I was invited here by a friend because I told him I'd never had Afgan food before. I love this little place. The service and overall vibe is pleasant. I wish I need the name of the foods I tried. I honestly didn't eat anything I wouldn't feed my own kids. I feel bad eating lamb, but that ish was so good! Lol The flavors and different flavor profiles, loved! Very clean and despite my overall anxiety of that part of town, it wasn't bad. Now where near as bad as I thought it was. Def would go again & take others!

It's a nice casual spot that is set to accompany family style dining. Staff was friendly. He was a one man show so if you do come have patience and leave ego at home. Patrons were also friendly too. Met a couple gentleman while waiting to order and exchanged pleasantries. I ordered the combo kebab and added a mango smoothie. It also came with naan, a salad and their green sauce. The salad was just ok, but I did enjoy the kebabs with green sauce and naan. Everything was fresh and hot. Also it is halal which is a huge plus in my book. I could have used just a tad more spice to my meat but the green sauce made up for it. My mango smoothie was delicious as well. I'm unsure if it had any dairy in it. They also had complimentary dessert which was a nice touch. I was pressed for time so didn't try it but it looked like some sort of custard. Pricing was excellent average plate cost was $15. Also attached is a halal market with meats, spices, etc.

Approved by a true Afghani! My partner is from Afghanistan and has been in the U.S. for about 4 years. While passing through Houston, he was craving food from home, so I ordered from here for him and it was a hit. He got the Qabuli Palau with Lamb Shank, and it was excellent. The meat was fresh, tender, and flavorful, and the rice tasted authentic -- just like he remembers. It even came with a side salad, which added a nice crunch between bites. The portion was generous, enough for two people, though he ordered two plates and two naan so he'd have leftovers for a couple days. The naan was also really good and authentic -- soft, fresh, and perfect with the pulao. Overall, this place is solid. When an Afghan gives their stamp of approval on Kabuli Pulao (the national dish of Afghanistan) you know it's done right. If it's your first time trying Afghan food, definitely go for the Qabuli Palau with the Lamb Shank.

If you like good food, then this is the place to go! Whenever I visit Houston, my mom always wants to come here. (My mom never likes outside food so this means a lot.) Between the two of us, we enjoy trying many dishes and love the leftovers later. I have tried so many things here. The Qabuli Palau is light and refreshing with a slight sweetness from the raisins, the lamb shank is tender, and the rice is perfectly cooked. The Goat Karahi again has a delicious depth of flavors without being overly spiced. The Chapli Kababs and the Afghani Tikka Kabobs are just chef's kiss served with some delicious bread. I think anything you try here will delight your tastebuds! Make sure to try some of the tea and dessert at the end!

So pleasantly surprised by this spot on Bellaire! Nice casual place for lunch. It's very clean inside and you can order entrees or platters for 2-3 people. Tried the mixed platter for 2, which was a huge serving of rice along with 3 different meats. The rice itself was very flavorful, I loved the addition of carrots and dried fruit. Every meat was delicious in its own way, especially the lamb shank which was so tender. The mantoo (dumplings) were so unique- perfectly cooked, the filling was savory and the yogurt dressing and beans on top made for a nice flavor combination. So glad we tried these! There's self serve hot tea as well. The people who work here are very nice and food came out after about 10 minutes. Would love to come back and try other menu items!

We have been wanting to try this place and so glad we finally did! It's a gem. The food is delicious - the portions are generous - and happy to support a local business. Between the four of us we ordered and shared the mantoo (dumplings), Bulani (potato and chives pancake), and the mixed platter for 3 (beef, chicken and lamb shank). We had plenty of the platter left. Everything was full of flavor. The owner was very sweet and offered the homemade green sauce (little spicy) and yogurt to accompany the meal. Delicious! I also ordered the homemade mango drink (with pistachios)! Highly recommend. But we also enjoyed the saffron tea. Go visit and enjoy the wonderful food!

Friendly service. The server took his time telling me what was included with my choices. In the end I asked for the lamb and chicken combo with rice and an order of potato samosa. Food was hot and tasty. I normally don't like raisins with my rice but I didn't mind theirs. As someone else mentioned, they are generous with their portions Came here after a recommendation, will definitely come back again.

We shared a rice and lamb shank dish, QABULI PALAU. It was delicious and balanced. The staff were kind and the place was clean. Reasonable prices and generous portions . What more could you ask for?

