I was able to eat it easily and get a little piece of everything in each bite. The bagels seem smaller than average, but who needs giant bagels anyway? I found these to be reasonably sized. Big overstuffed bagels that fall apart while you eat them - lox sliding all over the place - are really annoying. These were satisfying without making you feel gross after. The coffee selection exceeded our expectations. We shared a chemex for 2. They had a few single origin coffees to choose from and we had their pink bourbon Columbian. We enjoyed our coffee and bagels outside in their seating area and this was once of my favorite parts of our trip! We didn't have to wait too long, but as we were finishing, a long line was forming down the block. Consider getting there a little early!

They even have an indoor atrium with fake windows, which was a pretty cool touch! I started with their tropical unsweetened iced tea, which was incredibly refreshing and delicious. As someone who eats gluten-free, I was thrilled to see how accommodating they are. They offer GF pizza and pasta, and other GF items are clearly marked on the menu. I asked our server about their cross-contamination protocols for the pizza, and she was super reassuring: they use a fresh pan and change their gloves, even though it goes into the same oven. I built my own pie with red sauce, cheese, and hot honey, and it was absolutely fantastic. My husband ordered a regular Detroit-style pizza and said it was delicious. They even have a few GF dessert options on the menu, but we were way too full to try them this time. We will definitely be back!

I believe that the first time I went there was in 1988 when I was 16 (my two older cousins were raised in Union Pier), and since I visit SW MI at least twice a year, I never leave without going to Oink's before coming home. As I always took my kids to Warren Dunes instead of Chicago beaches, my kids always got to enjoy Oink's before coming back home also! So this year was no different and my wife and I got to sit down and enjoy ice cream before coming back home. I have always loved the different ice cream flavors (especially strawberry cheesecake), and as I always do, I bought a few pig keychains and other things from the gift shop. I also have always loved the old-school vibe! So every time I am up that way, I'll be there!! One last thing: I got to meet Coach Vink back in the day because my older two cousins (The McSmith brothers, who both passed away unexpectedly in 2024 and 2025), played for him at New Buffalo High School.
