We've been promising ourselves to stop here all summer long as we drive back from fishing Deckers. Today we stopped for lunch. I had the Zoka burger and my hubbie had the Angus burger. It was a pleasure to have a quality burger that was properly cooked to order! I love my burgers rare, and most places miss the mark and I get medium rare. Not this time! My hubbie's medium rare was perfect as well. The sauteed onions were fabulous, as was the cambozola cheese on our burgers. Onion rings were crisp and hot, served with a dressing/dip that was so yummy on the fries as well that we dumped what was left into our to go container. My hubbie said his sweet potatoe fries were the best he ever had, and I agree. The portions were generous enough that we now have lunch for tomorrow. Our waitress was great, going over the menu and answering our questions. We will be back! read more

The service was fantastic and the food was really good. The French fries were very crispy and fat like a "home frie" which I love. The Korean chicken wings were deep fried with a thick crust then thickly covered in sauce. They are very rich so with 10 per order are better to share. We come out to Colorado every year and Zokas is one of our favorite annual traditions. Unfortunately, our experience this year was different than previous years. Beers were served warm and one of our orders was forgotten about and not ready until almost everyone else was done with their food. Furthermore, it was burnt. Great place to stop for lunch or just a beer. The people that worked there were very nice and helpful. They were very kind to my 96 year old grandpa which was nice. We couldn't decide which beers to get so they helped us out by letting us sample a few so we chose the best. I'd recommend the BBQ pork sandwich. It came on a ciabatta bun with slaw on top. After stopping at the new Riverbend in Bailey, where we waited 20 minutes for them to tell us we couldn't tie our dog to the outdoor deck, even though there were 5 dogs out there already - we luckily said goodbye forever to that waste of a restaurant and headed to Pine. Zoka's is everything we look for in a restsurant and more. Beautiful patio, wonderful service and relatively quiet setting. The food is amazing and innovative. We loved the honey smoked salmon appy. Tasted so fresh and not overly sweet. Best of all Zoka's is super dog friendly! They allow dogs on the patio and even offer a $4.00 fido burger which I'm sure was the best thing our Golden has ever had! Don't waste your time in Bailey, drive a little further and eat where they appreciate your business and deliver great food! read more

I had rated this as four stars, but after the last visit, I'm changing it. Zoka's has slipped back into old habits of terrible service. It took an hour just to get nachos. The size of their menu almost doubled, which I suspect may be related to the kitchen slowness. Most bothersome was that the manager didn't seemed very concerned by it at all. As the evening advances, so do everyone's social skills and the more fun you're having, the more extra pours you get with each course. It's a drive to Pine from Denver, but so worth it. Talk about a diamond in the rough! Went backpacking with some friends and stopped in expecting some burgers and fries. Wrong. Full bar with a fine beer selection (3 taps of Avery, Franziskaner, some other CO company). The food menu was very sophisticated and had everything from quinoa salad to stir fry to the Kobe beef burgers others have talked about. The owner chatted us up and the wait staff was friendly. My dark and stormy was fantastic. The stir fry was a little too salty but alfredo pasta was good and same with the burger. Definitely the best place around those parts. read more

The last thing I expected to be witness to after entering Zoka's Bar and Grill was a cook exiting the kitchen in an apron that had a print of an oiled muscle man from head to toe, women were hooting and howling and the kids were laughing hysterically, I knew I was in a good place. As I entered the bar I noticed a mural of two dogs above the entrance and quickly associated it with the Zoka's sign I saw on my way in, people who like dogs are good with me! I approached the bar and was delighted to see the massive oak framed mirror that stood watch over the enchanting array of booze below. Just by taking a look around I could tell that the food was going to be quality, to what extent I had no Idea. The bar tender was very nice and it was in a genuine way! Not the I'm going to smile for a 20% or more tip kind of nice. In fact I noticed this trend around the entire restaurant and it was a good change of pace, real people are hard to find these days. Even the owner Kurt came out and introduced himself to me, we chatted for a few minutes and it became obvious that everyone associated with Zoka's had a common goal. Good food, good spirits, and good people. The atmosphere was great and the noise level was rather moderate, meaning you didn't have to yell at the person who was sitting next to you to carry on a conversation. The restaurant itself looked like it had recently undergone a renovation and was done properly; the interior design was perfect and fit the location great. Even the bathrooms were nice which I think says a lot. Being quite the beer snob and home brewer is almost a sin because I am more often than not disappointed with the beer lists I see at restaurants all around. This was not exactly the case at Zoka's I perused the beer list for a moment and noticed they had several good beers on tap and an exceptional wine selection. They had many Avery beers on tap and also had a decent selection of bottles behind the bar, I'd like to see them expand the list but wouldn't expect it considering Zoka's is a small restaurant about an hour from Denver. None the less I didn't have much difficulty finding one of my "go-to" beers which was an IPA from Avery Brewery. Although the next time I return to Zoka's I will definitely be exploring the depths of their wine list and bourbons! After getting my beer I had the chance to take a deeper look into their menu which a nicely bound green leather book. The menu changes daily which made me exulted in indecision, the array of meals spanned from Kobe beef burgers to a Salmon and Stilton burger and I've even heard a couple of times that they have "the best blue crab cakes ever!" My sister lives in Maryland and I go there a lot so that is quite the statement, but I'll be back to give those a review as well! I finally managed to narrow my choices down to the Salmon and Stilton Burger and the Reuben; I chose the Reuben and was absolutely blown away. I used to be a cook and have had many great cuts of meat and my fair share of Reuben's, but this was by far the best I have ever had. The meat was house cured corned beef and had beautifully bloody tint that drew me straight in. The meal was hugely rewarding and I still felt great an hour later, whoever is responsible for this celestial lunch deserves a place in heaven regardless of their sins! When I got my bill it was $14.00, that's what I call a good price point. Zoka's is worth the drive from Denver and then some even if it is just for the people, and if you're in the area you simply cannot pass up on the opportunity. I would recommend Zoka's to bikers, priests, children, the elderly and your mom. Anyone who appreciates good food needs to put this one on their list. read more

