweetness/sugar. I'm not a big fan of my savory food tasting sweet and as I ate it I quickly regretted ignoring the terms "cinnamon carrots" and "honey pepper" that were part of the beef tangine's description. I also have a slight sensitivity to sugar so the beef gave me a slight headache from eating it. I couldn't even eat it all so I left still feeling a bit hungry and dissatisfied. Oh and I also got white beans, beets, feta and cauliflower in my bowl, over greens. Where I went wrong/in summary I should probably give this restaurant 4 stars instead of 3. To be totally honest if there was a separate category, I'd probably give the beef tangine 1.5 or 2 stars. I did not like it but it's really not the restaurant's fault I mucked up my bowl. Probably shouldn't have ordered online from a place I hadn't eaten at before, particularly one that serves the food up cafeteria style and where they probably would've let me taste things before ordering. Anyway, from looking at others' reviews there are people who actually do like the tangine. But yeah, not me. I'd return to Zoa but would make sure to get the chicken charmoula next time. Loved the patio, the service and the restaurant's cleanliness. Nice location as well.

After Morocco's surprise victory in the 2022 World Cup soccer, I just checked the food. I found ZOA on Yelp. It was located between Chase bank and HEB at the corner of Bellair and Rice.  I had no idea about the food. I just picked up the menu. Just like Panda Express, I asked the server to give me what I wanted. I got a little sandwich.  $10 was a bit higher than Panda Express. It was okay. Much better than Pita wrap at JackInthebox. Zoa might have a couple of locations. You may try it for a light meal.

The kefta bowl my wife got was 3 stars. We may not know how to order this to have it come out amazing. Moroccan meatballs, greens and sauces. I tried something she saw online, a yalla breakfast sandwich with Moroccan sausage and tomato sauce.....reminded me of a calzone, it rated 5 stars. I bought a bag of whole coffee beans, ground some and they were very good. This place is owned by the same guy that has coco crepes according to the coffee bag. I take a star off if there's no roast or use by date, none.....I'll give them another try and get the breakfast sammy with eggs. May try the cappuccino too.

I was going to Starbucks across the street when I noticed ZOA. Given that it was almost noon, I figured a real meal would likely be better than just getting a latte, and so I walked over. Having never been here, the server was super helpful in describing the different bases, meats, and toppings. I got a base of couscous, with lamb and steak. The steak is very sweet, so for those who don't like sweet-savory skip it! I definitely liked the lamb way better, but they were both very good. My toppings were relish, caramelized onions, chickpeas, carrots, and the eggplant and bell pepper toppings of which I can't remember the names. Everything was really good, and even as I got super full, I couldn't stop eating The ambiance is similar to a cafe, it's small inside, but very cute, and their patio area was just perfect on a cool sunny day like today. I'm very happy to have tried ZOA and will be back! Also their Moroccan jasmine green tea is amazing!

One for ordering main dishes like bowls, salads, and sandwiches while the other counter is for coffee, crepes, desserts, and pastries. The lady behind the main counter was very friendly and helpful. Despite being the only one there, she took her time and helped explained the menu. I really like the concept and how there's a Create Your Own Bowl or Salad menu option. My lunch date ordered the Casablanca bowl which consisted of roasted lamb and said the lamb was a little on the dry side with an overly gamey taste and would not recommend it. I ordered a Create Your Own Bow ($12.95) with Saffron Jasmine rice, and 6 veggie choices: fava bean hummus, cucumber tomato, sweet potato, lentils, roasted cauliflower, egg potato salad, and for an additional $3.50, the Potato cakes. The Potato cakes had a very soft and almost mushy inside texture. I didn't mind and thought it was good with the Harissa Aioli sauce. However, my veggie options were on the bland side so I had to purchase additional sauce for my bowl. I wish the menu allowed for 7 options instead of 6 since the scoops are very small. When I went over to the other counter for some cookies and gelato, the staff there were too busy talking to each other to help. When I asked for help, they didn't seem too keen on it so I skipped dessert and left. The concept is great, the casual decorative ambiance is fantastic, and the food is pretty good. However, the customer service is hit or miss. Note: There's a few two-top tables for outdoor seating. Also, parking in the front is very limited and can be a hectic during peak hours.

