If you are zombie or human the food here is still good! From what we ordered and loved were the brisket taquitos and the thick cut bacon taco. Those will remain on the must eat list when we come back. The new brunch item of the brisket hash could use some tweaking it was drowning in bbq sauce and was just ok. It didn't stop my beautiful prego wife from devouring it though. :-) If there was one thing to ding them on is the lack of heat in their salsas. Came here to hang out with my friends at Moxy. There are a ton of games, drinks and things to do at Moxy along with this 24 hour taco shop! I checked out the menu before I came and was excited about the veggie options aaaand queso!!! I ended up ordering a cauliflower/quinoa taco, queso, and chips. The taco was ok, it lacked something which I can put my finger on. The queso and chips was on point and delicious. If possible, I would get chips without salt. I also would like to have some of the breakfast items but will have to save that for another day. All In all, great place to come for a quick bite to eat or a late night eats and worth hanging out in the lobby for a little bit to play pac man or a competitive game of jenga! read more

We I ate here twice, once as a snack before going to see Hamilton, and once for breakfast. I had the brisket taco with guac and pickled red onion. I was very impressed by the amount of meat they put on the tacos. Big kudos for that, but I would also hope that for $4-$5 per taco it had better have lots of meat! It was very tasty, and I'm a little disappointed with myself for not ordering more! For breakfast I had the breakfast burrito, which consists of cheese, potatoes, sausage, eggs, and salsa. To be honest, I can't say I really detected the sausage in it. Considering how much meat the put into their tacos, I'm surprised the breakfast burrito didn't have more. Visited a few weeks ago for a ladies night out with my girls. To my surprise there was a drag show that evening which was absolutely fabulous!! We had plans to grab dinner, but after checking out the small plates around us, we couldnt hesitate to order tacos off the menu. Given that I am on keto, I was able to order the carnitas in a bowl and they were SOOOOO tasty!! They were also very filling to my surprise. On a normal night when there isnt a drag show, the ambiance is great for chatting and catching up with girlfriends! They also have various games that you can play with your crew along with a live DJ on some nights! Def a cool unexpected experience... you should definitely check it out! read more

oof, this was a really annoying experience we approached the side window but we were told by customers eating outside that we had to order inside so that's fail #1 especially bc there was no sign that said to order inside. i wanna assume that there's usually a sign that tells you to order inside bc if those ppl eating outside weren't there, we probably would have either ate somewhere else or the guy cooking would've just pointed next door or something we went inside and started to order on the touch screen BUT guy that's cooking said that we have to order at the bar bc the touch screens weren't working (fail #2) so we had to write down our orders on our phones to tell the bartender. it was only one guy cooking at Zombie Taco and he was NOT friendly at all. he seemed pissed, unable to handle stress well/not working well under pressure or alone, and just overall not a friendly person so we go to the bar and tried to wave down the bartender. there were two bartenders and the bar wasn't busy. one of the bartenders waited until their conversation was done with a customer sitting at the bar and thennn went to us to take our orders while we were deadass staring him down like help pls (fail #3) he then took our orders. the bartender double checked with us our order but i told him he messed up and appreciated him for double checking with us before we got the wrong order to take home. my bf noticed a mistake on the receipt (of our order) and trying to wave down that same bartender took forever even with peripheral vision, you can SEEEE someone waving you down like i understand he was making a drink but he went on to take care of another customer so i definitely did not feel taken care of at this place (fail #4). honestly at this point, i didn't even want to try Zombie Tacos anymore. it was such a let down and this took too much of our time. the bartender then told us that we had to go to the guy cooking and tell him about the mistake THAT THE BARTENDER MADE... ok accountability and taking responsibility out the window it's just weird bc he even double checked with us before sending our order over... (fail #5) finally got our food and my bf lives within 2 minutes of this place so it's deadass walking distance but tell me why our food was cold. none of our foods were hot (we got 3 fish tacos, 1 grilled adobo bbq chicken taco, 1 braised brisket taco, and 1 street corn). i feel like if the foods were hot, they would have been okay but this was completely unacceptable. none of the tacos were hot, not even WARM! the only good thing from this place was the street corn. there's nothing special about these tacos or this place. definitely not coming here again due to such a headache and disappointment of an experience read more

