Zombie Taco has arrived and I am all about it! From what I know, Louisville lacks 24 hour joints, and this is a great one to have right smack onto Main Street. This little stand is located inside the new Moxy hotel, which is super posh. There is a check in counter when you walk in, so I'm not sure if it's the same place where you would check into the hotel, but either way it is basically a big bar area with a full service bar, and some cozy areas to sit in. I had thought you just ordered at the stand, however they also do table service, which was nice. All around there are all kinds of board and card games, so it was cool to be able to check those out while waiting for our food. - I started out with the hibiscus margarita, which was a strong but fruity drink, even topped with a little hibiscus flower. - I only ordered one taco, the braised brisket taco, and loved it! It was very flavorful and I loved the sauce that was added to it. - I also got the zombie burrito, which was huuuge (couldn't even finish it after the taco,) but also great. It's the first burrito I've had with Cole slaw inside, and to my surprise I really enjoyed it. I am legit jealous of those who live or work nearby this hotel. What a fun new place for downtown. We came on a Friday night right at the end of happy hour and took advantage for the Friday special of half off select large drinks. The margarita was delicious, not to sweet not to sour and you could taste the tequila without it being all liquor. Hands down one of my favorite margaritas. Although I enjoy margaritas more poolside in the summer, the atmosphere here was amazing. He grabbed a cozy table by the fire, the music is loud enough to keep the atmosphere upbeat but it's a great place to meet friends and catch up. Happy hour from 4-6 has $5 margaritas which we all enjoyed the half price chips and dip. The green chili queso was so good, the salsa and guacamole were good and tasted very fresh. The chips came out hot and lightly salted. After margaritas we tried the bourbon drink Living my best life with house made ginger and we were all impressed. Bourbon and ginger is my go to drink (with the exception of Mexican and margaritas). And will be a tough decision the next time I'm here. We tried the Baja fish taco and the cheese crisp. Both were good the crisp had a truffle aioli that almost over powered it but scrapping some off made it yummy! The fish tacos were good but not the best I've ever had. So I'm worried that people are going to be enamored by the branding of Zombie Taco and automatically give them a 5* review because of it. To be sure, it is a cool name. And I like the logo and the premise. Zombie = open all hours of the night. I get it. But don't let that fool you. Early verdict is that this place does one thing really well, and the other thing just OK. So we're going to go with 4*. Breakfast tacos and burritos are pretty awesome. They're filling, they're flavorful, and they not a bad price. I would put these up against almost anywhere else. I wish they made them all day (maybe they do?), because I would EXCLUSIVELY get the breakfast tacos. They're outstanding. Lunch/Dinner tacos & burrito? Meh. The flavor just isn't there. And honestly, these are the most greasy and oily food items I may have ever eaten. And not in a good way. They were DRIPPING with oil. It was a pretty unpleasant experience. Stopped in at the new Zombie Taco the Mozy Hotel early this morning, it is open 24 hours. I had the American Burrito for breakfast which had bacon, sausage, hash browns, eggs, cheddar cheese, and jalapeño salsa. It is cooked to a nice light brown and tasted great. It was enough to have half then and save some for later. I can't wait to try other burritos and tacos. I have been wanting to try zombie taco for a while because I like tacos a lot! I had high hopes due to the decor, location and advertising. I went at lunch at 12:30 and was surprised they were pretty empty. tried the adobe chicken and Baja fish taco. The adobe chicken ($3) was flavorful and a tad spicy -I enjoyed it. The Baja fish taco($4) was just ok. There was more toppings than fish. The prices were definitely reasonable! The service was good, not bad not great. Unlike the other reviews I did get napkins and time to order. My server spoke and was polite. I did not get any utensils to eat the toppings that fell out but I made due. The lunch menus is limited in comparison to the dinner menu so I would go back an try some dinner items at a later time. read more

Loving the vibe at Zombie Taco! Went for dinner and drinks and enjoyed a great night with delicious food, great drinks, and fun games. You walk in and are directly in front of the bar. You have to follow the ropes and go up to the window around the side of the bar to place an order. You order, receive a pager, and take a seat of your choice. Your other option, is to come in, take a seat and a waiter or waitress will come around to take your drink and food order. Shortly after placing our order of seven tacos: 2 thick cut jalapeño bacon 2 baja style fish 1 spicy quinoa and cauliflower 1 pork carnitas 1 charred Korean beef. And two drinks: Hibiscus margarita and shots fired We found a seat in the back corner by the fusball table and our pager quickly buzzed. The tacos come served in paper trays which are then served on larger silver aluminum trays. The presentation is definitely visually appealing and thankfully the food meets the visual expectation. The thick cut jalapeño bacon was scrumptious (as bacon always is). It was put together with a few basic ingredients that still delivered an amazing punch of flavor. Baja style fish was fried to perfection. Crispy on the outside and still moist on the inside which is success on its own when it comes to fried fish. The only downside was that this taco felt like it was missing something. The batter does not have much flavor and so I would have like to see the addition of some sort of pickled veggies or a more powerful sauce to give it a bigger flavor. The spicy quinoa and cauliflower was absolutely amazing! The divine combination of flavors and textures was not a disappointment at all (which can sometimes be the case with vegetarian tacos because it can be so difficult to master flavor with veggies). There was a sort of Smokey savory taste to the taco that we actually went back for a second. The pork carnitas taco was good but another taco I had higher expectations for. Carnitas is typically a favorite of mine being Hispanic. I