This is the place to go if you want to put your iphone to death bed. I repaired my iphone 6s for water damage with these guys in october, they charged $214 and fixed it on the same day. Then problems started. 1. Phone did not charge after I come home. 2. Took back. Kept it for about week and half, was told home button replaced. I was not told any consequences. 3. Now touch ID does not work and 3D touch does not work. 4. Worked fine for 3 weeks then, home button stopped working. 5. Returned for repair again (to repair home button) when my daughter came home for thanksgiving holidays. 6. Was told this cannot be fixed. But they can fix 3d touch. I should have said no, knowing their track record in continual repairs. I made a mistake. I said yes. Was called after 3 days and told, I need to pick up the phone it cannot be repaired. Now my phone is not working condition. They don't want to take any responsibility of compensating my phone. My repeated requests for talking to owner was not honored. I told technicians that I need to talk to the owner, they never put me through. These guys essentially damaged my phone during repair, don't want to refund my money and compensate for the phone. Totally I am completely lost on my phone and another $200. I waited a week and submitting this review and complaint to IL attorney general. So if you want your phone to put to death, this is the place to be. go ahead.... read more

It was $50 to clean my disgusting MacBook (I had no idea it was that nasty inside) and $82 to replace an early 2013 MacBook Pro trackpad that had cracked. Great pricing! Apple tried to tell me that I had to replace the whole keyboard and trackpad areas to get this fixed, but Zombie Techs fixed it for $82 and it works perfectly. Awesome! read more

Brought my MacBook to get some weird screen glitch looked at while they did that we got our hard drive upgraded and our computer cleaned up and for all the work they did it came out to an amazing price compared to taking it to an apple store where it probably would have came out to $500+ The people that work here know their stuff and even though the screen glitch didn't happen when they had the computer for however many days they had it (apparently my computer is an a-hole and only decides to mess up at my home) they cleaned the computer, fixed some wiring and they told us if it happened again we would be able to bring it back in and they would try to find another solution for it. The screen ended up doing the glitch again, I gave them a call and they told me to bring the computer back in and they would look at it free of charge. I took my iPhone here on two occasions so far. Both times, the team was able to fix my phone in just a few hours. The first time I walked through the door it was for an issue with a cracked screen which they were able to do in 40 minutes and it looked just like brand new. I couldn't believe it because I'm used looking at Apple products like cars where sure people can service them but if you want the highest quality you usually have to take it back to the dealer. That said Apple wanted over $180 for my cracked screen replacement. At Zombie Techs (Kamien Computers) they only charged me $80 for my iPhone 4. By far the best price from what I've seen calling around and they did a better job with my cell phone than I've experienced with dedicated cell phone repair shops in the past. The second time I came in was for water damage on my iPhone. I basically spilled beer all over it the night before and it was pretty much submerged for about 10 hours. I tried the trick where you put the phone into a box of rice to dry it out but it totally failed. The guys explained to me that the iphone's battery is always plugged in so even if it's not on, the battery can still be destroying a water damaged board. Anyways they advised me to bring it in ASAP and they cleaned out all the water damage. Guess what, it still works perfectly and I got it back later that day. Highly recommended service. I'm going to bring my iPad here too if the screen breaks, I found out they fix that as well. read more

Dishonest. Teaches employees to lie. Claims to do work that wasn't done. i was ripped off - told work was done that was not. Told i had a problem that i did not have. i am a comp tech (25+ yrs) and was overloaded so i took a customer's machine to these people. i already knew exactly what the prob was. They claimed i had a bad hard drive. They never looked at the machine, or they are totally incompetent - the drives were ruled out before i took it to them. i hope this review spares you the mistake i made, falling for these other fake reviews. Read them all and decide. Hey zombie (also known as Zombie Tech), think you'll lose the $50 bucks you ripped me for? More than that, much more. i dint mention i knew what was wrong with the machine. You should mend your ways and make restitution. it will help offset the problems you bring on yourself. Very friendly, but a strange business model. I took in my dead ipod. They got it working again but without the wifi which needed a part ordered. They did this first part for free. I was impressed and asked them to order the part and I'd pay for the full repair, they said they'd call when they had the part. Weeks later no call . I called in to chase them up, sure we'll reorder it and be in touch, weeks later called again, sure will call back later today, no call. I gave up on them. read more

