A very interesting place to go for an interesting conversation and good (spicy) food We stopped at the nearby Hampton inn just to the south of this restaurant. We wanted to get some comfort food to take back to our hotel so we rolled the dice and walked several blocks to this location. I almost got run over by a driver running a red light and had to avoid a few questionable people but I am very glad we made this journey for both the food and the restaurant. It is at the corner of a building on the bottom floor. It has seating inside and out. You can order either at the bar or at one of two computer kiosks to the right of the entrance. And next to the pickup window. It is a little dark inside with really neat seating areas with several game options and a fireplace. I actually played one of the games with my travelling partner while we waited for our orders to be prepared. The food came out quickly and was very good. The staff was friendly and the prices were a little high but reasonable for the location and quality. I got a chicken burrito with chips and salsa. It was good but a little spicy for my tastes. Overall, it was a good choice and a pleasant experience. It seems a great place to actually have great conversations with your friends due to the uniqueness of the seating areas. Was in Louisville for a 5k. Wanted to find something quick, easy and near where the race was taking place. My go to meal will always be Mexican. So was happy when I found a place that fit all of these categories. It was a bonus it was in the incredibly cool Moxy hotel. I loved the vibe. Occasionally, they have a live DJ on site which adds to the ambiance. This is the perfect spot for late night munchies or lunch and a good place to chill and vibe out. I was impressed with the menu as they offer vegetarian options as well. I highly recommend the taco special or Loaded Nachos you will not be disappointed. Ordering and paying at the kiosk is pretty straightforward - although it's just as easy to order at the bar if you're eating in. The first time I tried them I went with my girlfriend and we both tried their special that was for 3 taco choose your own combo where there are no mods for $14-- this includes even mods to remove items from the taco (like pico de gallo)- otherwise you are charged or they charge you for just the standard single taco price which is more per taco than the deal. We decided to try a bunch and rank them 1-6: 1. brisket 2. pork 3. shrimp 4. spicy veggie 5. chicken 6. fish. The brisket is flavorful and tender versus the fish that tasted overdone. The pork has a great salsa on top and will fall out of the tortilla because there is so much in it. The avocado sauce is pretty good on any of the tacos. The adobe chicken was a little dry. The shrimp one isn't super breaded and they put 4 big shrimps on it with the relishes. The veggie has a nice kick and I liked the cauliflower mixed with other veggies in it. We picked off all the pico de gallo but there wasn't a lot so that was good. If they have the Mexican street corn-- totally get it. It has a little kick from the paprika but it is super tasty and has lots of cotijo cheese. It was out the second time I returned and I was a bit bummed since it was really good the first time. When I returned my second time 3 days later, I ordered with their online platform to pickup and the street corn was out, the shrimp taco was missing the sauce on top, and the pork was missing sauce as well. I'm from Texas and I enjoyed the food but with some notes. The food was good by comparison it's like Chipotle and Velvet Taco fused taco which may be some regional restaurants that not everyone is aware of. I have some chicken nachos and a shrimp taco. The restaurant is inside the Moxy. The environment is amazing. Such a beautiful hotel from Zombie Taco to share. The bartender was extremely kind and the same with the kitchen staff. I had a chicken quesadilla and a taco which were both pretty good. Unfortunately I was sick all night and the next morning after eating here. I didn't have anything else to eat or drink that night or morning. I had all the symptoms of food poisoning which was pretty upsetting because I was pumped to eat there. The only advice I give them is , make sure all food is labeled and no old food is being served. Food is kept in temperature regulated areas and making sure in use food is store away from airborne bacteria and possible contamination. read more

This incognito taco spot is located inside of the stylish and fun Moxy hotel in downtown Louisville. You can order from a kiosk and they will send you a text when your tacos are ready. It is fairly quick and you can definitely spend your wait playing one of their many games (taught my son how to play Pac-Man) or chatting it up with your friends or the bartenders at the bar. There are plenty of sitting areas and the touch less pay system is a great convenience. We played Late Night Family Feud and laughed all night. The tacos are too small for my liking but flavorful. You do get three (guacamole, salsa, queso) with your bag of nachos. The joint is located within a hotel and the gym is close to the restrooms so don't be surprised to see people walk by with workout gear on. Got breakfast burritos here during our stay at Moxy because it was raining like crazy that morning. We got a token for a food credit on check-in, which you can't use at the kiosk. It's in a hotel lobby bar but the place is huge, they have indoor and outdoor seating for when it's warmer outside. They have a fireplace inside and lots of nooks and crannies to sit in while you wait for your food or eat. The service is all à la carte, you can order online or in the lobby via their touch screen menus. You don't have to wait long before your order is up, hot and