Decent flavor, but really messy tacos. Service was also very odd. We walked up and there was one other couple sitting at a table. With no one outside acting as a host, we grabbed a table and waited.....and waited. Finally, I went to the window and asked if we should order there or if there would be a server. He said we had to order at the window or come inside. After deciding to order at the window, he said that he needed to have the cook take our order. Weird. Anyway, we ended up ordering asked about beer to which the cook said we would have to come inside to order. Odd. Anyway, we sit down and wait for our food. A minute later, a server comes out to take the order from the other couple as well as bringing out drinks and water for them. A minute later a manager comes out and asks us if we'd like to order. My friend and I came here on a Friday night and it was a pretty good meal. We started with the chips and dip, which I would say was the best food of the evening. We got a few different cocktails and they were all generally pretty good. I would recommend the Paloma for a refreshing and yummy drink. The menu is pretty small with only a few taco offerings, but I enjoyed my chicken adobo taco. We were sat in the front in behind a curtain so we didn't really get to experience the ambiance and a few times it felt as if we were forgotten about by our server. At about $4 a pop, the only scenario that I could see myself here again, would be: If I were hammered on a bender roaming through River North in search of Taco Bell and ultimately settling on this as I get impatient while my buzz dwindles away. I stayed at the Moxy hotel and by default had to try zombie taco. During nice weather the Moxy will have the garage door walls open and it's hard to resist stopping by with the comfy couches inside. Guests can dine inside the hotel lobby or outside at the high top tables. It's a very inviting ambiance with the contemporary decor and people hanging out inside. There's also a fully bar at the hotel if you want a drink. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are different menus depending on what time of day it is. The walk up window outside is open 24/7. We only snacked on chips and the trio dip but it was a good deal and perfect for sharing. If you're staying at the hotel there are other options in the coolers for snacks and drinks. I love the concept of the hotel and taco stand. Perfect for hotel guests and friends to hang out in a relaxed setting. read more

I visited here last Sunday for the first time. It was around 1pm and I sat at the bar to try out some tacos. I ordered the brisket and bacon jalapeño tacos. The bacon one is a definite must try! It has some pico de gallo on it that is really flavorful and made the taco do tasty. The brisket taco reminded me a bit of pot roast so while I wouldn't get that one again, I'd definitely try one of the other beef tacos. For a drink I tried one of their specialty cocktails that was made with a grapefruit vodka. Again, not my favorite but I'd be willing to try other things on the menu. Service here is impeccable! The bartenders were great and the atmosphere was light and fun and full of music. There was even a live saxophonist playing along with the dj, who was spinning some nice tunes from the 90s! I'd even say you can bring the kids along; there's giant Connect Four, an Uno game, and Rock 'Em Sock 'Em robots. There's also a cozy couch area that looks like it'll make for great seating with friends. This place is in a hotel lobby but gives you vibes that it's its own restaurant . My Daughters and I tried Zombie Taco after seeing it on a "Chicago must try" list on Youtube. I got the BBQ Chicken Taco and I must say it was mediocre at best. The chicken was so dry and tasteless! I also got a $12 Margarita that had to be the worst tasting drink I have ever had. It was so bitter tasting with no zing at all. My oldest daughter was very happy with her Zombie Burrito, but my youngest was not thrilled with the Fish Taco. After spending over $50 dollars on what I would call snacks, I was really disappointed. The Jalapeno bacon taco is good 24/7, which is ideal awesome because they are open 24/7! Since it was breakfast, I couldn't try the Korean BBQ, but the Chorizo avocado with crema was a delightful substitute. I'd been wanting to try zombie taco for quite some time so I decided to order them on Uber eats. Delivery was super quick which was awesome because I'm used to waiting about 45 minutes for my food. I ordered three tacos but I could've gone with two because the tacos are generously stuffed. I ordered the grilled adobo chicken, the brisket and the Baja style fish. Loved the adobo chicken because the chicken was charred perfectly and the char flavor and complemented the lima crema because they offset each other perfectly. Kind of a spicy and cooling thing going on.. The fish was okay, I think it probably would have been more crunchy if I hadn't ordered on Uber eats so I'm going to try that one again when I visit the actual location. But the flavors were delicious and a little sweet which was interesting! Lastly, the brisket was delicious and the taco had a generous amount of deliciously spicy, tender, meat. So glad I finally gave this place a try and definitely looking forward to trying more of the tacos! read more

I stayed at the Moxy in October for a few days and didn't want to go out to find food because 1. It was during the marathon and 2. it was very cold outside. I tried almost everything they had because with the exception of going out for my work event, I just stayed inside the hotel. One thing I cannot stop thinking about (because it was sooooooooooooooooooo good) is their tomatillo sauce. I am dying to know the key ingredients so I can try to replicate it and put that sh*t on everything! Whenever I go back to Chicago, I will definitely go out of my way to go to Zombie! read more