I had a problem with the charging port on my Kindle - charger would not fit in. I thought there was a bend in the metal. When I took it in the tech looked inside and saw that there was some bits of rubber stuck in the port (probably from the fringes of the soft case that had come loose). He went in the back for a few minutes, came out and the charging port was cleared and functional. No charge. I mean they did not charge me, but I then could charge my Kindle! Originally, I would have rated this much higher, but the onion has slowly been peeling back to reveal the true colors of this place. I first found Kamien when looking for a new/used laptop. They had a moderately priced one that I assumed would work well, you know, coming from a computer repair shop. Well, it did work for about 6 months. Then the windows explorer (not Internet Explorer, Windows Explorer - the system that allows you to view your files...you know, an essential part of a computer?) started crashing every time I tried to open a file. So I brought it back in and they determined that the hard drive needed to be replaced. $200+ dollars later, I had a new hard drive and everything seemed to be working right. At this point, the computer was a back-up and was relegated to the shelf until I needed it. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago - I needed it. I booted it up, hooked it up to the network and guess what? Same problem as before - Windows Explorer crashing again. Not a problem, I thought, these guys are good and will know what to do. Not the case, apparently, as the new employee wanted to first charge me 49.99 to look at it and then obviously whatever repairs were necessary. At this point, I'm not looking to spend any more money on this used laptop that should have been functioning correctly in the first place. I've already spent the same as if I would have purchased it new. I understand that there are short windows of warranty work on these things, but to have the same thing happen again - when they supposedly fixed it? I asked to speak with the owner and the person running the store said that he was very busy and wouldn't speak with me - "he's in and out and running many different things and doesn't have time to talk with you." So, I packed up my laptop and left. And I was willing to let several other mishaps go as I wanted to support a small business in the area and not take my repairs to a big box store...but the last time they did work for me, I had to return 3 times to get it done correctly on a couple other laptops. It wasn't that much of an inconvenience at the time as it's right next to the Subway that I frequent for lunch, but now I'm realizing that it should have been a harbinger for things to come. They tried to give me a power supply that wasn't the same one that I had brought with my computer, they didn't set up the network drivers properly, and now, I'm finding out that yet another laptop that I had repaired there isn't working. Do these guys not know what they are doing, or are they just doing sub-par work? I cannot recommend these guys anymore as they don't stand behind their work and what work they do complete is done shoddily and incorrectly. Perhaps if they turned the techno-music down and concentrated on what they were doing, they might end up with better results and more satisfied customers - but at this point, they've lost me. read more

My experience with Zombie tech started off a bit "scary" (pun intended!). They tried to repair my iPad screen but with Apple updating its iOS from 9.1 to not allow updates unless TouchID is linked to the processor, they couldn't get it working after the screen repair. Not only were they very honest about it but they replaced my iPad Mini !! Totally unexpected and professional. I would go back to them again - however, be careful about replacing iPhones/iPads with TouchID - check it out completely before going ahead. HORRIBLE! After having my computer for 2 days, they NEVER called to tell me what was wrong or what they did to fix it. I had to always call them. Some guy said I could pick it up...they closed in 10 minutes! So I run over there and my computer is NOT done! They didn't install the anti-virus software I asked them to install. Guy never apologized. I told them to just give it to me without it. I asked him what was found on my computer and what they did to fix it. He said, "I don't know. I didn't work on it." I told him the technician should call the customer to tell them what they found wrong with their computer. He said, "We don't work that way." No kidding! I get home, plug in my computer, and it's just a slow as ever with error messages still popping up! All I can see that they did was install their logo on my desktop. Horrible! For $100 he cleared all files out of my computer, or be fair maybe the trojan did. Anyway, he installed pirated Window XP Professional software and all of the associated problems with such a program has been visited upon me now. DON'T go there! They charged me $125 for a opensource OS installation and putting a new SSD(which I purchased) in my old dell laptop. They promised that they run their "own diagnostics" and they do things "differently". I assumed that since they are charging so much they would help me and support with the service but they did not. My laptop had issues with the display and was not supporting multiple monitors post their service. I am not sure why they charged for diagnostics if there was still a fault in the system. So i told them to just do the usual Windows installation(which usually takes half an hour) and they said they would charge another $125 for that. So now I am stuck with a problem in a laptop and a question if i should invest another $125 more or should have gone for a new laptop. So the service they should have supported, they asked for the same amount again!!!! Terrible experience. Please save yourselves the time. If you can browse yourself(google\youtube) and find the solution on internet , just do that because you will eventually end up doing JUST THAT! read more

I came in to have a cracked screen on my sons phone fixed. They took weeks to repair my sons phone missing promise date after promise date. Then when he finally got it, within 1 day the new screen began to separate from the phone. It took another week to fix again, and they told him they had to use extra strong tape???? (A week??) He then had it crack again in his pocket within 1 week. They did agree to fix it at cost, but were very rude and it took another 2 weeks to get repaired. First took my 5 year old HP laptop to the "other" well-known geeks after their phone techs told me they could repair the screen (dead pixels across the screen 1/2 wide). Got to the store and they flat out said, we don't fix laptops that are more than a couple years old. I told them that I would not have bothered making the trip if their phone techs had told me otherwise (they also knew make/model/age). I realize now, that to placate me, they agreed to send it to repair for $35 min diagnostic fee and said it would take 3 weeks. The laptop was returned 7 days later with nothing done "parts no longer avb for equipment that old -- could try getting from HP myself and having it installed elsewhere". Total waste of time and hardly a subtle ploy to sell me a new laptop. The Zombie Techs had it repaired perfectly w/in a week and for a very reasonable price. Oddly, the unit would not fire up when I went to pick it up--they kept it another day after learning that the motherboard failed. I fully planned to play for the additional repair but they said that since it happed while in their possession, there was no charge. He said "we don't work like some car repair shops trying to hit you up for extra charges". Everything been working fine since. I highly recommend them! read more

this is the absolute worst service i have ever received and an extremely shady business. i took in my macbook about 1 1/2 - 2 months ago. the first day i brought it in they said it would be done by the end of the week. now im back to school and totally screwed over and have to go to the library every day. every week they tell me it will be shipped the next week, yet it never shows up. the problem with my computer was that i spilled pop on it, and although their website states "Spilled coffee on your keyboard? Computer doesn't seem to be charging? Overheating issues? These are all common issues we face with computers.