ready! Zombie taco is a swanky and cool named and themed taco bar located in the downstairs of swanky hotel called moxy in downtown Lousiville famed whiskey row area. Walking in and it's an experience and setup unlike anything me and a friend of mine have seen. Very low light club and bar like atmosphere with the hotel check in being at an actual full service bar. Loud music blared throughout the lobby which well features impressive fireplaces, quality furniture along with board and table games spread out. We were there for the zombie tacos portion which is also located in the lobby. We seen a "pick up window" to find out how to order. The worker Pointed us to this touch screen kiosk that had people hanging around and blocking the view (very crowded and in a tiny space with lots going on as you can tell from the opening paragraphs of this review). So we walk to the kiosk and ask the people to slide over and make our orders. Very limited menu with only a few taco taco and burrito options. Most of the taco toppings are what me and my buddy would call boujie tacos or fancy food. Which is fine. The tacos were very expensive at around $8 a piece. But we thought "well This isn't a traditional Mexican establishment or a Taco Bell so we bet the tacos have a nice size". We were very wrong. These tacos may even be smaller than Taco Bell's $1 menu tacos. After misdiagnosis on the size and quantity of the food and already being Leary of the high end price tag for a taco, we both only ordered one taco a piece. The food was ready really quickly as we got the text message our food was ready for pickup rather quickly. Obviously once getting our food and seeing how small we were kinda disappointed. This was suppose to be our dinner. We figured we would try it and if it knocked off our socks we would buy another $8 taco since they prepared them so fast. I personally got the Adobo BBQ Chicken taco and my buddy got the Braised Brisket taco. I very rarely have zero positive things to say about food. However, I can't say anything good about my adobo bbq chicken taco. The meat was super dry and had bad flavor. The tortilla was over cooked and it was a difficult to chew and eat taco. My buddy was less than enthused about the taste of his taco as well. However he sampled the chicken on mine and agreed it was gross and said compared to my taco his was absolutely the better choice. Overall, this place had so much potential. Very cool vibe, setup and an awesome name. 5 stars all day on the vibe. However, it is very hectic and busy in there. This isn't a place to come for a quick dinner. It's a bar atmosphere in a hotel lobby that would best suited as an appetizer for a bigger meal or just an expensive drunken snack. We left starving still, so we both moved on to a Different spot and ordered dinner at a more traditional sit down spot. Both of us left disappointed in the quantity and quality of the tacos. Such a a shame as we were both very hyped to finally try this place. This lovely, beautiful, creatively designed, upscaled taco restaurant blew our minds...and WOW, it had an unusually perfect, relaxing ambiance. Not your usual casual taco joint with regular table and chairs. The decor and seating areas were like being in a beautiful living room with a variety of sofa settings with a beautiful fire place in the middle of the room with a dining room table, and other comfortable sofa chair seating settings.. There was a beautiful bar with great drinks upon entrance. And there was an outside patio channeling the sofa decor seating settings inside the restaurant. AND the TACOS were Super superb...SO DELICIOUS...OMG....The Best Tacos I've had from a taco restaurant EVER! I had the Brisket, Fish, and shrimp tacos...SooooGoood! It was about 13-14 different kinds of tacos to choose from including a vegetarian one. Prices, Customer Service and Promptness were excellent! Zombie Taco sits inside Moxy Hotel, offering a small menu during normal and late night hours. The atmosphere is fantastic, especially in the evening. Ordering and payment is easy at the kiosk. On this particular night I only needed the trio of chips and dip, including guacamole, salsa and queso. We didn't have nearly the right amount of chips but our server grabbed me another bag for the table at no charge. We've been going to the Moxy yoga on a monthly basis. It's a lot of fun you do a yoga class with your friends on the rooftop at 10 AM. On a rainy, cold winter day, Zombie Taco was just what I needed to warm up. There was literally a fire inside, and the tacos were warm with a bit of a kick to them. I met someone for a lunch meeting at this spot. We approached the counter and put in our orders, which came out a few minutes later. We started with the Housemade Chips & 3 Dips, which is made up of tortilla chips with queso, guac and salsa. Loved the queso so much that that's pretty much the only dip I ate. And one of my only suggestions for Zombie Taco would be to add more apps. Considering Zombie Taco is such a great meeting place, it would be awesome to have other sharable appetizers besides chips. Maybe some suped-up nachos? Taquitos? (It looks like these are available on the website for Zombie Taco. Here's hoping they make it to the Louisville location.) And then for my tacos I got the braised brisket and Baja-style fish. These tacos are small enough that you can eat a few probably in one sitting. The fish taco was my favorite. The fish was fried perfectly. But I liked the chipotle ranch in the brisket taco as well. Zombie Taco's interior is definitely fun and something to be enjoyed. It's made for day-time meals as well as late-night hangs, with board games, conversation corners and other fun bits mixed in. It also has an expansive bar that I hope to take advantage of some day.