This is a hidden little gem in the back of a long strip mall and definitely a place you should add to your try list. It's not fancy to look at, but I always feel comfortable coming in here, and they can easily accommodate large parties. As usual, they brought a refreshing lettuce salad. Once I finished that off I ordered the Mantu appetizer. Mantu is stuffed with a wonderful ground beef filling, a little pocket of deliciousness, a tiny spicy heat to it, and a moist sauce that rounds out the flavor, and is finished with a generous sprinkle of sumac. It's a delicious light dumpling!! My favorite dish that I keep ordering over and over is the Showra. This is a super flavorful broth in which a lamb shank sits along with a potato. It sounds so simple, and it is, but I think it's absolutely wonderful. I've never seen a naan prepared the way they do their version. Pull off pieces and dip that into the broth so that it gets all soggy and delicious :-). They serve it with a small side of onion and lemon, and I squeeze the lemon juice into it and dump the onion into the hot broth. I like to finish the meal with the light Firni milk pudding sprinkled with chopped pistachios. While eating here, you could run next-door to the market if you need some Halal meat. I think the above is my favorite meal here.

The garlic naan was big and tasted fresh, one of my favorite naans I've had. The chapli dish was the standout. The beef was so flavorful and I normally don't enjoy ground beef!! Highly highly recommend. Complimentary hummus which went great with the naan however nothing to write home about. Complimentary hot green tea. Drinks are self serve. Dishes are served on paper plates and there are styrofoam plates to eat individually. I do wish they used glass dishware. Service was amazing. I was in line to order to-go but the lady in front of me had the hardest time paying for her order. After several unsuccessful attempts, another lady came by to take my order so that she could put my order to the kitchen first while I waited to pay. I found that to be extremely considerate of the worker to think to do that. Food came out in about 15 minutes. I was so hungry I ended up deciding to eat in my car. A little disappointed that they didn't include any utensils (nor did they ask if needed any), but thankfully I had some extras in my car. I ordered a chicken kebab and they were nice enough to sub my rice for a salad without extra charge. Also ordered the borani bademjan because I'm a fan of all things eggplant. Everything was delicious. The chicken kebab was juicy, moist, and nicely seasoned. However, my favorite item was hands down the borani bademjan. It had large pieces of smoky grilled eggplants and I love the spiced tomato flavors. Yum! Highly recommend for all eggplant fanatics. The borani came with a piece of nan that was good as well. I want this place to succeed because the food is just SO delicious however, it saddens me that the waiter was so terrible. He was dressed in torn up jeans and was on his phone as if it was glued to his face. I had no idea he was the waiter until I saw him go in the kitchen and I had to flag him down like hi can we order?! When he came to take our order he was the most meh person ever. He just stared out at the window as he stood there waiting for us to place our order. He didn't offer water or drinks until I called him back to ask like...can I at least have some water please? Then he yells from the counter, do you want room temperature or cold? Ugh I love this restaurants food but it saddens me to think that this waiter is going to be the downfall of this place. At one point he was loudly watching tik tok videos (to the point where I couldn't hear my friend talking to me from across the table). The other tables were also visibly annoyed with his lackluster energy and effort and one family was willing to leave because of his meh attitude. Saffron--please let go of this waiter. Once seated our server Baba introduced himself and made great recommendations. Now I'm not the biggest fan of hummus but I'm glad I got to try it. To start off, they brought us some complimentary bread. It came out hot & fresh. The bread was fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. I also enjoyed the roasted sesame seeds that they put on top of the bread. Then I had the mango lemonade drink which I thought was refreshing and the mango was strong. As stated I rarely eat hummus but theirs is made in house and I can tell because it was delicious. It was creamy, nutty, savory and earthy. My friend decided to get their lamb shish kabob combo and I got the soltani kabob. His came with lamb and chicken and mine came with beef tenderloin and ground beef. Both dishes were amazing especially his since the chicken was bursting with flavor. Nicely grilled and seasoned. The lamb was also solid as well, it was tendered. The beef tenderloin was also nicely seasoned & tendered. The ground beef was my least favorite since it tasted like hamburger meat, but I don't hate it. The rice was cooked to perfection. At the end I ordered their dessert and got the Bastani Irani. It says on the website that it's homemade but our server informed us that they purchased it from a vendor. Not a big deal for me since the ice cream was very good. Creamy, sweet and the nuts added texture to the dessert. Baba was kind enough to give me two more breads to take home since I still had hummus leftover, I'm definitely gonna devoured it the next day. The hummus was smooth, creamy, and elevated even more by the complimentary fresh bread, which came out warm and perfectly baked--easily one of the highlights of the meal. For mains, the Koobideh Combination stole the show. The kababs were juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly, with that classic smoky flavor that makes Persian kabobs so good. Definitely the standout dish and a must-order. The Salmon & Chicken combo was equally impressive--both proteins were tender, nicely grilled, and paired beautifully with the saffron rice and grilled vegetables, giving you a great mix of flavors and textures.
