Came in with my daughter and husband, ordered a caramel latte, and barista corrected me on how to say caramel -_- Also made it with whole milk when I asked for breve. Also got the size wrong, I ordered * 2* 16oz but received a 16oz and 12 oz. Having them remake the drink correctly seemed to be a task, and even though it was suppose to have 4 shots, it didn't taste strong as my husbands 4 shot latte. Daughter declined getting something as she saw the condescending attitude of both baristas. Say what you want about Starbucks, when a mistake is made they do try to make it right. We'll try the location near Greenlake next, but this location was a serious bust. Zoka is my favorite coffee franchise in Seattle, and the Blakeley location is my favorite Zoka. You should come here if you're looking for consistently delicious coffee beverages and a table near gigantic, wall-wide windows. Some go-to Zoka specials are their honey cardamom latte (unbelievably good! I LOVE getting this served hot during fall/winter) and several creative twists on a classic chai. But they also excel at the basics - Zoka is home to my favorite vanilla latte and a spectacular drip coffee. On my most recent visit, I had a regular iced chai latte, which I was happy to see served with a moderate amount of ice without any special request on my part (I hate when you order an iced beverage and then it's practically all ice, no beverage). It's not the best chai I've ever tasted, but it is on the spicier side and it satisfied the chai craving I'd had for the past few days. My friend, who is a former Retreat barista, ordered their plain 12 oz latte and commented that it was perfectly steamed, served at the perfect temperature, had a good texture/consistency of foam, and was "very solid" all around. As always at Zoka! They are consistently excellent and neither of us has had a bad latte here in our many, many trips. University Zoka is my favorite coffee shop to study in. It's close to UW (a short walk from the 65 bus stop), and the huge windows and big wooden tables make it a great place to spread out and settle in for a productive morning or afternoon. Parking can be a little dicey in this crowded area, so if it's not a Sunday I usually opt to bus here. read more

After our return from a spring trip of a few weeks in Europe, I assumed I could go right back to my coffee habits. After all, this is Seattle and the expresso is good. Flash forward a week, and my unexpectedly Francopiled palate (how did that happen in 2 short weeks?) hijacks my brain, and I keep steering my car in the direction of Zoka for thick, rich and deeply flavored lattes with dark and substantial expresso. Even keeled baristas with friendly smiles and sans attitude, a respectable Mighty Donut selection (see, I have fully recovered from two weeks of croissants and am back to my Seattle ways) some good Brit-pop music on offer, and some powerful expresso in my large white mug, and the Paris withdrawals are not so bad after all. I am a fan of Zoka and enjoy the full-strength expresso here. I am also a fan of the low-key space as a nice place to meet friends for a chat, although it is less sophisticated than some spots, it is comfortable, friendly, and the expresso is very good. The baked goods are done in house, which I appreciate, but in all honesty, they don't reach the same levels as the fantastic expresso. Zoka is my local go-to spot, and while the atmosphere is a little bit university coffee shop, and the bathrooms a little bit dorm room (as in ewwww!), the expresso (and soy lattes) are roasted nice and strong, with a fantastic taste, they do a good crema, and they near to my hood, which is perfect for that groggy morning pop-in for fuel. read more

By far my favorite place to study in Seattle. The coffee (and other drinks): on the expensive side, but you taste what you've paid for. Their espresso is high-quality and rich, and the drip is full-bodied. I've found that their lattes and cappuccinos are on the sweeter side. They have really fun drinks, like a honey cardamom latte and a lavender mocha. Milk alternatives: oat (from the brand Oatly), almond, soy, hemp, coconut Wi-Fi (because we know that's what you came for): free up to 6 hrs. It gets pretty slow (but still bearable) when it's busy, so I wouldn't come here if you need a ton of bandwidth for whatever you're working on. There's no code or anything, just open up your browser. Parking: no dedicated parking lot but I've always been able to find street parking within 4 blocks - come in the morning if you're concerned. Spots are very plentiful on Sundays. Service: 5 stars. Every barista here engages in just the right amount of unhurried chit-chat with you, and they're very friendly without being overbearing. Atmosphere: Almost everyone inside is working silently on a laptop. The background music is quiet enough to permit you to focus, but loud enough that having a conversation wouldn't be awkward. It's an open, airy space with funky art and warm, relaxed vibes. Outside is great for catching up with friends (weather permitting). I've never had trouble finding a seat, inside or outside, though it does get crowded on weekends. read more

