I had a very good experience at Kamien Computers. When you walk into the store for the first time, you can see that they have decorated the walls with motherboards they have pulled out of other computers which adds kind of a nice touch and a very techy feel to the place. The funny thing is that from the front it's not much to look at. There's is a fake brick wall with some running ads on the television they have set up in a front a small seating area over a plain gray carpet. It's a little drab but they keep it clean which. The setting aside, the real value is in their capabilities. I have had a really hard time getting good service in the Schaumburg area for all of my computer problems. It's something that was always a point of contention for me because I do a lot of accounting work and am sitting in front of the computer day-in and day-out. When I had come in, I was promptly greeted by a polite young man who is working at the store. I explained that I had gone to all the major retailers out here who claim they have great and affordable computer repair service but it's a joke. They wanted anywhere from $40-$100 minimum deposit to get my data recovered and told me there was a minimum of 2-3 week wait. That being said, the man behind the counter explained that these are stock answers that the company gives because they don't have the tools or knowledge at that level to even make that determination. I agree to give him the hard disk to give it a shot, he said that the maximum it could be out of his store is $450 which is about $150 less than the minimum I was quoted at the other stores. For that matter, the other stores told me it could be up to $1600 or more which I think is total BS. It's my opinion that they are trying to manage your expectations so they can charge you $800-$900 and you will be happy to pay that over $1500+. After I left the disk with guys at Kamien Computers, I got a call back two days later saying that they were starting to pull up data but the hard disk was in bad shape so they would have to start immediately so as not to risk losing information. They estimated the process to take another day and estimated $350 for the total cost of the recovery. I agreed to it and within a day I got all of my data and excel files back from my hard disk. In short, I'm very thankful and I think the guys at this store do a good job managing your expectations and giving you a quality service for your money. I still do feel bad having to pay so much to get my data back but I can't complain that the service was bad or that they left me hanging. I just with the costs were a little lower. read more

I created this account just to review this place. Believe me, if you need help with your computer this is THE place to take it. Don't bring it to Best Buy or Fry's Electronics. The people who work at Kamien Computer are not only incredibly knowledgeable but their help also comes at a fair price. I attempted to build a computer from parts I purchased on Newegg.com and ran into problems at the assembly phase. I couldn't tell if one of my parts was defective or if I had connected something wrong. I found this place on Yelp.com and decided to trust the reviews. I then called Kamien Computer and asked about their services. I was told that if they have to hold it overnight it'd cost around $40 but if they could figure out the problem at the counter it was free. So, I decided to take a chance and take my computer to this place. After checking out my computer they told me exactly what I needed to plug in and where. They helped me figure out what was wrong with my computer and it didn't cost me anything. Long story short, Kamien Computer is by far one of the best options for PC repair out there. As a side note: The place is a little hard to find as there is no obvious signs that say "Kamien Computer". Look for the shop that looks tech-related and has motherboards hanging on the wall and you'll be at the right place. read more

What can I say? These guys are real life savers. I dropped my iPad on the ground and totally wrecked the front glass. I can't express the feelings I had looking at my ipad with shards of glass all over. I took it to the apple store expecting they would ask me to buy a new one, which they basically did. In fact they wanted to charge me like $300 with tax to have it repaired which was a real bummer. I looked around using their imacs hoping to find somebody nearby that does Apple repair work at least to get a quote for less than $300 and that's when I found Zombie Techs. I called over to the store and the guy who picked up the phone was very kind and explained that this sort of thing happens all the time. It turns out they stock the screens and glass for like 20 or 30 of each model at a time. With that said he explained to me the ipad repair would only cost $100 + tax and take about an hour or two. Everything they did was just as they said it would be and my iPad glass looks like brand new and I'm even using it right now to play netflix in the background. These guys did an awesome job and I highly recommend using Zombie Techs for your iPad repairs. They also do computers, laptops, ipods, and other apple products so this is like a little gold mine. They're actually called Zombie Techs now so don't be surprised when you show up and the name of the company is different. It's actually the same guys who run it from what I understand. I used the company for a year now to have iPhones fixed from our office. We all use iPhones here and we've probably broken 10 of them in terms of screens alone in the last year and a half or so. The store is a little bit hard to find off the streets but just look for Zombie Techs stickers on the windows. The company is across the street from The Drink nightclub about half a mile east of Harper College. With that said, every time I've brought them an iPhone, I've been nothing short of satisfied. In fact the first few times they've exceeded my expectations and taught me a little bit about these phones too and some of the reasons that they break and what kind of damage occurs. They're pretty knowledgeable and have been able to answer all of my questions. They also fix computers and every time I came in for service it's been pretty quick and most things for me have been same day. I really think they have a bright future. I called Zombie Tech because I had so many electronics that need repair. 3 crack phone screens, 1 phone had a damaged battery port and a tablet that had a damaged battery port. I talked to Kevin who was so pleasant and confident in his knowledge of repairs to more than just computers, I was convinced that this was the place to take my family items. My daughter and I went in and Kevin wasn't there, but there was a young man that was just as pleasant and knowledgeable as Kevin, his name was Sebastian and he worked so well with me and my daughter . He told us exactly what was wrong with ever item , how long it would take and gave us the best pricing I could ever believe for all these items. His pricing was way cheaper than anywhere else we have taken our electronics for repair. I went to best buy and Woodfield mall to have items repaired and paid way more for one item then what I paid for 4 items at Zombie Tech. I love this place and will always bring any broke or damaged electronics to Zombie Tech. I will recommend this place to anyone who need any repairs. i have a fairly modern laptop, started to run slow so i decided to ask around what the best shops are to cure everything. majority of people told me about these guys at Kamien. i was skeptical at first because they are not a huge name company but took the long drive & went in and told them i basically want everything all cleared out as if it was a new computer and would like the windows 8 installed with anti virus because i seem to get virus/cookies stuck on my computer all the time.i left it with them went and grabbed Starbucks by the time i came back everything was done!!!!!!!!! unreal how knowledgeable and upfront these guys were! everything is now working smooth and super super super fast as if i bought a whole new top of the line computer. oh yeah and i forgot the biggest thing of all (they don't rip you off) normally in life if its too good to be true it normally is but in this case the price was just right and half the cost as geek squad! thanks again and any other problems i will not hesitate to head over to them or give them a call! read more