We got the lamb chops, octopus, the eggplant dip (my fave), and oysters. * Everything was a 10/10 except for the oysters, my husband didn't like the sauce it came with, he thought it was too heavy but I liked it, and the octopus - the sauce was a tad bit too salty but the flavor was delicious. We were highly impressed by the eggplant dip they had. That was probably the highlight of the meal. I mean everything was really good but you must get the eggplant dip. My husband and I don't normally go back to fancy restaurants, especially him, but he really wanted to go back to try other dishes which says a lot! We'd 100% come back to try other food and honestly, I was highly impressed.

We sat down, and there were crickets. No server to be found, no water filled our cups, no one even noticed we were there, until maybe about ten minutes after we got comfortable and decided what we wanted. The server rushed over and either he was inexperienced or ready to go home. I could tell either he was done for the day and had the attitude of let's hurry up and get this table out or just lacked experience. 1. Please update your Google business page or any place online that lists your hours. It still shows that the restaurant closes at 11pm. Unfortunately, we were not aware of the updated hours and thought we would have plenty of time to enjoy the frena, some pulpo, and wine...we were mistaken! The server said the kitchen closes at 9pm and we looked down at our watch it was 8:47pm.........and then said we could stay until 10 but last call on food. When I decided between my sparkling rose over the prosecco I tried, instead of grabbing me a brand new glass, he poured it into my sample glass, no dig to Postino's, but that's not what you'd accept an upscale restaurant such as Okto. It's good etiquette to grab a new glass. The octopus was overly salty, and the bread from the Frena was not the same as I had remembered. They made a very unclassy move and increased the volume of the music playing over the restaurant as a tactic to feel the urgency to wrap up and leave. 2. I asked if there was a sommelier available that evening, and the server looked at me like he didn't even know what a sommelier was, or if it was some type of dish! lol...train your staff better. Even if the sommelier was not available that evening or they no longer have one, they should be able to provide an appropriate response. (Insert facepalm) Overall, the service and the food were sub par. I'm glad I was able to see Okto at its best from my previous dining experiences, but I will not be returning after the experience I just had last night.

It was perfectly crispy on the outside and wonderfully soft and hot on the inside. Honestly, I would come back just for the bread. We started with the tuna tartare, which unexpectedly reminded me of dumplings. While it wasn't bad, because of the flavor, it kind of reminded me of raw dumplings, which threw me off a little. The octopus, however, was great. It was tender, though my personal preference would have been for a little more char. We visited on a Monday night to take advantage of the half-off Wagyu special. They bring the steak out on a cutting board and light a stem of sage to smoke the meat before slicing it table side. It was cooked just how I liked it, medium rare, where it's still pink and tender but not bloody. It was a fantastic presentation, and the truffle fries were a great side. To finish, we ordered the crème brûlée because the lychee foam and rose cream intrigued me. It was served outside of the traditional ceramic dish, which was a first for me, but it was absolutely delicious. I would definitely order it again. Dimly lit, dialed in, and dressed to the nines the kind of room that makes you sit up a little straighter without even realizing it. We came in during happy hour and kept it simple -- just a run of appetizers. But here's the thing: "simple" doesn't mean small. The portions were generous, almost deceptive. The burger alone? Easily big enough to split between two people, and plenty of couples and families around us were doing exactly that. It wasn't just bar food filler it had weight, substance, and intention. Across the board, the food was good satisfying, well-executed, and matched the price point perfectly. Nothing felt overpriced, nothing felt like a miss. For a place that looks this upscale, the happy hour pricing is surprisingly grounded, which makes the whole experience feel like you're getting away with something. What really sticks with you, though, is the atmosphere. It's beautiful without trying too hard, polished but still warm. The kind of place where you could just as easily have a quiet date night as you could celebrate something big. It may not have been a full deep dive into the menu this time, but based on what we had, Doris Metropolitan knows exactly what it's doing and it does it with style. A genuinely great experience from start to finish.