Used to go here often. Went in one day and ordered a vanilla latte with oat milk. Two of the MLM girl baristas and the little boy who works there immediately started making fun of me for my order like I wasn't standing right there. And while they made my order they started talking about how they were soooooo hungover from all the vodka shots they drank last night :O I get it's not personal and it's kind of funny. But damn I haven't been back in probably 6 months? Not saying don't go there, but for the love of christ don't order a vanilla latte with oat milk. 2 stars for the coffee experience. Their drip coffee was good. But the real reason for the reviews is because my wife loved this place so much. I don't know why, but she could not stop raving about how good her espresso drink was. Something with mocha and a bunch of other stuff that I can't keep up with. But this is the first time we've ever seen a coffee shop that serves hemp milk. And we live in Denver! I don't think hemp actually produces milk, but whatever. Neither do soy beans or almonds. We visited Zoka twice during a three day trip, so it must be good. In the city known for a different large coffee chain, Zoka provides a nice small coffee shop feel with a good dose of interesting drink options. read more

Great urban, funky-grungy, hipsterish type coffee shop near University Village and just around the block from Silver Cloud Hotel. It's a very comfy, at-home spot with plenty of seating, outlets and free wifi. I love the combo of well lived in wood floors, big leather arm chairs and stone fireplace in contrast to the light from the windows that run the length of the shop. They do their own roasting and their passion for coffee is apparent in the delicious selections of drinks I received (cold brew and vanilla latte) over a recent 3 day trip in Seattle. Zoka is hands-down our favorite coffee shop in Seattle! We were sad to move away from the original Zoka in Tangletown, but we are so happy to be near the newer Ravenna location! Zoka coffee never fails to burst with flavor and character. We love their Americanos, lattes, teas, but if we're in need of a treat we their slightly sweet, slightly spicy Aztec Mocha. My fiancé, friend, and I had a nice time at Zoka. I had heard that this caffeine stop in Seattle was a must-visit, so I listened. I ordered a non-fat cappuccino, and the flavor was good, though I was surprised that it wasn't served hotter. I brought it back to the counter, and they offered to make another one a bit hotter. That one was better. The dessert bar that we shared, however, was amazing. They call it a "Zoka bar," but it was essentially a 7-layer bar that also had a corner dipped in chocolate. MMMMMMMMMmmmm. Wish I had taken a picture, but it disappeared too quickly! I did manage to snag one of my cappuccino. Bonus points for having tons of places to sit and that street parking was easy. I'm not sure that I'll go out of my way for Zoka when I'm in Seattle again, but I'd stop in if I were already in the area. read more

I was sort of looking out for a rather offbeat spot off the U Village so a search brought forth me Uz. It's a vast space which for some reason just seems a bit off to me, not sure why, and despite it's somewhat neat layout. I was curious about the chai (of course, _usually_ I ask about it everywhere) and sure enough, they even had a few different types on the board and offered combos. I think they were sweet, spicy, ginger, lavender and/or combos thereof... Lavender? No thank you. I think just the sweet chai with shots (dirty) was my result. Not bad! read more

I've been to different locations of Zoka before, but this was my first time and this location. The space seems to be a bit bigger than other locations, and there's a ton of tables and chairs for studying, charting, and enjoying your cup of coffee. Mid day on a Sunday, this place was filled with students studying and it was near impossible to find a table. With a little luck, though, we were able to get one shortly. I ordered an apple cider chai latte and it was delicious! Would definitely come back again just for that drink. A great place to study, relax, and enjoy some awesome coffee! read more

Love checking out new coffee shops near my work and came across Zoka. The place is HUGE. Lots of wood interior. Plenty of tables and chairs available for studying, hanging out, or lounging. They roast their own beans and and make their own chocolate in house. I ordered an iced lavender mocha per the recommendation of the barista. The mocha itself is definitely not sweet and the lavender comes through the drink, but it doesn't overpower the espresso itself. The drink isn't bad, but it's not necessarily my favorite. I'm typically a latte gal, so I'd probably go back and try that next. read more