loved the chicharrón on top and the meat was season and savory. The only downside was that the meat was too watery and not even slightly crispy on the ends like a traditional carnitas. The Korean charred beef was MY FAVORITE!!! This was a take a bite and do a happy dance kind of taco! The flavor was astronomical with some sweet and a small kick of spice. This taco met and surpassed all expectations The drinks were a bonus! Both were excellent but if you like a bit of spice, the shots fired is the way to go as the hibiscus is sweeter. After seven tacos though, we were still hungry. We went back and ordered three more because the servings are not very large for the price you pay for each of the tacos. We got another spicy quinoa and cauliflower, another Korean beef, and a braised brisket. The brisket was superb! The meat is perfectly cooked and seasoned which made it another great choice. Overall, for a late night bite to eat and a drink, I would totally keep coming back. I would stick to the meat options and definitely another delicious veggie taco. The vibes here are chill and cozy. Really enjoyed our visit to Zombie Taco/Moxy Bar. Was busy but not full. Really great environment, including a stylish fireplace, board and arcade games. You can order food at the kiosks and sit wherever-- at the bar or anywhere in the lounge area. Food service is very quick-- pickup at the window next to the bar. The tacos were on the smaller end, but were solid-- our favorite was the brisket, but the fish and the carnitas tacos were also great. Really good drinks at the bar, as well, with friendly and helpful service. Solid tacos in a super expensive feeling hotel bar. The Trio for $12 was a great buy. The tacos were full of flavor and portion. The self-order system is nifty and the speed of the kitchen is commendable. I did forget to grab my drink from the otherwise unassuming fridge section to the right, but I walked back and got it just fine. I felt a little sense of odd since I wasn't drinking at the bar. Bland and inconsistent, bold claim best taco I will ever have, Nah. I visited this location around 4 AM. It is 20s degrees outside and I unaware of the business model 24/7 operation method after hours "order outside, pay outside, wait outside". That's just none sense. After midnight weekdays and 2 AM on weekends, you only get to order from the street screen and pay on the screen, hmmm what about cash? Anyway, after I froze outside, not too long of a wait, I got my chips and dips (warm chips and three dips; queso, salsa and guac) and Zombie burrito. Chips warm, extra credit but bland Salsa; BAD, not taste-wise, because it was just bland, but my salsa was acidic, you know that taste of fermented fruits or veges, as of my salsa was old or the tomatoes were bad. Guac, it has browned up but definitely could taste the guac but again bland. Queso, enjoyable and I would have it again. Not a melting queso texture though, chunky but still soft. Burrito, whatever cold thing I tasted inside, the meat was all cooked prior, that's for sure as nothing inside it was warm or hot, just luke warm. and again Bland, tasteless. Believe it or not, I had to put that acidic salsa on top to get flavor out of it. Not tasty with the Guac or Queso. I got a hint that some of the food wasn't fresh, I was given extra guac, large side, two of them. Who otherwise gives out free guac like that. The service/staff pleasantness was adequate, parking at late 4AM was available, free of course and lastly don't forget, you can dine in but if after those hours above, must be staying in the hotel. As you weave in between people to make your way to the Zombie Taco order window you see drinks being poured at the bar, tacos flying out the window, people enjoying games, the market, and vibe. On my first round I got a Carnitas Taco and chicken Adobe. Both were full of flavor and wanting more. 2nd round I went the Zombie Burrito filled pork, chicken, corn, beans, and jack cheese. I was encouraged to give this another chance and I'm glad that I did. When I walked through the door, the lady behind the bar welcomed me in a friendly way and told me I could sit anywhere at the bar. The bartender was also very polite and asked me if I would like something to drink as she handed me the menu. She asked if I had any questions and took my order. The Korean beef tacos ate the star of the show, lots of flavor, great texture and overall a great taco, though it can be a bit greasy. The braised brisket adobo chicken are the runner ups, at a solid 4/5. The pork carnitas was so bland and overly saturated I couldn't do more than one bite. The Korean Philly cheese steak is somewhere between the taco and the pork carnitas in terms of tastiness, the beef is good, but its swimming in cheese and random veggies that don't really add much to the overall flavor profile. While we waited for our food we cashed in our free drink tokens from the hotel. The taquitos were AMAZING and the save to dip them in was absolutely to die for plus, I mean, who wouldn't love fried tortillas filled with cheese? Why is it an actual place to eat but our food is in bags creating so much unnecessary waste in the pursuit of aesthetics. I ordered a brisket taco which was COVERED in grease and inedible. I paid $5 for an inedible palm sized taco with the meat COLD. Afterwards, our server took our trash and forgot about our "table." We found her chatting with her coworkers after a 15 minute wait for our check. We were met with rude stares with our dissatisfaction of service. I give it 3 stars because one of the workers gave me a free shrimp taco because he was embarrassed by the fact they were out of all the things I requested are used to run a bar and it could be run more efficiently. They are trying to be quirky, but it's not working, especially in Kentucky. my advices get a bigger menu and be better stocked. It's also super weird you check into the hotel at zombie taco the bar. Was pretty disappointed. They were out of Everything Except brisket tacos. So I ordered those, then the tacos came, there was no more than a tablespoon of meat in them and 1/2 was fat. It's almost like the cooks were afraid to run out of the last item on their menu. When they should've just filled it with the proper amount of meat and said they're sold out for the day. Chips stale and there servings are different sizes depending on what you order with it. Even though it's an add in extra. I ordered two tacos and a side of chips and got about 20 chips.