wow, this is a great company. ive searched for like 10 or 11 places around the northwest suburbs and schaumburg to see who can fix my iphone 5 button problem. half the places I called didn't even know what I was talking about and the other half wanted a ton of money to fix my power button. I walked into zombie techs because they sounded friendlier and more professional than the places I called and the guy I spoke to knew exactly what the problem was and how to fix it. As it happens, they keep the parts in stock for lots of different phones and computers and they were able to replace my power button within an hour. It works just like brand new and I honestly couldn't be happier. The guys over the counter were super helpful and let me know that their services are warrantied for 28 days after repair. Worst experience in years. I dropped an ipad and shattered the screen. Found these guys online. Told me to bring it in for $99 they would replace the screen. Dropped off and could not get back for weeks. Excuse after excuse. When I finally got it the wifi didn't work. They fixed it. Then the microphone didn't work. They fixed it. Then the screen wasn't glues down all the way around. They fixed it. Then the new screen broke because it was not installed correctly. 1 year and a dozen visits later, I went to Apple $250 plus tax and the problem is solved. Nightmare store. George, Rukus, & misc repair guys are full of excuses and poor on delivering. Roll the dice, if you want to save $150. My experience was ugly beyond anything I've seen in recent years. Good luck. An updated driver for the adapter on my desktop wouldn't install, and I wanted to try a new service. I was very glad I found Zombie Techs. When I walked in, Carlos greeted me and was clear and upfront about possible diagnoses and costs. Within a few hours someone called with a definitive diagnosis of the problem and to get authorization to complete the work. I was able to pick up the machine the next morning, and it is working beautifully. The cost was much less than I was used to paying at the big box places, and the expertise greater. I came in recently to get a quote for a new screen replacement for my MacBook Air. I was first impressed by how nice the gentleman at the front desk was. And I absolutely loved the quote as well, went somewhere previously and got quoted a ridiculous amount. They had to order the part and received a call about 3 days later letting me know my MacBook is ready ! Came in and the gentleman that rang me out was also very polite and offered that I take a look at my MacBook to make sure it's well . He let me know if I had any problems I could just give them a ring and they will help me out. They quite literally destroyed my laptop and were unapologetic for it. There's a young Russian man there who's absolutely horrid at customer care. I literally created Yelp! For this. I brought my laptop in because it was slightly tearing up in the bottom right a bit and I was worried. After I brought it in they said they would simply check for the price for a replacement. Next thing I know they broke the screen off from the hinges on both sides. These guys are absolute crooks and horrible people to boot. I strongly recommend not using them, I've never experienced something like this before and plan to report them to Better Business Bureau. read more

I highly recommend this place, great employee (at least for who worked on my pc). I had recent trouble with upgrading my desktop. I did not have the proper Power Supply for my new components. I called this place and they suggested a great place where I can easily buy the recommended PCU during this pandemic. This was on a Saturday when they close at 3:30 PM. I asked if they would be able to have the PCU fixed on the same day, and the person that I talked to gladly accepted my request.