Three stars may not be fair for the entire restaurant, but we had a horrible server. We sat on the patio which was lovely. One server was heading our way, then another one swooped in and he was the most condescending server I've ever experienced. He made our experience pretty awful. Bother our burgers were overcooked but still tasty. Busy place for being in the middle of nowhere. I would be willing to go back, but if I got the same server, I'd just leave. read more

Found this little gem of a place the other night and tried it for the first time based on previous Yelp reviews and it did not disappoint...started with a classic wedge salad and it was very good....then moved onto the main course of a flat iron steak topped with chimichurri and accompanied with mashed potatoes and veggies....the steak was cooked a perfect medium rare and the mashed potatoes were delicious....the only critique I would have is, in my opinion the chimichurri needed more garlic and red wine vinegar....then took home a slice of key lime pie and when I had it, it didn't miss a mark....one of the best that I have tried....will definitely be returning to try other dishes read more

I'd driven past this place several times, and just got the chance to stop in on Sunday for lunch. I was expecting standard bar food, but was pleasantly surprised to find better. Go for a drive up 285, make a left at 126 and cruise down to the valley to Pine. Weekends in the summer can make for a busy road with all the bikers and campers but all in all it's a nice scenic drive. I stop at Zoka's once in a while when I'm in the area. The wraparound porch is my favorite place to chill. I have been impressed with every meal I've ordered. The portions are just right, so don't expect leftovers. In my case, I'm sure my dogs would get to any leftovers before me on the ride home anyway. And load your wallet, because you're paying for quality. Bring your dog(s) The Platte River forks nearby and this restaurant is dog friendly! Fully equipped with tie ups and water bowls. If you want to take a different route home to avoid some of the traffic back up 126, keep going South on 126 past Pine and take a left on S Platte River Rd/CR96 (unpaved) and follow the river a few miles until you see Foxton Rd (paved) on your left. This will take you back up the hill to 285 near Conifer. read more

I absolutely loved this restaurant. My husband and I drove fifteen miles from the remote cabin where we were staying on the recommendation of the Deckers General Store owner. The ambiance is artistically woodsy and charmingly garish; the service was wonderful - Erik (?) was obviously a proponent of many a Zoka's dish; the food was delicious, fresh, and sourced from local farms; the wine list was impressive and reasonably priced. Although I don't feel the need to tout my restaurant experience in an effort to lend validity to my excitement about this place, let it be known that I have served at several upscale restaurants, and I have eaten at countless fine fooderies. Yum, yum, yummy! The kiddos and I stopped by after a hike and it was marvelous. They have the option of bento boxes for the kids with fruit, veggies, choice of starch & choice of protein (with one option being steak) - beautiful & tasty. I had the Salmon & Stilton Burger - and it was like nothing I had tasted before - the cheese & salmon together was a fabulous, tangy combination. Had it with their awesome, unusual purple potato salad. The place had a lovely ambiance and served up excellent beer. This place is awesome. I had no idea it even existed, but my parents bought some property that we came to check out, and they found it in their drives around the area. First, the decor is awesome. Love it. Simple, but really matches the theme of the area, and very nicely done. The employees are so friendly and really had a good sense of humor for my dad's over-the-top jokes. The owner came and talked to us, the server, Adam, had great suggestions for meals, and the food was fantastic. I had the Kobe burger (came with a brie and bleu cheese mix and sweet and spicy bacon that was absolutely to die for), my husband had the smoked prime rib, dad had Asian tuna dish, and mom had flank steak. All cooked perfectly, all amazing. Great cuts of meat, and such good sauces and complimenting sides along with them. I will agree with some of the other reviewers that they are a little on the slow side with the food service, but we were in no hurry, so it wasn't an issue for us. Overall, a great hidden gem! Oh, and the desserts were fantastic. Warm brownie with homemade lingonberry sauce and ice cream... made my day. And my husband scraped the ramekin clean of creme brulee. Very disappointing service. After a gorgeous hike with another family we stopped here for a late lunch. We had read reviews and were excited to try it out. The restaurant appeared quasi-busy--a steady crowd but empty tables. They were able to seat the 8 of us promptly after pushing a few tables together. Then we waited. And waited. People who were seated after us placed their order and received their beverages. A server finally came up to us and apologized and stated 'she didn't know this was her table'. She took our food and drink orders, and brought out our drinks in an acceptable amount of time. Then we waited and waited. Our server came back to deliver another round of drinks. But still no food. After another twenty minutes or so we asked where our food was, and when we should expect it (We had now been seated for about an hour). Our server was unapologetic and said 'They're cooking it. We're busy'. I pointed out the table next to us was seated after us and they had completed their meal. She replied the 'kitchen is busy and we should expect that when the fall colors are going on'. Our meal came out about ten minutes after this exchange. When it was delivered she said, 'It took the kitchen 48 minutes to cook your food. And just so you know, we are really busy this time of year'. She took off. We had to flag her down again to ask for silverware, and refills for our children. The food was delicious. The restaurant is clean and the location is beautiful. The only thing that completely soured our experience was the server's poor attitude. An acknowledgment and apology would have gone a long way. Stopping by our table, giving an update, and checking in on us would have been proactive. Restaurants get busy, kitchens get backed up at busy times--and that is understandable. Being rude, condescending, and unapologetic is inexcusable. We are easy-going restaurant patrons. It takes a lot to get me upset. I have been a server before and cannot imagine ever talking to a customer the way we were spoken to. We get the bill, and they actually added gratuity! We never tipped under 20%, but felt her rudeness does not warrant our appreciation (although we would have left something). We asked about removing it at the front. The hostess inquired to the manager on duty and came back without the manager and said 'This twenty dollar bill is from his OWN pocket to take care of it. He's eating right now'. So from the manager's lack of response the way we were treated today implies to me that this must be the norm. The place has a ton of potential. I hope the owners recognize their 'team' is not representing their business positively. I hope others have a better experience than I did on what Zoka's considered a 'busy' day (although there was no wait and open tables....). read more