Not sure why there are a lot of 4/5 star reviews talking about their drinks, but I definitely did not like the drink I got here. Before I had a chance to try this place, my friend also said that he didn't like the coffee here. I guess I should've listened to him! But that's not the only reason why I didn't like this place. The barista I talked to was pretty rude and curt even though I was my normal friendly self. I asked about the Aztec mocha (which is apparently a mocha with habanero peppers) and had to figure out what I wanted and the barista seemed pretty impatient. After I said I wanted the Chai, she mentioned the different chai flavors pretty quietly, so I had to ask her to repeat them. She seemed pretty annoyed but repeated them and placed my order. I said I wanted a 12 oz and she rang me up for a 16oz and swiped my card before I could even tell her she charged me for a 16. I didn't want to cause too much trouble, so I just paid for it. The drink was made pretty quickly, but I was surprised at how bad the drink was. The iced lavender chai I got was pretty small and half of the cup was ice. When I tried it, there was no chai or lavender flavor, and I feel like I just paid $5 for a small cup of iced milk. So I'm pretty annoyed at this point, which is why I really don't recommend this place. The service isn't the best and the drink I got was pretty bad. Maybe you'd have better luck with one of their other overpriced espresso drinks. The only thing they got going for them here is the environment and the decor. They have a lot of tables and outlets here, and the coffee shop itself is very spacious so it doesn't feel cramped. Plus, there's free Wi-Fi for 6 hours. Yay, found myself a new study spot! Weekends get crowded, especially Sunday mornings. If you're lucky enough to snag a spot, sit back and enjoy the varietal music they play as you sip your delicious heart foam designed latte. Plenty of outlets spread around the place. The ham & gruyere quiche is delicious! I do miss their Cozy lattes they used to make, apparently they don't have the syrup or mix anymore? I visited Zoka Coffee while visiting family in Washington. I wanted to try something while I was there that wasn't Starbucks LOL ;] If you're not familiar with the area, it's kind of hard to find. The sweet chai tea was pretty good; sweet but still had that tangy/spicy taste I enjoy. FYI: Their chocolate chip cookies were as big as my head; and no, I'm not exaggerating at all. I've come to enjoy Zoka more and more. Their coffee and teas are definitely better than average. They have great options and varieties. They make their own blends of coffee, their lattes are great, and anything with espresso comes with two shots. Chai can be ordered sweet or spicy, which is great, because I like to know which way I am going to have it prepared. They have a large variety of teas as well, and I am in love with their lychee tea. There is also a pretty good variety of treats. The atmosphere is nice, kind of traditional and studious. The ambiance leaves a little to be desired, it's kind of buzzing with students, but I find it a great place to work. The sitting-in experience can be pretty frustrating though. This place is often busy, with hard-to-find parking and patrons staking claim to tables for several hours with their laptops. The service is friendly but a little scattered as they are so busy. If you are only a slight coffee snob and like but don't obsess over tea, then you'll enjoy Zoka. It is a great place to grab a drink and treat to go. If you have the resolve and can wait for a seat, there are a lot of outlets and free wifi. It is better yet if you can learn what the slower times are to come in. It is also open until midnight, which is great considering the fact that there are much fewer late night coffee shops than their should be in this city. read more

First off, the coffee is to die for. Particularly the Aztec mocha. This is the kind of place where the coffee is so great they just HAVE to make the foam beautiful. The pastries - yum! They have all the standard affair: coffee cake, muffins, croissants. They also have paninis! The space is very extensive as well, with patio chairs strewn across the side walk, plenty of inside small tables and a large space for groups. It's very open and even with a lot of people inside it doesn't feel awfully crowded. Speaking of space - you can reserve meeting tables for your group. I help run a non profit industry group that meets here monthly and we reserve tables for 3 hours at a time. The parking situation is the only thing that's not so great. If you have a meeting - arrive early. Parking is sparse, even more so during home games for the Husky football team. read more

If your concern is to enjoy a delicious cup of coffee/latte, I can't really speak to that I only have gotten the latte (vanilla) once and I am primarily a tea drinker. Zoka is so good. My cousin took me here in the afternoon one day and it was pretty full, but it was super quiet so it's a great place to study or work. It was kind of awkward for us to chat there because it was so quiet. I'm not sure if there was music playing or not... I don't think there was though. In terms of the food, the cookies are so good. If you like walnuts, try the Zoka Bar and you will not be disappointed. It's somewhere in between a blonde and a chocolate chip cookie with nuts. So good. The staff was friendly and the coffee was priced like any nice coffee place. I had tea and it was good, but my cousin complained that her extra hot coffee wasn't hot enough. I'm definitely going back soon, but the parking is kinda iffy. Luckily there is a bus stop maybe a block away. read more