We've been there many time and until the last two times everything has been great. The last two times, anniversary and Valentines Day, the service has been awful. This last time we waited 45 minutes after ordering and our food still hadn't arrived. We finally left and went elsewhere. I hope they get their act together. read more

How anyone could rate this place lower than that must have had a bad day. We stopped here after a day of fishing on the South Platte...expecting the usual fare for the middle of nowhere and WHAT A SURPRISE! One member of our group is a trained chef...she was equally impressed...we have all eaten at many 5 star restaurants around the world...this ranks right up there without the pomp and circumstance or price. All the food was FRESH...not frozen and heated...not steamed trayed or microwaved...we had to wait for a menu as the chef was just finishing preparing it for the evening. Well worth the drive ...plan to return over and over again...even tried to make reservation for this coming New Years...but they didn't have the book out that far yet... read more

I was camping in the pine and heard about this restaurant from word-of-mouth. In a secluded area I wasn't expecting too much but was gladly surprised. I ordered the Zoka burger and was curious about receiving Kobe beef for such a reasonable price. I was gladly surprised with the size of the burger but more importantly the taste! The Kobe beef was delicious and the cheese that came on it was paired extremely well. Word of advice: Spend the extra $1 and get the house salad as a side.. you will not be disappointed! read more

Stopped here for late lunch about 2:30. Lot was mostly empty. Tables inside and out had not been cleaned from the lunch rush. Took a table in the bar area. Tables around us were not cleaned. Server took out drink order then disappeared. Drinks showed up 5 mins later. He came back to take our food order. Food was served hot and was very good. Other server was more inclined to talk to other patrons then to clean the tables all around her. the entire time we were here outside tables never got cleaned. The hummingbirds had a blast here as they have several feeders to choose from. prices are ok. Not much around here best place to stop on the way up to Bailey area. Bikers seem to like stopping here on weekends it's a busy place. read more

Fun local place to stop when driving through Pine. The food is good...loved the buffalo cauliflower and their green chili is pretty yummy. They suggested going medium on the burger but it came out very rare. Service was mediocre, but it was busy on Father's Day. read more

Finally made it to Zokas! We always heard it was great, but its quite the drive to Pine. We took a hike and drove into Pine. Got there about 5pm , perfect timing before the crowds arrived. The food was amazing. Its true what they say about the Chef~ Craig is a great chef for sure. And super friendly. We sat on the porch and enjoyed salmon app, the zoka burger and great selection of beer , including Greens gluten free (hard to find and a great gf option) Will absolutely be back soon! I'd tell you where we hiked, but really don't want you to go there~ like the no crowds! :-) read more

Great hidden gem!! I've been here twice now and everything about it is wonderful!! On my most recent trip, I brought my dad for fathers day and I must say i have never had a waitress who I think enjoys her job so much!! She had the sweetest southern accent (wish I could remember her name, but she was from NM originally) and was so happy to just chat and recommend things for us! Her family was even sitting at the next table and she never once forgot about us! I had the chesapeake benedict which is DELICOUS and my dad got the corned beef hash, a dish he loves.
